actually i did think of that, was going to write more about my plans, just decided not too :o . there are radiation suits, solar panels and electric converters, room full of plants that makes oxygen (still got some technical details to work out  ), possibility of a breeding and slaughtering room (probably chickens, can do a lot with the meat, and then you have eggs too. and they reproduce fairly quickly, and use their crap for fertilizer) but thats all plans for the long haul. all im probably going to do is a room below the cellar that has food and a few big batteries charged at all times so i can have lights on for my last living days :D
  3. im pretty positive it has nothing to do with your computer being slow. it would still work anyways. my computer was a 2.8ghz 512 ram, and it installed fine. once you get in the game though... lets just say the graphics kind of reminded me about the last time i palyed Dark Forces, about 7 years ago. definently you will be on 640x480, with no options and a small view distance. it will also still only run around 10 fps. but it should work, and you might be able to play some of the parts of the game (probably not going to be able to fight outside, you will have to click the mouse about 15 times to get it to register once). so let me give you the advice you dont want to here. you will not only need to upgrade your ram, you might have to get a new computer, and definently going to have to get a video card, to be able to play at decent graphics. :(
  4. well, it depends on if you want to just upgrade your computer or buy a new one. if you just plan on upgrading, dont, it sucks (haha, personal bias :D ). if you are planning on going new, i suggest buying a fairly cheap emachines computer. *waits for shouting to die down* yes, i am suggesting buying an emachines computer. i bought one for my parents, one for my sister, one for my grandparents, and two for friends (i didnt pay for them, they did, i jsut told them what to buy 8) ). all of their experiences and my experience with them has been just fine. having said that, i suggest waiting for a while. soon emachines are going to start coming with motherboards that support pcix16 video cards. you buy a whole new computer for about $550 (USD, have no idea in britain) add a $200 video card and it will be pretty good for games.
  5. just have winrar integrate itself into windows, right click on zip and rar files to unpack them. i never pack anything, so i dont know how that works.
  6. do you use objectdock, windowblinds, or any other sort of skinning utility? for some games i have problems if those are on, oblivion is fine with object dock though. and even if your computer isnt going to run it very well i dont think you would get that error, everything might move kind of slow but it would work. the official forums definently would probably be a help.

i was kind of hoping it would wait till after i move out of here into my house i am designing. in that house i am going to have a bomb shelter, with plenty of food and supplies for a while. not that it would matter anyways because id run out eventually and have to go out into the radioactiveness, but id live a little longer. and im serious too, not joking about any of that. :?

? whats that? Pay $120 extr and it doesn't go on any records, so your insurance doesn't go up. You have to meet certain requirements though, like no violations in the past 6 months. that would awesome. :D
  9. dont know how many french are on here, i dont recall anyone saying they were french. but if there are any french out there on this bored, whats it like having Melissa Theuriau as a news anchor? haha, they have a picture of people playing soccer and it says football  (yes i realize the actual humor of that statement, i was being ironic or something)
  10. pci express can be either 1 or 16 if i remember correctly (PCIx1, PCIx16). so even if it was pci express, you still need to know which one. its almost guranteed to be pciexpress 16 though, on new egg they have hundreds of pci 16 video cards, tons of agp cards, and one pci express 1 card :D what you could do to check for sure is open up your computer and see what your video card is fitted into. if its a tanish white slot, is PCI. if its a very small tanish white slot, its PCIx1. if its a brown slot, its either AGP or AGP pro. if its a black slot, its PCIx16. and might want to confirm all that with someone who knows what they are talking about, its entirely possible i just made all that up and thought it was true  (crazy brain...)
