  1. Meh, I haven̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t made a thread for a while and I'm wondering what people think about the game I have been playing ~2 hours everyday for the last week. It seems like first person shooters come out for systems every month now days. Almost all of them trace there roots back the Goldeneye. A game so groundbreaking and enjoyable that people still play it to this day. Goldeneye brought so much to the table: a single player game with near unlimited replay, cheats that are given as rewards for hard work, and a unbeatable multiplayer that would set standard for years to come. The game was made my Rare, the crown jewel of Nintendo even before Square went to Sony. Anyway the game was the standard multiplayer game of its genre for quite some time. There was only other game for the N-64 that can really be compared to it. The game said to be one of the best fps there is, the game said by Gamespot to be ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅTied with Ocarina of Time as the greatest game of all time̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  2. It does add to the sterotype that most games aare violent, but still a great add. I like the look on the guy in the suit when he pulls on gun on one of first 3 people. The camera pans over to him and his facial expression is like "I don't know why I'm doing this... but I am and now there's a gun to your head" :D Good times.
  3. Wow, lol you know I'm bored when I click on "Does your house have stairs?" No offence Sleepy, but that may be the boringest title I have seen in three years on tip.it. :? Anyway, Yes. I have stairs in my house.
  4. I hear you :P College is going to be tough for me, since I'm the smartest in my k-12 high school >.< The mere thought of people being as smart as me makes me twinge :P I know how you felt. I was voted "smartest in my class" and look at my prior post... It does kinda suck, I'm not gonna lie. What's your major? Computer Sci?
  5. I am going to have to cede to you Wyrm. I have read/seen the entire LOTR trilogy, and I have read/seen every book and movie of Harry Potter that is out to date. However, you seem to have a better background then me and I was never terribly avid about the subject so I shall leave the debate to people who have mastered the subject more than I have.
  6. Aye, good post Wyrm. I was exaggerating when I said they were extremely similar. But still, both are black cloaked figures that aren't exactly considered the good guys and they both make you feel cold or helpless when you are near them. True, their appearances are not identical, but in the movies the Nazgul are not shapeless enemities, but upright figures of a dark aura. Exactly the same? No. Quite similar? Yes.
  7. My parents have always been relatively wealthier then average so I don't really get jealous about material things. However last week we got back out Biology mid terms. This is by far the most difficult class I have ever been in and this test was ludicrously hard. I studied no less then 15 hours the day before and I get it back to see a 91/95 as my score with the note "2nd best in this class of 73. Good job!" I get back to my seat kinda pissed off that I was that close when the professor walks in carrying a cardboard tube, the kind used to hold posters. He then says ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅThe scores were below average but Nick here got a 92/95, the highest grade in the class. As a reward for the job well done here̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a metabolic pathway chart, you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll need it in Med School. Its laminated and signed by me.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  8. J.K.R is creative... but no so creative. Demonters are practiacally replicas of the Witch Kings of LOTR, right down to apperace and 'getting cold' side effects. Also the 2 guys, 1 girl teenage magic trio of friends was used in the Diadem series that was popular about 12 years ago. There are many other examples but thats not the point. Perhaps the KKK hats were put in there since they unconsciously represent hatred and evilness; same with the blonde racist people. I doubt it was intentional but I'm sure there was an influence

The average high school kid doesnt really understand how this all works, no offence to many of you. Let me lay down these undisputable facts. - Microsoft is literally making them as fast as they can. CNET has sources saying that workers in China are literally taking the products from the end of the assemby line and immediatly putting them on 747s flying them overseas. (at great cost compared to shipping them) - If you know whats in the Box you would also realize how hard it is to build these things, you can't just go and buy 10 million processors from a supplier and wire them to a mother board and call it an XBox. These units are literally personal Supercomptuers running at well over 10 Ghz with entirly custom parts. You cant supply 50 million XBox's that are entirly custom made with componants that most supplies can't even begin to imagine how to build. Only a select few, smaller companies make these parts which also explaines the higher price tag. - Proof of the aforementioned fact is the "Premium" $400 version and the "Core" $300. The entire reason this strange system excists is not so poorer kids can buy the cheaper one. It excists because Microsoft simply didn't have the time or resources to produce and assemble several million full sets. They sold the ones they had then started giving stores a simpler, cheaper version so they could try and prevent shortages. Granted, they could have pushed the deadline back a month or so but the multi billion dollar Christmas season startes in 3 days. They were cutting it close enouph as is. By the way, I don't know why I'm arguing for Microsoft. I'm a Nintendo fanboy :)
  12. I just posted something on the wrong topic (this one)... uh I guess I can come up with an arguement on the spot since I can't delete this post... The US coming in for oil makes no sence. First off we spent over 50 billion on the war and reconstruction. 50 billion $$$ is a lot. I don't think selling oil will pay off. Especially because were not even producing oil there. Iraqi oil output has fell 50 some percent since the invasion, and guess what Iraqis are still in control of the shipments and they are the only ones getting the profit, not the US.

