I'm sure you all agree... SURPRISING ANALYSIS - 4TH LINK
Merchant clans are only part of the problem. This thread is about the overall inflation, not about single items. And I think that 3rd link really tells us, we are screwed :D

Funny Examines!
Actually that wouldn't nullify the argument since it commits the fallacy of Ad Hominem. Instead of creating an argument in your defense you simply point out what the other person's bad points are. :D But in this case, it isn't between two equals. It's between a superior (Jagex) and an inferior (you). Since the superior is supposed to set an example, anything the superior does is ok for the inferior to do. It is for this reason that Jagex doesn't ban you for being subtle ;) Also, I really really loved that examine. Seldom saw something this subtle in Runescape. Subtle enough to even make a tip.it-member not get it :P

Tip.It Times: 12 July 2009 - Addressing the Anti-Hack Key
As for article 1, I completely agree with the original poster. Myself, I haven't been hacked in any way on the internet for the past 8 years of intensive usage. From day 1, I used a combination of passwords, which are combination of numbers and letters. A lot of websites require this type of combination, as it makes passwords generally harder. Why need a device for a game? If you can't keep that secret, how on earth are you protecting your bank records? Also, on the point where he mentioned Jagex wouldn't return money/items? With recent changes, you can't trade of more then 60k per 15 minutes. What can you possible lose when hacked? It takes hours to get through 5m. I, as an old WoW player, know that customer service at Blizzard makes every other customer service you come across look like rubish. In my opinion, they should take lesson of that. They made an immensly safe game. Their moderators are able to keep track of everything. They can even tell you, to the hour exact, how long an item has been on your account and where it comes from. Crazy customer service I tell you. Almost no automated messages coming from their office, most is personal writing (with automated parts in it). This service made me feel secure. Far more then an USB device can possible offer me. Btw, what if your device gets stolen? Back to square 1? As for the second article. I do not know where you got your information from, but.. wow.. That is a load of bull- In long term prospect, yes an economy will balance. But in a game that is not even 10 years old, do you really want an unstable economy for over a year? Construction and summoning were money-dumps which caused the exact effect you've explained. This was anticipated and intended by Jagex. Having this PvP system and people abusing 26k-ing at this scale simply is not anticipated. Problem mostly lies in the fact that there is an immense gap between various money-making methods. Gathering earns you no more then 200k. 26k-ing earns you well over 400k upwards to 1m per hour. Due to the large change in demand, but also the large decrease in supply, prices start exploding. Not rising. Not rising very fast. There is to much instability which simply is not anticipated. We called it ''the crisis'' in real life. In Runescape, you can consider this ''a crisis'' to. Also the article states, it will be fixed in the future. However that does not change the current situation. It might when it does get fixed, but for now and till the moment the tide will change, it is out of control. If the community of Runescape and Tip.it did not raise their voices over this alarming method of money-making, nothing would have changed. Do we over-react? No. We are forcing Jagex to take action to fix it as it gets worse by the minute. Is it fixed yet? No. Is it getting worse? Yes As for this week. Great articles, great discussion.

Positive Aspects of the 26k Trick
Source please? I did not take this picture, Soma2035 gave it to me. I don't know his source but I will be sure to ask him later today if he's online. http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3971/090708175953.png Don't fix it, just ban it. ''But Sir moderator, I was just PK'ing with a single item. It isn't my fault I had 50k in my pocket and lost that while doing a friendly Deathmatch against some guy in full ahrim and whip with darkbow who happens to be my best friend for 2 years and has an unfair advantage in this fight. See, I even brought 2 lobsters to heal myself during the fight.''

Nerfing the 26k trick.
So.. you.. studied hard to figure that out? I'm afraid your wrong. Yes, prices rose because there was a lack of resources when bots dissapeared. When bots ruled the trees, it was more profitable to do other things. Skilling things most often, bosshunting, those things. Not 26k'ing, which 'didn't exist. Bots caused prices to drop not because of there was a change in inflation. Bots caused prices to drop because of an outreagous supply. They were all gone at some point, supply dropped. Demand stayed the same. Effect: higher prices. (you really did study for this did you?) So far, you are right. Reason: dropping supply, high demand. People previously (when bots were there) found better ways to earn money. Because their previous way (gathering) is valued far lower due to bots. Not because their new methods are great. Now the situation as it is now: 26k'ing is causing supply to drop by a certain amount. People don't gather, people rather 26k. However, this is just a fraction of what is causing price-erruptions (can't call it risings anymore can we?). The problem is, people are making huge sums of money, 500k upwards. When bots excisted, people didn't gather but also didn't make 500k upwards. Years ago, 200k-300k per hour was considered normal/high. So, low supply, insane demand. Current situation: Higher prices. Reason: low supply, high demand. People have found a better way to earn money. Not because there previous ways are bad, but because their new method (26k'ing) is great.

