  2. Here's a question for you all: Do you think, if you REALLY wanted to; you could make just as much money as the football players do? Everybody has a dream. Some people accept what is given to them, others actually get off their arse to go and get it. The way I see it, you can complain about it... Or you can just go and do it.
  3. Hehe I met DarkRick from tip it about 3 or 4 years ago.. Maybe more I don't remember. Anywho.. We're still friends and he's coming to my 21st next Saturday :XD:
  4. LOL :XD: sounds more interesting than my day
  5. Hi Lag you seem to be a very caring person and I know how easy it can be to become angry with the world, especially by some of the people in it. I have two quotes for you and they̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re so true; I hope it cheers you up a little. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing in the world that ever has" - Margaret Mead "Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the people who do" ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Going from memory I think it was Deepak Chopra who said this ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ I could be wrong I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m only going from memory, I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have the time to check. I have a double major in contemporary social and community issues so if you ever need someone to converse with about social issues and ideologies please by all means feel free to contact me. I understand how daunting these types of issues can be for some people. However going with what Bubs said earlier, if you want to climb the meritocracy at the moment you need to earn it to earn it, so to speak. Depending on which country you live in and what ideology it's following at the moment that is pretty much how it goes. People are just as much to blame as the government an example of this is... We don't want people stealing our shiny plasma TVs or breaking into our flashy new cars and the demand is on the rise for people wanting to protect their stuff from other people....so THEN..... New laws are enforced. So how do we promote an ideology that gives everyone in the world a fair chance? The same way every ideology ever has, that group of committed people and that same individual who had the crazy thought that they could change the world..... What can government do against a majority of invisible numbers, other than adjust? If those committed people, that crazy person and majority of invisible numbers come into media and influence - It dominates the population. This is what many history, social education & journalism teachers mean when they ask their students to "wake up". On an even more interesting note - Humanity degrees are being stopped all over QLD, Australia and enrolments, cancelled. They say it's to cut back costs, however could it be the QLD government don't want to be challenged by those who are educated enough to stop them? There's a provoking thought for you to think about. Especially when the Australian Liberal government portrays Conservative values. Could it be Australia is turning into the new America and those who are educated of the formulating differences, are being restricted? Let's face it - Johnny Howard has a very firm grip over Australia, even if noone does like him. Ever wondered why? - There's a bit of research for the Aussies who are interested. You'll learn more from reading about it than you will from me.
  6. May 8th I'm 21 in 2 days..eek :ohnoes:
  7. Quantum physics has always facinated me. I admire the people who dare to speak out and be different - Usually they're onto something. I have a lot of books and dvds on quantum physics - If you're interested on any titles and some links to some really good online videos give me a yell. Me sitting here and explaining would be pointless - You'd benefit from it much more by reading and viewing it yourself. (Not only that most of it is that complicated in my opinion and I wouldn't be able to briefly make sense of it for you in a post anyway)
  8. Quite a thought provoking topic Syco. The universe and other space/science topics have always facinated me but my knowledge on these subjects isn't top notch. Personally I think assassin has a very valid point and it does make a lot of logical sense. I wish I could give you an answer personally however I couldn't, I'd be grasping at straws.
  9. You do have an interesting point about the celebrities. Can I ask everyone how you would feel if Harry did die during war, would you make a bigger fuss over it than a normal soldier? Just curious. Choco - Could you please elaborate on "The prince will jeoprodize everyone around him" I'd like to hear your reasons for why you personally believe it.
  10. Back to the original problem as it seems people have entirely missed the concept of this post: Tigra, what do you think about Harry going to war? I'd like to hear your opinion on the topic :D
  11. Have a look at online peer reviewed science articles, also go to the library and look at some books. You'll find real photos there.
  12. Do you enjoy psychology books? That will always make you think and challenge the way you think.
  13. I have a suggestion, if you would like to hear it. Having a poll could produce more accurate results than postings in forums. I'm not sure if your aim is to construct a collaborative discussion on the topic or for stat purposes. It could indeed even be both! I will not feel offended if you disagree or do not use my suggestion, it was just an idea intended to help you. Good luck on your topic; it certainly is an interesting and creative topic!
