That's been my argument everytime this issue comes up. It's one thing to collect useless things like art in real life because...um...well, it makes more sense, but it's pointless in a game since it doesn't give you any advantage in playing the game. --Darg--

I like this idea, personally. Yeah, it'd make a lot of people angry, but so what? If they're stupid enough to pay such rediculously high prices for a worthless item, then that's their problem. I don't see real life businesses having any problems when they put some desirable item on sale. For example, a lot of people buy the latest fashion of shoe, say a Nike, at $80 a pair, then a few months later, Nike has a sale and that particular style now costs only $20. It sucks to be the ones who payed $80, but on the other hand, that's their problem, too. As for the merchants, well, I've got no real love of them, anyway, so screw them too. Like I said in a different thread, if they can't adapt to new conditions, then that's their problem. --Darg--

Angel, there's some inherent problems in your idea, too...for example, what's to prevent someone from making three characters? Then, they log into Account A, see what they need, log into Account C so that A isn't the last logged, then log into Account B that has what they need, then transfer. As for the accept donation, that'd be even worse for Zezima; instead of dropping a billion or so junk items, he'd spend all day rejecting tens of thousands of donations. It'd be nice if JAgex could figure out a noob-proof offline trading system, but seeing as there's nothing in RS that's noob-proof, I don't see it happening. --Darg--

Those sound okay, tehn. At the very least, it'd give Prayer more respect than it currently has, not to mention a reason for actually training it higher/at all. --Darg--

I like the angel/demon ideas, but not too sure about the animals. Seems a bit one-sided with those. Runescape really needs a summon-system like this. --Darg--

I never did understand why World 1 Varrock is considered the "best" place to trade when all I hear about it is how much harder it is to trade there, due to all the people. I mean, how can it be the best and worst place? Right, on topic; I think this is a good idea, personally, though there should be some restrictions, like it can't be used in the Wild like Itachi said. Also, a Trade Filter would be good, too, since not a lot of people want to add thirty people to their Friends list just to trade with them, even if they're going to delete them later. --Darg--

So? Screw 'em. If they're not smart enough to adapt to changing conditions, that's their problem. The minority should not dictate what the majority can or cannot do, so if a new update "hurts" them, then they just need to figure out how to deal with it. Runescape is not updated for the merchants, but for the REAL players who actually want to increase their skills, not their bank roll - that should come with the skills. --Darg--

I don't care about combat; I only raised myself to 72 to make mining in the Wild less dangerous to me (and to discourage lvl 60 and below noobs from trying to steal my Rune). --Darg--

That giant crossbow sounds like a ballista to me...but that's off topic... On topic, no. This is dumb. I mean, what would be the incentive to leave the abyss area? If Jagex did this, they might as well just stop developing the main game and rename it "Abyss". The only good thing about this is, it would syphon the noobs out of the main world and let the real players actually do the things they want in peace. But that's hardly enough of a payoff to make this a feasible idea. --Darg--

I agree with everyone that these are great ideas, especially the prayer and magic ideas. Also, the emotes definitely need an overhaul, that's a fact. I agree that the Dance one looks...wrong, like your character is shaking a turd out of his pant leg. Like you, though, I'm kind of at a loss as to what would be better. Good ideas, though, for the most part. --Darg--

Hey, maybe f2p does need updates to attract new players. Think about it; new f2p updates = more f2p players = new members when the new f2p players get hooked and want more. It's a simple equation. Now, for f2p dragon; doubt it. I wouldn't want it anyway; I just got full Rune and feel powerful and I really don't want to have to go through that trouble again, even to just get one dragon item. --Darg--

Yeah, smithing as it is is fine, that shouldn't change, but I am interested in the customizations. Maybe a better suggestion would be some combination of the two ideas; you smith an unaltered weapon like normal, then use the mould to add the customizations on. Using the barbs as an example; you'd hammer the sword like normal, then use a Barbed Sword mould with a furnace and an extra bar to adhere the barbs to the blade. It could be explained that the heat of the furnace would soften the metal enough to "melt" the barbs to the blade. --Darg--

This reminds me of the flea market idea I had a while ago where there should be a special area filled with special stalls that players could Use their items with and then other players could browse their wares. I may be biased, but I think this is a great idea that is long overdue, also. --Darg--

What a truly horid idea! I mean, I go to the Wild to mine, and I know and respect the danger that represents since it is, y'know, the Wild. If I get killed out there with a full load of Mith, Addy or whatever, I'm understandably upset, but I don't quibble over it because there is an inherent risk to it. HOwever, if I were to be killed with a full load of Mith bars when going to smith them at, say, Doric's, then I'd be extremely angry (the actual word I'm thinking of starts with P and rhymes with "mist") because the non-Wild is supposed to be safe (with the exception of aggressive monsters, but that's different). So, no, this wouldn't happen and shouldn't have even been thought of in the first place. I'm not one to flame, but this deserves it. --Darg--

I like the idea of getting more prayer exp for burying in graveyards and outside altars too. It makes sense from a story-perspective, too. Saradomin's presence is more prevalent in holy places, so you get a bigger blessing for burying bones in those places. --Darg--

Prayer- Needs a fix...not ran about protecting btw...lol...

