  1. As everyone has said, lift weights to gain weight and eat properly. But don't ever neglect your cardio, it's very important, and much more important i'd say than gaining 10 pounds at your age.

For the record, this post has been done before. But it was over a year ago, and I don't have a problem with another discussion. anonimu, a little more detail instead just a wikipedia link would probably help this thread move on better though. I disagree, I agree with the opposite. The future is what's yet to happen, so it's impossible to visit it. And then past is what's gone, so technically, also impossible. We live in a present world. we cannot go backwards because the only way to time travel is using Einstein's theory of relativity...moving much faster in a different dimension of time to go into the future... so technically...you would exist in a different time plane and accelerate faster than the time plane here on earth...age slower..and technically "go into the future" as time in your dimension would move much quicker. let's say you move a period of 9 years, but it takes you 33 days. you would go back to the dimension of earth, and have only aged 33 days...while every1 else aged 9 years that's the only way i see time travel as possible...you cannot revisit the past Not technically true, there are possible ways to travel back in time, certainly not a simple machine though, but it might be possible. Some physicists aren't convinced, others are. If you want an explanation of how, just let me know.

I don't think the parents have a 'right' per se, but they will inevitably (if they're good parents) have an active interest. I think good parents would be interested, advise, guide and council, but as long as the child isn't in any kind of danger, they won't force their views.
  4. That would have been a priceless headline :P
  5. Moved to tech and 'puters. :)
  6. Bloody brilliant. Too true. One i've been extensively studying in english recently. Incredibly clever hidden meaning.
  7. The Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm. In fact the whole Siamese Dream album.
  8. Buy a dumbell set, and suddenly you have a wealth of home exercises available to you.
  9. So...you'd be bigtime against curing someone of a horrible degenerative disease before they were born?
  10. So what about all those diseases or problems that are not caused due to poor genes and are purely based on circumstance or random chance? Do we treat those but not the genetic diseases? My point is, yes in theory we're spoiling whatever gene pool we might have. But, we don't need natural selection in the same way that other species do. It got us started, but our science is now protecting these "poor genes" that would previously have been lost in the process of natural selection. Let's face it, natural selection will inevitably continue to some extent within our species. The truly weak genes will die out, medical science is still finite and limited. It's not like we're losing the good genes either in our advancement, they're being retained just as strongly (if not more) than the poor genes. In short, not a problem.

Quite clearly the opposite of mine.
  12. For years I thought whenever my friend said "brb" on msn he was letting out some kind of strange burp :?
  13. Bought the Green Mile and Donnie Brasco on dvd recently. Both look worth a watch, I love the Green Mile and haven't seen Donnie Brasco.
  14. Well, if you just want to play, there's loads to choose from. A lot of people recommend Fender Squier starter packs. They're cheap and give you a semi-decent guitar and an amp. I had one, and it wasn't bad at all really for a start. When you feel more confident and want to take it further invest in a better amp. The guitars in those starter packs can actually be okay, take them to your local guitar shop and they can tweak and modify them a bit fairly cheaply for you. The amps are pretty crappy though, invest in a better amp and it'll sound a lot better. Buy a capo as well, they're handy for playing a lot of easy chords.
  15. Moved to music and movies. :) That depends on what kind of music you want to play and your budget.
  16. My innocence, I think.

Give us a clue of what chords you might be using? :P The lyrics sound good but it's hard to tell without a sense of sound.

Everyone raves about Helen Mirren's performance in The Queen, i'm thinking I should see it even though i'll probably find it boring. I'm sure she deserved it though.
  19. What you've described would never hold up in any court of law for child abuse. Although you may disagree with his/her particular style of parenting, that's not your decision. Not all parents are perfect, but neither are all children, in fact none are, and unless you're the parent it's often very hard to know the circumstance and why the parent might be shouting or even resorting to hitting. Obviously genuine child abuse is awful and should be stopped, but although we may not neceassarily agree with it, there are certain aspects of parenting that have to be left to the parents.
  20. Oh my god you listen to a lot of music :P
  21. Ah yes, I completely forgot Jose Gonzalez's cover of Heartbeats, which is my most played song, ever.
  22. There are two topics on roughly the same subject here and here on exactly the same subject. You even posted in the first one before posting this. Also, read this before making another topic. ~Locked
  23. Thank you so much for that enlightened post. Your be-grudging of death on someone specifically because of the music that they are a patron of really is heartwarming, and fills me with hope for today's youth. I've always had a soft spot for the classics, MC Hammer, De La Soul, The Sugar Hill Gang and Vanilla Ice. I don't mind some of Will Smith's songs either.

Bingo, it's an absolute cop-out, and one I scarily used to believe in.
  25. We should never have joined. I don't know much about the specifics, but I remember doing the EU Common Agricultural Policy in geography and what a mess it created, a mess that they're still trying to fix now. That's just one of many.
