RSC had all the Golden names? Favorite rs names?
redserpent4 replied to TommieZzZ's topic in RuneScape Classic
lightning was a good name, jesus too. and yeh i sent a message to jagex about changing your name in 2004 and they said they were working on it, though they also said it wouldn't be ready too soon. I guess they were honest at least lol. its not really hard to find good names in rs2, i made xipe toteck, Onida and Chicoatl in 2004/2005 and they are pretty unique at least, i guess most people wouldn't reeally get the meaning though -
yer probably but thats if you can be bothered to get 175 quest points first. Most people get rune gloves and call it a day, its alot cheaper too.

if they got paid more, a marine biologist.

are we gaining or losing players in rs?
redserpent4 replied to Star_Fox's topic in General Discussion
probably losing, i know alot of my friends are quitting. I think it seems constant because alot of people are using 2 or 3 accounts but in reality the number of new players does not outweigh the number quitting i mean the total number of players in the world. -
died to connection lost at the hellhounds and lost guthans spear, fury, fire cape and some other stuff. got fire cape again. Sold my santa and bought full guthans, fury, zerker ring, d legs and sq and so on. Went to a slayer task in the kalphite tunnels and got a minor power cut, enough for me to not be able to do anything but not enough to stop me figthing so i could see my character losing hp and dieing and i could do anything. I think im pretty unlucky 8-)

Granite Mining, Now Harder To Powermine?
redserpent4 replied to Seanthorn's topic in General Discussion
it demands as much attention payed to mine one and drop one than mine 28 and drop 28. You have to click for every new ore so you couldn't lay back, browse forums, watch t.v or anything because your inventory doesn't fill up with rocks all by it's onesy. other than that i agree with your post. The granite mining was very useful, there were loads of rocks and very few were ever taken by other players. as i said before the xp was comparable with iron if slightly better at granite rocks so i imagine after a little while people will just get used to either carrying alot of waterskins or using iron. It's true that the same standards should technically be applied to towns and cities in the desert but i really doubt that would happen because of quests, and the massive amount of people who afk combat at the bandits. -
What do you think the most respected 99 cape will be?

Granite Mining, Now Harder To Powermine?
redserpent4 replied to Seanthorn's topic in General Discussion
i can understand why this would be an annoying update. However, it really doesn't make much difference. I tried both granite and iron when i was mining to 85 and i found that they are pretty similar xp over an hour. maybe 2k xp per hour more at granite at most. Its not a massive blow. At 84, i was still not always 1 hitting the granite while i was consistently 1 hitting the iron, it equates to similar xp over time, mining to 85 from 70 at iron could take maybe, 4-6 hours longer than granite which when considering the time you spend on getting it, is no great increase. -
Me too, I would be against panda fur, but what is wrong with plentiful rabbit fur? Nothing. If i made a coat out of human scalps and one out of panda skin, which would be worse? Human because its people, or panda coz its rarer?

I'm guessing you don't know very much about any of these experiments, because if you had read anything about them you'd know what they were to achieve. Provide me with a link to the papers for that research and I'll read them for you (since you obviously haven't read them) and tell you what it was to achieve. You're just listening to tabloid hype and being too lazy to find out for yourself. Researchers don't get grants to do things for fun. There is always a point to what they are doing. perhaps i did not express my thoughts properly, but thanks i do know what im talking about, i studied this in depth for an ethics paper i did 2 years ago and its a consideration you have to know about when you are studying or have studied, verterinary sciences, biology and chemistry. I wont pick out any more examples, i'll just state my opinion which is (as i stated in my first post) that for medical research, animal testing is a valid means of scientific study. I don't have the links to that paper, and thats because i finished using that particular source when i finished the ethics paper 2 years ago. The point of the experiment was if i remember correctly to study the effects of various stimuli on the brain functions of the monkeys. The stimuli were things like physical pain, fear and stress. They were given electric shocks, they were made to listen to the sounds of their own species as animals were killed, they were prevented from sleeping and kept in tiny cages. I did not see the practical application of these results either then or now and i certainly don't understand the benefit this experiment had on humans. I also don't see why the monkeys had to have the top of their skulls removed. I'm not disputing that there must have been a reason which meant the funds were given to the scientists and im not gonna go brick their houses, i just don't believe that every non-cosmetic test carried out on animals is valid as something which will benefit humans.

