Whoops, don't know what happened with this double post. Sorry!
-
That, my friend, is an excellent question. I wish I had an answer. It's not like it's that important of a word. Is it? I think Jagex overreacted when all those people quit; they'd recover in time. Heck, I'd go out of my way to find a way to pay for members in support of another noob censor. Not that they would, but still...

Flash: Wave: Smiley: Seasick: Spam: Orangetang: Selling Life, 1M!

It's funny I run across this now, as I'm browsing the Woodcutting list at the moment. That being said, if the hiscores were ranked by exp, then there's a good chance worlds-famous Zezima would no longer be #1; in Woodcutting alone, he is only #181. I don't know where he ranks in some of the other skill lists, but I'm sure he'd lose his spot at the top if it were ranked by exp.

Commander Larkin would like a penguin-only MMORPG. If anyone else knows who Commander Larkin is, I will be very pleased.

Personally, I'd rather deal with a few normal words that get censored than listen to people swear every other word. I'm one of those people who finds excessive swearing to be offensive; it's rude, insulting and shows a lack of intelligence.

So...while all the mods are messing around in Falador, who's out busting the rulebreakers?

This entire thread reminds me of the "Nintendo is too kiddish" bashings. So what? I like the fact that it's not "M" rated; I don't have to worry about playing Mario Kart or Donkey Kong 64 or other "kiddie" Nintendo games with my 4-year-old nephew because I know they're safe for him. Same holds true for RS; the combat isn't much more violent than DK64, and when something dies, it looks more like it's going to sleep than kicking the bucket. I do enjoy more adult games like Halo and Resident Evil and WarCraft, of course, but "kiddie" games have their place, too. If you don't like it, go play something more adult.

Make up your mind; do you agree with the idea or don't you? "Yes I agree, it's a good idea" is the exact opposite of "but quite pointless and confusing." If it's pointless and confusing, by nature it can't be a good idea. Anyway, it really is a bad idea. There are too many things that could go wrong with it. Besides, there's already three types of exchanges; monetary, barter and services. Monetary is trading gp for items or services, barter is trading items for items, and services is trading items for services. It's a simple system that works; there's no reason to add another layer or three of complexity to that; it'll only lead to problems.

i know it might be a bit "OTT" but just read it
dargonhuman replied to dec_stile's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Dude, they're (we're, actually, since I'm also against this) not being uptight; it's a bad idea. It's been suggested hundreds of times before, and been shot down just as many. Any "uptightness" comes from people being tired of seeing the same rehashed idea being repackaged as something "new" every other week. It's not gonna happen. Ever. You've presented a bad idea, we've pointed out why it's a bad idea and why it will never be put into the game. Telling the critics to hush and loosen up won't strengthen your position. -
Login pin: No. Not gonna work. Macro spray: Really no. Too easy to abuse. Forced logout for ten minutes: Hell no. Most people don't play that long, anyway. And those that do play for long periods often are chatting with friends or whatever. Besides, when I'm in "the zone", I don't want to be interrupted every sixty minutes just because someone I've never met thinks I need a break. It's bad enough the MOM already thinks that.
-
What if you experience lag during a job or have some other kind of interruption? I can agree with losing points for doing a bad job, but not for logging out; there are too many ways to get logged out against your will. Otherwise, it's a solid idea. One of the more enjoyable quests for me was Doric's Quest because there was a purpose to mining all that stuff beyond the xp. As for it being made a new skill, I don't think many people would like having yet another skill to work on. I know I wouldn't; I don't have the time to level most of the skills we already have, and I'm only f2p. However, having optional tasks to perform would probably give me the motivation to train some skills that I find to be utterly boring.

it might be a bit over the top.....
dargonhuman replied to TotalTalker's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I'm with Swordrond and Dalcyte on this one; I get about 90% of my mining exp in the Wild, not to mention just about all of my Nature and Cosmic Runes. Having to join a clan to do that would probably make me quit, since mining and smithing are my main sources of income. Official Jagex clan support would be appreciated by many clans, I'm sure, but not with this implementation. This is just a different, more demanding version of Members. -
nothing..... please close it, this was a mistake
dargonhuman replied to karatekid100200's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
There's a reason lvl3 skillers and autoers go for woodcutting first; it's insanely easy to level. So, no to woodcutting guild. How much easier does it need to be? An NPC that just gives you logs and exp? -
That's new to me. Here, I was thinking Jagex had "gone around the bend" as they say over there. Actually, my first thought was, who would make a penguin out of macaroni? My second thought was they'd lost it.

Why are Moss Giants even uglier now?
dargonhuman replied to Digimon4Life's topic in General Discussion
Good one, Nick. Seriously, how "pretty" do monsters need to be? Moss Giants are supposed to be ugly; they're Moss Giants. And, personally, I love the new look of the demons. Sure, they look like messed up humans, but that just makes them more disturbing; it's like looking into a warped mirror at your own inner darkness. And, being f2p, the only Dragon I can see is Elvarg through her bars, but she looks great. Very draconic. To all the critics and complainers: You do better in Java, show us, then you can complain. Otherwise, shush. -
I don't rely on anyone. Period. If I can't do it myself, then it's not worth doing. There are some exceptions; I have two rl friends on my friendslist who I will give just about anything to, and I know they'll give me in return, but that holds true irl for the three of us; we lend each other movies, games, toothbrushes, whatever. Well, not toothbrushes, that's nasty, but you get my point, we trust each other. "Trust" is not something I give out easily, and I haven't encountered very many people in-game who have earned it. I can think of a few who I would trust, but none of them seem to play anymore; one told me she quit and the others just don't get on when I do. As for everyone else, I generally regard them with a level of suspicion, because I never know who is playing me just to scam me later down the line. Yeah, I'm paranoid. It's kept me safe and clean for 21 years, so don't try to make me stop now.

