  1. It'd make sense to me to have them f2p, simply because the Wilderness is so popular in f2p. In f2p, they'd be used a lot more for the goal for which they were intended. The p2p wilderness is usually quite empty... I travel around in the wild a few times a week for treasure trails. at first, I was deadly nervous about it, these days, I happily trot around in the deepest wild. It's been weeks since I saw someone, let alone got attacked.
  2. A Suqah tooth is also one of the needed things to have a farmer look after your Spirit Tree.
  3. I can't believe all this negativity... For heaven's sake, it's a quest. The gameplay does not hinge on quests. Never has, as far as I am aware, like it or not. Why is everybody always setting so much store in the updates? Quit expecting all these grand things, you're just bound to be disappointed. Edit: read the posts above, and I agree with Wakka. Jagex does give good high level updates, a few times a year. Sadly, people seem to forget all about them after a week, few weeks at the most. It cannot be easy to juggle between the needs of your loyal long time and high leveled players and the masses of mid-level new blood. Jagex does deserve some respect and understanding for this constant balancing problem. When I was catching up doing all the quests when I became a member, I remember looking for the quests with a good RC reward. I was pretty happy with the 8k xp now, as it got me another level in my most dreaded skill. Don't like it, don't do it.
  4. Ouch man, that's what I'd call... BUSTED! My old teenage angst filled diaries just pale compared to this...
  5. I really like this one, as I have often considered this myself. I cannot claim to know whether ot not god exists, but I can acknowledge the worth of morals, whether they originate from/are bound to religion or not. I try to live by my own moral principles and be a goodish kind of person. Due to my upbringing, these are mostly catholic morals... the ones that make sense to me, I incorporate in my life. I cannot imagine any god condemning me for that, as long as they somewhat coincide with his/her idea of a good life. On the other hand, God's wrath for the man who claims to follow His word, but in fact only gives a hypocritical semblance, is said to be unmeasurable...
  6. Oh no, here we go again. I was already tossed out of the last thread by the same author, who went all nihilist and "whaaa what a useless life, death is easy, aren't I so wise and smart and cool and aloof for thinking all this 'controversial' stuff out, you lowly consuming creatures, bow to my ultimate philosophical blabber" because I was a so-called idiot, but really, I do need to say this. 1) I went through a similar stage some ten years ago. 2) I am so glad that only some private diaries can witness that shameful but necessary period in my life, and that there wasn't an Internet board for me to make a fool of myself for the whole world to see
  7. Hmm... Have a nice lie in, but not too late. Wake up all refreshed, jump out of bed to find out it's a glorious summer day, wonderfully scented, not too hot. Dress up all nice, have breakfast/brunch in the park/on a town square with a good friend. After that, me and my friend would call on other friends all over town and try to get them to join. Go to the park together with those who have the time and eat icecream and do every funny notion that we can think of to do. Just generally waste away time. Next have a nice, quiet dinner on a sunny terrace with that one ex I so foolishly took a fancy to once upon a time. Knock him out with all my splendrousness and have some nice, witty banter and a good conversation with him over a bottle of wine, into the early hours, making us both secretly wish things had turned out differently. Sweet suffering... Alternatively, have a nice dinner with someone I recently took a fancy to and do all of the above with said person. And maybe get the sweetest goodnight kiss, so I can dance my way back home and dream of all the things yet to come... Yet another form of sweet, stomach-jumping suffering! Mmmmmmm! L'amour courtois is so underrated.
  8. 1 million tanned blue dragonhides... craft 333.333 bodies... alch them 5.6 k each. 99 magic, 99 crafting (and first place in the highscores) and enough cash (1.866.664.800 gp!) to sail through the rest of the game.
  9. 10. I am so unbelievably glad that I outgrew teenagerhood and do not have to derive my personality from a group or be pinned down into one by others :-s.
  11. Pretty empty actually. I'm getting close to some long time goals (81 herblore, 80 crafting, got 85 farming (got 86 now)). They were mythical to me, because they represent what I will be able to do (make my 2k bird's nests into sara brews, craft my 25 dragonstones into amulets, plant torstols). I don't really see a point in training them very far beyond those numbers. On the other hand, I'll be getting 99 fletching soon, and that will be a relief: one stat that will never need perfecting afterwards. (No, I'll never be so crazy as to go for max xp goals...) So... empty/relieved. Yikes.
  12. You haven't really tasted chocolate until you've had some pieces of the best Belgian chocolate... Seriously, I can't imagine life without C̮̫̉̉te d'Or. It's the average Belgian's favourite and daily use chocolate. Lately, I'm also a big fan of krupuk and all of these fruits... almost summer, yum!
  13. I like the emote of the cape. Horrid colour though... In any case, everyone who is disrespecting the cape, obviously hasn't spent a few hours doing the skill. It requires your full attention, it requires money and quite a lot of time. As for the idea that everyone is getting the cape: at this moment exactly 1600 people have 99, 1985 people have 95. That makes a lot of people who are still very far from the cape! I myself will be getting the 99 (not sure whether I'll buy the cape), simply because of manage thy kingdom. I get a steady supply of 5k maples a week and I'm not a fan of merchanting. Soon I'll get 99 fletching off them, next I'll be burning them till 99 eventually... Why not?
