Wilderness and free trade vote! - Now Closed
bedman replied to Jimmyw3000's topic in General Discussion
Illegal? Probably not. Vote rigging, yes. Corrupt, wrong, immoral, choose whichever term you wish. Maybe Jagex already have the update ready to roll and just wanted to legitimise it? Thinking it wouldn't get enough votes, they made it not need a password knowing their player base would cheat to get high enough votes? How is it not blatantly obvious that Jagex has every intention of bringing free trade and the old wilderness back regardless of how the vote pans out? That's exactly what I said. They can use the vote to 'legitimize' it to those who don't want it as they know the community will cheat the vote higher than it would be with passwords needed. If not they are just plain crazy. exactly -
One thing to consider too is that pk'ing won't be an item drain anymore. Every claw that gets lost will actually be retrieved now by the other player. On the other hand, more pkers will mean more demand for claws and other pk items. Gonna be interesting
-
I would think they would just add free trade outside the GE, but keep the GE and the "adviced price". If you want to pay outside the GE price range, then just don't use the GE and pay whatever you want person to person.

Can't they just keep the grand exchange, but let person to person trading occur without limits? EDIT: wow, craven image! I never really got to know you, but your name certainly rings a bell from "back in the days". Welcome back :) -
I would do draconics + the occasional common ones you get. It's the best hunter xp in game, and draconics are herb only seed droppers. Hunt common ones till you get 77 hunter, and pot from there
-
I think if you put your chat on hide, or some other option, you will only see what the person who is trading you is saying.
-
I know that its not much faster at CT (maybe 10 more crimsons: 190 vs 180)
-
You can try barrows while verac'ing. Make sure you use superpots and piety on all brothers. Should make well over 1m/h (more towards 2m).
-
I would catch common jadinkos till you reach lvl 74. This should give you more than enough ugune seeds. Then catch Igneous for the marble vines;

When I was slaying, I got max hit splats all the time, even when it wasn't my max. Now I've been barrowing a bit, and only had a couple so far. Did they update it so it takes pots etc into account? Example: slaying waterfiends with chaotic maul, I got max hit splats for hits over 630 give or take (max I did was around 750). At barrows, I've hitted 704 and 702 and didn't get a max hit splash.

Hmm, will try. edit: Torag's plate and guth spear + helm (double drop) in a row! edit2: made 7m in less than 2 hours, not bad I guess :-) (torag's plate, guth spear, guth helm, torag's legs + runes/racks) I tried fire surge with chaotic staff, ovl, asn etc. and it was pretty damn fast, but I preferred to convenience of 100% melee. 4 min chests seems a bit exaggerated, you must be really lucky with chest locations for that edit3: I'm at around 60 chests now, with 11m in just barrows loot (add another 2-3m for runes/racks). This means I'm averaging around 2M an hour, not bad. I've been traying bandos + maul, bandos + rapier, bandos with mage/rapier and void with mage/rapier. Out of all those, I prefer the void + rapier set up. I seem to be more accurate than with the bandos set up, and it's less of a hassle than any of the magic set ups (don't you hate fire surging karil when you want to claw spec him, cause you forgot to put off autocast) + you spend less.

A little update to this awesome topic: While some major items have been going down since the death of this topic (claws, frost dragon bones), the average barrows item has risen from 1.4m to 1.89m! Using a 12 chest/h figure, and 50k profit per chest (not sure if this is still accurate), you you can get nearly 2.5M of income per hour (neglecting costs, which are pretty minimal when you do it my way). In any case, it should be well over 2M/h! [hide= been said before]With prayer pots so dirt cheap, I tried some barrowing with constant prayer (turmoil + deflect/soulsplit) and it's completely awesome. Soul split/deflect flash means you never need food. You don't need to bring hides for Ahrim either, cause you pray on him anyway. I also bring claws and spec restores to make quick work of Karil and Ahrim. I'm actually thinking that a DDS might be better, cause 2 claw specs are often overkill. Melee'ing with extremes/ovl, chaotics and turmoil all the time makes consistent sub 5 min chests possible, so 12 chest/h is entirely manageable. Last trip I did a 2 ovl trip (8 chest), but with some tweaking, I'm sure I can fit in an inventory for 12 chests. Like I mentioned before, it's also very straightforward to melee, which is a big advantage IMO. [/hide] Conclusion: Barrows still isn't dead! note: I don't use prayer for KC in tunnels. Still deciding wether it's worth it to pot up prayer for tunnel brothers, except for Ahrim/Dharok where I always do it. Also not sure which chaotic is best. Last trip I tried maul and it worked pretty well. EDIT: oeps, seems I used that always turmoil set up already before (+huge explanation). I guess this post is just a note about how barrows items have gone up.

I need to do more tests with scentless though. The other time I did another short 10 min run and was pretty unlucky (forgot the actual data, but I think I was only going at a rate of 170k an hour).

14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
bedman replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
I constantly get those orange hit splats, but they aren't my max hit at all, just whenever I hit somewhere close to my max hit (was already at 650 with maul, while my real max is over 740). -
Try to do magic logs with barbarian horn. You've done most hard skills, everything you've got left is 200+k xp per hour.
-
Why? They offer negative ranged offense bonus, and no ranged defence bonus
-
Started using scentless pots 20 min test (2 juju doses) 95 draconics 27 commons => 195k xp/h => scentless seems to really make a difference, allthough I will need more tests
-
sick! 61 only so far for me.
-
Just prayer flash Soul Split for a few hits and you are fine. I would use bandos in stead or proselyte. More def, and more strength.

