Meh, general remark I need to make after reading most of this thread and learning about the cult of the sensitive jerk. I'm most definitely not denying the fact that you can have a lot of success being this sensitive jerk, but quite frankly, I believe you guys are attaching too much value to it. With all due humility, I seem to be a sort of a magnet for men for some mysterious reason (really, I don't consider myself pretty by far, but I hear I've got a cold goddess-thing going for me/going against me). I usually have a few suitors around, and they just don't give up . And every time someone tries to pull the arrogant, brimming of self-confidence method on me, I become so cross-grained that nothing will give me more pleasure than bringing the guy down. I've met this man who's the epitome of the sensitive jerk. Self-confident, tall, the right clothes, open-hearted, humorous, ridiculously popular with women, feeling, understanding, intelligent, a musician, you name it. But he's so damn smooth that I can think of no greater treat than to rip his arm out and club him on the head with the wet end. I actually like him, or the him beneath the irritating cover, but I will drop dead rather than giving him his way. That only works the other way on him, obviously, the less I want him, the more he wants me. Now, if he'd simply be the him that I've seen on rare occasions and grown to like, things might be different. As it is, I absolutely loathe and ignore him. In a romantic comedy or a screwball comedy, yes, I know, we'd end up together after a few months of witty bantering. Life, however, is different. Just a side-note. Being yourself > being a successful sensitive jerk. It can blow up in your face.

Just look at the Dutch servers, they're always crowded, with a very high percentage of users speaking Dutch. So I think the French version could turn out to be a hit as well. The problem with the German servers is that they're put apart from the standard list. And that makes them less available somehow. It'd be neat if they'd include those servers in the list, just as they included the chat-speak worlds. Anyway, I also believe there isn't that big a German-speaking usercommunity. French, however, I've seen spoken frequently.

Has everybody gone so 99-crazy that I am really the only one who's thinking 'what?'. You've tried out all the skills sufficiently to gather an idea about the skills you like and don't like. Why not just train one of the first category? 40 million will set you far enough in almost every skill, except for the fast routes to prayer, summoning, construction, herblore and farming. You could always pick out a moneymaker to get you the cash for one of these, as someone else suggested. Since you seem to attach a lot of importance to the 99 factor, you could also pick out a skill that has few capes out there, such as agility, runecrafting, slayer. But I wouldn't recommend them if you don't like them - there's a reason why they're rare.

Of course crime will find me, I've had stuff stolen from me. But what am I going to do? Pull out my gun, threaten the guy and shoot him in the knee? Egads, I don't even know how to wield the damn thing properly without anybody coming to harm, and I'm pretty sure a lot of gun-owners aren't experts either. And even if you are very good with them, why in the blazes should you want to carry it around? Can you really trust yourself with it? Have you any idea what it involves to handle a weapon in a crisis situation? Could you ever forgive yourself if something bad happened? It's a huge responsability, and I do not believe that a lot of people can handle it. Face it, robbery and burglary, yes you have them everywhere, but the odds of being assaulted by a homicidal nutter who is going to skin me slowly, are slim. And even so, a gun may not even save me. A drunken driver might park his car into my house one day, should I have my walls rebuilt with reinforced concrete now? I've read nothing but simplistic excuses for a nostalgic affinity with long-departed times of self-regulation, when swinging around a gun proved your toughness. It's so Freudian that it's almost funny. And no, concealing the gun doesn't actually take away that very attitude.

I will never ever understand the mentality displayed in the original post and the average American's attachment to his gun and a weird self-regulating, government-phobic tendency. Fire weapons are horrific to me. I've never held one and I hope never to. I most certainly do not want one in my house (considering how I managed to get into nearly every closet at home as a child...) and I doubt I could ever aim at a living person, let alone shoot. And I like to think the same goes for most of my neighbours, with the possible exception of hunters who know what they're doing and hold a modicum of respect for life. Merely the knowledge that most of my neighbours could buy a gun in the local Walmart, would make me feel a lot less safe. If guns are easily available, you have two options: - sensible people buy them, and will hardly ever use them, but still have them around and think in some way it's OK to use them - stupid people or people with bad intentions will buy them, and use them in their stupid ways or be careless about them, resulting in children's, lover's, boss's deaths. If guns are not easily available, they will not be as spread among the stupid people and more difficult to obtain by those with bad intentions. And stricter regulations would make that e.g. the police could remove unnecessary arms more easily. I've read most of this thread, and I've not read even one sensible reason why anybody should have a hand gun in his house. Do you guys live in the ghetto's or some version of Sin City or something? As appealing as the Wild West times may seem, they are over.

So you just let yourself be sucked in by the very marketing strategy you ranted about, which made everything fine and dandy? By your own logic, you just joined the Dark Side.

