best place to 'fail curse'
There are many, many places that will work just fine. All you need is any place where the monsters can't reach you. So you could try: -- cast from the key room in the Varrock sewers across the water into the 4 zombie room. It's perfectly safe and it's a multi-combat zone so you will almost always have a target. -- white knight castle. Try the screen/torture room on the second floor. Cast through the screens. Again, it's a multi-combat zone. -- Port Sarim jail -- Caged red monk under the Varrock palace stairs. -- Caged lesser in the wizzy tower. Multi-combat zone. -- Al-Kharid scorpions from above on the rim. -- river ducks Just make sure that you wear gear that gives you the lowest magic attack stat. With a bronze full helm, chest plate, legs, boots, dragonhide vambraces, and an elemental staff you can get to about -68. That's enough to always fail when casting Curse. All you really need is a safe multi-combat spot. Hope this helps

Weapon speed
Scimmtars are the best weapons for training. It also depends on the defense armor of the monster. For example: City Guards wearing chain are weak against a stab attack. The Baxe and scimmy are good for slash but weak for stabbing. So to fight thoses guys, you would probably do better with a long sword. So, really, you have to know: -- the speed of your weapon -- the strength of your weapon -- and what the weakness is in your enemy in order to pick the best weapon to use. Hope this helps

70 - 80 Ranged
You need to earn, at most, 1,248,441 in Range exp. If you don't pick up your arrows then you will need about: Bronze: 65750 Iron: 65050 Steel: 58400 If you do pick them up, then you will need about: Bronze: 16440 Iron: 16260 Steel: 14600 Casting a Curse on the monster first can sometimes make it easier to pick up your arrows with the loot pile. I got to 80 Ranging (in F2P) using the 2 Lesser Demons on the top of Crandor Island. Hope this helps

Bronze Iron Or Steel Arrows?
Well, the max hit for each arrow type vs Range level is about Bronze = (Range + 14)/9 Iron = (Range + 15)/9 Steel = (Range + 14)/8 So, IMHO, Iron and Steel are really not that much better than Bronze. In the long run, the better arrows will do more damage, but unless you are PKing, I always preferred to make my money last longer by training with bronze. (I got to level 80 in F2P with Bronze against Lesser Demons, lol ) Better yet, train down in the SoS on arrow dropping monsters. That way you may be able to replace what you use. I always liked to pull the monster over to my safe spot by hitting it with a Curse spell first. That way, all of my arrows end up in the monster loot pile when it dies. Finally, pick up your arrows if you can. You can average about 4 shots out of each one before they break. Paying for 1000 arrows is a lot easier than paying for 4000 arrows. Hope this helps

f2p rune mining outfit
A few ideas: 1) Make a level 40 scout that looks like a runite ore miner. This will tend to make the PKers reveal themselves and attack. You could make a level 3 scout but a smart PKer would hold back from revealing himself since he (probably) can't attack the scout. Plus, a level 3 scout at the Rune rocks is (almost) a sure sign that the real miner is about to reveal himself. 2) Consider a second scout in the Lava maze area. This scout could be a level 3 3) Know the multicombat areas. Use the Tip It wildy map A common escape technique is to turn off auto-retaliate and run west into the Ice Giant/Warrior area. Then run south-east until you can log off. 4) You could consider taking nothing but an Addy pic. Mine 2 runite ore and then world hop to get another 2. If Pkers attack then don't bother running. Right before you die drop the Addy pic and turn on your Protect Extra Item prayer. That way you will keep all 4 of your runite ore The Addy pic won't become visible for another minute so the PKers (probably) won't even realize that it's there and won't get it as loot. The red dot from your bones on the mini-map will "cover" it. Make sure that you thank your PKers for the free Home Teleport from the hi level wildy. 5) If you want to keep your Addy pic (1200 gp) then don't get that 4th runite ore (11k gp) 6) Know the runite ore respawn time equation. It's RespawnTIme = 1386 - #Players/3 seconds So if 1458 players were logged on then the respawn time would be 1386 - 1458/3 = 900 seconds = 15 minutes Hope this gives you a few ideas

Ways To Combat The Grind?
Well, that's pretty much how Runescape is designed. :( You could try -- listening to music -- getting members that might make it a tiny bit better -- playing another free game Hope this helps

Lvling 60 mage with no hp xp!
That's because you didn't lower your magic attack stat first. Wearing full bronze armor while casting would have helped you fail your Curses. Hope this helps

Lvling 60 mage with no hp xp!
That will work. It's also very cost effective. That would work but it would be very expensive. Alching and Enchanting would also be possible but you need other supplies as well. Lotsa places will work for you. I suggest a completely safe place in a multicombat zone. You could try casting from the key room in the Varrock sewers across the water into the 4 zombie ladder room. You could also try the caged red monk under the Varrock palace stairs, Port Sarim jail, the caged Lesser Demon in the wizzy tower, river ducks, etc. Wear any full metal armor (Bronze will work) to get -65 magic attack (or worse) to always fail your Curses. Hope this helps

