Sound issues with xbox 360 on computer speakers
i have no idea what he is talking about, but it should be easy. If the monitor is a DVI monitor, all you need is a cheap adapter like This , just make sure you get one of the newer 360's with HDMI outputs. If the monitor is a vga monitor, then you will need some other adapter.

Planning my new rig...
Oops :wall: . I'm use to just seeing the X2 on the AMD processors and not them actually saying "dual core" Anyway, Joe these prices are in Australian dollars and not American, you can not compare the two. from the website you listed: Here is the core 2 quad, which is much faster then the one you listed, at only 5 dollars more.

Planning my new rig...
I agree with nadril. If you look at any hardware review sites, all of them will say the intel core 2's stomp on all of AMD's offerings. Plus, with quad cores getting so cheap now, a q6600 is the best processor out there, both in price/performance and pure performance. an overclocked one is the fastest thing out there. If you need to read some comparison charts on the processors, go to Toms hardware

It just died....
its not the motherboard, My guess is the hard drive is dead, or some file got corrupted. If the motherboard or processor failed, the computer wouldn't turn on at all (POST)

Playing Halo 2 on my computer, ROMS, Emus, and .iso files
you need to download power iso, then just click "mount". essentially it tricks your computer into thinking it has an extra cd drive, so the virtual drive will run identically to a physical cd drive.

LCD Screen
pretty much. The cost is about the same, so many computer manufacturers let you pick between the two types for free when you buy a new computer.
-
LCD Screen
a reflective screen gives better, sharper colors, so movies and pictures and things tend to look better on them, but matte or low gloss screens work better in direct sunlight, because less light is reflected off the screen, which means less glare.

Programming question - gamming related
yep, you need an engine.

Help with overclocking and RAM.
I would leave the stick in. While your memory will run slower, the extra RAM will give you more benefits then faster, but less RAM.

Windows 95 games on XP?
for almost all games, running on windows xp will not be a problem at all. Just put the CD in and play, like any other game. If that does not work, try right clicking on the icon, selecting "properties" then "compatibility" then run in compatibility mode for windows 95.

Who's your candidate for the 08 presiential elections?
Fred Thompson. I like his voting record, I like his history and he reminds me of Ronald Regan, one of the best presidents the US ever had. Besides, hes played as the president 8 times now in movies, so you know he has more experience then other candidates.

Accents
as of right now, some alt codes do work in runescape, but not all. They changed it about a month or two back.
-
What's the funniest runescape name, you've seen?
I once saw a guy named plastic bag. Not as funny as some of yours, but still strange compared to the usual assortment of stupid names.

I Need more help. Graphics Card help plz.
the x1650 card should work. You will be somewhat limited to playing older games though because of your processor, however because it is at or below the minimum requirements of some games. Older games should run faster, however, but no crysis or bioshock.

Looking for colleges.
It depends on your wants, needs etc. Us news publishes a article every year about the best schools in the US for different things, so you should start there. Here is that page.

What do I need to upgrade?
Well ram should be installed in pairs to make it run in dual channel. Although if the choice is more ram or running in dual channel, more ram would be better. A 2GB ram kit is fairly cheap now a days, so thats well within your budget. For a graphics card you can get a 7900GS or x1950pro for dx9. If you want to be more future proof you could go with the 8600gts which is slower and may be out of your price range with the ram. Thanks. How do you mean, future proof? Why would I want it to be slower? Sorry, I don't know a lot about graphcis cards... EDIT: Just read about the 8600, do you mean it is future proof, insofar as it supports dx10? He refers to it being "future proof" because while the 7900GS can run current games In dx9 faster then an 8600gts can, the 8600gts natively supports dx10, so when new games come out that require dx10, a 8600 gts will run faster then a 7900GS will. However, before we can recommend a card, we will need to know if you have an AGP or PCI-E slot, so (This is assuming your running windows xp) open the command prompt and type "dxdiag" without the quotes. Copy that info here. As far as memory goes, I would also recommend and upgrade to a gig or two. While it is not absolutely essential that you upgrade ram in matched sticks, they run together, effectively doubling the speed of the RAM when used together, hence duel data rate. So if you do not upgrade in matched pairs, you effectively halve the speed of your memory I.E 400 mhz becomes 200 mhz etc.

