Looking at these pics, it's gonna be a lot harder to clean off the backgrounds and make them transparent, if that is the goal. Might want to go back to low detail - I predict the revised monsters will look the same at every detail level? (I could be wrong - let me know!)

Bestiary pics normally get a 1-pixel black outline on them. I'm betting the crew has this in their extensive queue of "things to do". However, in the absence of any pic I've uploaded yours and credited you. If another user submits a better pic or someone gets around to making the outline pic, that's also great and we'll be happy to upload it. :) Thanks very much for the pic!

1. Do the BKQ tree spirits give low xp for combat, as the other randoms do? (1 xp for every 4 damage inflicted, instead of ~4 xp for every 1 damage inflicted, so 1/16 the normal xp?) 2. Are their drops are different from the typical "random" tree spirit? I suggest looking at those two issues before evaluating whether they warrant a separate entry. However, the decision is up to the Bestiary Crew. :)

Our researchers mostly deal with transparent images for the items database, and the Bestiary also uses transparency to show the monster off without background noise. We use GIFs for this. Please understand that our suggested policies were developed after years of working with users. They are not the result of sheer ignorance - they are the result of having many users go to a great deal of effort to obtain images that we simply can't use (for example, blurry jpgs from older versions of Paint). That's frustrating on all sides, and the suggested image formats are devised to avoid this. Yes, there are times when a GIF isn't as good as a PNG - there are even times when we use quality JPGs on the site :o but they are far between, and those cases all relate to screenshots with backgrounds, or quest maps, not images for the databases. I won't even argue with you about formats etc because it just doesn't matter. If you find fault with our policy of suggested formats for database submissions, you can post pictures in whatever format you like, and we will use or not use your pictures depending on if they are of workable quality. The guidelines are simply to help the average user submit a pic that meets our needs with the least wasted effort on both sides. We appreciate everyone who wants to participate in improving the website. If you have further issues, please take them up with an admin. Our graphics admin Alduron is currently on leave, but feel free to have a discussion with him on this subject upon his return.

For making item pics, please turn your ingame brightness all the way up. Take the picture on a bank background if at all possible. If you can, clear off the background but leave the drop shadow next to the item. Crop the picture to 40x40. If you can make the background transparent, that's awesome, but if not, one of our fine specialists (lol) can do that.

sorry I didn't mean by comparison to the same type of fishing ... I meant comparing the xp per hour of barbarian ROD fishing to other types of speedy xp fishing: which are fly-fishing and monkfishing (possibly not in the running compared to the other two, I dunno). But absolutely producing different types of fish and at different locations. The idea would be to identify the ultimate best fishing training per hour. :) Barbarian Rod vs. Fly-fishing

I agree with manoman - I do not believe any substantial difference was experienced when the training was released. Also your level (97) may or may not play into it - we'd need several people of different levels to try it out. I'd be interested in knowing if barbarian rod fishing (leaping fish) is faster or slower xp than other types of traditional fishing (monkfish or fly fishing) ... that would also be useful. We can leave this thread open for a while to see if anyone else can provide data on this subject or others ... or we can archive it and watch for someone else to post. Sorry that the Safari people didn't get this fixed in their latest version. People started posting about the problem a few months ago, so it may be possible that an older version of Safari might help? I wish there was something we could do for you guys, but the problem is evidently in Safari. :(

oh, didn't realise this thread was still out here. :oops: A great deal of work was done in the last 2-3 months - it's been wiped from the forum but hopefully it exists on the PCs of crewbies. It's possible that they've all been done. An important part of the effort is not only transparentizing, but cropping the picture to be 40x40 which is what the database requires - that's why the existing database picture of a rake is all squished. Thanks SO much for wanting to help, and thanks to all the people who have participated so far. Hopefully the pics will get uploaded soon! Locking this thread for now until the responsible Crewbies decide what they want to do. :)

I was all excited by the level of detail in your post, until I got to the last line "all from Runescape Knowledge Base." We do check the Knowledge Base (KB) when we write or update our guides, but the KB definitely has made mistakes in the past, and Tip.It was providing guides for many, many years before Jagex created the KB. So ... we don't simply take their word for it, lol. What we need from you, our users, is to post information that you yourself have experienced in the game: loot, levels, etc. That's the most helpful thing you can do! (Thanks, though, for wanting to help.)

Thanks for bumping the topic. :) People are wanting to know what else we need, basically. Looks like we need someone to collate the data collected thus far, if that makes any sense? I have the attention span of a squirrel, so I can't do it ... a volunteer would be great (crewbie or not). It's possible that Allbogs (our calculator Crewbie) has already been collecting this data, so maybe we can check in with him - he usually turns up on Tuesdays.

The Tech Admins are already aware of it, but they spent many hours today working on the forum and it was time for them to take a break. Will get fixed tomorrow I'm sure. In the meantime please feel free to use other board styles which are available under User Controls - Board Preferences. ;)

No, Jagex has definitely stated that the type of log does not affect the burning time.

I think it would make more sense to continue posting on that one, actually. Which would bump it up to where others can see it. :)