What does that have to do with the discussion? Nothing. Keep your elitist p2p rhetoric for the f2p vs p2p threads... Anyway, I agree, that stopping the current action whenever you click on something else is annoying; I can't count the number of times I've had to re-click a rock when mining in the Wild because I switched my Run to Walk. I can understand having a bit of a pause or lag in the previous action for certain things, like eating or prayer activating, but completely stopping is silly and unrealistic. --Darg-- -
To add to what lpinkus said; imagine being a lvl 3 fresh from Tutorial Island, and your very first RS experience upon appearing in Lumbridge is to get attacked and have all your things (as paltry as they may be) stolen! This is what happened when the whole world was PvP and why Jagex made the Wilderness. I, for one, would hate it going back to being that way. Not because I have anything "rare" (my most valuable items are only my full Rune), but because the levels of noobishness would skyrocket in the game far higher than they are now, making the game virtually unplayable. --Darg--
-
Thanks! That should help me at least, since I get that same message on some ads too. --Darg--
-
Wow, that's actually a good argument (better than your other one, anyway), but on the other hand, Rangers are so overpowered as it is that allowing them to make their own equipment would ruin the balance (again). It's all about the checks and balances. --Darg--
-
I agree; I value my Rune Full Helm and 2h more than my Plate because I can easily go to Oziach to replace my Plate if it's lost, but I'd have to either pay a ridiculously high price to anothe player for the 2h or full helm, or risk something else to get my full helm back from a Greater Demon in the deep Wild. I know I'm not the only one who values certain things over others on a basis other than gp worth, which is what the current death items are based on. --Darg--
-
Dragon pick would be kinda cool, I suppose, but I'd hate it if it had instant-ore ability; all the p2p elitists would go to the f2p mining areas and hog all the rocks! That would suck. If this were to ever come to pass, the two-ore per mine idea is good, as is the greater chance of getting gems. --Darg--
-
Yeah, that would over-complicate everything, I think. Let's leave those skill areas alone, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...since they don't break now, then you see where I'm going. --Darg--

Yes, before anyone flames me or shoots me down or calls me a noob, I know many other people have suggested a game clock for RS before on many other sites and such, and I know that people keep saying that "it would be too hard to program" or "it would be too hard to coordinate" or whatever, but I wonder why? Why would it be so hard to make the RS time coincide with the GMT for all worlds and timezones? I can understand how it would be hard to make an RS clock to display "proper time" for every timezone, but why bother? The point of having a Runescape clock would be to make coordinating things like parties and wars easier. Instead of saying "Drop party, World 1, 11pm Eastern Time!" you could say "Drop party, World 1, 23:00 RS time!" Then, someone in the Pacific zone wouldn't have to figure out how many timezones that is away and factor in daylight savings and all that other baloney; they'd just log in at 23:00 RS time. Of course, this would be pointless unless Jagex put the "current RS time" on the front page so instead of having to login and out a hundred times just to check the RS clock, you can just connect to the main page and find out from there. --Darg--

Gadien, ignore the stpid people who can't understand why people would want to stabilize rare prices. I, for one, think this is a stellar idea! Granted, I'd probably never be able to buy the items because I don't make that much...at all...or even want a rare, but for those who want one and don't trust the greedy marketers *coughep1demiccough*, this is a great idea. And who knows, by introducing more rares into circulation, it might even bring the street price down to more reasonable levels. To the person who said the requirements should be lowered: No. Something like this would need high level requirements to prevent lazy noobs from getting it. And I don't want to hear about "Any noob can get their levels that high in a few months". Baloney. I've been playing for years and only have lvl71 combat, 72 mining and 63 smithing, and about all I train is mining and smithing. If anything, I'd suggest raising the required skills (fishing and cooking) a bit to thwart the autoers. Otherwise, though, this is a great suggestion. Somehow I doubt Jagex would use it, but it's a good idea anyway. --Darg--
-
I'm sure I've been reported for autoing a few times, too, since I do all of those things; I rarely talk while mining, follow the exact same path nearly all the time and sometimes sit still in odd places when I'm doing something in another window. I've even been known to hit empty/smoking rocks once in a while, too. And guess what? I'm not an autoer! I'm actually sitting at my computer the whole time. Now, all of them being lvl 20 with the same picks and following the same paths does give me pause, but it's hardly conclusive. Go ahead and keep reporting them, because you might be right, but you should probably also give most people the benefit of the doubt. --Darg--
