the Ipod touch is not really a hardcore music player compared to the ipod classic, its use is as more of a multimedia device. Essentially its an Iphone without the phone. I can tell you from personal experience that the Iphone is the best phone on the market (I own one) so the Ipod touch, because its essentially the same thing, must be very, very good too. Aside from the lower capacity, which I don't see as much of a problem anyway (how many people have 40,000 songs on their mp3 players? Heck, 1000?) It should easily be the best mp3 player out on the market.

Actually you can share internet connections over a wireless ad-hoc network with no need for a router. Buying a router is still an infinitely superior option, though. It is possible, but a standard usb receiver will not do that, and the only way of doing that is MUCH more trouble then it's worth.

The item you posted is basically just a receiver, allowing the computer it plugs into to pick up wireless signals. Your laptop has that built in already, so you don't need it and your desktop is connected to a wired connection so you don't need it for that either. What you need is a "transmitter", a wireless router. Those I listed above are good ones, however, newegg does not ship to the UK so you will need to go to a computer store or something to find one. They should be able to help you. Basically this is what your setup would end up looking like: usually setting the network up is as simple as plugging the router in, pressing the "on" button and clicking "connect" on your laptop.

if its not that, then the most likely cause is that the laser that reads the disk was knocked slightly out of alignment, so that it won't read the disk head on but rather at a slight angle, so that some information will not read correctly. It will probably need a repair.

By any chance does the PS2 make a faint clicking noise as the disk tries to load?

is there a time limit? no. If its just sitting on your lap or desk and you are not covering the fan, there should be no reason why it would over heat. ive used my laptop for ~10 hours at a time before and never had a problem.
