To get your computer specs go to control panel and click on performance and maintenance and take a screenshot of that screen where you see your processor type and your amount of RAM

Computer and internet upgrade help needed.
Well the number one thing I would do is to scan for viruses and spyware, that sort of thing. Download Ad aware se personal, spybot search and destroy, and avast! antivirus and scan your computer with all of them. The links to them can be found in the sticky on the top of this forum. Obviously delete anything they come up with. As far as hardware upgrades, your computer should run runescape and internet related things just fine. The same with your internet. That download speed is PLENTY fast. If all else fails, you can try wiping your hard drive, but if I were you I would go for the antiviruses first.

Legality of moving OS from one PC to another
Getting the CD shouldn't be too difficult. I don't know about Gateway, but when I needed a windows Xp disk from dell, I just called them and they sent it to me free of charge.

Slow loading (Not normal speed)
Well that's definitely slower than what your supposed to be getting. Try resetting your modem and your router. Unplug them and wait a couple of minutes then plug them back in, don't use the reset switch (if they have one). Edit: reminds me I unplug them every night. you unplug your router every night? why? Just like what blade said, your internet connection is running around 10x slower then it should be. Call your cable company and ask them about it, as it's most likley their problem.

What is your favorite gun?
When I play First to Fight, one of the more realistic army games, I prefer the M16 over the Ak-47. The only reason I'd use the Ak over the m16 would be in close quarters, as it has an auto fire option. However, the M16 is more accurate, has less recoil, and can be used from a decent distance. The AK-47 is not famous because of its accuracy, but because of the fact that it is cheap and because it is EXTREMELY reliable. There has been stories of people pulling 30 year old mud caked AK's out of the ground, and them still being able to fire.

Slow loading (Not normal speed)
First of all, try hooking another computer on to the line and testing it's speed. That will help you determine if it's the computer or the cable. In addition, go to speedtest.net and take the speed test there, and post the screenshot here.

an appeal to all usa tipiters
The most important thing to remember is that the US is MUCH bigger then most countries. Driving from one end to the other takes around 5 days to a week depending on how much you stop, so unless you plan on flying all over the place, pick one area of the country (at most 1/4) and find things to do there. That being said, there is TONS of stuff to do wherever you go. Theres already been many great suggestions in this topic, but one place I would recommend is Washington DC. Between the Smithsonian (the largest museum in the world) and all the monuments there, you really cannot go wrong. That, along wit NYC will easily keep you busy through three months.

What is your favorite gun?
Well I have only ever shot two guns- an AK-47 and an M-16, both owned by a friend of my dad. The M-16 was much more accurate and had less recoil, but the AK is an EXTREMELY resilient weapon. For actual shooting, between those two I would go with the M-16, but I do have a demilled AK-47 hanging on my wall, so it's a toss up. Ive always wanted to try something that shoots a .50 BMG though. Kill me some TANKS!

Was that a desktop? the power supply for a laptop is external. Its sometimes referred to as the "brick".

How do you, and what is the safest way, to open a laptop? Just start taking out screws. As long as you touch a piece of metal to discharge your static electricity and take the battery out. You should be fine. Some laptops have removable keyboards, which allow you to get at interior parts, while others have bays that open from the bottom. Just start removing screws, and eventually it will open up.

Those temperatures are not particularly high, so I would guess it is not probably overheating. Just to be sure, try this though: open up speedfan, and next to it open up a website that usually shuts your computer down. Use the website until the computer shuts down, monitoring the temperature. Much more heat is produced by a computer when it is under load.

Your dream job...
Well I would like to go and bet a good job as an executive in a large company, and eventually when I had a good amount of money banked, go into Politics. Being a senator or house Rep seems like it would be both an extremely interesting, and an extremely boring job. Lots of variety.

Where did you hear that they had sold 34% of the company? I thought Jagex was still owned by the Gowers.