Marketing stunt? When it comes to marketing if there one man in the world I wouldn't question it would be Bill Gates. I think he knows what he's doing when it comes to these sorts of things
  14. That's life dude. My friend had a teacher that simply refused to give As unless you did extra credit. Her grading scale was this 0-70 F 70-80 D 80-90 C 90-100 B 100-105 A- 106+ A And the tests were extremly hard, average score was an 80 or so. The teacher belived that since "C " is defined as average, over half of the class should get a C. The school board let her do what she wanted.

Mr Putter, the store had them for sale for an HOUR!?!?! Jeez! Wow, lucky dude, LUCKY. I'm not a big consul player these days but my room mate is. At 7pm yesterday he left to wait at the local Super Wal-Mart for the midnight release. He got there and there were 25 people in line ahead of him, even though he was 5 hours early. Soon the manager came out and said they only had 18 systems to sell :/ My friend comes back heart broken and I point out that there is a Target nearby, they open at 7am. He has class at 8:30am so if he wanted to wait outside all night he could get one. He was out the door before I finished my sentence and I called my friend that worked there for a count on how many units they had. They had 6 premium and 10 of the cheaper version. It turns out that my room mate was the 14th person there and the 16th arrived at 8:20pm. Over 11 hours before the selling of the 360 even began, every unit in the city of 50,000 was essentially sold. It was 12 degrees Fahrenheit (-11 Celsius) and that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s without the 15mph wind chill. Freezing rain fell at 5am. No one ever left the line. About 12 hours later, and 20 minutes before class I am brushing my teeth noting that there's a blizzard outside. Suddenly my door is opened and a frozen, exhausted, nearly unconscious roommate steps in and literally collapses onto the floor. Clenched in his frozen hand is a large white and green box and a receipt. I help him up and he tells me that the first 6 people took the 6 premiums so he had to get the cheaper version, he was very disappointed. I gave some hot coco advising him to shower and change since were down to 20 minites or so before class but he lauphs and turns on the TV "No way in 'heck' am I not starting this thing up before I go" Here's what I noticed as the system was set up and turned on. - The system is smaller then the original XBox but the power supply was MASSIVE. Cut a normal XBox in half and that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the size of a the power supply. The electrical cord running to the power supply was as thick as my thumb. Yea, were talking power here. - The controllers are very GameCube-like. Extremely well balanced and identical to the Cube's controllers but above the right analog (C stick on Nintendo) they have 4 buttons for your thumb and instead of just one L and R button there are 2 of each. Also the controller its either wireless or it uses a USB connection. :? Very odd to see them on a controller but this is MicroSoft and you can use them on your PC if you want. Cool. - He put in ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅCondemned̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  16. Nice! I like that version, rolls off the tongue like something a mother tells her kids. ^^
  17. I doubt many people are even still reading these, they just come to post their own thinking that its the coolest one yet when in fact barly anyone will even read it :? Anyway, I actually try to live by these quotes. 1. "You only want you don't have" Seriously I can NEVER day that enouph. I don't care if your talking about an iPod, a girlfriend, the size of your bank account, PS2 games, the time of the day, your skill total in RS, advances in technology, or even world peace. From personal experiance 95% of people who I tell the quote to will say "Well duh, you can't want a glass of water if there's already one in your hand" Common sense. But a rare few will actually get it. It just clicks with them and they will remember it forever. 2. People find life entirly too time consuming Also known as "Don't dwell on the past or dream about the future, Live in the present" I am totally guilty of this. I am always looking foward to what's going to happen next. I never really enjoy the moment until it passes me by :( But thats just me. Go ahead and post your own comidic quotes thinking everyone will love them. Chances are they will read the quote and move on without even looking at the name of the poster. I wonder why I still post here :/