  11. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Battle for the Planet of the Apes ugh, as you can tell from my previous post the first two sequels were progressively worse than the original. these two are also progressively worse, and then to top it off they dont have an interesting ending like the original and first two sequels. at least in the first two sequels after sitting through the movie you were rewarded with a decent end. these give you nothing. definently no plans to watch the tv series, i will probably watch the new version of planet of the apes. seen it before, and i enjoyed it. turns out its a Tim Burton movie, thats probably why. EDIT: no new replys yet, so ill just edit it in but first, off topic, imdb links seem to be odd lately. you still only need to link to how much you did before, i dont know what all that extra junk there is. eh, while im off topic: what the heck happened to our forum? different sections for announcments and stickies? am i going crazy, or has it always been like this, WHATS GOING ON?? (i guess i could go check the announcments board... ) Planet of the Apes (2001) - alright, lets review for a second. original, very good, interesting ending. next two, progressively worse, but also two interesting endings. last 2 sequels, even worse, not interesting endings. they gave up on the series after that except for tv series, until 2001. i saw this movie in theatres, and saw it a few other times before (my english teacher made the holocaust comparison, he wasnt all that smart  ). i thought i new what to expect. the last time i watched it was in english class, i guess that was 3 years ago now. i watch movies differently now, paying more attention to everything. the review: almost as good as the original, but still lacking the "this is freaking crazy" factor. one good thing tim burton did was not try to bring back the original into this movie. at least if he did, it failed miserably :P . i think it worked out for the better though. a few things were unnecessary (the kid? what point did he have for anything?) but overall a good enough movie. the end is great, almost as good as the end of the original. almost, but not quite.
  12. im pretty sure its not from sim city 2000 or 3000, it might be from the original though.
  13. You piece of cabbage. So does that mean I can torcher my dog because I he's mine? yes. we evolved from apes, we are no longer apes. what sets us different? consiousness, reason, to name a few. so apes are living, so they should have the same rights as us? tell that to the millions of billions of bacteria that are also living that you kill in the shower everyday.
  14. thought i was going crazy there, i thought i was having a massive deja vu attack :P
  15. i believe animals have no rights whatsoever. while i find torture of animals cruel, it is up to the owner of the animal what they decide to do with it. it does make them look, well insane i guess. those are just my views, i see nothing wrong with killing animals, for food or sport. i only have killed animals for food before (fish, squirrels), and thats all i plan on killing them for. i would fight back as much as i could. but much like, say for example deer and humans, the aliens would just hunt us, and would probably kill us anytime they wished. i dont think this really deals with "rights" though.
  16. Beneath the Planet of the Apes - the original built it self up over the whole movie, to end up being a good movie. this is one of those movies that was trying to ride on the back of the first, and probably did at its time. it doesnt do anything now though. acting was about the same, maybe a little worse than in the first one. nothing really special about it, the whole first hour ive already seen before. not literaly, but it was the same as in the first movie. then it starts to pick up a bit. then it picks up a little more, and the finale is good. the finale isnt as good as the original movie, and overall the movie was nowhere near as good. this movie would only be good for the extreme fans of the series, they might like it. Escape from the Planet of the Apes - just the same as above, only this one had a stupider story, and never really built up nearly as much. the end was interesting, like all of the planet of the apes movies are. once again just for the fans. i have conquest of the planet of the apes, and battle for the planet of the apes still to go. dont think im going to watch the tv series unless i get extremely bored, and i have plenty of other movies to watch before then. i might watch the 2001 planet of the apes again, even though ive seen it a few times.
  17. i added my black to the p 8)
  18. i just bought mother night, palm sunday, and jailbird, putting my whole collection up to 10. takes me a while to read them though, i only read books when im on lunch break at work.
  19. you could easily understand what was going on by just watching it. but why not watch the others too :P ? if you like westerns they are great, if you dont (like me) they are about the only westerns youll like (once upon a time in the west, and a few others are good)
  20. there are more germs on an average users keyboard than on their toilet. but which ones would be the ones that harm you? there may be more in the ice, probably not as bad of ones though.
  21. my summer vacation will consist of working 15 hours more a week, which is ok since it will still be easier than school. (65 hours is easier than 50 and being a full time student, just because the homework takes a while too)
  22. heh, just mentioned kurt vonnegut in another thread (evolution one). i have seven of his books: bluebeard, breakfast of champions, cats cradle, deadeye [bleep], galapagos, slapstick, slaughterhouse five. id have to say my favorite so far is slapstick, but they are all pretty much just as good as each other. breakfast of champions was probably my least favourite, but not by much. and by satre do you mean john paul satre? i think he is more of a philisophical writer, me and my friends always refered to him as "star trek" or john paul star trek. just klind of sounds the same
  23. in 1 million years we will have lost much of our brainsize, lost our hands and replace them with fins, grown fur, and have a mouth that makes eating fish really easy. (kurt vonnegut ftw!)
  24. army of the twelve monkeys anyone? just kidding, they wouldnt start it out by harming birds.