10th July 2009 - The Jagex Anti-Hijack System and DevBlog
Respect for good communication skills by Jagex. Respect for upgrading systems. Respect for not rushing things but getting it right the first time (which, as we all complain is often not the case :P but we take it as it is and laugh it off) Nothing but a good job :) good to hear such news. Hope it turns out the way they plan it

You call this Honor?
yeah and he has 10items of food less giving you a huge edge, so why complain? Was that me? If so, by honor pking i mean any form of pking not using the 26k trick :ohnoes: :ohnoes: And no, it wasnt JUST you. alot of my friends told me that my way of gaining money is spineless. |Do real pking| they would say. Why pk and make a huge loss if i can 26k and make profit? Why you shouldn't: If you enjoy it.. do it. For the sake of population: You're killing it. Who's problem is that to fix: Jagex :)

Positive Aspects of the 26k Trick
I read the original post and comments and.. then I read the original comments again. I went like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6GuEswXOXo Your positive aspects will turn against you in a spiral movement. That means, that A(1) leads to B, B leads back to A(2), but instead of leading back to A(1), you end up at A(2) which is exactly the same as A, but on a more worse scale. The only real difference is, those noobs who used to ask you what you wore, WILL be wearing what you wear and will damn sure show off with it. There are more then 1 way for a 'noob' to annoy me. Asking what I'm wearing isn't the biggest one. There is no positive thing about 26k'ing. I myself have tried it with 100% ep. Got it once, will never get it again. I watched some fights, had some laughs, invited a friend over. Died a few times. Killed a few times. 1.6m richer in just 2 hours of work. Previously I made only 400k an hour if I focused, now I do 800k an hour doing nothing. Many respected economics, which include many professors at the University of Tilburg, the general opinion to what caused the crisis is greed. We can argue about it, feel free to PM me. The point is as followed: so.. in real life, the economy gets turned upside down and goes down the gutter, because people went greedy and (important factor here) were able to become greedy! Wanting more isn't to bad. Giving in and achieving this, is what caused the crisis. 26k'ing allows people to give into their greed. Easy money with far higher outcomes then other terms of making money. Eventually (long term) people could state that other methods become more profitable then 26k'ing, but that would mean flax-price for example would need to be near 4x!! the amount it is now. That is a 400% inflation required to balance out the game. In real life, we get scared if we see 4%. Easy money isn't better money. Not always. At least not in this case. I rest my case, good luck being mr. brightside (great song). 12pure34 out

You call this Honor?
HONNNNNNORRRRR?! THIS IS SPAAAAAAAARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA! or.. MY HOONORR LEVEL IS OVERRRRRRR 9000!!!!!!! I don't really care about all this honor or whatever it is called. I don't PK at all for this reason. Last time I was watching a fight and popped on prayer, they asked me (read: demand me) to turn of prayer. Now, why would I?! O yes, so you can kill me. Why not eat at 50 hp? O ye, so you can kill me. What do I gain from dieing? Nothing what so [cabbage] ever. If you don't like it, don't do it. Or just turn of general chat and wish for the best. If you are going to fight, make rules before the fight. Stick to those rules. If they don't, then you shouldn't either. Don't go around saying ''at least I have my selfrespect'', I don't know what you 'have' but I do know what you don't have anymore. Your stuff.. Stick to the rules of a fight which you made. If you didn't make rules, feel free to break.. no wait, you can't break rules you didn't set! Awesome! PS: Even in RS classic, there was no honor, but at least you were forced to fight 3 rounds. And there was a lot less swearing

Share your notes
-Take revenge on sister (not seriously) Haven't used the notes yet, but I can see this being very usefull for real life planning aswell. So you won't forget to do things while playing. Like.. letting your sister get out the washing-machine after an hour.

A P2P player' guide to moneymaking
I don't think some of your methods actually.. do what you tell them. All you do is name the most basic ways of gathering gold. If you plan on making this guide close to something the least you should aim for is: Average earnings per hour or estimated earnings. Prices perhaps? Link to the GE for this. Pictures are the absolute bomb, add them if you can. Try to actually come up with new methods. Cutting yews is as old as Runescape 2 (or even RS classic). At the moment, this is nothing more then a tip in my eyes.

