Great for you, but sadly the other players motives may not have been altruistic. There are three possibilities I can think of for why someone would be that generous; they're really, really nice, they're quitting, or they just stole someone's account and are cleaning them out. I'm hoping it's one of the first two, as in the case of the third, the "hacker" would have been more likely to drop trade the stuff rather than give it away. Whatever the reason, you definitely made out.

The problem with your argument is, most of your "solutions" aren't f2p friendly. The original poster's suggestion (ill-conceived as it is) was made in response to that fact. F2p can't use glories, or rings, or do the Recruitment Drive quest. Before you smash a suggestion, whether it's a justified smash or not, make sure you understand what you're talking about. ... My point for not listing many F2P transportation methods was because their F2P. F2P already have the 3 teleports, which cover pretty much all of the non-wildy F2P. ... And it's not hard to walk anywhere from those three places...Another reason I put a lot of P2P transportation methods was to show the topic starter how many ways there are to get around on P2P. And I've listed at least one F2P transportation method for each bank. And my point was the original poster is obviously an f2per who either doesn't want to use tele spells because he's too cheap to get Laws or too lazy to raise his magic, so telling him about all the nifty p2p travel methods is pointless. Before anyone asks, I say the OP is f2p because there's no reason for a p2per to make such a suggestion.

Spirit Banisher: F2p quest made by p2p player
dargonhuman replied to Flame_guy3's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Wow, a p2per who wants to give f2p a new quest? Is this a sign of the RuneScape Apocalypse? I just want to know if I should start looking for another game to replace RS now or later... ... Silliness aside, that sounds like it'd be a fun quest. Of course, if Jagex accepted it, they would have to change some things just so we Tip.Iters wouldn't have a "leg up", so to speak, by having a quest guide before the quest even came out, but it's still a decent idea. Regarding the issue with Delrith...since he's already featured in a Member's Quest or two, then it probably should be a different demon, Delrith's cousin from the East Side or something. -
Technology, as defined above, can be anything more advanced than using your own two hands. Using a sword is "technology". Making a fire is "technology". Just because it's not silicon chips and fiber optics doesn't mean it's not technological; it's just lower tech than the "modern age". In other words, a tech skill would be totally feasible in RS. There are already plenty of examples of low-end technology (and possibly some examples of mid- to high-technology, too) all over RuneScape. What do you think Smithing is? Or Fletching? Or even Cooking or Crafting? Let's not even get into Construction. I don't know how useful a Tech skill would be, or even what you could use it for that isn't already covered by other skills, but it's not impossible. Getting back on topic, that new arrangement looks pretty nice; it's neat and organized, though I can hear the noob idiots complaining about the reordering now. Ignoring them, though (who doesn't?), the new order of the list would make using Tip.It's combat calculator much faster to use manually.

Oh really? So, Iron, Steel, Mith and Addy arrows have always been f2p? Oak, Maple and Willow long and shortbows, too, eh? And I suppose trimmed armor spawns somewhere in the f2p world, too, right? Sure it does, because "it's quite obvious Jagex has no plans on giving f2p p2p items, as this has never happened before." Check your facts; when it was determined that Rangers were at a disadvantage, Jagex made most of the p2p Ranger weapons f2p to provide some balance. And while not all treasure trails items are tradeable to f2p, some are, which shows that JAgex didn't want the members to hoard all the TT stuff just to show off to the f2pers. If Jagex at some point decides that f2p mage robes are insufficient to the task of keeping the pvp triangle balanced, then they will very likely either bump some p2p armor to f2p or create a new set of mage armor that will be available to both. I support the idea. I'm no pker, nor do I train mage very often, but having the only choice of defense equipment be blue or black is, well, boring. Not to mention they do squat at protecting you from more than a sneeze. Actually, I don't even think they protect you from that. The only thing mage robes give you are a paltry magic bonus, which only makes a difference when it's combined with other bonuses like ammys, prayers or a Wizard's Mind Bomb.

Your a bad typer yourself... Learn to spell. Except for some minor capitalization and punctuation errors, there's nothing wrong with Dalcyte's post. Before criticizing others, maybe you should go back to school and learn that "You're a bad speller" is better than "Your a bad typer". As for the suggestion, eh. It's amusing, but it seems a little farfetched. Maybe because I'm not a pker, I dunno.

Are you kidding? We're all still noobs to someone. It doesn't matter what combat level we are, how many quests we finish, what our overall skill total is, someone, somewhere, will think we're a noob about something. It'll probably happen before the week is out for most of us, too. So, to answer your question, never.