Sometimes, when I'm happy I get kind of frolicky and walk over the streets with a hop and a skip in my tread, like a kid. Gets me lots of weird looks. Apparently, 26 year olds aren't supposed to this. In autumn, I simply can't resist kicking up the leaves. Again, it gets me weird looks. And I love to blow soap bubbles. I often carry a little container around for random bubble fun. Oh and often, when I go out for a drink with someone, I imagine throwing my drink in their face and how they'd react. Or pulling their chair away right before they sit down. I never act upon these urges, being the grown-up that I am, ahem, but they can suddenly pop up in my head, making me dissolve into giggles. Much to the bewilderment of my companion.

Ohhh, Un Chien Andalou. Some of its scenes will haunt me a lifetime (the eye, uuuuurrrrrrghhh). It really does push you from one end to the other. I'm glad I saw it, but... never again. I recently saw: Cruel Intentions - Les Liaisons Dangereuses in a modern setting. Sometimes a bit unbelievable, and sometimes going for cheap wins, this is still an enjoyable film. Good acting jobs by the young actors, especially by Reese Witherspoon, the girl does have talent. That combined with wicked dialogues makes this quite different from your thirteen-in-a-dozen-spotty-teenager-films. Worth the watch. Holiday - Third time I saw it, and still loving it. Cukor makes an admittedly shabby plot sparkle and sizzle. Intelligent, sexy and funny. Superb acting, even/especially by the minor characters. Next weekend, I'm going to give a shot at a 24 hour marathon of big film hits (Casablanca, The Terminator, Silence of the Lambs and unknown others) at a local cinema. I'm curious to see how long I'll last.

White berries are 697 each, as far as herblore secondaries go, they're in the medium price category. A poison ivy bush check gives you 674 + 180 farming xp, whiteberry 437 + 96. No, we're not talking about huge experience, but some farmers do take what they can get. Especially if it's effort free (and cost-free, as the seeds are dead cheap). If you don't have to run up to the castle every time, the tree is pretty fast for a daily check-up visit, seeing as you can weed the farming patch for percentage (you don't have to cut the maples on Miscellania, you can also tend the farming patch next to the bush). A lot of people don't have slayer rings either for quick access to the fairy ring. Like I said, I'm not saying people have to use the method, but it just doesn't go to pretend the tree on Etceteria has no merit whatsoever. I was merely pointing out the options of the two spots, considering that the Port Sarim one has been rendered useless by the explorer ring. Can we now drop this completely useless discussion, please? It looks like you're being stubborn for the sake of it.
-
Heh, this is such an unconstructive debate... ;). Look, I'm not saying the OP has to put his tree there, I have mine at Brimhaven as well. I actually use 'your' method, the fairy rings, to get to MTK myself. But since I like to get to the bush as well, I can see the advantages of a spirit tree on Etceteria, should I not like to have it at Brimhaven.
-
I suggest you reread my post and look on a map.
-
Not if you just need to update your percentage... Just weed the farming patch next to the spirit tree, pick the berries from your bush if you have one (as you should), and you can tele away. I myself put enough gold in the coffers to last me a month, so I don't need to take the trip to the castle every time. Fairy rings are quite a bit more hassle.
-
Yep. If you're planning on doing a lot of tree farming, take Brimhaven. The spirit trees in Varrock, Tree Gnome Village, the Stronghold and Brimhaven get you fairly quickly to a lot of tree patches. I consider the GE tree to be the easiest to reach (either Glory to Edgeville or tele to Varrock, which leads you past the normal tree patch). If you do a lot of MTK, you could also consider using the one on Miscellania/Etceteria. Very fast from GE for a quick daily trip.

Lol, death666bl00ms, not that I don't agree with you, but let's give Krampell the benefit of the doubt. And the truth is, the French and German can be as lamentable at English as the English at French/German. Also, good job [Tip.It user(s)] who insists on using a French phrase, only to have the spelling/grammar wrong. Maybe I'm being too fussy, but if you want to prove you know the language, check what you're writing. I look forward to a French version of RS. I'm already swapping between English and German servers, because I learn heaps (esp. from the German ones). Seeing that I've been speaking French a lot over the past year, it'll be fun to exercise a little through RS - seeing the written word a lot might help me brush up on my spelling.

