Tip.It Times Presents: Preaching to the Choir
This is so true; a close friend of mine was homeless for a while, so I let him stay with me, which naturally meant he used my computer for various things, though I almost put an end to that particular luxury when I discovered he'd downloaded an autominer program (which I quickly deleted before doing a full virsus scan). I confronted him about it and told him if he ever did that again, I'd ban him from my computer. So, yeah, even if your friends aren't living with you, you should still keep a close eye on them and your system if they use your computer for anything, especially if you have high-speed internet as it could only a matter of moments to download and install such programs.

Fancy or Fighting?
I tend to use both, depending on what I'm doing; Fancy go well with Frog Prince clothes, so when I'm wandering around town, and don't need my armor, I'll be dressed up in Frog Prince, Fancy Boots, Wooly Hat and Scarf, Gold or Purple Gloves and my trusty Rubber Chicken. If I'm going somewhere that I need armor (mining in the Wild, or training combat), I'll switch for the Fighting boots as they go better with Rune armor.

skeletons chillin' with giants
Shouldn't this be in General P2P, as it has nothing to do with anything a f2per would understand?

P2P Skill -> F2P Skill
Why magic trees? f2p can't use magic bows. Really, all they'd need is to add a flax field and up to the highest Bows/Arrows that f2p can actually use, which is, what, addy arrows and maple longs? I think...I dunno, I hardly ever Range. But yeah, Fletching is about the only p2p skill that could easily be converted to f2p without changing too much.

Do You Believe someone saying they have a REALLY good main?
It really doesn't matter if they're telling the truth or not; "My main owns joo" is the RuneScape equivalent of a bunch of kids standing around bragging, "My Dad could beat up your Dad!" Whether it's true or not is irrelevant; it's all a bunch of childish posturing based on someone's feelings of inadequacy. Possibly several someones. Someones's...someoneses...someones'? What's the plural on that?

What Makes You Come Back...
For me, the reason is actually quite easy to pin down; I've got almost nothing better to do with my leisure time. When I'm tired and don't feel like loading up something that I have to think about like Halo or Warcraft, but I want to do something a little deeper than Solitaire, I load up RuneScape. RS is unique because you can derive the exact level of immersion out of it that you want; whether it's the super-micro-management of merchanting or something mindless like Essence mining, you can get exactly what you want. Well, except for maybe blowing away people with a rocket launcher, but that would be a little out-of-period. Then again, there are Multi-Cannons and Ice Barrages that could fit that particular need...

members items in free to play
I agree that being able to use p2p stuff in f2p worlds is a monumentally bad idea; you think getting coal in the Mining Guild is hard now? Imagine how much harder it would be when Dragon Picks are released and, with this idea implemented, dozens of Members come to f2p to show off their new picks. Rtp000's idea has some merit, but there was a rant that dealt with a similar topic and many members complained about not wanting to have to change out of their p2p gear just to visit a friend on f2p for a few minutes, and in that I can understand their ire, so I don't see it happening. What I would like to see regarding p2p items in f2p worlds is the ability for f2pers to at least use the Examine feature to learn about p2p items. I'm sure there would be a lot more people finding ways to become members if they could know what the various p2p items can actually do for them, as opposed to "You need to be on a members' server". Getting that message all the time doesn't pique my interest into getting members.

runescape (realy cool check this out)
she did come out with that new song :-k (lol not that its any good) That could be said for a lot of things she "does", if you get my meaning. If you don't, you're probably too young. Anyway, I guess that's cool that RS is #5, though I admit to mixed feelings; on the one hand, it means RS is probably more popular than WoW (after all, WoW isn't in the top five of the list...probably not even top ten), but I do share the same reservations that others have expressed, namely the number of scamming noobs that probably represents coming into the game. Mneh, oh well, there's no getting away from them, might as well just do our best to ignore them.

Is this even a real insult?
I was banking just now, and some guy came up and said the following to me: "U a puremage?" "U a spreken?" "I hate you" "Muth beep" I would just like to know, what the heck is a "spreken" and a "muth beep"? Is he just making stuff up, or are these actual "insults"? Just wondering if I should have reported him. And, before this gets moved to the Rants section, I'm not ranting, just trying to figure out what in the world that guy was trying to call me.

Would you ever go back?
Really? Oh...uhm... [red]*Dargonhuman tries to hide his time machine under a ratty tarp.[/red] But seriously, yeah, I wish I had cherished more things about RSC. Eh, when I finish my non-existent time machine, I'll go back and be more appreciative of RSC.

