07-Oct-2009 - High-level Herblore Potions
Lets_3ekout replied to Mdeoxys's topic in General Discussion
ROAR. (Woof?) Awesome update, don't look forward to seeing how much I'm going to have to spend on herblore in terms of money/time for these new potions but certainly one of the most worthwhile things in the game to spend your time going for. -
From what I have in the guide, range is faster. However as people have mentioned, my melee section for black dragons is pretty heavily outdated. I believe melee is faster if you use whip/leaf bladed sword. I've found whip to be pretty accurate now that I've maxed my melee and piety. Not sure how no piety works, but I'd probably go with the lead bladed sword without it. Range is alot more easy killing though, since you don't have to worry about hp/prayer. Thanks to everyone for contributing but I can't even find time to properly reply to each of you. I'm going through some tough times right now, our family lost our house to debt and we've had two cars completely written off since we managed to crash those, all in two weeks, while I have to keep up studying several hours a day for senior school. Just thought I'd share since I feel bad for not changing anything in this guide for quite awhile.

Before slayer points, I super potted all burthope tasks and I would still do so if burthoping became worth while. To a serious slayer, the time saved is worth it, super sets cost nothing. D B axe is a waste of special bar, if you're going to pinch penies don't do it in a way that slows you down.

Vyrewatch Killing - Shades minigame extension
Lets_3ekout replied to Tritous's topic in General Guides
Just got my 500th vyre kill/burn using this guide. Thanks again :) (Didn't get anything decent, only TT items were a sara page and a heralidic rune med) Yes, but they don't show up on the equipment stat page. It's an invisible boost (sort of like a crystal saw gives an invisible boost to construction). -
2nd September 2009 - Shops, RuneTek5, Autocasting, Patches
Lets_3ekout replied to Sentry_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
You can always count on players to never give an update a shot. Whine whine whine. It's all people can do, apparently. Last night I saw a topic on RSOF, and despite being a RSOF thread it had a great point. Everyone judges an update by the amount of bugs that comes with it, ignoring the update itself. -
What do you do in day-to-day 'scaping? Unless you do dragon hunting and LOTS of it, no. The only exception is boss hunting of course, but a BSS serves as an effective and relatively cheap replacement. Bosses where a DFS can be used are the GWD bosses (although not always - people not tanking at bandos should always use a rune defender if they're using a whip), DK's and a few more. One last thing it can be good for is range/mage tanking. You really have to be dedicated to one of those tasks to make a DFS anywhere near the cash invested, especially since you've already got a rune defender. Generally the answer to your question would be no, it's quite overrated.

what to train on from 90 to 99 str... =]
Lets_3ekout replied to steeltitan9's topic in Help and Advice
Strength, Hitpoints, Slayer and Summoning (Charms). It could be as many as 8+, controlled on whip --> attack, strength, defence, hitpoints. Charms give summoning, cannon gives range, bones can be used for prayer and of course there's slayer. If you wanted to go overboard you could even add herblore (grimy herbs) and others to the list :P Slayer is a wise long-term way to train. Personally I'm stuck with all combat skills a few [wasted] million exp past level 99 and a slayer level of 90. I have a long run with only slayer and summon levels to look forward to. All because I decided to grind armoured zombies for all my melee stats 90-99. However, armoured zombies are by far the best option for just getting levels and fast. All skill requirements for defender of varrock and completely worth getting, just for AZ's (and a short and sweet quest :D ). -
A line has to be drawn between an unfair advantage and holding players back from enjoying themselves because some people can't afford a monitor/graphics card worth more than $50. I really don't see the problem with this, especially as the disadvantage is not tied to an account, but specific to the computer you play on. So someone with a bad computer at home could go into an internet cafe (or whatever they're called) and play on par with your average HD player.

My house is totally bugged, I tried teleporting in and it says "Invalid teleport!" about 5 times during the loading screen and kicks me outside. I talked with a player outside who seemed frustrated and they had the same issue. Just tried something and it seems to work when I go into building mode, but otherwise normal mode doesn't work. Hopefully a quick fix will come up.