Which computer is better? UPDATED
I understand that XP will not be supported by microsoft soon, but I do know that there will be multiple computer service companies that will still offer support because they know that it will be a good money generator due to the wide support of XP. I understand what you're trying to get at with the win98 analogy, but I don't agree with it. Maybe-if microsoft has updated vista by the time I'm ready to get a laptop, I might buy a computer with vista. However, I have heard way too much negative feedback about vista. Sure other companies might support it for longer then microsoft, but I am talking about Critical bug fixes security holes in the software, things that you NEED to keep your computer from being mutilated by viruses, things that a virus scanner cannot protect you against. If I remember right, the support period on windows XP ends in april 2009 - less then two years from now. Really, vista is quite a bit better then XP in pretty much every way, aside from the higher hardware requirements, which themselves can be turned down by reverting to an XP-like interface.

well your computer and your internet connection is fine. Runescape runs fine on old pentium 2 laptops with 64mb of RAM (Ive tried it) and so your computer is plenty fast enough to run runescape, as is your internet connection. The most likely thing is that your computer is getting bogged down by files and programs that have accumulated on your computer over time, from various downloads etc. The most dramatic performance jump would come from reformatting you hard drive and reinstalling everything, but if you would rather not do that (or are unable) I would recommend just going through your computer, uninstalling unneeded programs and deleting unneeded files to speed your computer. EDIT: Oh, and what is this?

Which computer is better? UPDATED
hehe you don't need a toughbook. Those are used by the military for field commanders and soldiers essentially, and they are EXTREMELY expensive for the hardware you get. Expect one of those to cost you upwards of 3k+. As far as the choice between the two computers you posted, I would definitely go for the dell. The 600$ one you posted is significantly faster then the acer. As far as xp vs vista, think of it this way - it would be like buying a computer with windows 98 instead of xp in 2002 and using that computer now. While xp is still supported well today, its on its way out and you WILL wish that you had gotten Vista later on in a year or two.

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
It wasn't what you said, it was how you said it. Especially with the "and gay people too", which was when I decided to respond. But as long as you know the yada-yada about extremism and moderation. Well, if us and them weren't [bleep] to each other's religion, we wouldn't be sitting here worrying about Iran tossing nukes around, would we? Yes, we would be! ;) Us saying Islam sucks and that Muhammed was a pedo has little to do with why they dislike us. They dislike us because they feel Israel is occupying their lands or whatever, and we are supporters of Israel. Never mind the fact, of course...That Muslims have attacked Israel many times and Israel has even taken some of their land after winning and been ordered by the UN to give it back. Never before has someone won a war, took the spoils of [wagon]-kickery and then been asked to give them back to the losers. In short, Muslims will always hate us because we will continue to support Israel, and they'll always hate Israel because they believe Israel is on their land or whatever. I'm not much a geography nor a history buff, but haven't the Jews been in that land since...Umm...The beginning of recorded history? When did the Muslims ever claim this land? :P To awnser your question, no the Jews have not been i that land continuously since the beginning of recorder history. They started there and occupied the space until around when the Roman Empire fell, at which point they were forced out by the muslims, who stayed in charge for quite awhile. They slowly moved back into the area in the years before world war two, at which point they were given their own counntry, Isreal, by the winners of the war in 1948.

Recovering lost files for free?
First off, STOP USING THE COMPUTER! when you delete a file, it is not really gone from your hard drive but rather has the header of the file telling the computer not to remove the file removed, if that makes sense. Using your computer could cause the overwriting of your data. Then try that file recovery software posted above.

Al Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize!
I thought this might be an interesting development in this subject: http://en.epochtimes.com/news/7-10-18/60918.html it seems that some of his claims were not quite so true? Ive always thought this. While global warming DOES happen, the movie greatly exaggerated the problems global warming could cause. Remember, Al Gore IS a politician.

I-Doser - Getting High, Without Drugs
I tried Ecstasy, and Ill just say it did EXACTLY what the definition said it would do. I only made it through about 15% of it though, before the ceiling of my room started spinning like a top and I got kinda scared and turned it off. Ill post back when I try another one.
