  1. That's correct. Seaweed is just as good. And you get extra molten glass. So for 13 seaweed/sand you get between 15 to 20 molten glass. The most fantastic spell in the Lunar Book in my opinion.
  2. I also go to Chaeldar. The fairy rings are worth their weight in gold... But you can also reach Duradel through the fairy rings (a bit more walking though). However, Chaeldar gives assignments that are easier to handle in one go. I don't have Guthan's, so that's an important factor for me.
  3. I'm with the minority here: I liked the old one better. I still wear the thing wherever I go, spawning around 50 arrows a day. I guess the spawn rate of the old attractor was a bit crazy...
  4. First of all sir... if you had actually read the whole thing carefully you would have seen that; 1) I have not played runescape in a year, and im not going back. So no break needed! But thanks for your concern. 2) One of the first things i posted in my argument was, "Now im not trying to say that Runescape, which is indeed not real, (If you didnt know that somebody stopped paying the bill on your reality check, i know im hilarious) can be compared to the US Justice system." So i guess you just misread? I know its a severe analogy and never in my argument did i say that Runescape could possibly be as important as a life sentance in jail or anything real. No hard feelings, but you seem a bit one sided, you should have taken my advice on the bottom : I didn't misread. I did read it until the end, I make a point of reading more than the first three lines of a post :D. Your question (a "philosophical" one) is, ban more and have some innocents punished, or ban less and have more 'criminal behaviour'. What bothers me, is that in the original question you're talking about lives (murder; life sentence). In RS, it's about something as silly as an account. That makes the 'dilemma' a bit obsolete in my mind. Less poignant, relevant, there's a word for this but I've forgotten it :wall:. But maybe I'm just not involved enough or something. So I'll just shut up now and let the rest of Tip.It merrily answer your dilemma... And it's madam, by the way, not sir :-)
  5. What? You're comparing a life sentence in prison with a ban from a bunch of pixels? There's federal justice and then there's computergames. When you start comparing the two, well, then I feel you need to take a break from RS. It's scary that you could get innocently banned, I agree. But then again, Jagex could just go broke overnight and your account would be lost all the same. Best not to get too emotionally attached to it, methinks.
  6. For heaven's sake, do you think Jagex would have listened to Strider if he hadn't made some valid points? And the other way around, Strider seems to really care about Jagex' opinion, he's updating the software as fast as he can, is he not? Looks like pretty decent communicating between two reasonable parties. Of course SS would give you an advantage, by containing calculators etc. But it's not an advantage to be felt in the game itself. It would spare me pencil, papers, calculators and a clog of browsers. I've taken a look at the website of SS, and it looks perfectly balanced, adult and trustworthy to me. And btw, I'm an avid fan of the rules implemented by Jagex; I would never want to break them. I wouldn't exactly be upset if SS weren't allowed anymore (since I've never used it before) - but if Jagex is OK with it, I don't see why I shouldn't try it out. Sure they disencourage it, because there are many malicious programs out there. Obviously, they don't feel SS is that. If this means more people are going to try out decent, trustworthy 3rd party programs instead of random crap they find on the net, this is a good deal for Jagex as well.
  7. That runner hat (doing clues in the wild) and ranger hat definitely have got my attention :D
  8. I have never tried SS. Quite frankly, from what I've read here, after it has been updated, I think I will give it a try. When I play RS, I always have another browser with Tip.It forum, Tip.it Site on some guide, world map, fairy rings map, calculator (sometimes 2), notepad and what have you open. It would be nice to see some of these things combined. I don't understand what is so terrible about the tool. However, Jagex really should put some time into exploring the fanmade stuff and endorse the good things. I don't see why they spend so much time on their knowledge bases, when they could just acknowledge some fan sites (e.g. by giving Fansite of the Month rewards or something like that). Even after the update, we will continue wondering if Jagex really is OK with SS. They will never do an official statement for this and we will never be really, exclusively sure, never ending this discussion. Jagex should work together with the fansites. This could only prove to be advantageous for both sides and the players, who would be guided away from the nasty keylogging stuff.
  9. The funny thing is that this will have the complete reverse effect. Instead of making 3d party cliens less popular, they have gotten so much attention now that they will be more popular. Especially SS has gotten quite some free advertisement...
  10. Very nice thread, though I will admit that I merely skimmed through it instead of reading everything, so don't shoot me if I'm saying things that have been said before, or worse, completely beside the point. I am all for the idea of a debate club. But enlighten me, what would be the difference from the suggestions forum? Splitting up the forum in even more subfora seems to me to be more confusing than less. And how will you maintain the level you'd want for this debate club? Moderating will be very high maintenance. Passing an IQ-test to be able to post, would make it undemocratic. Post count, let's not even go there. And making the minimum requirement of a post 10 lines of text isn't really possible either I guess... Edit: I like the analogy with the archive of wisdom as a solution to the problems I see. Oh and this may seem totally irrelevant and is probably due to the lateness of the hour (4.30 am here, that's gonna hurt tomorrow morning), but when I read the name of the topic with the rants guide, I had to think of the quote from Pirates of the Caribbean: "the Code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner."
