Oh yes, and while I'm thinking of Maplestory, one thing I think Runescape could do similar is the bosses. Yes, there is a point at which a boss' HP gets ridiculous, which is clearly seen with some of the MS bosses having BILLIONS of HP; but Runescape's just don't have nearly enough. I'd like to see some bosses in Runescape that could easily take a full inventory of brews to kill one of them for a group of level 138s with turm, OVLS ect. I'm talking 200,000 LP+ here. Possibly much more. None of Runescape's bosses feel like bosses. They don't need to do ridiculous amounts of damage, but there needs to be more engaging boss mechanics involved, like having multiple forms for example. KQ attempts this but misses the point. The boss' second form is supposed to be MORE powerful. Not just a slight difference requiring an equally slight variation in tactics. Nomad makes an attempt with some relatively interesting mechanics, but ultimately he is very predictable which pretty much kills him after you've figured out his very definite attack cycle.

Did they make PQ's instanced? If so I may just have to jump on my mage to check this out. MQ was a cute little game, but as you pointed out the excessive amount of grinding required made it too much of a chore for what the endgame content is worth.
-
Yeah, well when things are bad people always say "things couldn't possibly get any worse". Then the universe takes them up on that bet, and things DO get worse. Just kidding. But yeah, there will always be people who aren't satisfied. And there will always be people who are NEVER satisfied. That, and Runescape has for some reason become the butt monkey of MMOs. Despite the fact that there are MUCH worse MMOs out there. Better graphics usually, but less grindy? Hell no. Even quests are usually just grind sessions in games like that. Go kill 20 goblins or whatever... -.-

Free Trade and Old Wilderness back [21-Dec-2010]
Peronix replied to Logdotzip's topic in General Discussion
I wonder what the reqs would be if they did bring it back? He said VERY long term so the reqs would be a bit high I think. Maybe 2000 total? Or better yet, ingame time spent? Possibly something like 30 days of time on the account. Yes bots spent 24/7 on the game, but I don't think a typical bot could last 30 solid days before being banned. -
Free Trade and Old Wilderness back [21-Dec-2010]
Peronix replied to Logdotzip's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure why people always say "it won't happen ever, ever" when talking about the old wilderness or free trade. I mean, what would you have said to someone prior to that update if they said they were removing the wilderness and free trade? Actually, I remember someone at least predicted the removal of free trade following the release of the GE. People said it wasn't going to happen. Oops? Even if a Jmod said it won't ever happen I still don't trust them. I distinctly remember reading a post by a J mod saying dragon hatchet and pickaxe probably will never happen. Jagex has a lot of employees, and frankly they aren't RuneScape's "government". Things can change very easily in game development... -

From some quick googling on the word torva, if it is legit, it will probably be very goth/dark/evil looking armor. Just about every translation of the word was something along those lines. -
Rage. Moar. But seriously why the [bleep] do YOU care. You could just ignore it but instead you come on this thread and post spammy rants like this.

Ok, well anyone know how much xp/hour shilo fishing is? Or how much gp/hour monkfish is? I'll check out fish flingers, but obviously barb fishing is out of the question. And I'm 99 mage so I don't really need mage exp.
-
I need 91 fishing for frem elite diary (with admiral pie). I know barbarian fishing is supposedly better but after Jamflex added the [developmentally delayed]ed "cut x fish" thing it turned into a bigger clickfest than granite mining. There's a reason I do LRC gold instead of granite. So from an efficency standpoint would it be faster to do shilo fly fishing and just use normal moneymaking methods, or do monkfish for some GP? If the xp/hr is similar I might as well do monkfish but I haven't seen any numbers on that. And what about cavefish at 85, are they any good?
-
All 85+, falador and fremmy elite diaries complete (96 fishing FFUUUUU- well 91, but still FFUUUUU-) and maybe a few more chaotics. Maybe a divine SS if the price on that thing EVER drops. <_<

At old dual arena someone with a CLS would have been laughed at and subsequently pwnt by rapier anyway.

