How many push-ups can you do?
Am I the only one who thinks 50 or 60 pushups is pretty good? Let's just say I can do between 20 and 40..... 21, maybe? My excuse is that I'm really lanky. Push-ups are harder with really long arms  Ask me about pull-ups 8)

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen, the best song ever?
Actually, that song has some incredible music in it. Maybe you don't like it, but there's some pretty complex chord changes in there. I'd say it's pretty respectable. I don't think it's number one, though. It's good, but it's more fun and funny than powerful.

Best solo ever?
Ever heard of Eric Johnson? No? Me neither, until a few days ago, when I heard "Cliffs of Dover." It's not an absolute solo, because there are drums playing underneath him, but mostly, it's just him on guitar doin his thing, and its pretty freickin awesome :D Find it and listen to it if you can.

The next evolve?
Ever read the beach? ever hear about nuclear winter. case closed :P hmm...good point there. But I'm sure there are places that would avoid raditation damage, and then its just a climate change. Correct me if I'm wrong, I honestly don't know that much about it.

Stolen baby pengiun
If that's the only reason, then probably the thief is a complete idiot. Thus, they will be caught fairly soon. Seriously, why would anyone steal a frickin penguin?

The next evolve?
People say this all the time, that we're going to kill ourselves and destroy the human race. But even if the ice caps melt and all the superpowers of the world start lobbing nukes at each other tomorrow, the human race will survive. Civilization as we know it may be doomed, and radiation might make huge areas of land uninhabitable, but humans can always survive somewhere. I mean, there are tribes in the Amazon that have never had contact with the rest of civilization. Will they be affected by a nuke in Rio de Janeiro? Probably not. As for what we will evolve into, that is tough to say. In our current situation, there is no natural selection. Genes have very little to do with who actually survives to reproduce. We value certain qualities (strong, tall, smart) but these qualities have very little effect on whether we can reproduce or not. Virtually anyone can pass on their genes in today's world. I would say our evolution has stalled, because there is practically no pressure weeding out the inferior genes. Once the human race reaches a crisis and there really is competition to live and produce offspring, then those with better genes will dominate, and natural selection and evolution will resume. The question is, what will the "better genes" be? Possible crisis that will face humanity are overpopulation, meteor impact, climate change, nuclear armageddon (sp?), biological threat such as a deadly disease, etc. In all of these scenarios, the "better genes" for survival will involve physical strength or speed, not necessarily intelligence. Sure, our current society values intelligence, and people are getting fatter and more dependent on technology. But once people have to fight to survive, the genes that will be favored and perpetuated are all about physical prowess, not mental agility. We might still be smart if it is beneficial to our survival. But our evolution will be in our bodies somehow. Simply put, our evolution will probably not involve too much technology.

Election Fraud
Probably, there were less registered voters in Ohio than there were votes for Bush from all states combined. There are better ways of criticizing Bush than trying to prove election fraud from a year ago. If you really want to dethrone this "monster, this coward, that we have empowered," you'll have to find something new, like bad or illegal policies.

Any Food fethishes?
Yorkshire pudding has a lot of egg in it, I think. I'm not sure. Sheperds pie is like chicken pot pie, only instead of chicken its ground beef, and instead of pie crust / pastry thingy, there's mashed potatoes. Excellent stuff

Iran's President Bans Western Music
"Backwards" is the key word here. I think that means that the people themselves elected a backwards government leader. Looks like trouble in the middle east will be around for a long time yet...

SAVE Tookie
I'm going to assume that my post got lost in the middle of the third page and no one read it. So I'll post my idea again: This guy has not reformed. Here is an editorial from the Boston Globe, one of the most liberal newspapers in the entire country... He has not actually reformed. If he had, and it was genuine, maybe there would be a legitimate argument in granting him clemency. But the fact is that he has not reformed. He is still a criminal. Maybe you don't like the death penalty in general (understandable), but there is no way you can say this guy is just a big ol' teddy bear who deserves to walk free. He deserves to be punished under the law.

Emo
I dunno if that can be argued or not, but I will say this: You admit that NOT ALL emo music sends bad messages. Therefore, maybe you should be tolerant of the good emo? Meaning you can't make blanket statements such as "the whole genre sucks." I dunno if MOST emo music is bad or not. But I do know that SOME doesn't actually send the whiny suicidal message. Therefore, you can't hate the ENTIRE genre. By all means, hate bad music and stupid attitudes. I do too. But you just admitted that SOME emo is not like that. SOME of it is worthwhile. So you can't hate ALL of it, so you can't hate the ENTIRE genre. That's all I want to make you admit, that it's wrong to hate the entire genre. ------------------------ For the record: I apologize if I have been disrespectful in any of my posts on this thread. I tried to make my posts arguments instead of flames or insults, and I tried to not get carried away, because I enjoy a nice, respectful debate. I really am sincerely sorry if I was too sarcastic or accusing. I won't hold any grudges and I hope no one else does. I just like to argue. I'm sticking with the statement you quoted from me. I'll settle for that 8)