Henry's guide to 15+chest a trip.(Barrows)
Well, I tried this method for once, was bored and well :P barrows isn't that boring. I took your entire set-up and managed to succesfully do 4 trips with.. about 4 pray pots or so. Twice dharok in tunnel at chest, because I was to lazy to force him somewhere. The guide is right on, but upgrades are possibe. First off, try to link the side-step pictures so people do not have to click-to-enlarge them. Makes it easier to read the guide. Lay-out is very important. Use proper headers for instance, it looks like a wall of text, which makes it a hard-read. Upgrade the gear-section a bit more clearly. Explain which parts are essential and which parts can be upgraded/downgraded in order from best to worse. Ofcourse you can't downgrade nessecary items. Also I advice for dharok as first target, since you will be at full health in his case. This will make it more likely for you to survive any accidental hit. Verac second perhaps, since he has the largest chance to hit. Ahrim -> Karil -> Dharok -> Verac -> Torag -> Guthan, I'd say. Also you are reffering to 'other guides'. It is best to point towards which guides and credit these guides for that. For example, a basic barrow guide is on the tip.it website/ in the archieve of wisdom. Good luck, I liked the method.

Farming
Yesterday I finished my 100 snapdragon seeds. Bought for 4.8m. All the snapdragons eventually sold for 7.2m. Seeds for 20 herb rounds, lasting 15 minutes each at worst, 8 minutes at best. Let us say 12 minutes average. 7.2m - 4.8m = 2.4m Amount of trips: 20 Total time on trips: 240m aka, 4 hours. 2.4m / 4 hours = 600k per hour. Now herb rounds, thats time well spend!!

I'm sure you all agree... SURPRISING ANALYSIS - 4TH LINK
They are going to fix this? Wasn't fairy area or ardougne diary the next big thing? On topic: I have a friend that bots and lets his bots die for his main. Easy tricking for him :S Bots gather wealth, PvP trick the wealth over to main, it isn't 100% but.. come on!! He is making money botting. He's my friend, but.. sickens me. (yes I reported and warned him aswell)

Quick Supercompost
I think you can only get them from the vinesweeper shop, they cost 5k vinesweeper points, and you get one from Garden of tranquility quest. If you leave an offer on max price for a week you should get at least five of them. Oef that is extremely limited. Better off buying watermelons in that case and filling up all 4 compost bins, seeing this method appears to be just ''an extra''. Nontheless, great find.

Omg pro-est thing ever!@!@!@!
Try minigames mixed up with things like farming, events and all those things :P You don't need to be 99 in everything to enjoy runescape. For the creator of this topic, I kind of enjoy your stats, you've seen to found your way around Runescape :) It is nice to see that and I got 70 mining myself aswell :P a painfull stat haha. For 70 mining, ofcourse a 10/10, for your other stats, I'd say a 7.5/10 at least. I like your style :)

Farming
Once in a while I get addicted to it. From 50 to 65 or so, went extremely fast. Due to the cheap price of watermelons back then (2 years ago), I did herbs + watermelons, with willow trees, curry trees. Thing is, it.. was so relaxing. Wether you do 15 minutes of 30 minutes to do an allotment round, it doesn't matter much really. More then 3/4th of the work gets done while you do other things / log out. It is awesome. Currently I reached 70 and I am doing only Snapdragons atm. Invested 4m into seeds, getting 6.5m out of it or something. If watermelon seeds ever get cheaper again, I will become addicted again :D I just love watermelons haha. PS: who wants to buy 3.5k+ strawberries ? :P PS2: I noticed a few posts above someone stated 4 herbs minimal. With magic secrateur and super compost, the minimum is 5, average is about 7-8. About 10% dies if you include My Arm's patch. With all that involved, average ranges anywhere from 6-7 per patch on longterm. Can be higher, can be lower, Statisticly it is around 6.8 I believe. Just a little bit of info.