  14. Wrong prince, idiot. If you're going to continue with your feeble attempts at humour, at least try and be accurate. I'm sorry that my comment seems to have made you feel offended : That was not my intention. My perception of Prince Harry is that he indeed has big ears; just because my perception is not in line with your perception does not mean that I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m neither right, nor wrong. I understand that you thought I was thinking of Prince William and felt the need to point out the mistake you thought I had made. I appreciate your attempt to correct me, that was quite thoughtful of you :D Just because Bob thinks something is humerous does not mean Julie is going to find it humerous. I think from that example, you just may understand the concept of perception. Clearly I am not an idiot; I'm an academic psych student so if you're going to continue with your feeble attempts to make generalisations, please do so accurately  Thank you
  15. If he gets kidnapped I say let him die :P Or at least cut off his ears, they are kind of big hehe... I'll stop now.
  16. Valid point - But I still say if you sign the dotted line to give your life, you knew the risks before you even went.
  17. I say let Harry do what he wants to do. Just because he's a prince doesn't mean he can't fight for his country like any other man or woman. Good on him. They are obviously going to target his [wagon] on purpose but if that's what he wants to do, I'm not going to lose any sleep if he dies. I'm horrible :) Does it really matter if other people die when harry dies? You sign up to the army as a number and you die as a number. Anyone going to war has a death wish, I'm a cow I know but I'd rather be blown up with a prince than on the front line buried face down in my own faeces. Wah wah wah other troops are in more danger, you sign up to give your life anyway so what the heck is your point?????? lol
  18. I wouldn't rely on wikipedia or google Log into peer reviewed journal articles (the information you get will be approved by professionals rather than every day joes) Not that I'm saying those websites aren't helpful, indeed they can be. However some of their information can be a little off. By the way Newton and Einstein both had bipolar disorder. If that's what you're referring to you could always private message me to ask about symptoms and common traits.
  19. swallowing gum is mostly harmless but not recommended. ingested gum simply passes through your digestive system like any other bit of roughage. the insoluble gum base, (which gives each stick its chewable properties), prevents gum from being absorbed into your body. Instead, it's simply excreted in a day or two. It might not stuff up your system, but that doesn't mean it's meant to be eaten :shame:  HOWEVER... There's a reason this is considered a bad habit: Chewing and swallowing sugarless gum can contribute to abdominal pain, gas, and diarrhea. Yummy :-#
  20. They assassinated the WRONG president! Sigh "Noone died when Clinton lied" haha.. love that hippy badge.
  21. Although I favour the neo-liberalism ideology I despise government. The amount of lies they tell through authority and media coverage is phenomenal. I don't even watch television anymore it's that ludicrous. I turn the set off and read books instead.
  22. People who tell 'facts' because they heard them from someone else and believe them to be true. People who try to be smart and give explainations about (eg topics like health, medicine, behaviour, thoughts) without a degree. People who are not professionals, who try to give professionals information. Eg a bus driver trying to tell a pilot how to fly a plane.
  23. To answer your first question: I'll explain it for you in terms you can (hopefully) understand. I'm a current honours psychology student. Conscience: the ID = the devil in you ego = the balance of you super ego = the angel of you Eg. A lawyer who was training the new person was threatened by the new persons work because he was very good at what he did. At a meeting with head office the chairman asked the lawyer how his new staff member was going and whether he was fit for a promotion. The lawyer, feeling threatened that the new person was indeed extremely good at his job felt that a promotion could put him at risk. He lied to the chairman (ID conscience) and said that he wasn't doing his job properly... However the new person showed potential (Super ego - he added this bit in so he didn't feel as guilty for the lie) and he should be re-evaluated at another time (ego - the balancing of ID and superego, the middle and final outcome) Basically the ego is a compromise between the ID (devil) and the Super ego (angel) Sigmund Freud explains conscious and unconscious as a metaphor (eg. as cold as ice). He refers to the conscious and unconscious mind as an iceberg. The tiny peak that is out of the water and visible is the conscious, for a tiny bit of the iceberg under the water is the preconscious and 3/4ers of the iceberg that is not visable is the unconscious. Human behaviour is largely influenced by unconscious behaviour. Therefore using your conscience for decision making isn't always fantastic as you undermine the true motives behind it. Personally I believe noone should be able to dictate to you how to influence your decisions. I hope this has helped.
  24. Is there an age limit to have fun now? You're only as old as you feel. Have fun live longer. There is more to being old than just working and paying bills. I'm 20 and could care less about others opinions about adults playing games. Infact majority of my levels are gained by the hour travelling each direction to get to and from my education institution 5 days a week. You can live a life and still have time to relax and enjoy being young on the inside.
  25. (eggs) Benedict: Toasted muffin, baby spinach leaves, ham, poached egg, drizzled in hollandaise sauce #-o   =; I suppose it's better than naming your child Florentine rofl.. Because then it would be made of smoked salmon. =D>