Would you ever go back?
The way mining worked back then, you'd click on the rock, and a little symbol of a pickaxe would appear over your head to indicate you were mining. If someone attacked you during this time, you would fight them while still mining, meaning if you got the ore before your opponent was dead (or you ran after three rounds), then you got mining and combat experience. Same held true for smithing, fishing and woodcutting. I forgot about the RSC r2h's. It was funny seeing people bean each other over the head with cyan broomsticks (which is what all swords looked like back then). Also, 30 inventory spaces was nice; those extra two spaces were just enough to be able to smith an extra bar of just about every ore; 15 Bronze instead of 14, 10 Steel instead of 9, and 6 Mith instead of 5. Ahh, those were the days...

Merry Christmas!
Yeah, the italicized part is somewhat ironic now, considering the incrediblly high street price of Santas (and other holiday rares). All thanks to some greedy kids who wanted to make some quick cash from their unfortunate fellows, all in the name of "merchanting". Err...before this becomes a rant, just wanted to share that with everyone, maybe get someone to chuckle, even wryly, like I did when I found it.

this must be a great 101 secrets
That made me chuckle; no matter what you do, no matter how successful you are, no matter how many books you buy to make you rich, you are going to be called a "noob". It's a fact of life in RuneScape. Regardless, this makes me think of all those "Make millions in RS Gold!" banners that show up here and on other fansites. I don't understand the obsession with earning tons of gold, when for most people those selfsame methods are tedious, boring and/or annoying. People should play for fun, not anything else. But what do I know? I've never broken a million in my entire RS life. Come close a few times, but I've always spent it all on skills before reaching the magic number.

Would you ever go back?
I would if I could; when RS2 first came out, I wanted to stay RSC, but all my friends went to RS2, so I followed them (kinda glad I did, now, all things considered...), but I'd love to go back. It was so fun being able to mine ores and train combat simultaneously, and the game itself was a lot simpler in general, which is how I prefer my games. Graphically, RSC was inferior and somewhat primitive, but it also had it's own type of charm to it; when I think of RS, I imagine it in the delightfully tacky graphics of RSC rather than the more refined, but somewhat boring, RS2 graphics.

Adult Worlds - Suggestion from Official Forum
Yeah, sure, the mother who wants to see how safe this game her child is playing has no life? The tired dad who works two jobs to pay the bills, two mortgages, payments for three cars, ever increasing gas prices and still set enough aside for his kids' college, who can't afford much more than a free game like RS to relax with, has no life? The harried college student who doesn't have time to wait for his WoW clan to gather for a quest and doesn't have the money or room for a console has no life? Who are you to judge? Ignorant kids on RS don't have lives, don't have real friends, have no tans and are out of shape because I think all they do is play RS or talk about it on fansites while looking up porn on Google. And anyway, even if they don't have lives, what business is it of yours? It isn't, so be quiet. Their lack of a life does not in any way impact yours, except to add one more player to the World you want to play in.

Greek Mythology Missing In Runescape!
To be fair, King Arthur is more of a legend than an actual mythology, but I digress. As for incorporating other mythologies into RS, I don't know. On the one hand, they have nodded to established mythologies in various things, but most of those same elements are fairly common in most fantasy settings; goblins, trolls and elves are all pretty universal creatures in most fantasy settings, whereas Zeus, Mars, Loki, Isis and other mythological characters are fairly specific and at times mutually exclusive concepts. How would Jagex be able to pick and choose which elements to incorporate and which to dismiss? How would they be able to mix the various conflicting concepts into their already well-established mythos? Would it be successful if they even tried? Most mythologies operate on specific sets of rules and if those rules are taken away, the myths start to break down, and often times those rules tend to exclude other rule sets. Then there's the issue of what constitutes a mythology. Many atheists consider most modern religions; Judeism, Christianity, Islam, Wicca to be mythologies. Should they be included as well, since they're "myths"? Would followers of these religions be offended if they were included ("How dare Jagex trivialize my faith like that!!")? Would they be offended if they were excluded ("Is my religion not important enough to be used, too?")? You see the potential quagmire this could become. Then there's the purists who will scream and yell and complain that Jagex botched their favorite myths. So, no, incorporating large parts of other mythologies or even entire mythological structures into RuneScape is a bad idea. Besides, Jagex is doing a great job crafting their own mythos, anyway, and that would be lessened if they started adding other mythologies into the game. Eventually, the Greek or Roman or Egyptian or whatever mythos would begin to supplant the RuneScapian mythos.

New Way To Report Abuse! *with all new Support List* 8/10/06
It should also be in the chat window, in case they say something and you can't find them fast enough, like if you're walking past and they slip off the edge of the screen, you could report them through the chat window instead of having to trek back and try to find them again.

