  1. He's in the crap for that. Totally illegal and totally corrupt... closest i've personally come was when the police tried to arrest me for throwing biscuits at someones window when i was like 13. hahah. just got took home in a police car. aside from that my friends have been in trouble for fighting before, but nothing really bad. A friend of mine was pulled for being over the limit before, but the officer smelled his breath and said "had to pull you over, you've got your headlights off." didnt clock on at all! my mate genuinely forgets to turn them on a lot, hahah. he was okay though, only a little over the limit.
  2. On the contrary, the french are worse than us for underage drinking problems, hahah. But yeah I see your point, just should have picked a different country ;)
  3. Well, this is certainly going to turn into a deep and insightful debate. Maybe if you don't want people to flame you shouldn't post such idiotic things in the first place. Fair play if you don't like them, but you'll struggle to find people on TIF who really care if you do or not.
  4. There's the authorities for you, just as effective at catching real criminals as they always have been.
  5. A thought just struck me; i've been told before that the country of Italy has almost no alcohol-related problems because people are taught how to drink from a young age, 24/7 drinking is in place, and what they do drink is cheap and readily available. Although the legal age in Italy is 16, this isn't really strictly enforced, and the Italians are known to drink on their front doorsteps with friends socially as part of a community. Now think of the UK's problems relating to drink - Binge drinking, alcohol related violence, people drinking on the streets and causing trouble, loads admitted to hospital because of alcohol abuse (including myself and a friend another time.) What i'm wondering is, maybe the laws on alcohol in the UK are causing problems rather than solving them. I am currently 18 years old and have been drinking since I was around 14. I'm not an alcoholic or anything, but I do enjoy drinking - the problem was that, before I was 18, if you couldn't find a house party or something, you ended up drinking on the streets, and that's where a lot of the trouble is. You can't get served for it yourself - someone else has to, and in your teenage years, you can't afford much - so people go for the strong, cheap stuff, like white cider and vodka. Talking from experience, I can tell you most of them drink as fast as they can to get as drunk as they can, and because they can't handle alcohol, they get into arguements. Then what? Fighting, loud argueing, bottles being thrown, police being called, all on public streets - then, the ever lenient police just break things up and carry on like nothing happened. This may not be the case everywhere, but it certainly is where I live. You can pretend the problem is not there, but it is, and it's not showing any signs of stopping. This brings me to one of my main strifes with the alcohol laws in the UK - the stupid price of alcohol, and just how bloody hard it can be to get. As I said, i'm 18, so just legal to drink in the UK - this is great for me, because well, I enjoy drinking - but sometimes, it's a pain in the arse. My group of close friends consists of both people over and under 18 - but only just really. I have only found ONE bar in the surrounding 3 miles that we actually havn't been asked to leave. I'm not just talking bars, i'm talking family restaraunts, family pubs, and even the local bowling alley, all of which we had visited several times before we were asked to leave. Why? "Underage." One friday night we visited a resteraunt we used to go to a lot - they have never had any problem with us being there, being a family resteraunt. There have been times i've been drinking there and those with us underage havn't been, and once again, absolutley no problem - however, on this particular night, 8 of us sat down to a table in the half-empty resteraunt and were immediately asked to leave. We asked why, and they said "you're underage." After a load of bickering with the waitress about how can we be underage when it's a family pub and none of us even have a drink yet, we called the manager. She was rude, ignorant, and said if we don't leave the police will be called. What I don't understand is what we even did on this occasion and why we wern't allowed to stay in the resteraunt - we were ENTIRELY within the law. So what happened? We got some beer and headed off over a park to get wasted. Because there was nothing else to do. My point is, how can they expect people not to drink anf vodka that costs ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 over in greece costs us ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã15 here. Why? Taxes. The government love to slap tax on alcohol because for all they're concerned they can get away with it - so that's why people reach for the cheap drink. At a pub by me, it costs ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2.90 for a pint of strongbow cider. At that price, you can buy a 2 litre plastic bottle of the exact same brand from any local off license. What're you gonna do? Go over the park or stay on the streets with it. Thus, the problems begin again. My average night out at a pub costs me in excess of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã25 - that's a LOT of money to spend on drinks. I honestly believe that if alcohol was cheaper, the poorer people who drink themselves stupid all of the time would have more money to live a better life, and some of the problems in poorer areas would stop. I think we've got it all wrong when it comes to the laws on alcohol. Maybe if they were loosened a lot, people would in time learn to be more responsible with it, rather than treating it like a huge deal. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Now tell me yours! :)
  6. That would be Dashboard Confessional, and Fall Out Boy were named via they used to play gigs without a name, and they asked the audience to shout out possible names for them, and someone shouted out Fall Out Boy. Hence, FOB were born.
  7. I think that's your problem... They are mixing 0 kinds of "metal" I love Alexisonfire, and this man speaks the truth, they are very much a post-hardcore band - that's an offshoot of the punk genre, kiddo's. I like them. Some people don't. No need to vent on tif really, people probably don't like you but they don't post on forums about it.
  8. Not being able to go to most restaraunts around this area because our friendship group is between the 17 & 18 gap. If we all don't have ID 18+, we're obviously there to cause trouble and drinkunderage. Why you need ID to sit in a family restaraunt and have a meal when kids are allowed in there with their parents is completely beyond me.
  9. Yeah but not on any real exams. Doesn't bother me either way - the world is an unfair place and the jobs you think these grades are going to get you later in life will be given unfairly anyway, so cheating on a test isn't really a big deal to me.
  10. ^^ The Hammersmith really big and popular. You'll like it. ;D
  11. Best: Alexisonfire, cause they're named after a stripper ;) CLSM, because of the controversey - they won't tell anyone what it means, but it's rumoured that they told someone it means The Commitee of Lunacy and Surreal Madness. Explosions In The Sky. Strike Anywhere Worst: (but I like the bands) The Weepies Maroon 5 The Goo Goo Dolls

