  1. Exactly. I took a test at the tender age of 5, together with a bunch of other tests to see if I'd be intelligent and most importantly mature enough to skip a year at school. They never disclosed any numbers to my parents, or if they did, my parents never disclosed them to me. The psychologists did say that it was highly advisable for me to skip a year or I might get into trouble (I was teaching myself how to read and count), that I would probably do well in school and be able to go to university if all went well. They had no certainties, because no matter how high your IQ is, it's what you do with your brains that counts in the end. Also, having a high IQ isn't necessarily a good thing, but oh well, since everybody likes to brag... I did partake in the National IQ test on television. It was great fun, but those aren't really numbers that count for anything. I scored 141, but then again, the whole of Flanders scored an average of 115. Not very likely, considering the average (100) and their voting behaviour .
  2. Well, I'm a bit in two minds about the matter. I visit museums of modern (and other) art wherever I go. For a while now, I've seen that conceptual art is very much in vogue amongst modern artists. I won't dispute that there are good pieces, but mainly the fact that you have to read a page of information before you can make heads or tails from the artwork sometimes annoys me. The art that I like stems from any period. It's art that speaks to me on a level that only art can. It makes me go warm, angry, whistful, cold to the bone, laugh, whatever. Both realistic and unrealistic art can do that, the rest (fascism, expertise, whatever you wish to call it) is immaterial to me. For example, I have a soft spot for both Jugendstil (neo-romanticism and more at the realistic end of the scope) as for the mocking artform Dada - the musem of modern art in Berlin has one of the finest dadaist collections, really a marvel. In any case, neutrality in art is neither possible, nor something to be wished for in my opinion. Art is by definition subjective. And objective art is by definition paradoxical. The closest that art has ever come to objectivism is in the art by Duchamp at the beginning of the 20th century and in the neo-realism of the sixties.
  3. Well, if you can ever get your hands on a b52 with absinthe (I tried them in Lisbon once), go for it! The recipe: 3 cl bailey's, 3 cl kahlua, 3 cl absinthe. Set the top absinthe layer on fire for a sec, drink in one sip and enjoy the blast... Another fantastic Portuguese drink is Ginja, made of cherries. The Portuguese drink them standing on the street out of little plastic cups to start their long nights. About 2 of them and you're in for a very cheerful night out. Any kind of cocktail is fun... 1/2 whiskey 1/2 amaretto is a blast to the senses as well. Specific advice, well, I don't know. Whiskey is great. I'm a girl, so I'm also a sucker for sweeter drinks like Amaretto, Baileys and fruit beers.
  4. uhhhh.... your strange if you think that, no joke. your kinda a jerk. go eat another steak you fat [developmentally delayed]. there is something about you that you have to hate. for me, i hate you just in general : Whoa whoa whoa. He explained what he meant and in many ways he was right. We always want to change ourselves, both physically and mentally, but our faults make us the person we are just as much as the good things do (if not more so). If I interpreted him correctly, that seems a more sound way of looking at things than whining about the things you'd like to see different. Aaaand I find people often like the things in me that I despise. The things I find most endearing in my friends and family usually aren't their best traits either :).
  5. Well I wouldn't bet. They're among the most expensive, they're not government payed for. Anything privatized will be exceptionally good. It's not a comparison one can make. One's public and payed by the government and one's private. Just like how a private school dominates a public one. Exactly. The good universities in the US are extremely expensive and mainly available to the wealthy. It's insanity that some students have to take a loan to pay for their studies. I went to Univerity nr 205 on the list - not bad eh? Subscription fee: 533 euro/year for the "normal" students, 80 euro/year for scholarship students whose parents have low incomes. Every single Belgian can attend this university, provided they have the brains and talent.
  6. Physically... hmm... umm. I could give you a list of things I don't like, but I don't think I'd change anything. Not that I'm miss universe material, but my looks make me me. Mentally... well, I wish I didn't combine so many extremes in my character. I resemble a walking paradox on every level and it's really tiring me out.
  7. A dress very similar to this one. I love love love 50's inspired dresses...
  8. I have 2 decks as well :D - they're fun. Rider Waite, of course, and the very beautiful Haindl deck. Sure, the future doesn't lie in a deck of cards, but I like using them when I'm feeling confused over something. They make you stand still and think about the questions you have. They face you with the reality of how you really feel in a way, which is a good thing for a person like me who rationalises... well... everything. By the way, I don't really agree with the one card reading with the two of cups. To me, two of cups is one of the most beautiful and promising cards when asking "will they or won't they". It might be a low number, but two is a significant number in a relationship. It shows promise and energy between the two. It almost always represents a blossoming relationship. Cups stand for love, but you seem to use a totally different interpretation of the cards? What method do you use?
  9. I prefer Nechryaels as well. Rune boots are very easy to sell and you're sure to get at least 1 pair per task. I've gotten 15 pairs so fair, not one whip. So if you want to be sure of a steady income, go Nechs. If you're looking for a jackpot, take your chances on abyssals. Sadly for me, ever since I got 85 slayer, I haven't had one Nechryael task (87 slayer now :().
  10. You could also say the one turns into a mindless, drooling idiot that smells and the other into an intelligent, independent and graceful loner with a lot of character. (Yeah, it's the arrival of the eternal cat lover, dog hater and vice versa discussion!)
