  1. Personally, though i'd recommend buying the magic tree roots over the unenchanted ammies of nature. This being since unless they changed the names it'd say emerald amulet on it and you'd have to read the examine to tell which one...so if they were noted it'd be really easy to be item scammed.
  2. Actually, unless they changed the cannonball xp since May of 2005 you can get 2 xp of ranging for every damage done by the cannon. As for places to train with I'd suggest the dustdevils or the dagannoth at the lighthouse. Aye, dustdevils are in a single combat area, but they have a fast respawn and loads of safe spots. As for the lighthouse that's a good cannoning spot due to the general store to just unnote food whenever you need any to train with.
  3. Personally I'd just suggest the zombie graveyard north of varrock in wilderness lvl 18-22. Past that if you're a member with good defense then the area that requires the ring of visibility with those skeletons. Or, if you're just going for autocasting crumble undead to train with then go for anywhere with any metal of body (or dharok body), rany metal of legs (or dharok legs), archer helm (or guthan helm), rune boots, your pic of vambs, guthix mace (think it autocasts crumble undead), and an obsidian, crystal, or rune shield. That way you will always fail/miss your targets and don't need to change targets.
  4. Drag baxe spec to lower def, and then maybe throw in a dose of Potion of Zamorak. The potion of Zamorak lowers def, and damages your HP, and the Drag baxe spec definately lowers your def too so then just go around with armor off and you should be fine.
  5. Seriously the only reason I never invested the time on a defender is because the stats are wimpy...before I quit RS I had no problem pking anybody with a defender wielded just because that significantly lowers the defense that player could have. That and rangers stupid enough to use MSB's over obby rings were the reasons I loved pking. In fact the only use I see for a rune defender besides showing off is for monster training, and for RC pking.
  6. A simple solution is to not even bring a glory tele...and an easy way to mage train and get the rcing done faster than with the ancient tele would be to Use a home tele (or home tele tablet) with energy pots, and a glory pratically right by the home entrance portal. Past that just hop worlds when you see a RC pker...I'm sure there are a whole lot less of them now than there used to be.
  7. Heh I gave up on the warrior guild when I used to play RS. The main reason is I seriously went through 1.7K tokens and didn't even get the bronze defender. Some people just get all the luck, but on the bright side the zammy book isn't that bad of a substitute and it makes you EeeevvvvviiiiiiiLLLLLLL.
  8. Ranging if you ask me was ruined when slayer came out...seriously that skill caused so many people to start using cannons when it came out, unless they were insane meleers. I mean don't get me wrong I'm clearly an oddball, but when a person that's an oddball is suddenly in the in crowd for doing what they do, and there's no alternative due to the alternatives being even more popular...then you're pretty much in an undesirable position to say the least =P.
  9. Hey be nice to me I've been one of those people to sell an ahrim staff to a general store before...they're just a pain in the neck to sell and I didn't feel like changing magic just to alch 1 staff. Anyway, my best find would of been about 2K chaos runes at the general store...since they're 14 each when one was in stock (I think at the time) that was a decent deal I figured on RSC =P.
  10. Well from the sound of this here is what I'm thinking what's going on behind the scenes at Jagex. As you've been saying this is a pretty recent thing. As well it was probably back in July that they initiated it so that if you X-out in combat with auto off that you won't log out until you're out of combat. Meaning that if you're pking somebody and they were to say run to the axe hut then X-ed out with auto off that they would eventually die. That is a good thing, but one thing I noticed about that same period is that you could have auto-on and modified your keyboard you could just auto attack until the monsters stopped attacking you without having to worry at all about dying (if you were careful.) This results in a way of cheating that isn't macroable and thus impossible for Jagex to stop with how they currently had the system. Now the route they took is a route so that auto attack does get a bit gnarfed, but compared to the alternative of how they have things set up it would be either that or allowing X-ers to X out with auto off and save their own hides literally about 80% of the time. Oh yeah the keyboard modifying I was talking about was simply just wedging something along the lines of a piece of paper in the arrow keys so that their is constant activity on your character so that you'd get a free half hour of training...sure there was random events, but if you're 3 iteming you don't really care about those =P.
  11. Take it from a retired RSer that used to ancient all the way at CW even before the last 2 prayer updates came out...maging by smart ancienters (no matter how smart they are) at CW can always be defeated easily. The 2 solutions are if they are the ahrim magers (like most are) to range them, but if they maged like I used to in verac then you just turn around and mage them to death and they'll die quickly. Past that there is the smite prayer to clean their clock. Seriously, anybody complaining about ancients ruining CW nowadays needs to def train. In fact I'd honestly be suprised if on any world a person could get 150+ kills at CW in the past month, without having friends on the other team and suicide dying at their feet. EDIT: Heh frogmite I'd definately have to disagree with you...people like you that are melee and mage are useless in 1 on 1 death matches against a person with range/mage. Yes, the DDS is a powerful for mage & melee hybrids, but for the Distance & Def tanks you're just a free target that often runs away from frustration and the simple reason is often addy knives and ice and blood barrages.
  12. bah meleers have far more of a variety of specs than any other combat class...seriously as things are the triangle is pretty well balanced...in fact I like in just how it is for f2p pking. Decided that for the time being I'll be f2p and pk due to p2p pking being clan based and for the most part f2p pking is small group based (1-4) so it's very easy to solo :D Anyway, back to the topic come to think about it if the dragon bars were to actually be smithed it shouldn't take 99 smithing to do it, but at least 90 smithing to start a quest to find out where bloody old horvik is now, and have him help you out.