New computer - comments?
most of those parts are good, but you would get more bang for your buck using an 8800 gtx and dropping the water cooling to pay for it, because the performance gains are minimal unless you are an EXPERT overclocker. As far as the power supply goes, with that setup 850 watts is a bit overkill. This power supply is 100 watts less, but plenty for your needs. Also, I would recommend a motherboard with a 680i chipset, as most big reviewers (Toms hardware) say that they overclock better then the intel based chipsets. This board doesent have quite as much bling as the board you listed, but does the job well. As far as a good alternative to water cooling, I would go for This cooler. Unless you have used water cooling before and know EXACTLY what your doing, it tends to be more frustration then its worth for the ~5% extra overclock you can squeeze out of the processor. otherwise your build looks good. Obviously all the parts I listed are from newegg.com, and because they do not ship to canada you will have to use the part numbers to track them down at Tiger direct.

The other side to Russia
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm pretty sure I'm not, but doesn;t North Korea actually have missiles capable of reaching Washington D.C.? There was a big scare about it a while back, but it got forgotten. You were wrong. North Korea's longest range missiles can only go about as far as japan, which is still a big threat, but people stopped paying much attention to them when the missile launch success rate was only like 10%.

Question
its area code (3 digits) then another 7 digits. Its the same as the US.
-
The other side to Russia
My point exactly. The difference is that Russia has a bit more.... checkered past then NATO countries, including not having much of a problem with attacking civilians. Couple that with the fact that Russia is not nearly as stable as the NATO countries, and you have reason to worry. Sure, North Korea and Iran are bigger problems ATM, but this does represent a possibly dangerous development.

My New Computer - Anyone wanna give some hints?
actually for current games, the two versions of the 8800 gts perform neck-in neck until you get into VERY high resolutions, which that monitor cannot display. here is some benchmarks: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_ ... &chart=275 look around this page, and try different programs. For the most part, the performance is very similar. his monitor's maximum resolution is 1680 x 1050

My New Computer - Anyone wanna give some hints?
The gts 320 mb would not be a bottleneck for your system as it is the same GPU, but with less memory then the 640mb version. As far as graphics cards go, the 8800 series from nvidia is the fastest out there. There is three cards: the 8800gts 320 and 640 mb, which have the same processing core but with more or less memory depending on the model, and the 8800 gtx, which has 768mb of memory, and is currently the fastest graphics card out. The 8800 ultra is essentially just an overclocked 8800gtx. The 8800 just means that these are Nvidia's high end cards, opposed to the 8600/8500 series which is mid range or the 8400/8300 series which is at the low end. If you live in the united states, as blade said, here are some links where you can buy those cards: 8800 gts (320 mb version) 8800 gts (640 mb version) 8800 gtx These ARE the kings of graphics right now. None of them are cheap, and they suck massive amounts of power and produce massive amounts of heat, but they are FAST. Trust me, I own a couple of them. Note that no graphics card, or even a modern processor is needed to play runescape, so if that is all you do on your computer, then you are wasting your money. In addition, if you decide to buy one of these cards, measure the inside of your computer case and check your computer power supply. The gtx's are almost a foot long and can consume up to 200 watts of power during games. As far as the windows experience rating, that is not created by people but is rather a benchmark built into windows that, based on your hardware, calculates your system speed and posts the "windows experience rating" which is the lowest score out of a group of different categories which are (if i remember correctly) CPU, Memory, hard drive and two graphics scores: windows graphics and 3d game graphics. So its likely that your graphics card is bottlenecking your system.

A good deal?
Generally only lower end cards share memory, because system memory is significantly slower then graphics memory. Otherwise, your post is correct. ATI and Nvidia have some strange naming schemes.....

Remembering 9/11 - LOCK PLEASE!!
I remember you mentioned you were fond of Weed in one particular post awhile back. Would you happen to be on it when you posted this? Anyway, on topic. I was in first grade, and because school didn't start until 9:00 AM, The attacks had already happened when I went to school. I remember the teacher acting really strange, and she wouldn't tell us anything about it, but I remember seeing it on the news.