What do you think about the Trade Limit?
Well a reason I could think of is either: A) The person was going to make a HUGE profit on an item, BUT.. trade limit stopped him *j/k* B) We finally had a long long long time to consider what we think of it and it is now time to discuss this Or C, my personal favorite) ALIENS TRY TO BUY OUT EARTH FOR A DOLLAR BUT JAGEX SET EARTH FOR AN OVERPRICED NUMBER ON GRAND EXCHANGE AND NOW ALIENS CAN'T BUY EARTH DUE TO TRADE LIMITS AND ARE GOING TO MERCH THE EARTH!! On topic tough: Having the questcape, I don't mind :P 50k trade limit gets you a long way and the best thing of all is, PvP brings in a load of junk. (Not that I care about pvp/combat tbh, but for a lot of people it adds up)

runecrafting natures
Correct me if I wrong but you created this thread in order to prove that you have "rediscovered" a better method of runecrafting and now you make this statement. All this is telling us is despite there being a better method of runecrafting, you are sticking to your ways because you are "different". I am sorry but hardly anyone cares if you prefer a certain method because you are different, when there are better faster ways available. You know many of us could have tested this method out just to prove you wrong but it would be a waste of our time since it is so blatantly obvious that this method is undoubtedly slower. I agree with Gold. I came in here to discuss one of my personal favorite skills. I am unbyassed (no opinion), but as a researching person myself and a clear thinker I follow the logics of mathematics. Previous, they have proven that there is a significant difference in your results and the ghraaking results. The loss of a pouch and ''a little'' lag, doesn't cut back productiveness by 60% (40% * 2.5 = 100%, factor 2.5 was used earlier in this post). By all means, you are allowed to find your own method. Often people prefer a less 'suffisticated method' (oh boy.. a word I can't even spell properly). Thing is, before the update, people had infinite running energy aswell, using a terrorbird. Alltough this isn't a essence carrying familiar, they were able to compare running times same way as they do now. Problem is, time spend at the musician is time wasted aswell, in my view counter-acting productiviness of an essence carying familiar. In other words, now you will make bigger trips, previous they did more trips, using the same method just a different familiar. Sorry, it is almost becoming a guide now. I'll come to the conclusion now: Your method is still as outdated as it became when the Abyss was introduced. The only difference is, it is slighty better then it was in the past due to Essence carying familiars and the energy update. Problem is that the ''more efficient'' (see me not using better here) also became better. Netting out, your method is still outdated in terms of efficiency. You are running tests or have people running tests by now I hope. Using simple methods, my personal guess is, your method is at least 30-35% slower then Ghraaking and about 20-25% slower then Abyss. Have fun testing tough. I respect people that take time to try something out and are willing to do something new. Thing is, out of 100% of ideas, only 10% reaches market ;) Your just a victim of the 10% who did got their succes.

Getting the Most out of runescape daily/weekly.
Why put the battlestaves on the GE right away? Even if you don't have the level to craft them if you saved them until you do you'd make a huge amount of crafting experience, and decent mage exp from alching them afterwards. You still make around 1 k profit per staff you alch plus the mage and crafting exp. To each his (or her) own though, but if you're into getting fast exp then saving battlestaves would be smart. I noticed the discussion above. Ofcourse you can buy the air orbs from the GE aswell straight away. Personally I am not interested in crafting experience. If I want it, I will get it my own way using the money earned with buying these ;) Personally, I can't miss the 7m if I saved up for 1k battlestaves ;)

Quick Supercompost
A great way indeed. It is to bad that gathering compost is rather slow, but this way, at least you get it rather quick and very cheap. Great for starters. Impressive how you found this, but how fast you'd reckon to get 10-20 compost potions? Or how to get them other then from the GE?

Getting the Most out of runescape daily/weekly.
For your MTK part, you state 10 coal / 5 raw fish. I knooooooow you are the one deciding what to put there. What you could do is have a look at several guides out there. Most state 10 raw fish / 5 flax (or maples). Might just be a hint, it will be a forever debate I am sure. Something you should advice people to do on daily basis is to make them do a farm-round of just herbs (and or allotments, but thats for their own). Doing just herbs, rounds take less then 10 minutes. 4 or 5 patches depending on My Arm's great adventure quest. I do this on a daily base, often 2-3 times a day, depending on playing time. The great thing is, I got a route which matches several methods. Ardougne patch -> Falador patch -> Ghosttown (ye what is that name) patch -> Trollheim patch -> Seers flax --> Catherby patch -> Buy seaweed / pineapple -> Teleport house (Yanille) to get Sand from Bert -> Back into house, Varrock portal -> Buy staves, put them on grand exchange straight away. Also possible --> From their fairy ring at edgeville -> CIP code -> MTK getting reputation up and perhaps check coffers / get rewards. Great guide, knew most of it thankfully, but for a VERY long time, I didn't. Great info for everyone to read.