Nice. I feel sorry for people who tried flipping DFS though  -
Wow seriously? It better not take Jagex a week to fix this one... out of concern for fairness of course. I own a rapier. EDIT: Oh, is that all?

14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
Peronix replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
I think it would do this game some good if ludicrously expensive items like the divine spirit shield were allowed to drop in price because there were actually viable alternatives. And besides, consider if they did remove the threshold that the divine would still have a 30% reduction in ALL combat styles, whereas the armor only has it in two styles. And the divine is ONE item, wheras even the best of armor only adds up to 30 - 15 at best. But granting that it might still be a bit overpowered, I'd be willing to support a lower threshold of maybe 100 or so. You know, something that mobs (and f2pers, let's not forget them) are actually capable of hitting. -

Then you might as well just remove it entirely because it is about 99% useless in PvM. -
14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
Peronix replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes, get a divine. I'd so love to. If it wasn't 1 BILLION gp. And yeah, they probably did the "herpderp over 200 thing" because they're afraid if they make soaking actually useful divine owners will rage. Just like they made barrows degrade because dragon armor owners raged. -

I think you mean spectral? Arcane is for mage offense + defense anyway. Neither mage book, or tome of frost have soak either. Weather farseer is better than spectral is up for debate though. -
That would change RS too greatly to be defined as the same game. Ah, well I think it would be a bit refreshing. The game quite frankly is starting to stagnate with the vast number of people with maxed combat. It gets a little boring when you're on top with the only challenge being other players with near maxed combat. If there were no limit there would always be someone better than you; always another goal to reach. Of course it goes without saying if this were done that new bosses would need to be released. The current ones would be too easy, but then again that's just the way things go. Look at the poor King Black Dragon. He used to be a serious boss back in the days of RSC. Now any average joe with a chaotic rapier can dominate him like he's a mere goblin.

As much as I'd love an "infinite" level cap, it would take a hell of a lot of recoding so that exp values can be stored in a 64 bit integer. Not to mention the extra lag of storing / processing 64 bit ints for every single player. Of course if they ever did that they would also need to change the way LP's are given to be similar to other RPGs where each successive level gives slightly more HP than the last. Because if anyone ever got to something crazy like 130+ strength we'd all be doomed.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Peronix replied to sephiroth_king's topic in Off-Topic
+1. If es went mmo i might just die inside. Whats so bad about an MMO? Simple. Single player RPGS, even if a bit grindy, are NOTHING compared to how grindy most MMO's are. Runescape has already given me more grinding than I can stand. I don't have the patience to grind years of my life away to experience the story of Skyrim purely for the sake of player competition. Plus nothing breaks the immersion of a game worse than stalking mobs in the woods when suddenly some jackass comes in and either steals the mob or PK's you shouting all manner of immature drivel. -
I honestly don't see myself grinding 103 million exp on anything. I could barely stand 13 million on my combats. I suppose if they did raise it to 120 I'd just slay or something for any further exp. Of course my combats would already mostly be in the 101+ range, but nowhere close to 120 yet. One thing I would NEVER EVER get 120 in is prayer. Seriously that's madness. Just madness, no Sparta about it. ...so would I like it? I guess I'd be neutral. But if they ever raise combats to 120 they should take the opportunity to give us some extra LP. Like, give us 2400 LP at 120 constutution. Because with extremes, 120 str * 1.25 = 150 str. And that's not even counting turmoil. Or the possible weapons for level 90+. 210 extra LP isn't going to cut it.

Agreed, kind of odd having a lvl 203 merc leader and then a lvl 113 shadow forger as boss

6 months cultivation.
Peronix replied to aerendil's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
If anything, spirit shields are way too rare and overpriced. We've needed damage absorption for a long time now and if they release something crappy in the name of protecting the ludicrous costs of the divine and elysian spirit shields, then they've learned NOTHING. It's that kind of thinking that has caused nearly every powerful item in the last several years to be released with some kind of degradation mechanic. -

...Which is why I'm glad I gathered tokens beforehand. Tokens were traded in on a 1 = 1 in EACH basis. So my 10k tokens turned into 10k tokens in each game. With the multi bonus thing it will probably last me forever.
