The Shin Megami Tensei universe of games usually has that as a game mechanic, where if the main character dies it's game over. Most don't have a problem with it, so hmm. Well it dosen't help when the final boss has an instant death move that he can randomly choose to cast on the party leader... that's how my first 15 minute long attempt ended. :angry:

If it was open-source, why didn't they check the code for scripts that sent their login details to the owners of the client? When was the last time you looked at the Firefox code, for example? Just because something is open source doesn't mean you need to look through every line of code yourself. As with most open source software people just download and get on with their life. Yes, but you would think someone would have noticed and told others about it. Unless they did and demanded a cut of the profits instead :thumbup:

That would be the best solution. It would cause more lag, but from what I've seen in the modding section in the way of optimization, I think it's definitely possible to accommodate without causing TOO much lag. I think Notch himself said they were working on a new larger yet faster file format. Doesn't really bother me with my 1 TB HD. :razz: As long as it's faster.

I actually made another pixel twice this size, but laid it out on the ground instead of upright. Problem is, you have to go HIGHER than the build limit to see it fully, which involves noclipping. I'm hoping one day notch will at least double the height limit to 256. Bigger files actually don't increase lag much with optimization. There are mods out there which completely change the save format and make loading chunks MUCH, MUCH faster. (only problem is no map editors work with that format :lol:)

If the issue is not being able to "see" it just slap an aura on the player when they're extreme'd like the Stone of Jas aura during that one fight. In fact by all means, do that. That would look pretty badass.

Hmm, looks like another reason not to do DKs. It's nearly impossible to get back due to needing multiple people to enter. I can see people luring DKs for your pixels like they did back in the day.

OK, I give up, call it a publicity stunt if you will, along with all of the implied animosity that comes with that, but in my opinion even if they were 99% sure that the community would respond favorably, the opposing votes still mattered. So if taking things to a vote was entirely a way of getting on the community's good side, it worked on at least one person. The T-Shirt thing is a bit silly though :razz:

Agreed, I definately think if they're coming out with this on Feb 1 they've already been working on it. But I disagree with the people saying this whole vote was a publicity stunt and they would have released it either way. Yes they've been working on it, but I honestly believe that if the community gave a resounding NO on the issue they would have scrapped it. They've scrapped things in the past for less important reasons; wilderness tag comes to mind. I do think that they anticipated that the majority of the community would be in favor. And putting the wilderness and free trade together like that may have skewed the vote, because I think there are a lot more people who want free trade to come back than the old wilderness. Full loot in PvP worlds would have worked just as fine IMO, but I don't mind either way.

No they probably won't go for 1m a day anymore, but on the flipside now you can lend your stuff out for cash even if you don't have junk. I think there will be a lot more item lending after free trade comes back.

There has definitely been a change here. The world list used to display a latency of 23-30 on quite a few worlds for me, now the lowest latency it's showing is 55ish. And I've nearly DC'd at TDs like on like every trip I've made.

Maybe because people realized that the boss Jagex released is YET ANOTHER boss where mage is useless, so they sold all of their deaths for more useful gear.

Not really surprising, when corp came out people massed it and still couldn't kill it very easily. Probably the same deal here; once all of those 138s with OVLs actually know what they're doing Nex will go down pretty quickly.

The banker is behind the killcount door; hence the kb news post etc all refer to having a cool off area after u get beyond kill count door and before the boss. So essentially, I can access a bank in the GWD for 50k? Or, I don't lose my kc when i bank for 50k? First of all, you need 40 zaros KC to access bank. After you enter the bank area your 40 KC is gone. Second of all, once you enter Zaros GWD you can't leave except by teleporting. So really, the bank is only useful for gearing up before the boss. And given how much of a pain the 40 zaros KC looks to be, and how much resources Nex sucks up, I'm glad there's a bank there.

Anyone else notice that all of the new armors and the new bow degrade? :lol: And I thought Jagex wouldn't make luck based boss drops degradable. Hah, I guess they just couldn't resist making us pay every 10 hours even though we probably already paid 100m.

I sure hope Jagex didn't actually release info to the PMods about the seers ring getting a magic damage bonus. Of course if they had such info before it happened many of them would no doubt horde the rings for profit...
