  1. why would you put symbols there? There shouldn't be ASCII in names, it's contradictory. Good choice by Jagex IMO, Names have never allowed that I don't see why suddenly without announcement they should. I understand foreign names have these symbols but it seems like something that will just be used for decoration (again, not what names are for...).
  2. Stick with rock crabs (or slayer) and move on to armoured zombies when you get all your melee stats in the 70's (run a search for "armoured zombies" in the general guides forum for a large list of guides on them). If you get bored of crabs, you can kill experiments near Canafis. I'd stick with the crabs though, they at least have some drops.
  3. What's the deal with this? You could always refill cannons as they were firing. I finally got around trying out my cannon in game and couldn't notice anything (besides auto-setup which is half useful). Update to RC was overdue, there's little real arguement against it. Almost every skill you get at least a tiny bit better every level up but with RC you could get 40+ levels and have little to no improvements for certain runes. Even firemaking gets better each level.
  4. So two wrongs make a right now? :wink: For my sake I hope three do (;
  5. I sold my Karil/Ahrim sets since I never use them and they went up alot, so don't have those. Anyway, I still have all the barrows melee sets, here you go: http://img69.imageshack.us/i/dharoks.png/ http://img694.imageshack.us/i/guthans.png/ http://img22.imageshack.us/i/torags.png/ http://img4.imageshack.us/i/veracs.png/ All on HD on highest graphics settings (AA*4)
  6. Chop maples with a rabbit foot while having MTK on maples. Maples are far from the best MTK profit, so check your MTK every day so you can change it to a more profitable resource (Herbs/raw fish). Also, you shouldn't bother with a zammy bird in GWD, use a treasure trail zamorak robe or cloak. A good combination (I can't remember if zammy top or bottom loses less prayer bonus) you only lose out on 1 or 2 prayer bonus BUT you get a combat familiar, definetly worth it. Robes are probably around 500k, I bought mine a long time ago and never looked back so I'm not sure on price. A ranged familiar is best in GWD, if you don't have a good ranged familiar, at least try to bring one that only takes up one square. Before getting a geyser I used to bring fire/moss titans. They are a bit big and get stuck pretty frequently, but they provide healing with their scrolls which I found to be great because it let me practice my prayer flashing without worrying about getting hit. If anyone decides on trying this, just remember to bring tele tabs, not runes, because the titan doesn't restore back your drained magic level  Now that I think about it, I think TT god cloaks have only 1 less prayer bonus. Go with a zammy robe if you have a fire cape though.
  7. I really started to notice a difference when I started to use the 3 elemental titans and now with a geyser there's a large jump. It varies depending on who you ask, some people start to see a difference earlier and some later. The earliest I've heard people talking about is the obsidan golem and karamthulu (73 & 58 summoning, respectively). Of course, the phoenix came out when I was already a much higher summon level than is required, so for all I know the phoenix might be quite strong for it's level (wouldn't be surprised, either).
  8. Which is why steel bars are better. You bank more with mith, therefore cutting down on exp/hr. Speaking of which, iron bars are faster exp but you lose much more cash. mith smelt xp = 30xp steel smelt xp = 17.5xp Since we're talking about superheating, banking time is almost negligible. The little time you do spend banking by no means what so ever is going to counteract the almost halved exp of steel. Worth noting is that iron = 12.5xp, just a little less than steel. So if you're really dedicated to making steel (which you shouldn't be, go with mith), do some number crunching and find out if steel or iron loses more or less money, and base it on that. If buying mith ore is an issue, leave an offer in GE at max for ore and make steel/iron untill you get a decent amount of mith ore. Or you could go mine in the mining guild and smelt mith ore there while waiting.
  9. I found the game ALOT more boring once you max out melees, I'd recommend achieving it slowly over time, but I don't think you will. If you want the fastest speed possible (it really isn't all that big of a difference no matter how you do it, looking at your stats) it would be something like getting attack to 90 first, then 99 strength, then 99 attack, then defence. However you may find it convenient to get 90 defence before you start grinding for a 99, it will save you a nice wad of cash and trouble in the long run and is overall the most useful skill of all 3. Just not for getting high xp/hr.