Ever speak your mind on runescape???
dargonhuman replied to Silversnow95's topic in General Discussion
Nah, I don't usually speak my mind in-game; I'd run an extreme muting/banning risk if I said everything that came to mind, so I usually just brood in silence. I'm a little more open here on Tip.it, though I tend to delete a lot of what I really want to say in favor of more tame versions of the same concept. -
Having had the benifit of being a member for a month a few years ago, I know I'd spend my entire day at the coal trucks, leaving only to bank my haul at Seer's Village. Okay, I might spend an hour or two fishing for swordies in Catherby or the Guild, but that's only if I got bored with mining.

I may be wrong, but I believe the difference is lag is something only you experience (i.e., only you see a bowing monster, but it goes away after someone kills it), whereas a glitch is a temporary bug that everyone sees (i.e. everyone sees the bowing monster, but it goes away after it's killed). Like I said, I could be wrong, but that's how I understand it.

Cant u just change to high detail? No; unless it's been changed recently, high detail's sky is just as black as low detail.

.:.:.:. Are you afraid to speak up...? .:.:.:.
dargonhuman replied to Pinkbullet3's topic in General Discussion
"It's not what people call you, it's what you answer to." If people want to judge you by the games you play, let them. All it proves is that there's more wrong with them than you. People are always going to talk about you and call you names no matter what you do, what you say or don't say or what games you play. That's just the nature of people. Don't let people bother you and stand up for what you believe in and like, you'll find yourself happier and more content when you stop worrying about what others think of you and just focus on how you feel about yourself. If you're content to play RuneScape, if it brings you peace in a hectic world, then don't let anyone mess that up on you. If your friend doesn't want to be your friend because you play a particular game, then they're not really your friend, because a real friend won't care what games you play. A true friend will realize that whatever friendship you have is more important than some insignificant piece of recreation. And I just realized I've been watching too many Tyler Perry DVDs because I can hear Madea saying all of that... :ohnoes: -
Skills, of course! A no-skill merchant can only move supplies; a skiller can buy raw supplies cheap, turn them into something far more valuable, then sell it at much higher than the component supplies would ever be worth. An examples: To make an Ammy of Power, you need a Gold Ore or Bar (300-500gp), a Diamond (4,000-5,000gp), a Cosmic Rune (160-200gp) and 10 Earth Runes (50-200gp total). This means spending 4510-5900gp to make one Ammy of Power, but you can sell the Ammy for 6,000-10,000! That means, if you buy high and sell low, you're still making at least 100gp profit, so long as you have the skills. A no-skill merchant could only make a minima profit, whereas a skiller could beat him by almost 200%. Obviously, this isn't true for all cases; if you bought all your supplies to make steel plate bodies, you'd lose cash, but if you had the mining and smithing skills to make your own, then you could still earn a bit of money; 1,200gp if you high-alched or 900-1,300gp if you sold it. Since you paid nothing to make it, it's all profit, whereas as a no-skill merchant, you can only make a profit after making a purchase, which means losing money to earn it back. The skiller only makes money. Yes, money does play an important part in RuneScape, but without skills, it'd be impossible to make any significant amount of money; almost everything a merchant moves most likely came into circulation thanks to someone's skills. Without skillers mining, smithing, chopping, fishing, cooking, fletching, crafting, slaying, fighting or enchanting, there would only be very few items being bought and sold, and even less money to buy and sell with. The economy as we know it now was built on the labor and toil of skillers, not merchants. If Jagex one day decided they were tired of skyrocketing rare prices and made all rares untradeable, the economy wouldn't crash because the skillers would still be there, selling their wares.

Yeah, it'd probably be nice to have a player model overhaul, but you have to consider what kind of undertaking that'd be; if they did that, they'd have to update all the dozens of model options (hair, clothes, faces and limbs for both genders plus beards for the guys), plus all the literally hundreds of wearable gear (armor, apparel, randoms, holidays, etc.) so it looks right. Plus, there's the little matter of the complainers; anyone remember a few months ago when Jagex decided to update the female models to look more feminine? Remember the outcry from the female players (and many of the males, too) at how horrible the new models look? Remember how it took Jagex like three tries to get it right? Do you want that to happen for every single account? I know for a damn fact I don't. Then there's the inevitable problems of matching the various apparel pieces to each other; not too long ago, Jagex had made some minor tweaks to the Barrows armor models, and the result was some armor pieces didn't match up with others, which took a few weeks for Jagex to fix. Imagine that time a hundred. Yes, the player models could use a spit-and-polish, especially compared to the new monsters, but, personally, I don't think it's worth the inevitable headaches and problems that such an update would create.

The three best items refers to all the individual items in your inventory, not the inventory spaces themselves. If you had 1 million gold coins on you plus a kebab, that would count as 1,000,001 items. If, heaven forbid, you should die with that in your inventory, you would keep the kebab and two gold coins (and be out 999,998gp...), our three coins and the kebab with Protect Item, assuming of course you weren't skulled. It's been this way since the early RSC days.