They didn't do it for fun you know... They didn't just get drunk and think 'hey lets sew an ear to a mouse'. That was done during development of methods to grow flesh on other animals before transplanting it to a person who needs it. For example, you lose your ear in an accident - you can then have a new one grown and grafted on. ok scratch that example, how about the one where they cut open a monkey's head very neatly, just neatly enough to go all round the brain but not actually damage it, isn't it nice to have a monkey with half a head which is still alive and clearly in pain? what did that one achieve?
-
Medical testing, largely acceptable. Cosmetic testing, never acceptable. I say medically it's largely acceptable because it is for a worthwhile cause, fundamentally i would like to think that a human's life isn't worth more than an animals but it's a very difficult idea to justify. Therefore if there is a chance that through the possible death of 5 rats, we may find a cure for cancer or aids, its worth it. The crap like sticking an ear on a mouse's back or whatever is not worth it though, that achieves nothing. Cosmetically its not acceptable in my opinion, if your company is worried that your shampoo is gonna burn skin, try it on an employees or your own, why should animals suffer for a beauty product?

Should the tradeable items of the past be taken out off rs?
redserpent4 replied to MasterSamus's topic in General Discussion
yeah the vast amounts of real life cash which are spent on phats etc is the one major concern i think jagex would have with rares. -
Should the tradeable items of the past be taken out off rs?
redserpent4 replied to MasterSamus's topic in General Discussion
Its a fact, at least, if it is based off of the same way that lineage II did it. And I know for a *fact* that in lineage II if you go above 2.1bil it will turn into a negative number. Then something else is used. If you try to make a pile bigger than 2147483647 it just says "you can't make a pile that big" and no, rares should not be removed from the game, the rares are doing little harm, they are just there. If you want one, you have to work for it and that's all there is to it -
Lady Sovereign, the true definition of a chav?
redserpent4 replied to Viktorkrum77's topic in Off-Topic
every self respecting British person has a bad story to tell about chavs or more than one. I've gotten into fights with chavs 3 or 4 times and every single time it was them who hit first, they just aren't used to people actually fighting back. I hope the chav phenomenon is short lived but i don't know. I'm also planning to leave the country when i can and i think alot of people my age are too. The place is going down the crapper and theres nothing we can do about it. -
Saddam Hussein's Execution and Trial - discuss
redserpent4 replied to assassin_696's topic in Off-Topic
It's pretty obvious that they are failing in those attmepts so far. For the Western governments, Saddam's trial was a difficult one, America and Britain should not have influenced it (whether they did or not i do not know) and certainly his final sentence was best chosen by an Iraqi court, as indeed it was. The thing to do now for America and Britian would be to worry less about whether the trial was fair and whether it should have been carried out differently and to worry more about how on earth they are going to help set up the democracy they want with a civil war appearing to seem more and more likely with each passing day and each passing bomb or gunman's attack against other Iraqi's. The country is tearing itself apart and if Bush wants to retain any kind of credibilty as the leader and defender of the free world, he needs to sort the mess he made out over there. -
I would call you strudle simply because i once had an imaginary friend named strudle, but he moved to switzerland. (and your name starts with str) Therefore, you would replace him. I'm down. Its pronounced "stroo-an" The thing is that teachers have called me "strawn", "str-ow-n" and even struban once. How is that even similar

My name is Struan. It's scottish. Anyone guess how to pronounce it coz almost all my teachers got it wrong at first. And anyone know anyone else with my name?

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
redserpent4 replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
strength because of pest control and the sheer number of people with it. Pest control makes all combat training easy but strength i respect less because there are over 11800 people with 99 strenght. Its just a shame for the 5 or 6 thousand who got it before pest control that an update was made which takes the piss as far as combat training is concerned. Fletching and cooking are also really common. -
i see alot of people runnign about in them, and i see alot of people with between 10 and 100 santas in their banks. Either way, even if there are only 2000 left, that is nowhere close to running out any time soon