  10. Yes, I glady consider those that quit over the update whiny. If they were "oldschool" (that is to say, if you could even classify someone oldschool over a game) they wouldn't quit over something like this. Neither have I ever seen any evidence that Jagex made more profit from credit card issues, neither person can prove anything here. If you think this game has almost become a single player MMO, perhaps YOU are too lonely. Or blind. You miss shouting for half an hour for every silly item you needed in fally centre world 2? I see we have strong differences in what we think makes a good game. We can still lend to our friends, and give them up to 60k/hr. It's not the same, but I rather that and not have to put up with autoers. I don't miss any faded clans and their attitudes, either. A story for another time. If we were still playing the same old RS with the same old skills and same old everything, it would be a very dull place. Some may laugh at the thought, but we would have a pretty sucky game if RS2 was never released. Large (and even controversial) updates keep something happening, change gameplay and make playing the game much more interesting. I'm not fan of PC and never was (I still remember when people would instantly hate any PCer in the way we hate 76kers today), but when I think back I would have been alot more bored if the issue never came up.
  11. Hi Mr Jagex lover. Firstly, this quote ( particularly the bolded bit ).. They make MANY decisions based around money. - They made the game easier to allow for more people to play, more money. - They changed pking / trade / dueling to stop RWT to protect their money ( although this point to me has become acceptable, credit card issues were a problem ) - They made a stupid promise about an update a week as a ploy to get more users to join. Although many of the updates are quite rubbish and unneccessary. And I believe this fact counters your claim of Jagex producing every update for a reason Now initially in Runescape, Paul would log on and talk to users about the updates or give some insight into whats to come. This was good as most of the players got a say, and it seemed Jagex were all about the community. After they established a solid foundation, they really did work on ways to get more and more players to play, and in some instances this resulted in poooooooor updates. Some of this money should go into the customer support sytem, but I assure you it doesn't. There are countless examples of these instances on these forums, and you hear many stories about automated responses. They KEY arguement for Jagex lovers against this case is, they simply do not have the time to deal with so many queries. This is rubbish, they simply haven't put the money into this system. If you played any other MMO you'd know the customer support system absolutly slaughteres Jagex's, I know from experience WoW gets back to you within 3 hours with a REAL person, and even in peak times ( a glitch in the server, w/e ) they get back to you one way or another, or scedule another time to discuss it. Jagex made a quality game, however the way they work isn't always justified as you claim. It is influenced by money, and it's quite clear most of the developers, DO NOT play the game. Hi Jagex hater. Believe it or not, they're a company, it all comes down to money (yes, even Blizzard are all about making money, despite what they'd tell you). That said, they still improve the game as to what they believe to be best, because making the game better makes them money. No idea where you got this from. They took out PKing, some whiney PKers quit and alot of RWTers quit (especially those that were paying for members so that they could earn and sell money faster). There was no profit from this, but it did improve gameplay. This was a daring and bold move (one money MMORPGs wouldn't dare take on, you must admit) and it has paid off. In the long term it will earn Jagex a larger player base, more members and more money. It also improved overall gameplay, so what's there to complain about? Darn that Jagex, they want money! Unfortunately I can't go very deep into discussion here in regards to the author, since I live in Australia and American history isn't taught in schools. I've heard the name of a ship Columbia, but that was just from an American TV show (Family Guy had a reference I think, lol).
  12. Perhaps RuneScape isn't better than those games on Xbox and PS3, though I'm wondering why Blizzard didn't win the award, since both are on comparable terms. Having Jagex win the award gives me the satisfaction that I'm paying less for a better game. Thing is, everytime you go to play RS you read the homepage for updates, so everyone could easily see Jagex asking for votes. I'm not very experienced with WoW, but I think there is no such system in there. If anything, they would do an announcement in game or something, but that would mean players would have to alt-tab, and most people are far too lazy to alt-tab in the middle of their game.
  13. The problem is getting the KO. Any main account can easily outlast a pure, but it just comes down to who gets those lucky final hits. That said, at your combat level you will mostly be fighting people similar to yourself, or possibly some berserker pures and such. You should do fine, but since you already have 63 prayer you may aswell try for 70. Piety = Big & accurate hits + enourmous defence bonus. I'd recommend using whip+rune if you want a good value combo. But using cheap barrows pieces is a huge help (people might not want to fight you if you have barrows though).
  14. You haven't mentioned much but assuming you do have a whip, defender, salve(e) and will be using piety, 100k xp/hr is perfectly realistic for your stats, if not a little bit more (also depends on how much attention you pay. AFKing slows you down because it takes awhile for you to realise they are no longer aggresive). Also realise the difference between 14 and 21 hours is pretty damn big and depending on how long you choose it could be anywhere between 1.4m - 2.1m exp.
