Map Direction...

Featured Replies

I have been wondering for a while what you guys do with your Mini Map/Screen Direction while you are playing. Personally I always have my Map/Screen facing the same way, if it is facing a different direction I will get disorientated and lost.

So do you do this? Or do you change the way the screen is facing depending on where you are?

I tend to use it as a map, and twist it for fun or because in certain areas im used to it.

Live, love, eat!

i move it a lot to see where I am going but when im standing still i spin it cause im bored

I always point the direction of where I'm going up. As for the screen, whatever way is easiest for doing... things.

You probably get disoriented because you don't know the landscape that well. Now focus...

Like forum text games much?

um... from... MARS, yes, in the third county from the... left.

I too like to twist it to face the direction I'm going to, or if I'm training and my character is otherwise idle, I enjoy spinning the camera round and looking at the uber 3D-ness of my great character. I know - I'm weird. :(

I tend to leave it so North is pointing up; I usually get more disoriented if I keep moving the map around than if I leave it alone.

There are times when I will swing the camera around, though; coming out of the Wild to see what's in front of me, for instance, or in the Crafting Guild to see when the Gold rocks have respawned. But, most often, North = Up and I have the camera at it's highest "bird's eye" angle.

its usually angled so that my character is facing me. but sometimes i just randomly spin it (mostly while mining \' )

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

My fingers are on the arrows the whole time, and I move th ecamera with my character. When bored, I spin around.

Add me on Xbox Live and mention you are from Tif :D

I've always been curious how others do this too, but never bothered asking. Thanks for doing the honors.

North is "up" 90% of the time for me. When it's not, it's usually because I need to see something further in the distance (like when mining coal in the mining guild and waiting for the mithril to respawn).

Yea that is Generally what I do, keep North up unless I need to look in a certain direction...

It's a mix of ease, efficiency and old habits.

I've never been annoyed by the view (I'm not easily annoyed) and whether it's hard or not isn't part of the consideration. It's just a preference. I prefer charcoal over propane. I prefer rock over hip-hop. I prefer summer over winter. I prefer heels over flats... on women. I prefer my compass facing north 90% of the time.

Dang it, now I'm hungry for barbecue.

I've been ranging at moss giants for a long time. And when I say long, i mean from level 70-91. Anyway, whenever I train there, I tend to have my map facing the same way every time.

It's just a habit I guess but it allows me to see both of the giants in the area, so it's probably the best.

I always have to have my camera all the way down, and south east when I'm using my whip, and all the way down, north west when I'm using scimitar :P Yes, I have issues.

99 Slayer since August 2007.

I personnaly spins it pretty often, often when I'm travelling over the world. But if I stands still, i often let it be as it is.

Sig by me....

When i'm surrounded by buildings, I move my map into the walls so i'm not blocked by the roofs of buildings, etc.

For some reason, I always have my map pointing South when i'm in an open place, such as pest control.

North for navigation (gets confusing otherwise).

In mines, rotated to keep repawning rocks in view.

Traversing edgville-mind altar route - rotated to face any lurking white dots.

Usually have it pointing north, unless im in wildy at the rune rocks when its always spinning round. (little sticky out bit gives you a little extra vision, useful for spotting and tracking little white blobs)

I'm pretty much familiar with every place in the F2P world except for the wildy and Rimmington, so which ever I spin, I would know where I'm going.

But when I'm training... I have to turn the cam at a certain angle to attack the monster first.
