  1. 1) October isn't over yet. 2) High levels deserve some updates according to their abilities as well. 3) Now you can set yourself some lofty goals. 4) There's plenty to do even without the updates. 5) The new potion is great for both herbloer training and combat and is definitely low level.
  2. Oh My God, I hear u, friend, the flappy things at are just horrible, but other than that, they're awsome :D Weird. I love the 'flappy thing' I dont like them either, at least if we're talking about those blue flappy things on the shoulders which make you look like you stumbled straight from the 80's. Incidentally a period which is not known for its impeccable taste... Other than that, I love love love the cape.
  3. Search and you shall find... there's a great guide in the Archive of Wisdom: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=538066
  4. It's impossible to get 1k tix in 3 hours. The tag chances every minute... so you need at least 1000 minutes to get 1000 tickets, which equals 16,66 hours. Ape Atoll is the fastest method. The arena the most diversified one (but also frustrating if you fail). Go with Ape Atoll and just work towards one level at a time...
  5. Tomatoes/apples: chest in Lumbridge from Recipe for Disaster - if you don't have access yet, just start the quest... the more parts you do, the more supplies you get (up to a stock of 50!) Pineapples/bananas: pick them in brimhaven/karamja or buy them from those guys on the docks of catherby/brimhaven/... Another great place to buy supplies (like oranges, I think, not sure, I farm them) is in the food shops of the Grand Tree (Gnome town, not the maze). And of course, you farm a lot of the stuff as well... sweetcorn, strawberries, watermelons...
  6. +1 =D> I thought I was addicted to RS, but at least my happiness in life and my appreciation of the game do not depend on the weekly/monthly updates. I can't believe everybody thought they'd release the capes as the first update after the Behind the Scenes. Come on!
  7. At blue drags... I had just left the safespot to pick up hide/bones. When I got back on, I had 14 or so hp left. I didn't have very valuable stuff on me (total of 600k or so and I would have gotten the three most valuable items). But my heart, my heart...
  8. You're very welcome. Yay, I got credited. I feel so grown-up now!
  9. 70+ Why? 1) total levels rock 2) set yourself attainable goals... 99 smithing equals months of stubborn dedication, you might get discouraged 3) go for variation: when you get bored with one skill, you can hop to the next 4) by doing the other skills, you can earn the cash to make the road to 99 smithing easier (woodcutting, fishing, etc) I myself am going for 70+ in all skills... only 4 left to go (argh, runecrafting).
  10. Level 72 is almost 1 mill xp. You need more than 2 mill xp. Sooo, do a rough estimate of the time it took you to get 72 slayer and multiply that time by two. Should give you an idea :) Of course, this is a very rough estimate: you get more combat levels while training, speeding up the process a bit.
  11. I got many thieving levels down there (I'm 83 now) and hundreds of gems. Nice guide. As for a lower failing rate at higher thieving levels: I've been there with people who had level 60 thieving or so and they did seem to get hit more often... Some comments though: - You do not need to use the stethoscope with the safe. Just keep it in your inventory. Tests have been run before and some stated that using the stethoscope with the safe every time actually yields worse results. Not to mention the time it takes... - You don't have to swap safes everytime you triggered the trap. Just stay in place and loot away. I never felt that with the trap triggered, my chances of success lowered. And yet again, the running around slows you down. Maybe you could also add a pro/con comparison with knights to give people an idea of what to expect. Pro: you don't have to move around, you don't need to right-click, you get access to easy crafting xp, there's a bank nearby... Con: you can be hit higher (up to 6hp), it's slower, you have less consistency in your loot (with a measly 10 gp as absolute low).
  12. If you have accesss to the elf lands, go there. There is a spot there that respawns really fast. And except for the occasional trap, you don't have to worry about dying to a red dragon or a bloodthirsty PK'er. If you have the level, you can also farm them. I have a bush on Miscellania that I pick everyday. Have to go there to bring my percentage up anyway.
  13. It's mainly luck. Agility hardly comes into it. I had 70 agility. You'd think that should be enough, right? I kept running, had negative weight etc etc and I fell... 15 times or so. Blech.
