  1. Well, I'm unable to look up this f2pers adventure log. But the odds of receiving a drop from a lvl 85 slayer monster is roughly .05%, so the odds of receiving two after killing two is (.05%)^2 or .0025%, or rather 1 in 40,000.
  2. Meh, The article outlines that these players were hacked. This violates one of many cyber-crimes usually encapsulated under "misuse of a computer", however there are different clauses. There is a big difference between obtaining information on another ones account through illegal means and selling virtual currency. TLDR: I believe Mercifull is comparing apples to oranges.
  3. I've discussed this with two of my buddies who are currently in Law School. Pretty much they summed it up with digital property rights are very not defined well when it comes to international law. However, the whole "paying for time" loophole would not apply, if within the US for the simple fact that: Jagex does own the digital property and this is acknowledge by our laws. Jagex owns the process of obtaining these items. To pay someone for the time using Jagex's process would entitle Jagex some portion (possibly the whole amount) of the proceeds. Grant it, this would require Jagex to put the proper documents in place, but that's not very difficult.
  4. As been said, getting someone's IP is fairly simple to do(However associating an IP with a runescape account could be more difficult, although I could think of a few ways to do it). I really doubt Jagex would unlock someones account based on only IP. If the person had access to previous passwords, that would be another step in the right direction, however I have had to recover my account before, and with all accurate information, except bank card details, it took me many attempts to get my account. I can only imagine how long it would take without accurate information.
  5. You have no idea what this man did, but are judging him based off of a conviction he received. He could be some douche bag child molester. On the other hand, he could be a guy who had pictures of 17 year old girls on his computer who claimed they were 18. We all are going to have an opinion on this based on our experiences. The reason I hate the sex offender registry is because your name NEVER comes off it. This is something that can ruin peoples lives, and the system is easily abused. One of my very good friends in college (and high school) was convicted a crime that landed him on the sex offender registry. The only crime he was guilty of? Being in the wrong place with the wrong woman. To keep the story short, my friend got involved with a girl who had a reputation for "being easy" one night at a party. My friend was a stellar athlete in high school and college, and he had a near 4.0 GPA his junior year. He was an attractive guy, and often hit it of well with woman. The next night, this same girl shows up another party we are at, and upon finding out that my friend was "talking" to a different girl that night, proceed to walk up to the new girl, and in private, told her that she was raped by my friend the previous night. The previous woman than decided to file a police report, the next morning. My friend went to court of the whole situation, and the judge took the "better to be safe than sorry" route, and it ended up getting plead down to a lesser sexual offense. He graduated college summa [bleep] laude as a college level athlete, however he was rejected from med school, and instead now earns roughly half of what I make, regardless of the fact that he was a better student. So that is my story for giving the man the benefit of the doubt. Now I don't expect you to share why you don't, as I understand it could be very traumatic, however I simply would like to point out that you really don't know any of the details to be saying this person isn't worthy of the title "human".
  6. Exactly. I'm sure some sex offenders are predators in the stereotypical sense. I'm also equally sure that some sex offenders are normal people who don't have the self-control to keep their sexual urges in check. And in a society that discourages self-control, I'm not at all surprised to see this happening frequently. Blyaunte: I find it interesting that in your post you make it quite clear that you discourage your kids from applying a label of "black and white" to anything; and then you go on to do exactly that with your description of sex offenders. Forgive me if this seems naive, but I'm more inclined to listen to the opinion of someone who's been abused rather than someone who's judging from an armchair. Where did you get the idea that I've never been abused? Well, you didn't mention you had been, so I assumed you hadn't. Way to reply to my whole post btw ;) I'm sorry -- was there something else you wanted me to reply to? Your previously dismissive tone indicated to me that you had no interest in anything I had to say on the subject because you believed I had no first-hand experience on the subject matter -- about which you are mistaken -- and really, I am not inclined to get into another shouting match with a moderator who's inclined to ban me for talking out of turn the moment the conversation gets heated. If there is there a double-entendre in my previous statement to which you feel the need to take issue, I certainly don't see it. Once I ran into a black woman who was hostile and opinionated. I am going to go ahead and take your views as hostile an opinionated because every black woman must be. Just like every person who has been convicted of a sexual crime must not be humane. Stereotyping is so much fun.
