$700bn Wallstreet Bailout REJECTED
It's hard to say if injecting money into failing banks is a good thing or not. In the short term, it does seem to have an effect. The European banks that came crashing down yesterday, are restoring themselves after government aid. It will at least keep people from pulling their money out and it does restore some confidence with the investors. In the long term... we'll have to wait and see. In any case, I don't feel a government should just remain passive and watch their people lose their houses, jobs and savings. The Dow Jones has lost more points today than was ever seen in its history before... shooting down a possible plan, however rickety, without an alternative, is unwise, to say the very least. But no matter what, it has been clear for quite a while now that we are heading into a worldwide period of recession. The bubble had to burst at one time or another.

Pyramid Plunder Rewards
You can sell all of them noted except the gold ones, if you've done the quest dealing with scarabas. The gold ones you'll have to carry to Simon unnoted.

Be ashemed
There is still a small army of Brits fighting to keep faith in our language. Oh, do you accept foreign, but thorougly Anglophile troopers? I daren't go as far as calling myself elite, but I am in possession of a degree :.

Next skill that's officially been killed - Prayer
I don't see how overexerting your wrist equals to better gameplay or being a better player, so I can only be happy about this update. It's been obvious for months, years even, that Jagex is trying to eliminate the grinding aspects of this game. This is surely not the last "do-x".

Be ashemed
Oh dear. Apart from the fact that I haven't got a clue what you're talking about, I think that this post is incredibly funny really, considering that there are more people on this forum who find bad spelling and grammar offensive than a lost game of CW.

What are your favourite crisps?
I adore these. They are fabulous with any kind of cocktail, next to being absolutely yummy.

Psychology Myths
Funny article, but I am a bit miffed they put horoscopes in the realm of even pseudo-psychology. Just goes to show that the items in this article really have little or nothing to do with psychology as a science.

Fletching, Cooking, Firemaking: The Ultimate Race
may i ask how a new acc would make money and not lose it? It's as easy as having 15 mining and a pickaxe. Even apart from pure essence, there have always been plenty of (gathering) jobs to do to get good money without needing skills. It's just a question of boredom-threshold. At the beginning, you'll obviously mine less, but as the mining level goes up, so will the profit. And let's be fair, if you already know the game, you can even get most of your skills to 60/70 very fast. If you're only going for a small set of skills, those to make money with, the time needed to get that skill up is negligable.

Funding Slayer
I mined tin to 99 mining, that makes me great. Sumona is underrated, but she is worse than Duradel. Not to mention all her tasks are "cannonable" so if your not cannoning, more reason not to use her... Should you bother with expensive equipment? No. They increase your experience by a measly 1 or 2 %. But a cannon ... anyways, anybody can make enough money/hour to make it an efficient method. I hardly think using the best-but-one slayer master is in the same league as mining tin... And since the OP specifically asked for solving his funding problem, dropping the cannon seems a straighforward solution until he does come into a bit of money. So, I find your disparaging of me rather unnecessary.

Fletching, Cooking, Firemaking: The Ultimate Race
It's a cute concept, but I agree with those who advise the mathematical approach. As was pointed out, even on a new character, getting the necessary funds for those three 99's is nothing. It would even be perfectly possible to make enough money to buy the very best logs/fish. Especially your FM could be realised at an amazing speed if you're ready to splash the money. Most people who get these capes on their regular account don't splash, because they're thinking of other skills as well, but this account would be aiming for those three skills only. At the 5 hour rate a day and 150k/hour (those with a nose for the GE could probably even do better), you could make 750k a day, more than 5M a week,... Nevertheless, I agree that people may look down too much on those three skill capes. But it's the combination of their relative easiness and uselessness that makes them underrated. And I don't really have the feeling people look up to the combat capes that much either. There are too many of those as well to be considered truly "cool".

PETA wants Ben & Jerrys to use human breast milk
In the defense of cows, they are very similar to women. Err, let me rephrase that. A cow gives milk as long as you milk her. Similarly, a women can produce milk for her baby for many years as well. The production of milk only ends when you stop milking. Milk cows actually have a calf very regularly (and indeed, forcefully) to be at their best production. Or they are given an amount of hormones similar to those in the blood of a pregnant cow. The reason why cows like being milked, is because they're bursting with it when they're milked regularly: a calf needs to be fed regularly, right? Like some women leak milk when they have a baby they don't breastfeed (rather embarassing). PETA suggested a silly idea for certain, but don't fool yourselves into believing that the milk you consume every day is animal harm-free.