How were you raised?
It is when you go to a big school :x No, having fun is more important than winning. Oftentimes, winning is required if you want to enjoy yourself, but this isn't always true. Even at a big school, I think there are ways to enjoy yourself without always focusing exclusively on winning. Be optimistic, because winning isn't everything. It's something, but not everything. Even if it seems otherwise

Emo
If I am repeating myself (I don't think I am), it is because you have yet to specifically refute my core argument: Matthius posts show clearly that not all emo kids are not about suicide, whining, etc. Therefore, not all emo music is purely about suicide etc, either. Therefore, to say that all emo music is stupid and worthy of hatred is wrong. We have specific examples of cases in which emo music is not suicidal but actually uplifting. Therefore, you need to get over your stereotype and realize that although many emos may take their emotions too far, that is not what all (or maybe even most) emos are like. If you condemn the entire genre, you condemn personally reasonable people who happen to enjoy emo music. What part of that logic is faulty?

Emo
This is a joke, right? I mean, yeah, if one had the time to scour the world's music, and painstakingly decipher every song, every genre would have at least one or two songs that pertain to this behavior. HOWEVER, not metal, nor rap, nor anything else can boast an ENTIRE genre based around suicide, depression, and whining, like emo does. THE FACTS supercede all. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know everything. Maybe you could be the second. Their are plenty of "emos" on this forum who have posted why they listen to emo. From what they wrote, the reason they like those songs has nothing to do with suicide, depression, or whining. "The facts" are that emo is not an entire genre devoted to suicide, depression, or whining. Period, end of "the facts." To define the entire genre based solely on your pre-conceived notions is a gross generalization. It's like saying all metal is about violence, darkness, and suicide. It's simply not true. So what you say in one argument isn't necessarily true in another argument? :? You don't care for scene kids, but emo kids are different. AKA, it's not the entire genre that's objectionable. So maybe, just like any other genre, you shouldn't hate the whole genre because one small sub-group of it is stupid posers? I'm with Althalus. "Can we all get along?" ---------------------------------- EDIT: MyPurpleCrayon, Matthius has already explained the difference. He's already explained why he listens to emo. [sarcasm]btw, I see all those Reel Big Fish kids at my school every day, and they're all the same. They think they're distinctive and cool and superior just because they wear tye-dye. They're all just arrogant weirdos who look exactly the same and whine about how no one understands how individual they are.[/sarcasm] ^That's you. That's what you sound like. I'm so sick of having my posts divied up and parts used to draw meaningless comparisons. Okay, I'll quote in full then. I'm still going to break your posts apart and examine them point by point, though. If you object to that, I'm afraid you won't go very far as a proffessional arguer. So here, broken up but preserved in full... I apologize. I am not up-to-date on my stereotypical labels. My bad. (I knew that part of your post was way too easy to discredit...I shoulda known I was making a mistake  ) Did you even read Matthius' post? Does he seem like he's ALL about suicide, whining, and complaining? And how on earth does being emotional mean you're a whiner? That's a pretty big leap. Most music tends to be pretty emotional. That's why we listen to it. Just because emo is actually labelled 'emotional' doesn't mean all of a sudden emotion is a bad thing. :? You're right, the messages between emo and Reel Big Fish (I don't even know the genre, sorry) are completely different. However (and this goes for MyPurpleCrayon too), the comparison I am making is that you are being incredibly judgemental about a perfectly legit genre of music, just like Reel Big Fish haters trash an attitude that they simply don't appreciate. MyPurpleCrayon, of course you haven't worn a tyedyed shirt in your life. You don't fit the stereotype. Just like not all emos fit the stereotype. I wasn't judging Reel Big Fish fans. I thought that would be clear when I put the sarcasm label around my words... Here's the comparison I was actually making.... You like your music and the message that comes with it. Some people don't appreciate that message, and make judgemental generalizations, stereotyping you and assuming you are some weirdo idiot snob obsessed with your individuality. These judgemental people are what we call closed-minded and hateful people. Emos like their music and the message that comes with it. You don't appreciate (meaning enjoy) that message, and you make generalizations, stereotyping and assuming that all emos are idiots obsessed with their emotions. You are what we call a closed-minded and hateful person. Is the comparison clear now? Again, I point to Matthius' posts. He seems like he's just a kid "harmlessly enjoying his music." Therefore, it's not such a big issue. Emo is just another genre of music. The evidence is right in front of you, proving that emo is not all about suicide etc, all you have to do is read Matthius' post. EDIT: Stevester, teach me to be concise like you :(

Favorite Christmas Carol?
I love that one. It's a tune made perfectly for old church ladies  I'm not particularly religous, but Ive sang a lot of Christmas carols, and I always kind of liked "Here We Come A-Wassailing." I don't even know what that means, but it's my defining tune of good cheer :D
