  1. This thread is depressing. All the best to Obama, he's got a lot of expectations to meet. One correction though: he's not a socialist, he's simply less right-winged than the average republican. But I guess that would be the definition of American socialism. But I can't deny that most Europeans are relieved to see a Democrat in the White House, even if McCain wasn't a replica of Bush. Oh, and someone talked about the American sacrifices in the World War. On a personal level, yes, many soldiers sacrificed their lives, families were torn. On a bigger economical and political level, WW 2 was the best thing that happened to America.
  2. Sumpta is short for Assumpta/Assunta, an Italian name that refers to the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary. I didn't choose it because of religious zest though, I just really like the name. Sadly, Sumpta was already taken on RS (though he/she never made it to the highscores, bleh). I added 13 because I didn't think I'd end up playing the game, I was just checking if its contents was okay for the kids to play (had a job at a computer centre). The 13 dates back from my first hotmailaccount that some American guy on a chat made for me. He chose 13 because of my big fascination for vampires at the time (I was 16 or so, so no, it didn't and doesn't refer to my age).
  3. Oookay. When a male of 23 1) engages in a long distance relationship 2) with a teenager of 15... no offense, but you may safely assume there's something very wrong with his maturity level at the very least. Seven years isn't a huge gap, but it is at your age. Combined with the factor of distance, I'd be very weary about him and not take this too fast at all.
  4. According to the law of natural selection, you should now sustain double wounds, because of: 1) doing something really, really stupid 2) going to the internet forum of an online game for advice on 1) I have the impression that you don't. Dang you, Darwin.
  5. Aww, do you hear that noise? It's the sound of my heart shattering into a million pieces.
  6. Nice trailer, though my hopes for this film are decreasing... Not sure if it's Romilda, but I've read he drools at a waitress at the beginning of the film as well. I don't remember Harry drooling over women in book 6, I thought he was pining over Ginny the whole time and face-palming while watching Ron with Lavender. Anyway. As with all the other films, it seems like they've taken the plot lines I don't particularly like and magnified them (GOF: petty argument between Ron/Harry & Ron/Hermione/Viktor triangle - OTP: angsty, angry Harry and now HBP: teenage romance) and dropped the stuff I really did like (I still keep hoping for more Snape screen time though).
  7. I work for the department policy against poverty of the federal service for social integration in my country. Might explain a lot to some of you ;).
  8. It would be if you'd walk instead of taking the car... The public transportations are going to ride anyway, with or without you. As for those people spending more energy than needed just for the sake of not remotely risking the danger of being accused to be "green" (e.g. leaving lights on when you're not even there)... Wow, okay, you're cool or something, so what.
  9. No reason to bring op morals, honour or anything like that. Skiller PK'ers bring balance and harmony in the RS world. By skilling on pvp, you can gain more. Stands to reason there are more risks involved to compensate. Those skillers you killed are, very simply put, sorry whiners. And this I can safely say while I've never PK'ed in my life and consider myself a skiller.
  10. An extra slayer monster at 95, with a great drop to reflect the awesomeness of 95 slayer. And to give another competitive moneymaking option than GWD for the high level combat players. Can't believe nobody said this one yet.
  11. Hehe, grin at the baron8000's post. I'm not a "green nazi", but I do most of the little things. Heating a few degrees lower, using long-life lamps, putting out the lights when I'm out, using ecological washing powders/cleaning products, recycling (obligatory anyway in Belgium), try to buy local foods, buy free range eggs, I buy green energy and hope to change to sun panels once I have a house of my own, sometimes buy second-hand clothing, drink tap water, reduce water usage, use public transport (didn't buy a car),... Every person who changes a bit of their behaviour and tries to inform others how simple it really can be (not to mention good for your wallet), helps.
  12. I'm also looking forward to the French worlds. Should be easier for me than the German ones I tried for a while, until I got too mixed up by the terminology. Was no fun getting a slayer task and then needing to change back to English to find out which monster I had been assigned ;). But it's true that "leet" French is very hard to understand. Whenever I see people speaking French on RS, it takes me a while to verify that it is indeed French... I don't think that a clan would make for much good practice.
  13. Have you actually ever tried it for more than 10 minutes or just took it as a universal truth from the others at w46, who for some reason or another seem to hate the Dorgeshkaan Guild? Even at 85 agility (with quite a few fails/hour) I easily got more experience/hour at Dorgeshkaan than at Ape Atoll. At 90 now, the xp rate is only going up. You at 99 should really notice a vast difference. Zarfot's excellent guide for some detailed numbers.