  18. You make it sound like there were 2 752 people as ignorant and nonchalant as he. You're not making a point, you're undermining people's intelligence and selflessness. No I was simply making a point that its human nature to not care about something unless its part of your life. However once it is part of your life... its too late. I can imagine WW2 is your mindset was chared by the Allies. Poland: "France, Britain, help! I'm being invaded!" France: "Soo... what? I not being invaded. Thats not a part of my life" Unfortunaltly to some extent that belief was common in the US back then and apparently its still common around the world in present day.
  19. *listens to the song* Wow, an exact match, thanks. :) I did some research and the song Gimme Gimme came out late 1979, early 1980. It was a world wide hit a mere 4 years before the NES was released... That means Madonna didn't copy the music from the NES... the NES copied music from Madonna! :D Well sort of, but still I bet the Nintendo producers were influenced a little, I mean that tune just screams Megaman era gaming
  20. I'm sure most of you have heard Hung Up, the new Madonna song. If not go to www.madonna.com and the entire song will play, its not bad. Anyway I have heard it 3 times on the radio, each time I was with someone else. Each time I heard it the person I was with said the backround melody sounds like this NES game they knew. One went as far as to say it sounded like the game Astanax. Anyone agree or have any vague idea about what I'm talking about?
  21. Wow where to start... :/ - Who doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t run from the police? Is that honestly a question? If your not doing drugs or something illegal don't run from the cops, you've been watching to many action movies , cops aren't bad guys, they exist to protect you. If they yell stop, stop and if need be pay the 20 dollar fine or whatever, you have no idea how hard their job is without everyone simply running away. Then realize that even if that law stops a single terrorist on the run 20 years from now the law will have saved many lives. - Phone taps?. What ever happened to privacy!? I will never understand this fear of having your phone tapped. What do you people fear? Are you scared that soon you won't be able to talk about drugs with your buddies? Are you worried that the CIA will listen in to you telling you friend about what you did to your girlfriend last night? First off if they find out how would that affect you in any way, especially if you didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know about it? Secondly do you honestly think the government has the resources to tap random people?!?! LOL! The CIA has a backlog of months worth of audio tapes from wire taps of suspected terrorists in the Middle East, I doubt they will spend their valuable time listening to 14 year old Sussy tell her bbf that she has a crush on John . Terrorists laugh at our system, they know that they can talk about who they are going to kill over public phones and they do it everyday knowing that cops need a warrant to listen in. I have nothing to hide if my phones are tapped, and I know that the cops wouldn't even think about wasting their time on my house. - I dont care about terrorism Its not apart of my life. Thats what 2,752 people thought on September 10th, 2001
  22. Read what you wrote. In its opening week it sold 185k and in the DS's opening week it sold 87k. Yes, the PSP sold extremly well the first week but after that week sales have plumited in comparison to the DS. Thats what the facts everyone else posted are saying.
  23. People say sales mean squat but basic economics states that developers would much rather invest in a system that a larger audiance then a system that doesnt sell as well.
  24. Yea, Google gets 100billion $ in revenue a year. In compariosn the 60 year old computer giant HP earns less then 18% of that. Rumors have it that Google is amasing its resources and plans to make a move that threatens Microsoft's software dominance (a Google OS)
  25.