Isnt combat skills the best way to go?
Lets_3ekout replied to TotalTalker's topic in General Discussion
Combat is generally a good thing to train, but not for any of the reasons you stated. Combat will generally provide the best money makers in the game and is easy for everyone to train. The fact that you're considering playing Runescape "hard work" and you feel a need to show that off to people who you don't know is a pretty big sign that you should rethink why you play Runescape. -
Who couldn't see this coming? You'd have to be a fool. I mean, the ammy was only half-decent, hardly worth it's price for your average player. The rich/smart people use furies anyway since they use pray range boosts.
-
I think the only way would be if it got bought out, or something extreme happened (like, say, a meteor hit the earth. lol.). But the playerbase is far too strong for RS to just fade away, especially with the management it is under now. If it were to fade away, I'd predict 20 years before such a thing would happen. There are alot of dedicated players playing RS.

Do you consider this to be against the rules/reportable?
Lets_3ekout replied to runoilija92's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it should be against rules, but I do think it should be nerfed. Is getting carpal tunnel really what combat should be about? I hate the feeling of praying a task without pray flashing since I feel like I'm wasting money, but if I pray flash combat gets boring and my wrist starts to hurt. In any case I wouldn't consider it a large issue, at all. -
This. If you want to play smart and efficiently, self-sufficiency is sadly un-realistic. "Dying breed" seems over-glorified as well, lol. I know I'm generalising when I say this, but there's a reason why those who are self sufficient are almost always either low levels or mid levels (total level wise).

PvP is alot less safe then you could imagine (DDOS'ing)
Lets_3ekout replied to n00bfiterpk6's topic in General Discussion
The problem with DoS attacks is between the keyboard and the chair. You can have the worlds best software protection, hardware in your network worth millions, but if the user is stupid you won't be safe. A smart user on windows is safer from infections and attacks than a stupid one on Linux. That said, it's disturbing so many people are doing it. What makes it worse is how damn easy it is to learn and do a DoS attack, I could teach an 8 year old how to do it. I think Jagex should put up a newspost on their main page on this, including a dumbed-down guide on how to make sure you stay as safe as possible from these attacks. The only drawback is it might encourage even more people to DoS attack others. There's nothing more Jagex can really do. -
As a pmod, I can tell you that this is NOT against the rules. Jagex has repeatedly said that this is not regarded as spam. This is game related spam, and therefore is within the rules. The bad spam is the "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" type. Do NOT report them, unless you believe they are using an auto typer.

but there are different types of nerds. like computer nerds and anime nerds ect ect the list goes on forever No such thing as nerds. Only smart people and idiots. Thus, being a nerd is irrelevant to Runescape, thus, Runescape is not nerdy.

I think lumby basement (RFD chest) is one click as well. Edit: Woops sorry, didn't see you wrote no quests required. Duel arena, CW and soul wars it is.

200 hours, maybe. It varies wildy, depending on things such as your stats, concentration, equipment, combat familiar, cannon, potions, slayer master etc. But 200 hours is what it will roughly take from what you've told us about your equip.

Runescape and Funorb Shirts coming to the JagexStore
Lets_3ekout replied to Oathkeeper's topic in General Discussion
Kids beware, wearing these to school may be a health hazard. Although it looks like Jagex finally worked out it works best when their T-shirts don't have "Runescape" printed all over them -
Nothing can compare to WGS. Epic story, epic animations, epic new areas, epic movie clips, epic reward. If it were more difficult, it would be the perfect quest.
-
^Tracking down whoever did it is very difficult. Also, they might be in some country where they haven't yet made DDOS'ing illegal. But I'm not very good on legal issues, so for all I know maybe the UK can still take action against someone in another country.

Do *NOT* go all the way to 75 crafting just for slayer rings. The new crafting potions are readily available, very cheap and save you millions. Since a full inv of slayer rings will last you weeks, if not months, the fact that you have to pot up doesn't slow you down at all. You only need level 72 with crafting potions Or you can just ask someone on RSOF to assist you. As for the leveling part, I went to 72 using green dhide bodies and SC needles. It wasn't too expensive, and it was very fast.

Clear your cache maybe? I don't think it matters too much, lol.