  11. Those diagrams had me in stitches. So true! I've seen many guys try to pull the routine on me of becoming friends and then 'suddenly' wanting more, scaring the hell out of me. It's best to at least show you have something more in mind, even if you don't say it outright. Best not to say it outright, it shouldn't be too easy. It's also very true you can see when people belong together, really love each other or have the potential to become a strong couple. There's this kind of energy between them, it's almost tangible. It makes me all giddy to see this between people who aren't together yet, but you know that there's just no way they won't end up together.
  12. Seems a wee bit dramatic and overkill (no pun intended) if you ask me.
  13. Kittens? Nah, big cats! I could so envision me in Cleopatra-fashion with a tiger at my feet. Yeah, I do suffer from megalomania sometimes. Many of my friends know me as Empress Helena...
  14. I admire smart, sophisticated women, with an edge. They're not always beautiful in standard sort of way, but they have presence and a personality that shines through in their looks. Monica Belucci has been mentioned already. Grace Kelly... she radiates this sad, completely perfect and aloof beauty. Helena Bonham Carter: never one to care if she looks ugly or different in a film and she can pull of a very dramatic look with her pale skin and dark hair. Nicole Kidman, can't believe she hasn't been mentioned yet. She's just whoa.
  15. Oh my, seeing my name made me blush... Anyway, I'll answer the questions, but I'd like to emphasize that I always forget the people I like best. Who is your favorite person to discuss things with? Posts by Viktor, Rebdragon and Warri0r always draw my attention. They are trying to learn more and don't mind adjusting their views, I can really appreciate that attitude. Nadril and Bubsa get my vote for being able to make great points in a minimal and pleasant way, making me wish I could formulate my views like that. Who do you think would label themselves as your enemy, or beter yet, who do you strongly dislike on this board? I'm not much into the enemy thing, but I sure have gotten high blood pressure from some of the posts by fat_hobbit, or whatever his name is. Striker can rile me up, but in a funny way. If you could sit down with one person, and have a deep, philisophical conversation with them, who would it be? Gosh. Have to think some more about this one. I would love to sit down with How2pk with a notebook, however, to draw up a list of must-see films with him and then go crazy at Amazon. If TIF was "real-life", who would you consider to be your group of friends? Hmm. I don't feel I've been around this board long enough or gotten to know anybody well enough to consider them a real friend. Do you miss seeing anyone around? See the above, I haven't been here long enough to see people leave. Although, I do miss swampjedi, but I'm not sure if he participated much here (he did in the rants/debate section). If one person on this board were to become famous for doing something awesome for the world, or for maybe becoming a world leader, who do you think it would be? Ehm. I'll come back to ya later on this one
  16. BelgiÃÆÃâÃâë is the Flemish word for Belgium. (Walloon: La Belgique) Een Belg is a Belgian. (Walloon: un Belge) It's a bit of a surreal place, because of the constant struggle between the two regions, with Brussels in between. Instead of separating or fighting a civil war, we have three governments to regulate a country so small that you can drive from the one end to the other in a few hours.
  17. Hehe, since I'm a girl, I can admit to liking guys without any troubles, so I will share my favourites :D Johnny Depp. Alan Rickman in his slightly younger days. That voice makes me forget every feminist inclination. Sigh.
  18. True. They might have moved the release a bit forward because of the huge pressure on the slayer spots with all the people rushing to 90 slayer. I hope it'll cool down fast now, I'm intending to go far beyond 90 slayer.
  19. Mmm, I can't help but wonder how long it'll take until Jagex nerfs the specials. Still, looks cool. I'll be getting me such a bow in a months or two, when I hit 90 slayer :D
  20. Brownish in winter, blondish in summer, blond after a long holiday in the sun/on the beach. But I'm not much of a beach person, so you might scratch that last one.
  21. A short trip to London to pick up the last Harry Potter and catch up some theatre productions and that might be it. I had scheduled to have 5 weeks of blissfull holidays, but I'll be starting a new job this summer, so byebye 5 weeks. Boohoo. Oh well, I'm saving to buy a house anyway, so yeah. *sigh*
  22. I case anybody cares, which I highly doubt: from grey to blue, depending on what I wear and the light.
  23. Actually, there's a huge debate to extend the possibility of euthanasia to children. There is a legal option for euthanasia here, but only for adults. And just to be clear, it's not to kill of mentally ill children, it's to help mortally ill and suffering children... I mean it's not like "Hey, I feel like dying today, let's visit the doctor and ask for a nice electrocution". This debate is mainly Belgian, by the way, not Dutch. But since the right-wing conservative separatist parties have had a huge electorial victory yesterday, I fear we can shelve the whole discussion in favour of -oh boy- yet another state reform. With your European political interest, Viktor, I suggest watching this for a while... it's gonna be an interesting few political months here and the outcome will define the future or death of Belgium as a state. Bah.
  24. Relax. Things never work out the way you plan them anyway. Just let life take you along for its ride and try to provide some of the keys to the doors on your way (e.g. a diploma).
  25. Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna get me that box :). Oh and To Be or Not to Be! How could I have forgotten it on my list! "So they call me concentration camp Erhardt?" Pure, pure genius. I know I sound like an old fart, but they just don't make 'em like that anymore.