  14. Blue dragonhide bodies... :3> Just crafted and alched 120 of them... oooh the lovely money...

    70 range

I had the same goal (almost there) and I went for iron knives and slayer tasks such as lessers. Ogres sound like a great idea as well. I've also gone up a level or two using iron knives on black knights to get some of the white armour (gloves/boots), but I'm not sure whether I'd recommend the strategy :)
  16. Buy gold ores, smelt gold with gold gloves (from Family Crest). Gives 56,5 xp/bar, which is more than mith (and a lot less hassle). Many 99 smithers have gone through this process (and ended up with 20k+ gold bars :?)
  17. I usually take a ddp++ as well, to get in 4 poisoned stabs before I switch to whip. I don't bother with prayer-boosting gear either. If the games are so long that my prayer runs out before the end, I know it's time to hop worlds :)
  18. Which is, incidentally, true of all the skills, unbuyable or not, if you think about it. The ultimate unbuyable skill is often said to be agility. But you have agility potions and (super) energy potions to speed up the process. Excellent food will help you to thieve more efficiently. Fishing pots will aid in fishing. Sooooo, ultimately, according to this reasoning, money plays its part in every single skill! (I still think agility, thieving and slayer are the most impressive 99 skills. But then again, I'm also getting tired of the cape discussions. I hope the update will be soon...)
  19. Ourg bones are ancient (z)ogre bones. You need to complete the zogre flesh eater quest. Then you have to kill zogres by ranging them with brutal arrows. The zogres drop keys. The keys unlock graves. Ancient bones (faygr, raurg and ourg) are semi-rare drops from the graves. You can also try to picklock them, but that's even slower... Ourg bones cost around 8k to 10k a bone... hardly anybody sells them and you'll find even less buyers :) Like the person before me said, you're much better off going for dragon bones. However, if you are in need of some range training, you might want to try your luck. Next to some ancient bones, you get loads of Zogre bones, they give more prayer xp than big bones (22.5 if I'm not mistaken).
  20. I'm not too bothered about the capes. Sure, you can show off your skills. But the fact remains that it isn't that worthwhile to get 99 in a number of skills (herblore, agility, farming, fletching, thieving), since most extra's stop at 80-85. The capes certainly won't drive me to aim for 99's all of a sudden. I would be very proud of either 99 agility or 99 thieving though... But I'll stick with the quest cape, I guess.
  21. Well, I have now completed all the quests and without a shred of doubt I can say: Mourning's End part 2. Even with the help of a guide, it was a hellish job. But I liked the quest a lot better than DT, which was basically a "who can pound the hardest" assignment. I really liked the puzzle aspect (but thank Tip.It that there was a guide to turn to when I was stuck ).
  22. Storage in our house!!! Yes! Pity I tossed out most of my costumes already. I love the idea of the capes as well... great incentive to complete the last quest on my list (ME pt 2) and the new quest... but ermm... what happens every time they release a new quest? Your cape disappears and you get a new one once you complete the latest quest? :D Edit: just thought of the most likely answer: you just can't wear it anymore till you finish the quest... yeaaah speak first and then think a bit, quite my style.
  23. Up until now, Monkey Madness. My god, no one can ever be really prepared for the horror of that maze the first time. :wall: But I still have to do the three 'master' quests. I did recipe for disaster up until the part where you need DT. Found RfD enjoyable up till now, especially because I haven't done the subquests in one long run, but separately and in between other stuff. I'm gonna try DT this weekend... exciting! And Mourning's End part 2... I don't know if I'll ever find the courage to finish that one. Gonna have a look soon, though. I'd like to have all quests completed (only these 3 to go).
  24. I was worried at first about the run button, but I got used to it in no time whatsoever. Good job, Jagex. But, I am a nag and I will complain: it's a pity you can't instantly see your weight. I used to check that all the time, one of my compulsions :) (Uhh, and yeah, I'm female... would that have anything to do with it? *grin*)
  25. 980 tickets. Bronze after two kills. Then I had to wait 350 tokens to move onto iron. Then another 350 for steel. Black, mithril and addy within 100 tokens. And the rest till rune. I was quite happy, I didn't want to spend more than one night getting that rune defender. I'm now gonna spend the rest of my tokens (about 250, don't want them to clog up my bank) in the hopes of getting a spare rune defender.
