  1. If you can be bothered, you could use evil stew for anything up to a +6 boost that stacks with other boosts. You just need a bit of patience, getting the +6 boost is much less likely than any other, but getting either the +5 or +6 boost has a decent chance. Then again the time might be better used training your agility, since you could spend a few more hours (you can spend several frustrating hours making/using evil stews if you're unlucky with the boosts and with the GE) and earn the agility levels forever.
  2. No. Combat exp/hr with slayer is already bad the slayer helm just helps stopping grinding at armoured zombies for endless hours (not to say slayer helm gives faster exp than that, but it gives a big boost none-the-less). Slayer helm + GS at KQ has been known for ages. It's decent but not amazingly faster than Veracs. Hunting KQ isn't unrelated to slayer either since you can get the task finished that way, killing workers between spawns for the bulk of the kills. It's not exp efficient, but similar to KBD with slayer helm - it's just a fun way with potential profit to do your tasks. Only problem with slayer helm is it's lack of boosts for range/mage which almost completely eliminates two out of three combat styles for high end slayer training. So if anything you could say it's underpowered, in terms of mages and rangers.
  3. I haven't had time to actually try out the new tasks, but I saw it was in the whirlpool so it's worth noting that you can use games necklaces to get there pretty fast aswell (might be useful to those who haven't completed fairy tales p2/bought slayer rings/have ferocious rings). I don't know much more though :P
  4. Range is your best bet (skip/block/burthope if possible though, it won't be a fast task), mage is hardly (if at all) faster and costs you a hundred times more. Diamond bolts would be best but they're expensive/overkill so just go with what you have (DON'T take slayer helm - bonuses are for melee ONLY! Just bring anything with range attack on it. Even a snake skin helm will do). Also, don't worry about getting killed. I don't know if you're aware of this but bringing a normal anti-fire potion + anti-fire shield gives you complete immunity to damage from firebreath. Neither will steel or iron dragons walk to you to make a melee attack, so take a sip of that anti-fire potion and you have yourself ~5mins (not sure on exact time per dose) of invincibility - no prayer required. Theoreticly, a level 3 could kill a steel dragon since you can wear an anti-fire shield and drink anti-fire pots right out of tutorial island (or whatever tutorial system Jagex has now). They'd just have to have a LOT of patience :P
  5. Ah, no, I've been training slayer for combat since about cb level 60 and even with a decent summoning I'm still a ways off from 127 On-Topic: Awesome layer update! I'm about to head off to finish my Warped Terrorbirds to try her out (And she doesn't assign them either). Fair enough, but it varies alot with people. Most people will put off training slayer to 75+ until they have some relatively high combat stats. The greater demon spot here would be good for people who train slayer from a low combat, there just aren't too many people (in my experience) who do that.
  6. I wasn't the 1,000,000 visitor to youtube!??! Zomg I want my free car!
  7. CT is a way better place for them even if they were there :P Very cool update but the new dungeon isn't much of an appeal. Lots of people complain about campers but if you do your tasks the smart way and use the best spots you'll be quick to realise campers are almost never a problem (only exception I've found is hellhounds/blue drags. Despite what people think, it is easy to world hop and find an empty world for cannoning kalphites). Dark beasts - Much more convenient in old spot with the new teleport to the light temple. Gargoyles - Better in CT for use of combat familiar. Greater demons - Roughly equal to karamja dungeon (most 80+ slayers are 127+cb, I imagine 75+ are aswell) already, but karamja dungeon gives you the option of cannoning for those who don't mind the dogs. Blue drags - Never used a slayer master that assigned them, but with 70 agil I'm sure the crowding is bearable in Tav dungeon at non-peak times. Hellhounds - Only good monster in this dungeon IMO, but I still hate killing them. Abby demons - Decent, but using the fairy ring spot or slayer tower with air strikes is just as good. Iron/Steels - Kinda unneeded after the last update. In any case, I burthoped these even when they weren't as crowded, I blocked them when it became possible, and I'm not about to change now. However, the ring is nice. I'm just wondering if that +4 damage gives you exp as usual (most static damage doesn't gives exp, eg. RoR, retribution, vengence etc.). Also forgot to say, Jad reward is disapointing. It should only be offered once a week or so and offer a large reward such as 300k+ exp OR give you some awesome new item reward. Preferably not a trimmed fire cape since that's unfair on those who already have one (no, I don't have a fire cape right now. I'd consider it if the reward was better). Neither do I really care if lvl 3's can get a cape. They need to get a real job if they have that time to waste ;-)
  8. I'd stay with the normal prayer book. I'll admit I haven't used the curse book ALOT, but enough to put me off using it as a casual monster killing book. The reflect curses don't really reflect much damage at all (less than a recoil, I'd say) and whenever you're hit there's an annoying animation delay (like when you use d claw specs). Then again I've only got 80 prayer, I have no idea if 90+ prayer makes curses worthwhile in casual monster killing.