All right, I'll be happy to post more data then. Did another 10 min at draconics the spot is the one in this vid: This time I somehow caught a lot of common ones: 32 draconic, 21 common => 26.5k in 10 min => 159k/h (again at 82 hunt) I think the average at my lvl will indeed be around 160k xp an hour. I'm personally gonna do these, and not igneous + carrion. Might try to get some scentless pots later on, see if it gets much better EDIT: another 40 min test: 155 draconic 62 common => comes down to 170k xp/h got 83 hunt halfway through Seeds gotten: 4 ugune 2 shengo 3 sammaden 1 erzile 1 argway 1 kalferberry 1 lergberry 1 apple tree 3 green bloss 2 blue 2 red Edit: 20 min test 92 draconic 14 common => 58.4k, or 174k xp/h 2 samaden 3 ugune (both all from draonics)
-
Nice update. I'm surprised your draconic xp rates are so low though. People with 90+ hunt claim they are 180k+ xp/h. I personally did a 10 min test, and came at 33k in that time (with zamorak hunter pots). However, I then did another 20 min test (was a bit less concentrated though) and only came at 102k xp/h. I also use hunter pots while hunting btw (every lvl helps). EDIT: So I did another test. It seems the catch rate is VERY variable. I did the test with 82 hunter Arctic Bear Hunter pots (repot when you hit base lvl)) Zamorak favour pots Southwestern draconic spot I did 3 consecutive 10 min runs (well, one juju hunter pot worth) During this half hour, I caught 130 draconic and 17 normal, or 81.62k xp (thats with Zam favour accounted). This equates to 163.2k xp/h. I noticed a lot of variance in amount of draconics per 10 min though. First 10 minutes 41, the second 10 minutes 34 and the last 10 minutes 55. (random fact: NO herb seeds at all during this test) In any case, it seems that you should get well over 130k xp an hour with them. Alex, how come you are getting more Igneous, while unknown is catching more carrion, when he's doing the igneous + carrion method? Also, when trying your method, I had trouble getting a Carrion Jad in the small square where you hunt. I was mostly just catching Igneous. Unknown, how come you are catching 260 common jadinkos per hour when doing common + draconic, while only catching 210 an hour when just doing common? Sounds weird to me.

Netto, bruto would be about 14-15000 And he is 15, his dad is 50. So he is 50 and he just finished university, weird. Unless you mean his dad did university 30 years ago, and now, after years of hard work, he has aqcuired himself a job that pays 12000 a month. (which is different from the "in the netherlands, you study university and there will be a cabbageload of jobs that pay over 10000 a month) Also weird how he pays so few taxes. Normally your netto is just over half of what you make bruto. EDIT: reread what you said, and you'll understand not gonna comment on it further cause it's way too much offtopic
-
You are about 22 years old when you finish university. Care to explain me how you can have a 15+ year old son by then? Also, one example doesn't mean there are a cabbageload of jobs... (and are you sure its 12000 euros netto, and not bruto?)
-
You said there were a cabageload of jobs that earn over 10 000 euros, which kind of implies it is easy to find one... I have yet to even think of a job that earns 10 000 euros right when you get of the university. The only one I could think of was a specialised doctor, who has to study 13 years before he can make the big money, but you just said that's only 7000. Art makes money? Only if you are the best of the best of the best. Most people who studied art are dirt poor and have trouble finding well paid projects. Maths/engineering etc? Makes pretty good money, if you get into a good componey, but NO WAY that you get payed over 4000 euro's a month at your start, let alone over 10 000, that's completely ridiculous. Anyway, what I just wanted to say is: stop posting false info about the Netherlands. There's already enough people coming here with false hopes created by other people.

Sometimes the way someone WANTS to spend their life isn't healthy. Not working and spending those 8/9/10 hours you'd work playing a game is not healthy, period. Being healthy is eating healthy, going to the gym and/or doing Multiple sports, have a girl/boyfriend, have a lot of social contacts etc. Sad but true is 95% of the top players do not have anything mentioned of the above. Might still be good for them to do what they want, does not mean it's healthy. I agreed with the first sentence, but stopped when you started to describe the stereotypic life as the standard. Healthy in my opinion is a good mix of everything, and having a balanced life. When you play 10h a day, this mostly isn't the case, but there can be exceptions. But by all means, please don't tell everyone to go to the gym, frantically find a girlfriend, doing *multiple* sports, having *lots* of social contacts. Damn, you are giving everyone a lot of pressure... Sad but true is 95% of the world doesn't have this healthy life you described. ? well, OVER 50% of the almost 7 billion people on Earth Do have a relationship, friends, do sports tbh.. Over 50% of people are in a relationship? BRB KIDS GOING TO MEET MY OTHER FAMILY@@#!12 *hic* (You realise if over 50% of the population of people are in a relationship, some people MUST have more than one partner.) You are wrong charliebrown: Both my parents are counted in this percentage, yet it's one relationship. 3.5B people are in a relationship, 3.5B aren't. This means there are rougly 1.75B relationships, each consisting of 2 partners. Teamed, I meant that 95% doesn't meet ALL the reqs you listed. Also, claiming it's easy to earn 10000 euros a month in the Netherlands after you've finished UNI just makes you seem stupid, so please don't make any claims on stuff you don't know [cabbage] about. I'm studying in Belgium right now, doing one of the studies that gives access to the best jobs, and I'll be happy if I make over 2000 euro's a month, at the start. CERTAINLY NOT 10000 EURO, that's insane for someone coming right off the university (even when he's a civil engineer or whatever).
