  1. Seriously though, all you non-Aussies are just missing out. Although i must say, i much prefer milk to coffee with my Tim Tams, not that we have them very often.
  2. Dorothy Mackellar, I love a Sunburnt Country (I don't think that's the actual name of the poem, but it's very famous). You could run with the whole patriotism thing, feeling attached to the uniqueness and variety within our country, which in turn reflects the population and our culture. You could show that the ideals of Australians haven't changed much in terms of patriotism over the years, that being an Australian is synonymous with accepting a multicultural population. Appreciating what is around you without any notion of prejudice is key, and that it is something that will need to be kept alight within future generations as Australia becomes more and more multicultural. Yeah, just throwing ideas around...
  3. Blind prejudice and generalisations, as well as people who refute logic, rather than anything in particular, but generally, most annoying things can be encompassed under these two ideas.
  4. Growing up. I Don't want to get old ha... loose my energy and athleticism/flexibility. Gain that 'adult' mind set, the mundane, boring, unimaginative.
  5. Ha damn it, i was going to post that -.- It's true though, it's amazing. My dream room is his real room.
  6. Woah man! How are ya? What've you been doing? Long time no speak. Sticking around for long? And i tend to agree with Zierro, generally everything seems better in retrospect that it was at the time.
  7. Oh, really? I never would have guessed! And here we all were thinking that Wiki is a source of accurate information... i just tell the guy because he seem to believe it all true by reading on wikipedia I do believe it, mainly because it is true. I agree, anything read on Wikipedia should be usually taken with a grain of salt, but in the majority of cases it does contain accurate information. Obviously it's not something i'd site for an essay or report. In this case as teh_langzor pointed out, all the information is sourced, and the sources are correct. Not to mention that he has been interviewed numerous times about his story and if the whole thing was made up someone would have realised by now, all the people who he traded with have confirmed the trade. Oh and thanks for biting my head off for trying to think of a good answer to your question, very mature. Here is the site that explains most of the story in full: http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/ Oh and by the way, spelling & grammar won't do you any harm.
  8. Find a paper clip and start trading....
  9. Fan fiction, where you write a story that uses the characters and locations of a book or movie that has already been published. For example if you wrote a story that was set in the star wars universe and talked about the jedi it would be fanfic. Anything to do with runescape, or warhammer etc etc. Basically Blipo wants an entirely original story arc and characters. You could, of course, to a sci fi novel where the characters have telekinetic powers, or you could set it in the medieval times, as long as it makes no specific reference to someone else's work. Btw, nice to see you around again Blipo.
  10. I ended up buying it off itunes i enjoyed it so much. A thoroughly original story line, and i loved the music. It only cost me six bucks, and i'm happy knowing that all of the money is going to the people who created it, rather than a big production company.
  11. You're an artist, it's up to your interpretation. You're looking for other people's votes, so you're trying to appeal to what makes them think of nature when they see your photo. I would definitely count clouds as nature, as they're not man made (in the majority). I'll enter a photo tomorrow. Can we clear up whether or not panorama's are considered a manipulation. I vote no, as what's the difference between stitching and buying a camera that shoots in a panoramic format. It's the skill of the photographer that determines if the photos can fit together correctly, ammount of exposure wise, and it's still the photographer's feel for a shot that would have him or her take the photo, it's the limitations of his equipment that aren't enabling him/her to take it as they would wish.
  12. Has anyone here read the quartet that starts with Mortal Engines? By Phillip Reeve. The others are Predator's Gold, Infernal Devices and A Darkling Plain. Easily my favourite series of books, as far as i'm aware it is an incredibly original idea. I spose the best description of the genre i can give is steampunk.. anyone who enjoy's sci-fi/fantasy will definitely enjoy these. The last chapter of A Darkling Plain is the best chapter of any book i have ever read, incredibly moving. On another note, his dark materials, artemis fowl, The wind on fire and the lord of the rings are all series that i rate highly. EDIT: Oh, and Winnie the Pooh, the Complete Collection of Stories and Poems, An incredibly amazing book, i don't know how i forgot it.
  13. Awesome idea, it's nice to have an incentive to write something for once. I'll give it a shot, but i guess we'll see how we go. My biggest suggestion to everyone is to plan everything, completely plot out the story and then go and just expand on what you already have, otherwise you'll get stuck here and there a lot. Plus, you can set your self mini goals by saying 'i'll write up to x, have a chocolate' ha, something along those lines.
  14. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is 'Wiffle Ball?'
  15. Ha ok, just found out this hilarious story from a friend of mine, thought you all would like to know, as it relates to the whole relationship thing. Basically, a friend of his, unwittingly, had one of the most amazing love triangles going that i've ever heard of. Believe it or not, he was going out with two girls at the same time, and the two girls were going out with each other. Each relationship was not aware that the others were happening. They never realised, this was about a month ago when my friend found out, and the guy was just introduced to him at a party, so i wouldn't know what's happening now. Yeah. Thought i'd just tell a story ha. I'm kinda of torn between liking the guy because he was in an amazing situation, and really not liking him at all because he was running with two girlfriends at the same time.

