Find the coolest picture from Google Maps (or Earth) and screenie and post it!

If you want to include a witty caption, it's certainly within your rights...

I will allow uni/college pics as long as you're not giving details about where you stay or where you are going to be at certain times.

There was even a thread on OT a while ago - Post your uni pics.

This guy built his own version of Google Earth, but that's not the point. He also zoomed in on lots of cool places with direct links to them. They're all halfway down the page(ish).

Also where i live (Leeds, the UK) there is an exhibition in the city millenium square, with lots of very large photos taken with google earth, of the most spectacular shots they could find. Some of the things really are breathtaking, but i can never seem to find them when i try :(

I love searching those google maps, I was seeing the whole world one day. I dont think I looked for any particular buildings, just random cities.

I'd post a picture of my boring old neighborhood, but it has all the street names on it. And if you zoom out more, you can't see the detailed boringness.

this is pretty cool, but i have a question, :?:

i've got a pretty detailed up close view of above my neighborhood, but when i zoom out, to the whole city, its just a square that is nice and detailed everything out of that square is green, and when i try to zoom in of the city south of mine, it just stays green and wont go into fine detail like the other one....

how come?

Neocrosby - it's because the sattellite imagery isn't complete. The sattellites can only take pictures of certain areas at a time, and there's certain areas that just haven't been photographed yet. Also, some areas with really high-quality images are arial photos as opposed to sattellite photos.

Gah, i wish they'd give us access to those nifty American spy satellites that can read car number plates and stream live...now that would be interesting 8)