Funding Slayer
Pah, there's really no need for all the equipment people are talking about on this thread. Yes, a cannon is nice and all, but frankly, the xp is fine without it as well, since the cannonable monsters aren't exactly the big toughies either. As suggested, you could use super sets or combat pots to have your prayer pots last longer, and they're not that costly anymore, so that shouldn't be a problem. You could also change masters. Sumona is an underrated, but great master. I've stuck to her all the way to 99 slayer and I've made a bucketload of money. She assigns heaps of not too difficult herb- and seed-dropping monsters. And that's where the money is at the moment. You'll find that even some of the easiest slayer monsters are worth their while, with all the seeds and pure essence they drop.

Men With Sexist Views Earn More
The problem with this conjecture is that most people do not know whether their jobs are paying them equally or unequally (hence the dearth of lawsuits on pay discrimination). I don't see how that changes my hunch. It's true that most people don't know, but most people aren't sexist/feminist. So most people make little effort to find out if they're paid less/more beforehand. Since men aren't at a risk to be paid less than their female collegues, even the non-sexist ones will be fine with either scenario. As for women, even though there may be many lawsuits, in reality, only a minority starts caring when they do find out they're paid less. Rabid sexists/feminists, on the other hand, are likelier to investigate beforehand, since this is an issue they attach a lot of value to. And insist on their specific choice, landing them in the better wages. Of course, there are always several factors at play. From my experience, people who dare to talk back on a job interview and have some demands of their own, get the better job/wages more often than the people who are desperate for it. And that is definitely a matter of (showing) confidence.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
NoMoreDead, I recognise your situation and frustration, but I'm afraid there's not a thing you can do about it. You could try to talk with either or both of them and make them see their error, but chances are this will only backfire on yourself. Basic lesson, never meddle in a couple, you're the one who's gonna get wounded, not the couple. Your friend is obviously on the rebound. It's painful, but for some of us, it's a necessary step for acceptance and moving on. She can't stand being alone, so she just hops from relationship to relationship. Both are very typical behaviour patterns, and it's frustrating to be the outsider who recognises them. I agree with you that this relationship of theirs is going to end. But not necessarily in misery, it might just as well help them both (especially your friend) to move on. As for the two of them sleeping together, it's not definite that your friend will grow so very attached to her. Love and lust are quite different, as he'll be about to discover. It might be a shame, but all of us piece our lives together with or through our mistakes... If he's really your friend, just be there for him. Maybe voice your concerns, but don't ever say "you should" or "you shouldn't". Should they stay together, he'll always know you were the one who thought she wasn't good enough. As for her, ignore the girl. She doesn't sound like a friend at all, or not anymore, in any case. I wouldn't suggest to get angry with her, or to tell her off, or anything like that. Just be cool, but ever polite and correct. Women hate that. In any case, don't let her use you and don't let her get to you either. I hope this makes sense :-).

Might as well not have sound (Mining rant)
I've wondered about that as well... Some randoms have sounds, some don't. Doesn't seem logical at all. Gods, how many bird nests have I missed while woodcutting... Working with split screens, like Shazarabbit suggests, is a great solution. You can still read and not miss a thing on RS. But still... how many months ago did Jagex announce they were going to drop the randoms? By the by, this whining about 'bad' or 'stupid' rants was old years ago. It's even more boring to read than the bad rant itself and no, it doesn't make you look smart.

Collections thread!
Books/DVD's. Nor nearly as impressive as Daan's (oh my, drooling over here), but my collection is bulging off the shelves as well, mostly books though, plus around 150 dvd's... Not an inch of space left, and I've already filled more than two bookcases :-(. They really need to design more DVD-friendly bookcases.

Favourite Skill? (Non Combat)
Farming/herblore Agility Recently taken a liking to woodcutting, but only because it allows me to indulge in my newly rediscovered love for books and still work on a skill.