F2p can't use glories, or rings, or do the Recruitment Drive quest. Before you smash a suggestion, whether it's a justified smash or not, make sure you understand what you're talking about. With that out of the way... This idea is worthless. It doesn't take that long to walk really anywhere in f2p, and it's not that hard to get all the f2p teleport spells. And, if you're having trouble getting Laws and have a decent combat level (really anything over 50 cb), kill Ankous or Catablepons in the Security Stronghold; they drop plenty of Laws farily regularly.

Thanks noname, that helps. Something I just thought of, could these people be using some form of autotyper to get around the auto-log? Would it work that way?

I've been wondering, have I been muted and how do I know? I've checked my account status, and I'm clean on that front (not that I've said anything worth getting muted for), but some recent encounters have made me wonder. Yesterday, I was in Falador and someone was asking if they were in Varrock. I told him, no, it's Falador and Varrock is to the east. A few seconds later, he asked the exact same question! Something like three other people kept telling him what I did, but he apparently wasn't listening. Today, however, is what made me wonder about my mute status. I was in Edgeville and this guy was asking where he had to go to make fire runes. Remembering back to my newb runecrafting days, when I couldn't find the altars to save my life, I told him to go to Al Kharid, in the south east. Like yesterday, he asked the exact same question a few seconds later, despite having the answer I just gave him. I told him again, since there were some spammers nearby, but he seemed to not hear me, making me wonder if I'd been muted and was unaware. So, how do I know? Or, I suppose I should ask, is this a common thing that happens? Do newbs often ask questions then ignore the answers they're given?

I would hunt you down and kill you with my bare hands. Assuming no one else got to you first. You know, like Zezima...

Christmas 2005 marrionette glitch
dargonhuman replied to harryp0tt3rules's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that was a lot of fun, come to think of it. Which is weird because it wasn't much different from most RS minigame event things. But, there was just something about it that was unique. I hope Jagex is able to recapture some of that this year. -
If I were going after autoers, I'd just ban everyone under level 5 that were in any guild or cutting any trees higher than Oak. If I unfairly banned some lvl3 or lvl4 skillers, so be it; let that be a lesson to them that power training one or two skills is suspicious at best and really stupid at worst, though I might listen to some appeals if they had more than five skills that were decently high (more than lvl 30 each). In the same vein, I'd have some undercover mods (i.e., special non-crowned accounts with mod-powers) go hang out at "trouble spots" like Karamja Docks and Catherby and do mass mutes of the foul mouths in those spots.

Okay, since no one else is helping out very much... f2p can wear: -Bronze-Rune armor (including trimmed variants) -All Leather armor (regular, hard and studded) -Green Dragonhide -Blue and Black Mage robes -Monk and Priest Robes -Everything in the Varrock Clothes Store -Canifis "Colored" Gloves (only available from members) -All Random Event clothes (zombie, mime, etc.) -All Holiday items (provided you were able to get them when they were released, excepting Rares) -Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple Capes That's about it, I believe. There's probably something (or a couple somethings) I missed, but that's about it, excluding weapons.

One month...four updates... Update #1: Improve the chat filter by editing the list so that actual swear words (and the major variants/respellings) are blocked but non-swear words aren't. If someone is dumb enough to use one of the minor variants, then they deserve to get reported. Also add a special chat censor that detects when someone says "Free stuff plz" or ANY variant thereof and instantly sends them back to the beginning of Tutorial Island. Update #2: Remove the "veined rocks" and replace them with the more functional "solid rocks" of yesteryear. Also, make the rocks behave more like high level trees by giving random amounts of ores instead of just one, thus easing the competition and ore-hogging in crowded mining areas. Ten additional bank spaces would also be added, mostly to accomodate the new Rares store that would be added to the Varrock clothing store. The Rares store would buy and sell all tradeable Rares (phats, masks, edibles, etc.) at their current street value at the time of the update, thus stabilizing their prices at a specific level by not only putting new Rares into circulation, but also by providing an official price cap. The General Store prices would be unchanged, though. Update #3: Add a Law Rune respawn in the deep Wildy (possibly near the Rune Rocks or Greater Demons). It would only be a 2-3 stack of Laws, and respawn every ten minutes, but would most likely be a welcome alternate source of Laws for tele mages. I'd also add mikehild's beloved Blood Altar as well as making the Chaos Altar f2p (not the Abyss, just the Chaos Altar), along with the Chaos Talisman. Update #4: The piece de resistance. Upgrade and improve the Mining Guild. This would include moving the Addy Rocks from the Scorpion area of the Dwarf Mine to inside the Guild, moving Nurmof to inside the Guild (and, subsequently, giving Drogo all picks up to Mith), and adding an additional wing to the Guild that would contain more Mith and Addy rocks in addition to one or two Rune rocks and a furnace (FYI: Nurmof would be in the "main" wing of the Guild, not the high-level wing). The new wing would require level 80 mining and level 65 smithing to enter, and the furnace would have a level 75 smithing requirement to use. All rocks in the Mining Guild would also have a 10-20% greater chance of giving Gems to attract Crafters to the Mining Guild. In addition, before being able to buy a Rune pick, you would have to do a small quest for Nurmof, similar to the quest to use Doric's anvils. It wouldn't be overly long or complicated, but just enough to make using Rune picks an actual reward. Everyone who already owns one or more Rune picks would have to do the quest before being able to use them. That's what I would spend my month on. And, other than the Blood Altar, they'd all be f2p and p2p updates.