  15. PC and SW are awful xp/hr. You didn't mention any other stats, but since you suggested bandits I'll assume you have a decent defence level, in which case armoured zombies are still best (even with no prayer. Remember you can use a salve).
  16. ? The only one which you really unlock is Warped terrorbirds (the rest are pretty easy without I'm overlooking some). Goraks get unlocked aswell (since I'm pretty sure goraks came about in slayer tasks before GWD, where they added some more Goraks). But since goraks are a great xp/hr (also semi-afkable with a high defence level) task, it doesn't matter. I'm sure I saw a slayer guide that listed a bunch of quests that you should and shouldn't do for the people who are really serious about slayer. With the ability of canceling tasks now, I wouldn't consider it such a big deal anymore if you do unlock warped t-birds (infact, I recommend it. Quests are fun  )
  17. It's been like this since the dawn of RS, it's a unique quality to RS that I've always liked, I'm not sure why. If it worked on GE prices or if you could select items to keep, it just wouldn't be the same. Runescape shouldn't be about carrying around 3 ridiculously expensive items with the rest welfare gear. The way the item loss system works now is a pretty effective counter to that.
  18. Agreed with this, except I find warped t-birds to be slightly less common (thank god).
  19. For 10th task, always duradel. Even if summona had better range tasks, the difference in points on 10th/50th tasks makes duradel worth it. Most, if not all, duradel tasks are rangeable anyway.
  20. Scan for Viruses Scan for spyware/adware Defrag your disk Uninstall unused programs It would probably be wise to defrag after uninstalling unused applications, but do these things. Cleaning Cache can also be an enourmous help. If your computer can run RS, ads shouldn't be causing you alot of grief in terms of lag. Also, are you playing in HD now? Chances are you played in SD before your breaks, so try SD.
  21. Rune defender is significantly better than a BSS (or even DFS for non dragon tasks) for slayer. So you're really pulling yourself down if you sell a fury to replace a defender. Both these items are the absoloute best you can get for general slayer (Even an enchanted salve doesn't beat the combo of fury when used with a slayer helm). Anyway, get what Theoknight said but buy Karils for certain tasks (such as bloodvelds/abberant spectres) when you can. Last I checked the prices on Karil have gone up like crazy, so you might want to wait the price spike out and use black d'hides in the mean time. There are multiple fantastic slayer guides on TIF, both in the Archive of Wisdom and in General guides. I'd strongly recommend checking them out, I still read them and I have 90+ slayer
  22. The way I've seen it (and this is just my opinion) is that summona gives tasks that generally won't give you much in drops, but are generally cannon-able, while duradel gives tasks good for mid-high meleers and charm hunters. Summona would probably be marginally faster, but remember that most duradel tasks are cannonable as well, if you know your monster spots.
  23. Sounds expensive  I'll look into it though. Thanks for the tip Leo, that's a smart trick. Suppose I'll have to go to the tower and life and fill my bank with satchels. Thanks aswell troaccid, there's some varying advice on low levels with ZMI. I also wonder if an ardy cloak helps alot for profit there, I might test it when I get bored.
  24. Remember you can change your characters appearance in a player owned house bedroom as well, for free (The only thing you can't change is skin colour and gender inside a house, I think).
  25. Hi, I have 67 (almost) runecraft and and am looking to get 75 for the ardy elite diary. Exp is obviously more important than profit for me, but I'd like to avoid sacrificing huge profit for a small exp increase. I'm currently running deaths in the abyss (using a geyser to recharge glories) with an abyssal lurker. Considering it takes 5-10 seconds to recharge all 28 of my glories would using grahhk be ALOT faster? If I were to continue abyss RC'ing, should I continue using an abyssal lurker to hold essence? I haven't ever run out of energy, so T-Bird isn't worth it but I'm not sure If I'm overlooking a more useful summon. If I start using ZMI will I make a decent profit/hr using an ardy cloak 3 (lvl 67 RC)? How do I go about banking when training ZMI (incase it matters, I don't need any prayer or armour there with 99def/hp)? Some people say use the bank at ZMI, but that involves paying the bank fee 2 or more times with pouches. Lastly, when banking for ZMI should I use deposit all and withdraw back my pouches, deposit each rune manually, or not bank the runes I make at all? Strongly appreciated if any experienced RC'ers out there could answer any of these questions ;) Thanks!
