http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoNSNvWpYP8 Looks like I might consider selling my claws. The attack is magic based? Pretty accurate
-
Lol the korasi sword wiki page is currently being trolled Anyway, with a vigour ring you can do a korasi + dclaw combo. With spec restore you can do 2x korasi's. I'm not sure whether korasi is better or worse than dclaw, but it's definitely more disposable. High protect value though meh.
-
The spec apparently hits high 700's... can anyone confirm this / comment on its accuracy? If it's that good then the quest isn't terrible and I would even consider selling my claws
-
How good is the special on the new sword? Could be a decent pking weapon.
-
to be honest id rather use a netbook and a mouse.

as a disclaimer, i haven't really followed this thread, but in general: why can't we just stop arguing. lol. tif is so flamey now

SGS is still very good for pvp without food (though that's just limited to clan wars mostly). For slayer/training, EEE is better though imo. ZGS is and was always pretty much useless. BGS can still be used for some bosses (corp). AGS is now useless after maul was released.

1st October, 2010: Behind the Scenes - October
TheAncient replied to BloodAngel's topic in General Discussion
yak use in bone and ovl making might be nerfed :( i'm curious about the godswords though. -
Again, another iteration of "personal opinion = fact" Most of the conclusions are highly dependent on personal preferences. There's gonna be "one right answer" for each specific situation but that answer depends on so many variables out of our control that it's more or less pointless to try to do all of that research to find it out.

5 and + simultaneous clicks? (Mousekeys)
TheAncient replied to BodomofFilth's topic in Help and Advice
Another option is to repeatedly press 5 and move your mouse across your herbs. This is the fastest possible way of cleaning, I think. For things like fletching bolts or grinding something for herblore, use 5 / + and alternate your mouse between the two items. -
Was that a no to me or one to Impressionist or...? Emphasized part was to you, other part is to impressionist.

Not sure but maul can hit 700+ on task. I'm starting to have seconds thoughts on getting the maul, since the SS is 50% faster. In general, I prize speed over accuracy and strength, so I'm wondering if anyone has done any conclusive testing comparing the 2 weapons there? I'm quite sure the maul has higher dps than any other weapon in the game (on waterfiends, of course) with the possible exception of pvp gear (swh + spec restores or ct fiends + vesta spear + spec restores?), and I think it'd beat most of those, too. No... maybe you mean damage per attack. but definitely not dps. A first order approximation: (off task) Max hit with SS = 450ish? Max hit with maul = 650ish 450*1.5 = 675 And since WF defense is nonnegligible i think we can be pretty sure that maul is better.

People enjoy the game differently. Some people like to be the most efficient because it makes them feel superior to other players. Whether or not that's bad is up to your judgment.
-
It's actually not bad for TD's with a steel titan, as it rarely hits 300+ so titan spec is never nulled.

^ Running around rocks make this not true ^ Not true in clan wars, you can still get PJ'ed
-
The only problem with that is you get PJ'ed easily
-
Oh, I thought you meant kiting against hand cannon and not with one. Yeah, that works - it's probably the best ranged weapon to kite with to be honest. Iunno, I don't think very highly of dangerous PvP so I can't really comment on the issue. lol.
-
I can confirm, but they have very low DPS. Good for sniping though.
-
Noone with a rapier has to stay there and be kited by the guy with a maul, y'know. When it's a 1 vs. 1 fight, kiting isn't useful as the other person has the freedom to just run away, however, when it's a team against a single player it can be more useful. Kiting is an extremely useful strategy in the duel arena. Also, i think hand cannons have longer range than magic so... Anyone using a hand cannon will be ripped by melee lol. And anyone who runs will probably get barraged. Also you can't always run (castle wars, clan wars, most of safe pvp)

That's why crossbows aren't the "end-all-be-all best ranged weapon". People sometimes don't notice crossbows only have a max range of 9, while crystal bows, dark bows, and longbows can reach 10 spaces, as far as magic. A lot of mages don't know bout this technique. Plus all of those bows have significant disadvantages (low DPS and 2-handed)

For PvP it works best when you can trap an opponent around rocks. What you do is run away and trap them behind the rock, wait until your attack is ready again, and hit in. This can really advantage you in a Rapier vs Maul battle. Not using it in PvP is like not using protect prayers because your opponent whines about it. They'll whine about it, but if it helps me out, I'm gonna do it. Kiting well / keeping distance is actually a crucial part to tribriding well. It's also how good magers can beat rangers (utilizing the 1 more additional spacing magic has against ranged). What I do when I'm maging and face a ranger is I get the first barrage off, switch to range, get a hit in, walk back 10 steps, and kite with mage. It works very very well.
-
Kiting Definition: Run away from a boss/player, then attack, then run away, etc. (think Sara GWD) Why don't people kite in Runescape? It's not as if it isn't that useful. It increases your relative DPS against other players for PvP if you use a slow weapon. It also decreases DPS against you for bosses like Bandos. A really good weapon to kite with would be the chaotic maul.
-
and that is why this thread remains open Either way the point is that neither is clearly better than the other... and most people are exaggerating / not really arguing. If we specifically wanted to address Bandos we could do so in a smaller post. That way we could avoid all of the trolls making the sweeping generalizations
-
Can we get a lock on this please... the discussion value is basically "troll longsword users" or "troll rapier users" x10 page spam CONCLUSIONS: (Assuming Maxed/Ovl/Turm) Slayer: Rapier by far TD's: CLS (or Maul if using steel titan) Bandos: Hotly debated, but both CLS and Rapier are good; Maul speed lets you safely SS so it's also an alternative Sara: Maul Zammy: Rapier PvP: Rapier if you're a really fast hybrid; CLS is most well-rounded; CMaul is for trolling people / having fun but is generally worst WF's: Maul (Without Maxed/Ovl/Turm) CLS/Maul are slightly more useful, but Rapier is still by far the best for slayer and training. IT'S NOT SUBJECTIVE, AND THERE IS NO ONE 'BEST' WEAPON. EACH WEAPON IS GOOD IN A SPECIFIC CONTEXT. NO WEAPON IS BETTER THAN THE OTHERS IN ALL CASES. IF YOU WANT TO ONLY PICK ONE CHAOTIC WEAPON GO WITH WHICHEVER CONTEXTS (see above) YOU WILL RUN INTO MOST. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THE RAPIER BUT EVERYTHING DEPENDS ON PERSONAL STATS/FAVORITE ACTIVITIES. ALSO, STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS. [/thread]