I believe everything is relative. To a 2 year old it can be a huge drama that his brother took his toy and got away with it. Even though we laugh at his tears, his pain is very real to him. To me, most of the problems that my collegue has ('oh, no, my favourite perfume went out of business') are completely ridiculous. She, however, takes them very seriously. And beyond doubt, some people would find the things I myself take seriously, ridiculous as well. A certain degree of seriousness is important, because it shows what you value in life. To say you take nothing seriously, is a loss rather than a gain, I think. We take death seriously, because we value life so much. Dying yourself isn't that huge a deal, but having someone you love die, is the greatest fear we have. And rightly so... by attaching value to life and death, we can enjoy that life too. Much as I value the ability to put things in perspective and to not take life seriously - something that I definitely try to do- I believe that that, in itself, is a defense mechanism as well. And by defending yourself, you lose not only negative things, but their positive sides as well. I guess it's all about balance. I'm not sure at all if I'm making sense or if I'm even answering the question at all. I seem to have lost my talent for coherent thought today.

Whoa. You know, maybe it's because I'm a woman, but my first reaction is rather practical. Where does she get the blood? On average, a woman only menstruates half a cup a month or so. Okay, she probably still mixed it with other 'stuff' (sorry, am not at home in the wondrous world of paints) for longevity and such, but still. As to whether this is art or not... I myself am not a huge fan of 'shock' art. It reminds me of a Belgian artist who made a 'faeces machine'... you put food into it, and it produced faeces. The same artist once put big rolls of ham on the columns of a public building. To me, that's just too random. Art critics and art specialists come up with a lot of very deep meta-talk to justify the art's existence and you can almost see the artist s[racist term]ing at night "teehee, I got away with it". Don't get me wrong, I'm supposed to be a literature specialist and I know how all of those interpretation and metatheory principles work, having written about quite a few of them myself. But questioning art and the boundaries of art (what makes art art?) was introduced already in the early 1910's, with the start of modernism and Duchamps' ready-mades (look up his 'Fountain' if you're interested). This is nothing new, you know. I dislike how people think it's oh so new and shocking and deep, it just makes me roll my eyes. I did think a few of the paintings were pretty, mind you, but they would have been just as pretty with simple red paint, like Ginger (I think) said. To me, the fact that it's menstual blood does not convey much extra meaning. The whole cycle thing to me is just yadda yadda to cover up for the shock value. Maybe I'm just getting jaded and blasé, considering how much I like the Dada movement and still dislike this.

You have three options: * Slayer Tower: usually very crowded, especially if you want to range them * Mutated: great if you own a cannon * God Wars Dungeon: never a soul to be seen... They give more xp than the slayer tower ones (132 hp versus 120 hp) I've always used GWD, because I wanted to range them. There are plenty of safespots and no irritation due to the crowds. If money isn't an issue and you want extremely fast slayer experience instead of combat xp, cannon the mutated ones.

Go for warped tortoises. They really aren't so bad, they drop rune warhammers/pickaxes very regularly, as well as lots of noted mith ores, noted coal ores, adamant ores and stackable swamp tar. I never got why people hate them so, they're great slayer tasks. Even when I keep the ores and the shells instead of selling them, I easily make 250k from killing 150 tortoises, and about 30 shells. No reason to buy them when you need so few.

Full screen and HD when I'm doing skills I want to give all my attention to (agility, combat,...). The old interface/detail when doing wc, fishing,... the multitask skills I combine with reading on Internet. If I do that on HD my IE lags everytime I swap windows.

No matter how many 99's I'll get in the future, I will never ever take off my Slayer cape. It's a great skill, a rather rare cape, a beautiful cape too. Makes me feel all jedi-like :. I am your fa... uhm, mother, Luke!

:wall: Just because only two wars were named 'World War', does not mean that there haven't been wars with a good deal of the world, as it was known then, involved. The Spanish wars of the 18th century and the Napoleonic Wars can be considered world wars as well. Globalism is a recent trend after all, just as weapons of mass destruction are. They named the Great War World War I because it shifted peoples' perceptions. New weapons were introduced, war took a different shape, became impersonal, more gruesome than even before... It gave rise to a different era.

It's. A. Rock. Teehee. Succinctness (awful word though) equals language power.

Farming is actually a very popular skill with those who don't play much, just because it gives good results with minimal effort... most of the growing happens when you are not playing.

Why the price increase in Super Attack potions?
Sumpta replied to Dr_Locust's topic in Help and Advice
Eek! I sold 2k super attacks for 350 ea two weeks ago. Oh well, good news for the other 1k I was still going to sell. Super attacks have always been ridiculously cheap. Maybe a lot of herblorists have decided to change to super anti poisons (better xp anyway), thus lowering the supply of the attack potions? The price of unicorn horn dust has been dropping over the last week, while super anti poisons have been going up. So it's definitely become far more attractive to train herblore with them, making the super attacks the dupe. -
I do that. I do too. I get home, check my mail, log in, do a quick round, log out, go for a drink, eat or watch a film, log back in and harvest. If I then feel like playing a bit more before I go to bed, I do. If I don't, I do another quick round and turn in. And believe me, I enjoy it, seeing my inventory fill up with nice herbs for no effort at all.