Sounds good, i'm doing singing as my music practical for my HSC, the Australian leaving-school exams. Do we have a date to have entries in by?
  17. Much appreciated. I have updated the current projects section in the OP, and would love colour scheme suggestions for my room!
  18. Thanks for all the comments guys :D And hey RM! (the other one, hehe) Connorb, i don't see a problem with it as long as i'm referenced as having taken that photo, with a link to my deviantart page, i don't see a problem. This is presuming that your portfolio makes it onto the web that is. My devart page is http://remoteman472.deviantart.com/
  19. G'day. I haven't been active in the Gallery in a long time. I used to be. Something like 45% of all of my posts were posted here, but i rarely do anymore. I've decided to put up a small gallery for you lot to comment on. Seeking C/C for current things, etc etc. So stop by a while, have a browse, leave a comment :D About myself I'm a year 11 student in Sydney, Australia. I'm all self taught, as i have no one to tell me how to do things. At the beginning of this year i chose Industrial Technology Multimedia as a subject, and i love it. We predominantly create graphics, we've only done a small travel kiosk/application so far, and are starting to film a movie next term, with accompaning advertising etc. I hope to have a career once i leave school in the graphic design industry, 3d modeling/animation, website design, advertising etc. Current Projects: [hide=] As you can see, this is a new version of my room in the 3d section of this post, the one below being an accurate representation of the horrible colour scheme. I am in the process of choosing colour schemes for my bedroom. I have designed some shelving, a mirror and a bed to complement it, as i really need new ones. C/C is much appreciated, as well as colour scheme suggestions![/hide] 3D work: I work 3D in C4D [hide=] This is a fully-to-scale model of my bedroom, colour scheme included. I decided to do this for both practice in the C4D and so that i can decide with a colour scheme for my room so that i can paint it in about two weeks. It's still not finished. It probably never will be up to the standard that i would love it to be. And i still haven't decided on a colour scheme. This is a promotional poster for my school, the SRC is running a talent quest early next term. I don't know which i like, this is what i would love c/c for :D Other suggestions are very welcome.[/hide] Posters/GFX: All of this has been created in Photoshop CS. [hide=]The following are posters that i have created for various dances at my school: This is the background that i made for my current myspace layout: [/hide] Photography: I am an avid photographer, i take photos every saturday instead of doing a sport for my school. I also photograph for leisure quite often. I own a Pentax ISTDS, a 6mp DSLR, but i hope to buy a Pentax K20D within a month, that's a 14.6 mpg DSLR, 4 FPS etc etc. [hide=] [/hide] [hide=] [/hide] I'll update this every now again, opinions/thoughts/cookies?
  20. Jade Gatt and Ryan Lappin according to wikipedia. I wonder what they are doing now, good question. Clearly the show was in its prime in the late 90's, when all the good shows were on. I had no idea it was still going until 2005. Toasted TV.... just not good enough. I like the fact that they ran with the culinary theme though.

I don't have a problem with a kiss on the cheek at all, i greet all my female friends like that, it's the norm here. Either that or a hug. On the lips i would reserve for a girlfriend though. With guys, a handshake is acceptable, sometimes a hug, depending on the person. Other people's cultures and what is socially acceptable has always been a topic that has interested me, how those two things affect a person's opinion on the world and how they act towards other people.
  22. [hide=] You mean this game, excuse the cobwebs. ;) Yeah I remember pogs, collected them to, and played alot, I was the best with my metal limited edition poisen pirate slammer. ;) Haha. Other crazes that went through my primary was yo-yos (real flash ones, haha), chatter rings, pogs (we called them caps), Koosh balls. We even had this awesome wooden car track that went down this big hill at school, four lanes, twisted around each other. And at the bottom there was a concrete drain, I lost so many cars down there. :( [/hide] We still have that exact trouble! I remember the box well, fantastic game. Years of my childhood were spent playing the original monopoly and cluedo at my grandma's house with the cousins. Great times. Anyone remember the tv show mighty ducks? Not the movie, the animated cartoon. Used to like that, as well as most of the shows mentioned before. Cheese TV anyone? Only those from Australia would know it, possibly NZ. It was the show in the morning that broadcasted all of the good cartoons, channel 10. Used to love getting up early to watch them whilst eating my breaky. I always used to ring up for those competitions too, but to no avail. One of my best friends won one of the competitions once, i forget what he won though.
  23. I'm from sydney, and to be honest, i don't see how this can be true. I live in the more wealthier part of the city, where you would think that there would be more overweight people because of the abundance of money, no? I rarely see anyone that i would describe as obese, and not that many people who are fat. Not 60% of the population...
  24. 17 yesterday, doesn't feel like it though ha, nothings changed... not that i thought it would.
  25. I was on a holiday in england in 2003 when they had a heatwave, a whole week with temperatures up around 38-40 degrees C. Being from Australia, where in the middle of summer that's pretty common, i just couldn't understand how all the people who died did. In a way, i've still got the 'Mate, just deal with it, quite complaining' attitude ha. It's interesting how being acclimatised to a specific climate affects you so much.