  13. Ahh yes the proverbial dragon Xbow...I'm guessing it'll take a year and half for it to come out. Afterall meleers still don't have their crystal halberd and that elf has been saying she's been working on that tune for well over a year. Anyway, the concept of a dragon ore would just make me the happiest man alive. Although, I think it should require 99 mining, have a respawn time of 40 minutes to an hour, only 1 rock of it and that rock is heavily guarded by lvl 200+ monsters somewhere in the wilderness. Then, have it turn out that the dragon ore isn't even smithable, but needs to be say gave to a dwarf which will smelt the ore into a bar for you at a certain fee of say 500K...past that smithing for anything would be 99 to do, and require the appropriate bars as usual. Down dragon armor prices would go and up would be the happiness of anybody lucky enough to have 99 mining or pk a dragon miner.
  14. The mace really isn't worth it. Seriously take it from me when I got it not even 2 minutes after the update came out...it just stinks as a melee weapon. As well the mage boost is less than the guthix staff, but arguably it can autocast claws of guthix...yet seriously where would you need to autocast claws of guthix outside of the wilderness? Even then I wouldn't recommend taking the time it takes to get the mace to bring a useless weapon like that for pking...but it does look good though :P Mine just stays in the bank. As for the void armor the stats really are nothing to brag about, but I guess if you like quasi-exotic armor to wear then go for it, but just don't bang your head on the wall afterwards...at least the use for it is better than say the gold addy quality armor from CW.
  15. That 3 minute warning is more than enough to defeat wave 59...after you start it you just run off to a noncombat spot and click logout...then when that round is finished your round is saved...then after the update just get back on again and continue.
  16. Have it be a hidden skill, of which you don't see on the skill list UNTIL you complete the same long quest with high requirements that was released that day. Then as say a reward, "Awesome I can now do the new juggling skill!"
  17. Despite your misinterpretation on the KB the range prayers do increase damage. As the KB guide says it boosts range by 15%...nowhere does it say it boosts range accuracy. Therefore, like every other combat skill it's affecting the skill itself. Logically for rangers this means increased accuracy and damage. Anyway, as for how this affects pking let's just put it this way...ever since I read this on the BTS I've been stocking up on my more unusual and what used to be called "noobish" maging and ranging strategies. However, now they're perfect for range/mage pking. As well, now I don't worry at all about not bringing a dds since it's just not necessary. Seriously, I would say that the toughest hybrids out now are either range/mage (like me) or melee/range. This means that a lot of people either way are going to be ticked, but for the time being the melee/range hybrid pkers don't know a dime about how to use their advantages. Meanwhile though I noticed that throughout the day of pking that some mage/range hybrids started adapting pretty well to tearing apart anyone their lvl to 10 lvls higher than them that came in their way in groups up to 2-3 when they are out soloeing. In otherwords, "Death to you all!" Note: Group p2p pking is still the advisable method of pking and I would strongly recommend not solo p2p pking, especially right now...unless you really really don't mind giving your stuff away within an hour.
  18. I like the "Searching for the Myereque" series...what's not to love? They have werewolves...vampires...short people making fun of Harry Potter, and so forth. It's just a good plot series that's overlooked. Personally, I think people just like the "Plague City" series due to the death altar, but I'm thinking the "Searching for the Myereque" series will give us a blood altar once we get to Draken's castle. =P. Sure...the elves probably have a soul altar, but blood runes are generally more useful. That and it'll be ages before a soul altar comes out.
  19. Hitting the Print Screen button then pasting the image onto Paint will work. Or better yet is to press Alt + Print Screen then pasting that onto Paint (or a similar program.) Since, the latter will take a screenie of the window, so that you don't have all the taskbar garbage.
  20. Well the sequel to the new fairy quest gives access to an area that grows starflowers...so just put a bunch of those in some vials, then go to the next realm and fight those 149's that drop some claws...grind up those claws and throw them in the potions. Badda-bing-badda-boom free 130 xp per potion.
  21. I still hope that there's a juggling combat skill...now that would just be awesome and comic relief. Just picture this here a group of lvl 80 pkers get wiped out by a combat 116 guy running around and juggling drunken dwarfs. Then, he throws the drunken dwarves at them where they start throwing rocks at the lvl 80's...now that's something that would get me to play RS alone for another year, just to train in that skill
  22. Well I would first take a twist of this Magic + Construction (Cast houses on top of players.) or Cooking + Slayer. Alright, how many more stinking heads of cabbage do I have to kill to make your STUPID COLESLAW?!
  23. Too lazy to look around for the pictures, but I have a picture of l6vi somewhere...for some of you newer players back in 2002 he was #1 on the highscores for quite some time, and even early 2003 I think...man those were the days back when a 99 skill was actually something worth bragging about lol. Also, I'm friends with minerman69 and still go pking with him time to time, but I just don't have the pictures of him. (#10 on the highscores.)
  24. Heh pking isn't even a challenge anymore either...I feel your frustration and dissapointment. That's why I play RS once a week now...I did take up playing RS classic for awhile since things were more difficult back in those days, but I'm not really loaded on money so I can't afford to teleport around there...that and there's the whole "walking" thing opposed to being able to run :P
  25. Actually, if you ask me unless my Geometry is wrong both ways will work and still be called a pyramid. The first way is the way I generally think of when I hear the term pyramid. This way has a base that has 3 sides and then the faces are angled at 60 degrees to meet at the center and up. Now the way that you are thinking of is with a 4 sided base and a 45 degree angle where each side is facing the center on that 45 degree angle...so like the pyramids generally used by the Egyptians otherwords.