  7. What does that have to do with anything? There really isn't a permanent stabilization price. I mean there are obvious boundaries like it won't go for less then it's high alch price and things like that but there's no telling how much prices will drop. Well, it means that roughly 20kish of the active users on at any moment are likely dung bots. Or on average, maybe about 2/3rds of that number. That is one single bot, that people are willing to pay money for. So it does have some relevance. As for the prices dropping. Supply and demand. Obviously supply is really never going down, and as more and more people see less need for a whip as more people are able to use chaotics, the demand for the whip should fall. On the other side of the argument is the fact that many of these gold farmers are semi low level accounts that are created at a fast rate, meaning they don't waste the 3-4weeks it takes to get 80 dung. They are likely one means of keeping the price stable, as they will always produce demand for the whip.
  8. I'm actually shocked it took this long for them to crash. Sure 80 dung isn't the easiest task. I heard that the main bot that bots dungeoneering actually can dungeoneer better than humans(because it remembers which enemies are weak to what, and it can solve puzzles using complex algorithms). I've also heard the developer has made more then $250,000 from the bot. I don't know how old he is, nor do I care to do the research, but that is a pretty good chunk for a job that requires little to no education. As a senior in Computer Engineering, I am pretty impressed.
  9. pfft, Jagex doesn't ban bots. Lets get real... When is the last time you've been to Tzhaar's? There is easily over 20 bots at any moment per 10 square runescape blocks. And it has been like this for months.
  10. I was here for scapeboard, under a different user name (immortal ell). When scapeboard was hacked, I decided to change to my rsname. I have been here ever since (although I joined some other fansites while tip.it was down)...Scapeboard was hacked around the same time RS2 was released....
  11. And when it comes to ToS, I never actually played the game. I just wrote the bots for it. Apparently the guy who wrote the dungeoneering bot has sold over 23k licenses at about $11 a pop. He gets roughly 60% of that. Not bad.
  12. Really? Because I didn't, and I just tried to buy above said supplies at the values you posted, and was unable to do so.
  13. It's more likely a tactic to get money early. Obviously the three dollars Jagex loses per membership is worth less then having to wait the three months to get it. Business do this all the time for various reasons. My guess is that Jagex's books are looking pretty [cabbage]ty, and they hope that they can "cook the books" a little with prepaid membership. Because membership is non-refundable, they don't need to mark future membership as an expense, and can make their equity look a little better. But that is entirely my speculation.
  14. I'm going to go ahead and call bs on Mod Mat K's post regarding the fact that they have some plan on action in place and need to keep it hush hush. Also I am going to call bs on the whole "bots cost us money". Sure, they can make it seem like it cost them money by saying that 1. They are losing subscribers. 2. To get rid of the bots, they would need to spend xxx amount of money. 3. etc. It seems to me like jagex is "cooking the books" a little with this argument. I'd be willing to bet that over half the active players online at almost any time are bots. It seems like jagex has quit distributing funds for this effort to end bots a long time ago. Until they make me believe otherwise, i'm sticking with this mindset... The only thing reason that I would believe they may be doing something is the fact that it has been only been 6 months since the re-release of free trade, and at my company it can often take longer than 6 months to fix major issues.
  15. I for 1 will likely not pay $30 extra just to get 10% increase for 5 weeks. I really don't mind what Jagex did here. an extra 10% in any skill hardly changes anything. At most a couple of extra hours of training. Big deal. You are all over reacting.
  16. Summoning is one of those skills that cost both time and money. But to answer you're question, you buy as many shards as you can afford, make pouches, and then sell the pouches back to GE. Rinse and repeat.
  17. Items that are high in demand are the best to flip. To test if an item is high in demand, try buying an item for guide price. If it doesn't buy right away, try paying up 5-10%. If it buys now, that means people are buying for above guide price, ie, they are willing to offer more for it (remember, as demand goes up, price goes up). Next remember you want to maximize profit and turnaround. If you make your profit too large, your turn around time will be too long, and you won't make a very good profit. On the other hand, if you make it to small, you'll miss out on potential profit. Most people agree that 1m/hr is a good rate of gaining gp. Therefore, you need to make roughly 150k/10 minutes. If the max you can buy and sell at 1 time is 10, that means your profit margin needs to be at least 15k.
  18. The only thing members really notice is frost dragon, which just happens to be (or used to be, rather) the best consistent money maker for members. Otherwise I really don't see any other bots, even though I know they exist.
  19. get banned buddy...

  20. Frost dragon bots at an all time high?
  21. I'd say get the GP for turm then. What method are you using? If you struggle with money making (which no one should, the game is made in a fashion where content is equally hard to obtain for all players), maybe try infernal ashes.
