  1. Beat me to it >.< Maybe it's a jagex only skill... banning? :P There's a chance the letter was just made up, it'd have been funniest if he'd said sa... That would have been hilarious (until you realise it might not be a lie)  I hope it isn't bardring or bartering, I don't see any potential in it whatsoever (maybe good for a minigame, if even that). I doubt they'd add another combat skill so early after summoning. They have talked about rebalancing the combat triangle, but I doubt this is the best they could come up with. In any case, the name blocking itself is far too specific to constitute an entire skill, it would merely be an addition to defence if it were to come out. It's a tough hint, everything I can think of is building and boating, but neither are happening
  2. Actually, purple dots are people in the same clan chat as you. The same wilderness capes are blue dots. Red dots = dropped items. Hah, shows hows long I haven't properly played RS :P At least I got one thing right... sorta.
  3. I'd say no to doing them with your stats. Once you reach all 90+ stats they become reasonable exp/gp but before that you would only need to kill them for charms. Since they're a frequent task (I get them alot, anyway) I'd perm block them. It's much better to perm block frequent tasks that you dislike than to perm block rarer tasks you hate (Wyverns, perhaps). Nice job on your slayer and summon level considering your attack/defence stats by the way
  4. I love your idea "1.", sounds like it has weight behind it (obviously not a full solution though). In regards to this idea: 4. Players you can attack, and are carrying 76k appear as a purple dot on your radar screen (let's you find 76k'rs easier) I believe purple dots are already taken (I haven't played much lately so I'm not sure if it's either people in your clan chat or wearing the same wilderness cape as you). A red dot might work, to match the red skull in your 3rd idea. I'm not a big PK'er, but I'd definetly go for 76k'er hunting if some of these ideas come about :P
  5. Not to take anything away from Jagex, but Lionhead deserved 1st, all their games are one of a kind and feature great story lines with extremely fun gameplay. Not just talking about Fable here but Black & White 2 and others. Anyway, grats to Jagex, although the nature of RS as a browser based game adds significant bias to this result.
  6. Wow, I sorta hate Jagex now. All that build up about mechscape, even a Q&A about it and they just throw it away like a candy wrapper. Hopefully this new game will make up for this, but talk about anti-climactic...
  7. I never had any interest in PKing and I played the game for several years. Me too. Topic starter totally exaggerated the importance of PvP, most of the RS community doesn't give a damn about it. Perhaps it was so in the days of RSC, but many things have changed. It's just a few loud players that would have you believe otherwise. Couldn't much be bothered reading the rest after reading about how incredibly important PvP is for RS. Several times.
  8. It's already out. http://services.runescape.com/m=adventurers-log/ Had a good laugh at the people claiming that they are absolutely 100% sure it's fake  I have 152 days and 17 hours (amazing how long 100+ days of straight play are when you think about it). I'd like to see how many days (or years? ) the top 10 players have. Problem is that it would be hard to tell if they faked it because the time would be so damn high either way.
  9. What makes this post disturbing is that it implies that you actually found Jagex humour funny at a point in time.
  10. Bunyips provide some of the best hp/gp ratios available in game. Other than that, cakes are good if you can be bothered with the eating. Kebabs are incredibly cheap but inconsistent and pretty annoying to buy (not sure how many GE will give you). If you want something a little more practical while saving money, tuna are a great choice (currently under 100gp). If you don't want to pinch pennies so much, monkfish are still an excellent choice for almost everything.
  11. That's some nice maths there. I don't have any statistics myself yet, but was interested to see the relation between weight and run time. I can't find if you got the formula but my studies involve this very same type of data analysis, so I decided to count it  Anyway, this is all based on your 5 data samples (3 is a bare minimum, so 5 is actually more than enough). Time ran - Independant variable (X) Weight - Dependant variable (Y). As you said, these do not share a linear relationship. Possible transformations are log(x), log(y), 1/x and 1/y. The only transformation that really works for this data is log(y) =x, the rest leave too big of a pattern. With a correlation coefficient of ~0.95597 (meaning it's roughly 96% accurate based on the actual data), the formula is "log(weight) = 4.1459 - (0.0634 * time running)". Since most people would use this formula to find time running, I think it might be more handy to put it this way "time running = (log(weight) - 4.1459) / -0.0634". Using this formula for values above 280 or below 1 is extrapolation and accuracy can't be guaranteed (infact, it simply doesn't work with a value of 0 or lower. ). This probably won't help you since you've already covered the maths, but I just find it interesting to see the formulas that jagex devises. Maybe someone else will have a use for the formula some day :-D
  12. It would be nice if you could do it, but I'm sorry to say I really am too busy right now to help. It's exam time in mere weeks and I can afford maybe 30 minutes of game time a day (in 7 days time I won't even be turning the PC on for non-studying reasons). I don't know how any of this is done so I've uploaded the source for the timer (feel free to play around with it as you please) http://rapidshare.com/files/297185944/WindowsApplication1.zip.html (If any other users come across this link, use the one in the first post of this topic. You would struggle to get this one to work if you don't know what you're doing). It's all up to you though, you don't have to if you don't want to ;)
  13. Yes it does, and Jagex have played with fonts in the past already. Looks interesting (TELL ME TIME PLAYED \:D/ )
  14. Sounds like MA and PC combined... I don't like it though, there are already plenty of awesome tower defence games out there, I don't see why I would want a RuneScape one aswell. (also might be a good idea to say TD=Tower defence since this isn't a WoW/tower defence forum)
  15. I'm not very experienced with these tournaments since I'm not a risk-PvP fan, but isn't it true that people can/do hide until most people kill each other in the same free for all MA used to be? Neither would I be very happy to be teamed up on. I'm sure muggi and others can do fine with their ancients and zomgwtf combos but unless there aren't countermeasures for what I just mentioned, duel tournaments seem pretty unattractive to me.