  11. I used to use them on runecrafting, but they get all my tears as well, so these days, it's construction. I'm aiming to get it to 70 by building mith armour stands and tearing them down again. A tedious process, so every bit of extra XP is very welcome.
  12. Crafting guild, if you have access to the balloons. One space for a log and a ring of dueling in your ring spot for easy tele to CW, where you can take the balloon.
  13. Looking at my own stats, I'd say fletching. I've gotten to 94 so far without really trying (just fletching the maple logs I get from MTK 'cos I don't like merchanting and I don't want them stuck in the bank either). I don't put much value in those capes anyway. I have the quest one, but I only wear it when I do combat, because it's a cheaper alternative for the obby cape. The rest of the time I wear my wonderful Ava's Attractor. As for the whole discussion why we respect 99's, well, of course in a sense it's ridiculous to respect people who mindlessly click away. But then again, we are all playing this game and it's typical of games that you get involved in them. We all like to win the game, show that we're good at it. Isn't that the whole point of playing? If you're not involved enough to see that, well, frankly, I wonder why you're even still playing.
  14. I've had a total of 8. Seven have been planted so far. Still have to get to moonclan island to get the tooth to pay for my most recent spirit seed :). The xp of that tree should bring me to 83 farming, so I can finally ditch the garden pies I'm keeping in my bank.
  15. It's a neat thing. I've collected more than 2k steel arrows so far, while farming, training agility and pc. In combination with boots of lightness, you can even out the extra weight as well.
  16. I'm not a huge fan of PC myself, although I did set myself the goal of 500 points to get my mage up to superglass make level (don't ask - cash troubles and mage aversion make a bad combination). It has been a horrid time and I'm really counting down the last few points (20 to go). I hate the constant changing of worlds. I hate doing the same mind numbing routine over and over again. I hate the people calling each other noob and ordering each other to leave the boat. I hate the people ordering me to kill spinners they're standing next to. I hate the people who just stand around after their 50 points, or killing monsters they shouldn't, when in some games, I run around and help to bring down 3 or even all 4 portals. I guess I'm not much of a group person. Give me slayer tasks any time. (Sorry for the whining.)
  17. I like farming a lot. I'd never have gotten so far with herblore (76) if it wasn't for farming (82 now). And farming is ridiculously easy to get up if you use manage thy kingdom.
  18. Doubt it. The people who buy steel arrows are usually people who just don't want to spend time (the fletch lvl to get them yourself isn't that high after all). I don't think those same people are willing to run around for hours with a backpack for a few hundred arrows.
  19. No, you were very clear... you just got me into imagining random stuff. Wasn't meant as a criticism at all, if you thought it was, my sincere apologies :-)
  20. We're doing the whole Christmas thing on Christmas Eve and during the day on Christmas. In the evening, I'll be back at my house and quietly spend the rest of my day there, giving my stomach a chance to regain its balance. So playing RS is a definite possibility. Everything that requires no brain stimulation will be.
  21. Off-topic and a bit random, but I would just love to see the first "goblin pure", who got combat 126 by killing goblins only. He could call himself... Goblin_slayer! (Or alternatively: Complete_Nerd, but hey)
  22. I've had only one task of these. Had to kill 13. After 6 of them, I gave up and actually changed task. To give you an idea of my 'irritating monster' resilience: I never ever skip Metal Dragons, Aberrant Spectres or Infernal Mages. I hate Wyverns with a passion. They are slow to kill, hit a lot and drop junk, unless you get really lucky. First time you go there, I'd suggest to take the shield just in case you run out of prayer.
  23. It's a sad world if people should be punished for trusting someone else. Yes, it wasn't very smart, pretty stupid actually. But stupidity, like trust, is not something that people should be punished for. I mean, that's like punishing a man with a wooden leg for not being able to run a marathon or putting that robbing from old ladies is perfectly OK, 'cos they shouldn't combine bad running skills with high heels and a huge purse. So, yes, it wasn't a smart move. Yes, your friend should have seen the scam coming, but it still does not excuse the scammer in any way.
  24. Variation is the best diet. Eath both apples and oranges. The non-combat skills support the combat skills (and often also the other way around: slayer gets you herbs, seeds e.g.). They are both inseparable parts of the intricate web that is called gameplay.
  25. None. Boo. Given a few. Frequently got the answer: "wtf is hyt? freak! noob!" Double boo. Stopped hyt'ing altogether.