Scythe, all the way. Scythes have actual combat stats (weak stats, naturally, but stats nonetheless), whereas party hats have...uh, a grotesquely over-inflated pricetag (even though that still doesn't even begin to come close to how overprices party hats are...) Besides, scythes are more of a status symbol than party hats; anyone with enough cash can get a hat, but only true oldbies have a scythe.

Just about everyone has, and there's no mention of RS3. There's a vague mention of a "new game", but the context makes it clear that it's not going to be RS related. Don't try to sound more knowledgable than you really are, especially about things that are so widely known. You only end up looking foolish. Regarding RS3, I think it's too soon; it seems like RS2 just came out (even though it's been around for like two years), and there's still a lot of potential in the current system, especially if Jagex keeps tweaking the engine to be more efficient. The main reason they upgraded from RSC is because the RSC system was too limited and prevented them from doing a lot of the things they wanted to do (cutscenes, for example). Until Jagex's ambitions grow beyond the current system, I don't expect to hear anything about the next incarnation of RS.

If the entire world was your's for an entire hour...
dargonhuman replied to Caisadi's topic in General Discussion
Pfft, mining Runite is for noobs with no imagination. I'd go kill Greaters for the drops or mine a ton of Coal in the Guild and have more liquid assets than an hour of mining Rune... -
I tend to leave it so North is pointing up; I usually get more disoriented if I keep moving the map around than if I leave it alone. There are times when I will swing the camera around, though; coming out of the Wild to see what's in front of me, for instance, or in the Crafting Guild to see when the Gold rocks have respawned. But, most often, North = Up and I have the camera at it's highest "bird's eye" angle.

dargonhuman replied to Pinkbullet3's topic in General Discussion
Your characters go to the same place they do when an NPC dies; the Respawn Lounge. It's a nice, cozy place just on the outskirts of the Twilight Zone with a special Portal system that can access all of the RS worlds. What characters and NPCs actually do in the Lounge, I can't say, since no player has ever seen it, though I'd imagine there are plenty of things for them to do there. -
I tend to not take sides in any event, but if it seems like the abuse is getting out of hand or extremely one-sided, I'll usually send off an Abuse Report on the abuser, and tell them to shut up. Why I usually don't take sides is because I never know if the abuse is serious or just two friends playing around; when my rl friends are actually on (an event that is rarer and rarer these days), we usually joke around by hurling "noob" insults at each other, then laugh in pms when others take us too seriously. Childish and immature, I know, but that's the way we are; at least we've stopped closing doors. So, no, I don't usually speak out against newb abuse, because I don't know if it really is abuse, but I will report it if it seems to get out of hand.

I just had one last night. I don't remember where I was or what was happening, but there was a Christmas cracker on the ground and I went for it. Before I got to it, though, someone else ran up and snatched it. I yelled at him for it, then I got banned for a day for some stupid reason and told that my account was going to be scrutinized very carefully from now on. The strange part was, the message came through an in-game popup, not the inbox. Of course, right afterward I had a dream that I was a superhero running around with Mulder and Scully from the X-Files trying to stop a small-town sherriff from unleashing an alien virus on the world. Man, I have some strange dreams...
-
Since no one can give a straight answer, yes, Durial's rampage and the Fally Massacre are one and the same.
-
I don't play RS much, either, but I've had some dreams. Then again, everything I see or do makes it's way into my dreams at some point, so it's not surprising. Anyway, the one dream I remember most clearly is being in the Stronghold of Security fighting some Flesh Crawlers, when several sets of full Rune started appearing, but there was some kind of invisible barrier keeping me from getting to them! I was so upset, until I woke up.
-
Yeah, it's actually a fairly common recent bug, but this is the first time I've heard of it popping up during a random. I wouldn't worry about it; people have tested it, and it doesn't really affect anything. At least, not like the falador massacre.
