Although the assumptions are justified, the number of players fishing at a spot should NOT affect the rate of the fishing. This is because the rate which any fishing spot changes position is random (if not a set number). If what you say is true, then on a busy world you should be changing your position every minute, and you should not move for at least 10 minutes when you are alone. Neither of these are true (well at least as accurate as my approximations can be). Why is this? Because fishing spots spawn infinite amount of fish, while things like trees and ore do not spawn infinite number of logs or ore. They must 'rest' for a while before they respawn. Fishing does not require this, the moving fishing spot is merely used to deter macro'ers. edit : All of the above information is entirely my assumption, and could be wrong, completely.
