:P Between these 2, I have to say the first one (GIMP). Second one is monochrome, that made the difference.

Thanks for your input :) Are you photographing alot these days? Im looking forward to new photos of you ;)
-
Then I enter this, as expected: Could a moderator insert a poll? We can forget about the categories.

Thanks alot everyone for the comments  The 'boring' part was aimed at the birds-photo, I could imagine that people think its boring because nothing seems to happen ;) I try to stay away from photographing my pets lately, they are a popular subject but I wont improve by doing the same over and over again. Especially at Deviantart, you can become a star just by photographing on a cat. It doesnt require much skill to photograph a cat (thats not always true, if you do something nice with the lighting/background) but people will like those kind of photos, just because it has a 'cute cat' in it. I will post photos of my pets once the photos are interesting enough, so its not over yet :) To those who care, she became a little fatter and her head grows. She is still naive when it comes to authority from other cats, she simply walks wherever she wants to :P

Thanks, yes its a school which doesnt exist that long. It cost several millions to build, and they're still not 100% done building it. From the stories Ive heard, it has this tree in the center of it. :l

2 new photos from me, I like them both so here they are. [hide=Silhouette][/hide] ^I like this one alot because of its shapes. If you think its boring, explain why. [hide=Metzo][/hide] ^(Metzo is the name of the school) My second serious attempt at architecture photography, Im lucky to live near this thing :) Will also enter this for the competition. Click on the photos to go to the Deviation link. CC welcome.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDR_photo Canon 350D? So you are getting rid of your Nikon gear? (I assume you used Nikon, not sure) Good choice, I still use it

Friends usually know nothing about photography, but its always good to try out their view on things (unless you know for sure it wont work) ;) You're improving, but your scenes are still too close from home. That doesnt have to be a bad thing, but you will learn alot at places where you havent been before. The danger in staying in your familiar area is that you stick to your basic settings, and you will not go anywhere else because you simply dont want to. I'm sure that there are some great things to find near you. 6: Your sensor tried to put the sun in detail, so it completely blacked the trees out. If you really want to put detail in the trees in a situation like that, you could always try to make a HDR. But I mostly avoid those situations when the sun is too bright, it wont work out well. And the last one kind of looks like a scene that I see when I wake up.

No, you cant enter portraits.. :-w  Ok, bad joke. Are these the only participants? Navyplaya is busy in real life, so he probably wont enter. I asked Zargo, still no reply back :geek: I hope some more will enter, but the number of entries is more important.

Its simple, there's nothing she can do about it and she has to accept it. What kind of a tattoo is it? Is it big/small?
-
Haha, fix those shorts  The fur in the original photo had that certain shape, but it looks strange if you vectorize it. Keep it up. I never finish those big projects because I get bored of it most of the time. :)

15 year old kids that brag about their amazing Photoshop skills. They say: 'Can you give me the photos so I can photoshop them?' 'No worries, I can photoshop that out' as if they have got the magic tool that makes them pro. And my sister that keeps on burping and farting during dinner, while she knows I hate that. Ofcourse I do that too (moderately) but she's a girl.. :|

Im just not as interested in moderating anymore, I just dont like it as much as I used to. And yes, college is going to take up alot of time so thats another reason to stop :(

I feel like organizing a challenge. To get some more enthusiastic participants, I decided to add 2 different categories that you may enter. If you want to enter one and you dont like the other one, then enter your photo for 1 category. But if you like both categories, enter 2 photos. Theme 1: Light trails. Examples Theme 2: Architecture. Examples -No size limit, but please crop it so people with smaller screens can see it properly. -You have to decide wether you manipulate it or not, a heavily manipulated photo doesnt have to be better than a less-manipulated photo. -The photo has to be made this week. -You have 1 week to enter your photo. -Voting will start next sunday, and it will end somewhere during that week. -I will not add the entries to the first post during the competition, because I have more important stuff to do :( -I would appreciate it if a moderator would add the entries to the first post, but its no necessity. Thats it, go out and have fun :) Entries: [hide=lukabo969][/hide] [hide=runemetsa][/hide] [hide=woopidoo2][/hide]