  9. A strength level of 40 doesn't provide double the max hit of a strength level of 20. I think you just need to find something to do when you kill abby demons other than staring and making up conspiracies. Anyway, I hit abby demons less accurately than black demons so I doubt their defence is the same. It also isn't clear how Jagex control monster abilities behind the scenes, if they even share the same stat system as players do. Perhaps Jagex just plonk in a max hit/accuracy/defence rate. Or all monsters have the same stats and their abilities are governed by giving them invisible weapons and armour (with no animations) with bonuses on them. There's some conspiracies for you.
  10. Really? Strange. When I click on the link it has two buttons for free users and premium users. I've put a copy on megaupload --> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PMMWYN03 There's a free user option there aswell, not sure why rapidshare wasn't giving you the option.
  11. The update would be extremely small, you wouldn't even notice the extra delay in the load screen. It only takes 10min for the server to start counting down and reset so it's pretty easy to miss the reset. Then again, they could have very easily coded it so that you can't activate parts of the event before a date. I wouldn't recommend trying to guess item combinations :P
  12. It looks like a quest-boss similar to barrelchest at best. I doubt it'll be a real boss, it doesn't stand a chance in hell at being a "super" boss. Some interesting tech stuff in there but it's a pretty old video, I remember seeing it a long time ago.
  13. If it wasn't for RunesScape, most people would have just spent all that time playing another video game or watching TV. That said it isn't the games fault if someone spends too much time on it (reminds of the "please take a break!" messages guild wars gives out after 2+ hours, lol). I'll admit I've wasted more time than I would like on RS but that was in junior school years, all kids around 13 just sit on their [wagon] and watch TV/computer so I think I'm far from alone. I've been able to drop RS from my routine pretty well now that I'm in the last year of my school. It's a matter of self-discipline, if you can't do that then you may have many other problems in life as well.
  14. Hah, was about to post the same thing. I think this is a really good thing for Jagex to do, they might not be able to enforce this on all offenders but people will certainly get second thoughts after reading that when thinking about whether or not to set up a phising site.
  15. Edit - I'm an idiot. Nevermind, saw this in new topics and thought it was H&A. Sorry not sure.
  16. Whip by a mile, no comparison.
  17. Tormented demons. If your current character is just being made to be a PKer, it might be a -very- big pain gaining all the requirements for While Guthix Sleeps (most PKers leave quests and most stats for their main accounts).
  18. Pretty sure the rusher just says that as a joke and/or to annoy the person who got rushed. If the rushed person says gf, I have no idea why. Maybe it's how their therapist told them to handle e-rage ;)
  19. I wouldn't consider players picking weapons with higher DPS a problem, although I think I know what you mean. However, I wouldn't change weapon types either. However I would either modify current monsters to make certain attack style difference much more noticeable or start making weapons that are up there with GS/whip but use crush or stab. Anchor was a step in the right direction, except that it pretty much sucks DPS wise. I don't see any harm in raising the crush bonus on godswords and Dharoks, either.
  20. They're so-so. I'd only bother killing them off-task if you wanted some range exp with profit. I haven't killed enough to give you an accurate drop rate, but they have nice all around drops and are a nice quiet training spot. Just for money, there are much better alternatives. Just for range exp, there are much better alternatives aswell. They're a bit of a mix between exp and profit, sorta like abby demons.
  21. Significantly faster (atttack speed and kills per hour wise), stronger and more accurate than cheap alternatives. Your combination focuses on prayer bonus, but you are actually losing money by using it. Because your accuracy is so much lower, you use more prayer pot doses per waterfiend, even though your prayer drain rate is lower. If you're not going to let people convince you, at least sub out the unholy book for a rune defender (+18 crush +5 strength. Your wasting your time if you don't take it up).
  22. Actually, spear has +5 crush accuracy while SS has +7 strength bonus. Strength is normal more valuable per point, but since accuracy is important at fiends, they're roughly the same. Whip+Def only really works with 99 att+slayer helm (you might even want to use 10% accuracy if you do try it). Even then, ZS/SS have better DPS. Kinda pointless trying it because the only reason to do it is if you want attack exp, however you pretty much need 99 attack to do it properly. On topic, godswords are horrible at waterfiends. Godswords only come out on top when whip (or ZS/SS in this case) have extremely low accuracy. A weapon on crush mode is actually pretty accurate there, so godswords are a no-no. If you aren't fussed about what exp you want to get and you don't already have either a ZS/SS, go with ZS. Just because it costs less.
  23. Yes, you can (as long as the boost is not invisible). Boosts usually DO help, just not for equipping items and a few odd other abilities like using RC pouches.
  24. Are swamp titans still worth making? Swamp lizards are 1.3k ea which seems insane. I could swear when I was getting 89 summon they were significantly cheaper. The 6-month GE graph shows a small price spike lately but they've always been hovering around 900 when they're at their cheapest. I don't want to waste enourmous amounts on secondaries alone but I really don't want to go back to rock lobs :|
  25. Hey, don't do it then....Did you whine about the elite diary? I am expecting at least 1 of the diaries to contain mining and smiting runite, and killing a higher level slayer monster, maybe an abby or a dark beast. Doesn't the current elite diary have something about smithing rune items already? I can't wait for the elite tasks, but I can't help to wonder if the achievement diary set bonus will require elite. Right now I'm thinking there will be a set bonus for each level of achievement equipment (all easy task equipment, all medium equip, etc.)