(Revised) Just a suggestion....
yeah, sligo pretty much summed up why this is a Bad Idea, but he missed one: Quests. There are certain quests that require you to go through a specific process to obtain items, and with this spell, you could completely bypass that process and make the quest way too easy. A perfect example of this is the Pirate's Treasure quest. Specifically, the part where you have to get the Rum from Karamja by smuggling it in a banana crate. With this spell, you would be able to skip that entire section of the quest (ever wonder why there aren't any banks on the f2p section of Karamja?) and lose out on important parts of the quest, like gathering bananas for 30 coins. In addition to Wildy PKers, there's also the valuable training areas that can be found out there; the Chaos Altar, the Abyss, the dragon and demon spawns, moss giants, the Rune and Hobgoblin Mines, etc. I'm sure that the TeleBank spell would have the same restrictions as a normal teleport spell, i.e. can't be used past lvl20 Wild, but it would still destroy the game as we know it. Been suggested in various forms before, and every time has been shot down for the same reasons. Sorry, but it's just a Bad Idea.

3 lv woodcutters
lvl3 skillers don't make sense; why make yourself a target for false reports when just a few combat levels will convince other players that you're not an autoing noob. Or, at the very least, make conversation so we know there's a person sitting behind the character and not a bot. I was wcing the other day at the Willows by Port Sarim and there were about half a dozen lvl 3 woodcutters, most in "raw clothes" and none that responded to anything I said. There were a few that were obviously skillers by their dress and actions, but most of them just stood around chopping randomly at trees. It was maddening. If you're one of those people who insist on being a lvl 3 skiller, make it obvious, or risk getting reported and banned when Jagex finally decides to clean house again.

We need a smithing guild
Heh, that made me laugh. Anyway...no, no smithing guild. Why? Not everything needs a guild, and most of the guilds that do exist aren't that great. The mining guild, for instance, sucks. 5 mith rocks, 20 or 30 coals...and usually around 25 people all mining. I mean, there's two addy rocks outside the mining guild, but none inside? What's up with that? I never go into the mining guild except as a shortcut. There are far more efficient and rewarding places to mine at. Sorry, got off track there. A smithing guild is unneccessary; you shouldn't be able to get to level 99 in a month on all skills. Some skills should be tougher to level than others because otherwise, there'd be no challenge in RS. And, anyway, smithing is the most profitable skill in all of f2p and possibly p2p; it should be more difficult to raise. Otherwise, you think the RS economy is bad now?

Action figures
Actually, if it became successful, it could make membership prices go down by providing an alternate source of income. And they could always give a toy company like McFarlane Toys or whoever does the Halo toys a liscence to produce the figures. Granted, the high level of customization might make that difficult, but if the parts were made modular or swappable, it could work. Maybe make them similar to Lego's Bionicle or Knight's Kingdom sets with a large number of interchangeable pieces with a variety of customization pieces to make each set/figure unique.

Post Office
Then implement a fee system so that anyone tempted to abuse the post office would lose money to transfer items, and friends can still send each other stuff. Obviously a flat fee would be useless and unfair, so the shipping fee would be relative to the items store worth; maybe 10 or 15% of the item's worth (the percentage would count against the entire worth of a stack of items. e.g. the shipping fee for 2 Law Runes would be less than the fee for 100 Laws.) That way, if a you want to give a friend a R2H for their birthday, you still could, but someone wanting to send some treasure trails armor to their f2p character would lose money to do so. The only real drawback I can see would be for "famous" characters like Zezima; they'd have to spend hours either accepting or rejecting useless gifts from literally thousands of morons trying to ingratiate themselves with their "heroes". It is a good idea, but the potential for abuse makes in infeasible to implement into the game.

Action figures
It's probably a silly idea, but what if JAgex actually added something to their Jagex Store that people would actually use, like action figures? The way I envision it is this: You have to login to get a figure that looks exactly like your in-game character. There's be one flat price for the basic figure; a figure of a lvl3 would cost just as much as a lvl126. But, you could also buy all the available armor, weapons and other equippable apparel to outfit your figure with. If successful, Jagex could expand the line to include various popular NPCs like KBDs, Kalphite Queens, Lesser and Greater Demons, maybe even some Random Events. If nothing else, it'd be a fun, legal way to sell RuneScape "characters" on eBay.

wilderness.. everywhere?
That's actually how duelling worked before the Arena was released. It was pretty cool to be walking through Members and see two Lvl120's duking it out in the streets. I have no idea why they took that away, though; it's not like you couldn't say no to a duel request. Street duels were completely voluntary, unlike the Wilderness. The only thing voluntary about the Wild is whether to go in or not.

esskay survey #3:proudest purchase
My rune pick. It's also my most ironic purchase; I didn't have the 32k to buy it, and by the time I'd mined and smithed enough bronze to afford it, I had just barely gotten to lvl 41 mining, which I didn't realize was the minimum lvl to use it.