Love it. But not really as much commercial crap, on the whole the genre has pretty much sold itself out commercially. I love Hybrid, Leftfield, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher etc :)
  13. Hahah, great little philosophy there. Very narrow-minded. ;) They're awesome, loved them since I heard a track on Tony Hawks Underground some years back. Their first album wasn't too strong but Revolutions Per Minute and Siren Song Of The Counter Culture are absolutely awesome. Didn't feel their newest album as much though. Like The Angel, Last Chance Blueprint, Broken English, Voices Off Camera, Blood To Bleed, State Of The Union, Anywhere But Here, Injection, Behind Closed Doors, and Anyway You Want It. Those are the most part of their best imo, but their albums are great all round :)

Okay, i'm in search of some good piano acoustics to listen to! I've been starting to listen to piano music again, but I could use more, so any recommendations would be ace. Artists, pieces, free mp3s, youtube vids. (PLEASE NOTE: This isn't a youtube links topic, but youtube links would be great.) Final Fantasy x-2 - The Wind Crest Ludovico Einaudi - Le Onde One Republic - Apologize (Cover)
  15. Hahah, I go to a music college so there's so I get things like this every day... A lot most people wouldn't understand without some technical knowledge. Let's just say a lot of the less experienced people seem to think they know everything after a couple of hours of studying it when you really have to apply it to situations. Of course the most common is people saying "Classical music is crap, it's all the same. Who listens to it really?" Heh...
  16. http://www.rfugrey.co.uk/material/releases/ Perfect. Such a good bunch of releases here, Sparrowsound's album is ace!
  17. Tonight's been a little on the reminiscent side, and I began to think of something an older friend of mine said to me - "we had friends when I was younger - we went out and found them." Needless to say the internet has given every man here capability to do almost anything - but the question is, are we using it fully? I follow an underground hard dance scene and this year two of the major distributors went completely bust - Amato Distribution and Resist Music. Thanks to this, there is no longer a worldwide vinyl distributor for the scene - and the reason for them going bust is none other than filesharing. This begs the question of what to blame - lack of support altogether, or the fact that people on the internet have too much power for their own good. I remember a day where we used to think copying a tape off a friend was bad because we really really liked a single. We wern't even 10 - and we still bought music on CD and Tape. When's the last time I bought a CD? A fair while ago, considering. I'm beginning to understand the meaning of actually buying all of the music you listen to rather than just listening to it on the internet. The internet has almost destroyed this music scene, and I wouldn't be surprised if this started happening more. I, for one, am switching to iTunes after xmas. actually living my life or just wasting away my days on this thing, and it's becoming very eye opening. For me, the time has come to start working aswell as continuing my studies, start buying music, and stop using the bloody internet so much and actually get a life. It's took me a while to realise, but, the internet is a complete and utter plague. Discuss.
  18. LOL, there's gonna be so much dribbling over the girls on this forum now... anyway, best one i have without looking like a complete trollop [hide][/hide] and just one after I got trashed at an (incredibly boring) 18th birthday party. mate thought he was hilarious taking this, hahah... [hide][/hide]
  19. Problem involving racism = government crap theirselves = government overreact. always happens. you can't censor real life but I bet that's their next step. this is obviously a backlash from that dutch cartoon.
  20. cheers so far, glad you're all positive as i was fully expecting a slating, hahah - can't decide if it looks cheap or not! :/ I'll try and work on the size but the major issue is what's gonna fill room up - I don't want huge open spaces in the content sections you see! thanks for all your comments :)
  21. Free bar. That is all. I want to be put to rest and then everyone to have a really good day, not worry about cash or anything, and just have some fun. Tends to be the trend in my family - we try to make funerals a lot less sad than most people do, it's nice to remember those who've left us, and we're always gonna have the days together on the day of the funeral to remember.
  22. DS, mostly because I prefer the style of gaming on DS. PSP is a bit serious for me...
  23. Someone recently said something to me like "the reason i'm losing my faith is because last time I went to church, not one person bothered to smile at me or wish me well, and everyone looked miserable. Considering this religion preaches love and peace, there doesn't seem to be much of it about at churches."

Journalism and Paparrazi are two completely different things. Well, maybe they're not, but Paparrazi, on the whole, are scum, journalists are not. I wanted to be a journalist when I left school but I decided to chase music instead. There are review writers, news reporters, article writers, fair critics - those are the journalists that I have respect for. Paparazzi, however, prey on people and make their lives hard by shoving their personal life into the public eye. I have no respect for them whatsoever - photographers yes, as in those who take pictures of celebrities on the red carpet at the brit awards - but paparrazi, no.
  25. Were you bullied at school or something? he's only asking for help... Maybe you're stressing out too much, megakiller32. Exams are a stressful time and cramming is what you don't want to do. Instead, take a lot of breaks, enjoy yourself, but still do all your revision, and most importantly figure out what you need to revise the most. You'll find that you'll do fine in life with B's - if it means that much to you to get higher grades, find ways to revise that arn't reading out of books. Try BBC Bitesize, they're great, loads of games and different kinds of revision materials to help you do your best.