  14. Your topic title shows me what I dislike so badly about some Americans. It is always black and white. Don't like the right-wing government? You're a dirty communist!!! Are you against the war? You're a coward! Question some of the choices made by the government? You filthy intellectualist! Everything is so polarised. "If you're not with us, you're against us" -> what the?? Criticise, question and generally show you like to think about things instead of just accepting them... and within the blink of an eye, you are a "hater". I don't hate America at all. It's a beautiful country and there are lots of good things to be said about it. However, there are also a lot of bad things to be said (which have been adequately pointed out already, so I'm not going to repeat them).
  15. Some university degrees are so general and theoretical that they don't lead to a clear career path, e.g. philosophy, history,... I have a master's degree in Germanic languages/literature and my only real career option is to teach. I don't want to teach, never did, but that doesn't mean I made a stupid choice in studies. And it definitely doesn't mean I'm not smart either. As for the original question: have a career counselor give you some advice. They look into all the options with you and help you find out what your abilities are, together with your strong points/weak points. If marketing is not really your thing, you could let the counselor help you decide on some additional schooling that suits you better.
  16. Sumpta

    Best Country?

I'm okay with Belgium. As long as the right-wing party doesn't get to govern, in any case. I just can't imagine life without our chocolate. Seriously.
  17. None of the kids that they actually put in the film... you don't know what they cut out. People always seem to forget that what is given to you on film, tv, is always manipulated to be able to construct a story. I'm not saying that that is bad in se, I'd rather not watch a documentary on e.g. lions and have to struggle through the hours tape when the crew was looking for one without success, but it is a given with the media. But yes, very off-topic :)
  18. Regrets are part of life. My dearest wish is to live my life to the fullest. That means highs, lows, good choices, bad choices. In the end I think you just have to have faith that things just go the way they are meant to go. So I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe a bit weird, but sometimes I comfort myself with the idea of alternative universes. When I broke up with my first boyfriend (after 4 years) I comforted myself with the idea that somewhere in some place we shall grow old together... and that in another universe, we have never met and never will meet each other.
  19. Duck Soup by the Marx brothers. I try to get and see as many of old(er) films as I can; this was my first Marx Bros experience. I was a bit weirded out, you really do need to be in a slapstick kind of mood, but I really liked the way they took a go at dictatorship/government. The mirror scene is both very famous and very hilarious. That. Film. Rocks. Major. I must have seen it 10+ times by now and it still has me in stitches every time I watch it. It has me in stitches now just thinking about it. Cary Grant at his best...
  20. Make that a year of no lifing and 3 years of playing a few hours a day. Good luck to y'all anyway and remember to go outside from time to time or maybe add a real life goal to it to get some balance... (e.g. do fitness x hours/week, get certain grade, whatever) :)
  21. Not to fuel the fire, but I really wouldn't want to live in the USA. Because a semblance of democracy in my mind is even worse than an overt lack of it. Apart from that, I'd hate to live in a country at war. Dictatorships are awful, but I'd rather live in an open dictatorship than in a covert one. At least I wouldn't be lulled to sleep and actually try to escape or something. The American voting system, the two party system and the amount of cash needed by a presidential candidate make it extremely hard to get a president who excels in integrity and independence. Religion and economy are just too mixed up with politics to speak of a true democracy (in so far one can ever speak of "true" democracy obviously). It scares me. P.S. As for the obesity issue: I've read several articles regarding the incline in obesity in Europe, so it's not an American thing. It's a general problem in all the Western countries. There are more children with weight troubles, women's breasts are going to extreme cup sizes (which means the other areas of their bodies are getting fatter as well)... It's all over the news these days. Even though we have all this money, we don't invest in healthy food patterns.
  22. I liked the article a lot, probably because I recognised myself in what Ard wrote. It was interesting to see these kind of players linked to Guthix - I had never before considered that tears help you in maintaining the Guthan Balance. Tasting all aspects of the game would be typical of the Guthix kind of player. Non-exclusive, all-round and wise  My stats aren't quite as balanced as Ard's, but I do try to train combat and my other skills equally. Except for runecrafting, I just ignore the existence of that skill.
  23. I'm kinda high level, and I try to answer most people. Pointed out the Knowledge base to someone yesterday. His RS world suddenly widened by several miles. Whenever I get questions, I advise people to make use of player websites/forums, as that is where I myself learn everything about the game. Can't give them the names, though, as it could have me banned :? I don't respond to beggars, "(xxx) lvl?" (mining, fletching,... depending on what I'm doing), people who follow me and rude people who shamelessly take in the spot where I was mining/ranging/... Especially the last category is bound to get some snappish remarks. So to some, I'm a nice higher level, to others I'm stuck up. As with most high levels, hard to categorise.
  24. Whoa. I had no idea robin hats were worth 6 mill these days. I happily go out ranging with it every day without realising the possible loss if I die due to connection loss, a naughty gargoyle or a random... (Got mine through a clue, I'm a bit of a bum on the whole.) Oh well. Anyway, the arrival of so many more tt items has made the chances of getting a robin hood hat even lower, so it makes sense to me that they get more expensive. It doesn't make sense to me that people are willing to spend that kind of money on it, though.