  16. I think it looks nice. Reminds me of the soul wars capes which I also like the looks of. Also, when doing the crossbow task in the elite diary, you get a list up of things to do after you do one of the steps in making the crossbow. You would think the Ardougne cape would at least share the same colors as the Ardougne banners (like those at the north gate). That emblem would have looked great on the back of a cape. Instead, we got an unimaginative grey & black rag that looks like it needs to be washed on the rocks at Taverly. Remember Jagex has to think of a look that won't look completely stupid when you wear all achievement pieces (and get the full achievement diary reward). It doesn't graphically fit very well right now, but for all we know Jagex could do a graphical re-work. It also makes sense that the pieces don't fit perfectly, as they're from all over the RuneScape world, so you might say they all represent the diversity of the RS world. That said, it probably wouldn't work if they just threw each respective town's emblem on there for each piece and it would be a tad biased (for a lack of better word) to put only one town's logo on the entire set. Jagex doesn't seem to want to make a big "main" town of RuneScape.
  17. In regards to spirit mages and dark beasts: Never block spirit mages, ever. Good exp, good cash, multi combat(combat familiars work) and a fun task. What more could you want? Dark beasts are mis-understood. Spend some money on prayer pots and you thats a LOT of afk'able slayer exp. With good equips, high attack and a black/slayer helmet their defence isn't even all THAT high for a whip+defender to hit through. The only reason I would consider a GS here is because of the enourmous prayer bonus. On a task, a whip has enough accuracy (you could even pray 5% or 10% accuracy along with pro melee) Who doesn't enjoy the rare dark bow drop, either? When you get 90 slayer, it may take a long time before you find your perfect inventory (if you need any food, pray pot:sup set ratio, etc.), I think people are put off by this. I agree with everything SirHartlar said, except wyverns (I hate them aswell, despite charms/drops) and warped birds (pain in the rear for lazy people like me  ) Out of your list I would advise blocking/skipping hellhounds, the charms suck and they're crowded. Personally, I believe you should do black dragons properly or not at all. Kill adults/KBD's or skip them. Babies provide bad exp and bad drops but I suppose if you're interested in slayer points you should continue killing babies. Lastly, do those mith dragon tasks! They're practicly giving you slayer points and piety+slayer helmet takes them down so fast that you'll never get bored watching your kill speed compared to those campers using rune-xbow. Of course, everyone slays a little differently. Do it the way you enjoy it.
  18. I know about broad bolts, but is there anything else I can buy in a shop daily and sell in GE for a decent profit? I'd prefer not to have to do things like raw meat in canafis because the profit is pretty low the last time I checked, not to mention you have to run all over the place to bank. I don't need help with achievement diaries/catherby pineapples/MTK daily things, just wondering if any new things are worth doing now with limited shop stocks (and increasing GE prices). Thanks
  19. It doesn't matter what you have it set on as it's gathering; just what it's set on when you collect, so there's no reason to worry about being "safe" with it until you go to collect. Just thought I'd let you know. Oh damnit I always forget that. Thanks for the reminder :P
  20. I'm not too sure about this - MTK is a very long term sort of thing and there is a fairly high chance the spike in herb prices is only short term. For now I think I'll put 100% fish 50% herb, just to be safe
  21. Not really sure on this one. You could try re-download the application or maybe try manually installing the .net framework (Here). Sorry that I'm not the best of help, I'm not very experienced in troubleshooting these sorts of things. if you can't resolve the problem there is another farming timer on this board made by someone else (it's on the front page at the time of me posting).
  22. Shamefully enough, this was my first quest I did without using a guide at all. It was actually really fun. Reward was decent (I'd say it was a bad reward but it gave me an agility level  ), I'd definetly do it again. Once you understood the concept of the tree puzzle (that is, the only real puzzle), it was a bit too easy. You could do it just by click all the trees everywhere until you see the light going in the right direction. Other than that, this quest has made me thirsty for more elf quests. I'd definetly consider this a prelude quest for something very big.
  23. really they said they wouldn't? I seem to have miss this quote, could you find the source of it? It was quite a long time ago, but I definetly remember it. Can't remember where exactly I read it.
  24. Give it a break. How don't you know it's not a hint at carousels? Or perhaps it's a hint that they're (take a deep breath now) not releasing either. :-o Jagex have said they aren't making mounts and/or horses anyway.
  25. I have a feeling animal masks might go up, since they looks pretty cool in the booth, but who knows. If only the eyes glowed like that normally.