  14. Actually the no fail level at Ape Atoll is 75. But apart from that you are right about Dorgeshkaan, people think that because you may occasionally fail it's worse XP. It's not. Whoops, sorry for that, I'll correct that. Been a long time since I was 75 agility ;).
  15. Now this really is an opinion. I never found slayer boring... And I wouldn't even classify myself as combat-loving (that's more something for PK'ers en boss hunters). It may not be hard to train, but what skill is really hard in RS? You can't run one skill down on the premise that it isn't "hard" and leave the rest of the game out of it. Slayer's hard because it costs a lot of time and decent skills overall. As for the original question. Don't do slayer if you just want a lot of money, do slayer if you want slayer experience + a bit of money.
  16. The exact changing points depend a bit on what you like, but: 55-~70/75: Wilderness 70/75-85/90: Ape Atoll (no fail from 75+, thanks ToxicDuck for the correction) 85/90+: Dorgeshkaan There are a lot of prejudices against Dorgeshkaan and they are all WRONG. Just a bunch of hardcore Ape Atollers who prefer being monkeys because it's "fun" somehow. You owe it to yourself to at least try the place out and decide for yourself which course you like better.
  17. Same old discussion. Today I got up half an hour earlier than usual. For me, that's quite an achievement. I'm not going to whine all day at work because none of my colleages, who arrive easily an hour before me, thought it was "special" I was there half an hour earlier. Cooking, firemaking, fletching, thieving and what have you capes are definitely achievements, but they're not "special" anymore because so many people achieved getting them and getting even better ones. I have a fletching 99 and a slayer 99, sorry, but they're just not on the same level. That doesn't change the fact that the achievement capes really messed up our views on skilling, economy and RS gameplay in general though.
  18. I've recently planted over 400 watermelon seeds with super compost and using magic secateurs. Only two harvests had less than 15 melons.. Melon King! Hehe, then all farmers are. I'm very disappointed when I get less than 15 watermelons, which is very rare. Usually I harvest around 20, sometimes more, sometimes less. There's a reason why watermelon seeds are expensive: they're good experience.
  19. My post wasn't really directed at you, sorry if you thought it was, but surely you're aware there's plenty of people here who consider that non-optimal efficiency = fail. Merely the fact that someone felt the need to point out you don't have to pray on every single task, indicates that such a feeling rules amongst the masses, or at the least the self-proclaimed elite.
  20. Both tips are well-known, at least I knew about them. I tried the armour method for a while, but quite frankly, the building/tearing down is murder for your wrist. Extremely slow and painful. I wouldn't recommend it for getting high construction. Then again, I'm only at 72, so I shouldn't say much about it :.
  21. Makes me think too much of Monty Python. "Welease Woger!"
  22. Hard to tell... I'd suggest doing a trip with monks and a trip with prayer to check it out. But I'm guessing food would be best. They hit hard, but not very often and they drop food (entangled toad's legs, usually several at a time). For me, their food drops were enough to compensate, but my defense is a lot higher than yours, so don't take my word for it. Oh, you could always use the boosting prayers of course, but wouldn't pots be enough? I'm not a big fan of the boost prayers, but most disagree with me on that point, so...
  23. Pff, don't pray if you don't think it's necessary. I'm 99 slayer, got it before the piety hype, didn't use it on a single task, and I got there reasonably fast as well. Well, that's to say, I got there well before I got bored with the skill, and I know I'll return to slayer once I've gotten some of my other skilling goals. However, I'm nearly getting scared to return to the slaying grounds ever since everyone has such decided opinions on how to slay. What really kills me about this efficiency talk is that, apparently, if you aren't doing everything in your power to maximise your slayer experience and money stash, you're failing. You know, this attitude that slayer is a loss anyway, so best get it over with as fast as possible. I mean, what?
  24. Nothing to add, except to encourage you to do them. Those who skip them are wrong. Banking is easy, the tortoises are easy and their drops are worth it. Oh, bring some high alch runes to alch the mithril and rune drops. You'll find them quite profitable with the ores, tar, shells and rune picks they drop.
  25. I'm assuming there will be another parent, so I'd try to decide with him. I do love the name Eline (French pronounciation please, no e-line) for a girl and Anton for a boy though.