1. I havent got a clue what those magazines are like, I mostly read Zoom.nl which is a dutch magazine, probably the best mag around. (Zoom.nl is the name of the magazine, but its a mag and website in one) 2. You could try to do some research on lenses that replace your kitlens if you use it alot, there are alot of better alternatives available that are alot sharper and probably with the f2.8 possibility. If you are into macro photography, you could buy some macro filters which are a cheap alternative for a real macro lens but they arent that good if you are serious enough. If you want to do it all right in once, get a true macro lens. 3. Simple: Get a circular polarizer. Those things can cost alot, but they are worth it. Ive got this one, the screen doesnt become as black as his though :) 4. Hmm.. NGC is very known at photographers mainly for their magazines, but I do recommend another one. Take a look at Lowepro bags, those bags are probably the best ones around. They are weather proof, cold/heat proof, very protective. I bought a ''mini trekker classic'''and I will not need a new one for the next 10 years or so. And you might also get a weather-bag to cover your bag with in extreme weather conditions, for free. 5. Its good for now. I dont think you need any more MP, noise, or frames per second. Push your D40 to its limits, and learn from it until you really need a new body.

He simply wants you to get used to shooting in black and white, which is understandable. If you really cant shoot in sepia/black and white, just convert the photos to sepia and b+w later on. He wont see the difference, and I think Lightroom 2 can convert many images into a certain color so that could help you too.

I used to suffer pretty much from acne from 12-15 , until I went to see a doctor. He gave me this great stuff that really helps, and I still use it every day accompanied by a softer kind of ointment, it looks like water but it has a strong scent and it kills most of the germs. One thing that many people forget, is to relax. Your acne could become alot less active when you simply stop worrying about things, it does in my case. I could skip the ointment for some days during my vacation time, in example.

Thanks for the advice, my mother asked me if we should go buy it today and because I need it next week, I said yes :D I'm really looking forward to it, should be a great deal.
-
Alright, thanks for the advice. =D> 1. Like I said, my dad promised me that he will not spend more than 500 on my laptop. If I want anything above 500, I have to pay the rest myself. I thought, 800 is too much but I do want to spend an extra 165 on this one (Price: 665) 2. Power - as in battery life? If so, yes I do prefer a nice battery, considering I will use it at school without adapting it to the net every 45 minutes. My dad has one of those laptops, a Fujusi (sp?) Siemens, now thats a crappy laptop. It has to be adapted to a power supply, because it simply cant survive long without. I am studying to be a Graphic Designer, I will build websites - Posters - Advertisements - 'write an immersive space' etc, that means I will use Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator alot. 3. I do want a good laptop, the 3GB internal and 320GB hard disk are pretty awesome compared to my own home computer (which I'm writing from) with 250GB + 2GB. And I have only 22gb free space left, but thats another problem. About the UT2004 thing: I played that game with this computer without any lag, but seriously, its a bad game. I played it for like 2 weeks, but never again. I might try to play some Call of Duty 2 on it though.

I am going to college, and the purchase of a laptop is required. I have found a nice one (at least, I think) but I could use some advice too. http://www.hd.nl/p/HP/FP681EAABH (Dutch link, I cannot find an English or American link) [hide=Specs]Specs: -HP DV5-101ED -15.4 " -1280 x 800 Pixels -1,9 GHz -Level 2 cache 1 MB -AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor for notebook pc's QL-60 4 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI-connector, 1 eSata-connector, 1 VGA-poort, 1 RJ45 Ethernet-connector, 2 hoofdtelefoonuitgangen, 1 microfooningang, 1 IEEE 1394 Memory: Internal memory 3072 MB Memory layout (1 x 1024 MB + 1 x 2048 MB) Hard Disk -320 GB -5400 RPM Weight and Sizes 35,7 cm (B) x 25,9 cm (l) x 3,49 cm (min. h) / 4,19 cm (max. h) -2,65 kg[/hide] It costs 665.00 EUR or 979 USD. Is it worth it? My dad will pay the first 500EUR, I have to pay the rest. I will probably use this laptop for 4 years. Any advice is appreciated.

I think its a bit too busy. The viewer will get blown away by everything in the design, and the text is low-qual too. Try to look at other album covers, and get some ideas that makes your album cover 'out of the ordinary'. Then, you start to make your own plan for your cover. ;)

Maybe we could also insert different categories, like: Photoshop Tutorials, Gimp Tutorials, Illustrator Tutorials (That one could also be called 'Other Tutorials', since there only seems to be 1 active Illustrator user) Or: Signature Tutorials Photo Manipulation/Enhancement tutorials Graphic Tutorials Vector Tutorials.
-
Ive done some pretty detailed tuts, over a year ago. I might enter, and if I will it will be a photo manipulation tutorial. My abstract sig-knowledge comes nowhere near to those that still make sigs, I quit that many months ago :P

Do they even have gangsta rap in Russia?! http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=2cvo3YVOVtY :geek: Apparently.