Do You LOL IRL?
I don't use the word "lol", but that would be pretty odd anyway, since in Dutch it is already an existing word, meaning "fun". Well, at least the two meanings have a connection to each other, so I guess that it is not unthinkable people would use it. It is an interesting concept, though... if you say lol instead of actually laughing, you're not doing what you say you're doing. So you're projecting your internet behaviour (indicating that you think something's funny, even though you're usually not *really* laughing out loud) on real life behaviour, instead of the other way around.

Men With Sexist Views Earn More
I read about this in the paper, and the journalist pointed out that the same goes for women who have feminist views (they earn more than the working girls who don't). I think it's simpler than assuming sexists have a controlling/confident character. The trait both feminists and sexists share is a firm belief in their often not so easily accepted views, which might mean that they will insist to get the treatment they prefer. A sexist will insist on earning more than his female collegue, whereas a feminist will not work for a company that doesn't pay equal wages. The non-sexists and non-feminists will probably care less about this issue. No?

Peace Day
Aye, Meol is hitting the nail by its head. Days like this initiative are meant to give visibility to a certain problem and to promote the many ways of fighting against it. It's a good way of informing people, celebrating good practices and getting the press to give some attention to the issue. I have trouble with this "I'm already being nice every day, so I'm better anyway and couldn't learn a thing from this"-attitude. We do the same with all festivities, do we not? Or do you guys want to skip your 18th birthdays too, since you're going to be 18 for a whole year after all?

Catholic Church says Evolutionism is Compatible with Bible.
I'm not so very amazed to read this. The catholic church has invested a lot during the centuries to give and promote education and to sustain scientific research. Some of the best universities in Europe are catholic universities that have been around for hundreds of years. No matter if we like it or not, the church has played an indispensable in our quest for and gain of knowledge from before the medieval times.

Do you like to doodle?
Aren't doodles the meaningless curls and patterns people make unconsciously rather than full-blown "I'm bored" drawings? I could be wrong. Anyway, I doodle a lot, usually when I'm on the phone at work. I always start by writing down the caller's name on a sheet of paper, which usually turns into a gigantic doodle as the call progresses. It helps me concentrate on the conversation. I also doodle during boring meetings. Keeps my hands from drumming my fingers, playing with my pen and other annoying behaviour I display when bored.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Cup_Lion, you did just break up with her after a longish relationship. You didn't really tell us how she felt about that, but chances are this was a blow to her. If she feels hurt, she'll want to avoid you for a while to lick her wounds and figure things out. No girl wants to hear that their boyfriend doesn't feel like he can be himself around her... and it appears that your main problem is that you've simply fallen out of love with her (no physical attraction). Another thing that no girl ever wants to hear... So, give it a little time, show her you still want her around after a few days and let her decide how to go on now.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
Still, you're the one who started the whole thing all over again by having another dig at Zierro after the very oddly timed reviving post by 'Califobia'. I'm getting a whiff of troll, here, frankly. Rants are for venting, yes, but also for having a nice discussion and a debate. You post rants here so people can react to them, and agree or show different sides to the issue. That means that if you don't want to be talked back to, you should buy a diary. Right, and this is where I stop meddling. Except for: knock it off, the pair of ya. Ugh, I'm turning into my mother.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
Teehee, this is a funny thread. Seems pretty simple to me... Capes are meant to show (off) your skills. The harder to get stuff gets you more respect. All very childish and all, but still pretty natural. As for cape wearers being attention [ugly word]s. I'm with Zierro on this one. I always wear my cape because it's beautiful and it stands for rougly 2 years work on my most favourite skill. I don't need other people to congratulate me on it or respect me for it. I didn't get the cape for your amusement, but through my own. It's very sweet to tell me I've got a nice or a cool cape, but I already know that. So don't expect me to say "thanks" every single time and do the emote on command. Especially not since most people then reply with "Np", as if they did me some huge favour by telling me something I already know. The same goes for the cooking cape: if you're proud of it, wear it and ignore the stupid remarks. If you can't ignore them, you obviously care too much for what people think of you. Either get a tougher cape so you can play all famous with it, or start playing for yourself instead of for others.