F2P Magic Training?
Well, that depends on what spell you have been using and how much money you want to spend. Generally speaking, the higher level spells give more exp per cast. So, the fastest training, in F2P, would be to cast higher level spells. However, that would get very expensive. For example, you need, at most, 111292 exp to reach magic 59 You could do that by casting about 2420 Earth Blasts. That would cost you about 800,000 gp For many players that's a lot of money. So, most F2P players choose a more cost effective approach. For example, you could reach your goal by casting, at most, 3838 failed Curses. That would cost you about 115000 if you bought all of the runes. It would cost you nothing but time, if you made all of those runes yourself. Most players have time but not money. Failed Curses gives more exp than all of the Strike (Mind) spells and costs about 1 gp per 1 magic exp earned. That's much better than Chaos and Death rune based spells. Hope this helps

F2P Magic Training?
No Wind Strike averages about 7.5 magic exp per cast. Enchant Diamond amulets always gives 67 magic exp per cast. I suggest that you look here...

how much to willow longbows hich alch for
If you "value" any object at the general store, then the Hi-alch price is 1.5 times the general store price (with 0 items of that kind in stock) Or, value at the wildy bandit store, it is the hi-alch price. Normally, just look here for that kind of info. Hope this helps

how long does it take for highscores to update?
It's as soon as you log out. They could be delayed if there were internet connection problems at the servers (worlds) at the many different worldwide locations. Hope this helps

wilderness
IIRC, the locations and wildy level () are: Hill giants: Lava maze (42), and east side (19) Moss giants: central wildy by chaos rune spawn (37) Greater Demons: NE ruins (47) Lesser demons: Lava maze (46), Nature spawn (42) Ice Giants: NW ice area (47) Hope this helps

Is there nowhere more to WC F2p?
Well, your best choice may be to check the 23 Yew trees in the F2P world. The 23 trees are located: 4 NW of Rimmington 3 south of Fally 1 NE of Port Sarim 4 between Draynor village and Lumbridge 1 in the Lumbridge graveyard 1 south of Varrock 3 near the Earth altar 1 next to NE Varrock church 3 behind Varrock palace 2 SW of Edgeville bank. I would try all the single tree locations. I presume that macroers would prefer multi-location spots. Keep in mind that any place good for you is gonna be good for a macroer. So you may have to world hop a bit to find a decent spot. Hope this helps

Is there nowhere more to WC F2p?
Hmmm, perhaps you meant the Lumbridge graveyard? IIRC, you can't reach that tree from the church, you have to enter the graveyard. There is a Yew next to the Varrock north-east church though. Hope this helps

A question about obtaining Cosmic, Law & Nature runes (f2p)
IIRC, Chaos runes spawn in the Dark Warrior fortress (level 16 or so in wildy) and in the central wildy (level 40 or so) guarded by Moss giants. Hope this helps

failed curses?
If you cast in a multi-combat zone with lots of targets, then you can sort of "stack up" your casts. In other words, the animation for the first cast can still be going on as you start the second cast, and then so on for the third. I like doing the 4 zombies in the Varrock sewer ladder room that way. It does take a little bit of practice though, to know when you can start the next cast. Btw, Hi-alching is the same way. Hope this helps

F2P alching
Mostly, whatever you can make yourself that costs more than the Nature rune. Steel plate is probably the most popular that is done in large amounts. If you just want the best price then, IIRC, the general store in the wildy bandit camp buys at the hi-alch price. 'Course, that is in the wildnerness... Hope that helps

A question about obtaining Cosmic, Law & Nature runes (f2p)
Have you tried tele-grabbing the Nature rune spawns? IIRC, there are 2 piles of them on the little island, with 3 in 1 pile and 4 in another. So it would cost you 2 law runes to get 7 Natures runes. The danger is that multi-combat PKers could be nearby and the island is guarded by Lesser demons so you would have to time your teles very carefully. The "higher" level runes tend to drop from "higher" level F2P monsters. So try Ice giants, Ice warriors, Moss giants, and Ankou for them. Hope this helps

What's the best place to train mage on f2p?
It's popular because it's a multi-combat zone with a safe spot. That means that you almost always have a target to hit. That, in turn, means fast, safe training...

What's the best place to train mage on f2p?
Seems to me that what you really need is 1) A safe spot 2) Multi combat or a lot of targets There are lots of places with safe spots: the crafting peninsula hobgoblins, the caged lesser in the wizzy tower, Port Sarim jail, white knights in the screen/torture room, caged red monk under Varrock palace stairs, river ducks, key room in the Varrock sewers, etc. Multi-combat places include: Caged lesser in wizzy tower, white knights, sewer key room, etc. My favorite way to level F2P magic was to do failed Curses from the key room in the Varrock sewers. You cast across the water at the 4 zombies in the ladder room. It's a multi-combat area so you will almost always have a target to hit. Also, it's perfectly safe in the key room. Of course, you could also do Crumble Undead, or any of the Strike (Mind) spells there as well. Keep in mind that Fire strike (18), Earth strike, etc all give less exp than failed Curse (29) so it will take many more strike spells to level up. Hope this helps

Combat, alternative to experiments / rock crabs?
You could try the Stronghold of Security. There are a lot of monsters on the 4 levels and in "small" rooms, so you have many places to fight of different levels. Drops aren't anything special though. Hope this helps

curse spells
Yes Wear full metal armor, green vambraces, and a staff. I always liked casting from the key room in the Varrock sewers into the 4 zombie ladder room. Well, if you averaged 1 Curse every 2 seconds, then that would be about 122400 spells for about 3.55 million exp. But you would have to be extremely focused to be able to keep at it for that long... Hope this helps
