  1. I already do this with the super antipoison potion at near the observatory, but I'll definitely put it into the guide. Keep those tips and rates coming along.
  2. It would be like the upgraded version of curse I suppose. Good find
  3. I'm planning on making a magic training guide comparing and summarizing all of the main methods to training magic, F2P and P2P. I'll be sourcing a lot of existing guides, but I need some external input to confirm the data. Ok, so really it would be much of a guide so much as it will be a reference thread, but I still need some help in making it. I'm just so tired of seeing the forums filled with repetitive "what do I alch 4 best profit???" and "Best mage xp from level X to level Y?" and want to put it all to rest with a go to guide. So what I need are people to post rates at which the following spells and methods can be cast/performed: F2P/P2P Superheat Item Alching Fail Cursing Falador Teleports (Or any other teleport, I'll modify XP rates accordingly) Telekinetic Grabbing Zammy Wines/Natures (Any other items worth grabbing?) Fire Striking (Not so much as spells should all be autocasting once every 2.4 seconds, but an actual trial would be nice) Crumble the Undead I have my own rates for FoG P2P Only Stringing Amulets Superglass Make Orb Charging (All types, but I think air and maybe earth are the only easily accessible ones) Plank Make Bursting BA Assaulting as a Mage (Do you get HP XP for this?) Humidify Diamond Bolt Enchantment Onyx Enchantment at MTA Please post rates that you have personally achieved yourself and avoid posting rates that you got from another guide (Posting the guides themselves would be appreciated though) unless you know them to be absolutely reliable. I'd also like any specific tips, tricks, and little things you notice during the process. Profit rates and XP rates I can work out myself, but if you have them that would be good too. I'm also open to any other methods that I missed here. And of course, when the guide comes out, full credit will be given where it is due. [hide=Contributors So far]troacctid -Base orb charge figures with Tbirds, suggestion of humidify -high alch multi-task tip mister_moocky -suggestion of fail stunning RayOxide -suggestion of onyx enchantment at MTA and diamond bolts mughinn -gold ore telegrab dfchester -nature telegrab purepure4774 -fire bolting drags w/ SC ilovecardj -rates for different ores of superheat -alching rates -lots of P2P rates gspbeetle -stunning at lumbridge dummies technique and rates -wind striking spiders -general spell rates bedman -bursting rates plus drops -diamond enchant rates walka92 -MTA enchant rates mrpadre -alch rates and autocast insights -superglass make estimates[/hide]
  4. Don't use fire strike, earth strike is just as good and cheaper. http://www.scape-xp.com/runescape-high-alchemy.html Put in the current prices of nature runes (248) and it shows you he profit made on each item. Currently nothing in f2p makes profit while high alching. And yes looking at the grand exchange it does seem the bars are starting to crash. But superheating is still profitable just mine the ore (: Why is Earth Strike just as good and cheaper? It maxes 2 damage below fire, and currently fire runes cost less than earth runes...well actually that doesn't matter because you'll be using the respective staff. I just leveled up to 52 magic after cursing about 250 times... :wall: Got too bored so I logged out. When I run out of the 1000 shots of bodies I bought, I'll probably go mining and superheating stuff. That is, if the prices of bars and stuff stabilize. Just go back to auto-failcasting like I posted and do random stuff online if you ever get bored. If you use FF, SplitPanel is a great add-on if you have a high resolution (Greater than 1280x1024)
  5. See my guide. It also references shade_bandyt's guide as mentioned above.
  6. Never played FoG, so are all runes free? Can I just run around spamming some high-xp ancient magics? Sinkhan's Quick and Dirty Guide to Auto-Failcasting FoG for Free Magic XP Steps 1. Get a full set of metal armour (Bronze is fine) and then any d vambs and any metal boots. 2. If using regular magic spells: Get a regular staff. Not a magical staff, not a elemental staff, not Zuriel's Staff. Just the plain old +4 magic staff. If using Ancients: Get an Ancient Staff 3. When hunting begin autocasting your best offensive spell (Highest Magic XP) Analysis of Methodology From new players to pures to poor people, FoG is commonly used to raise magic XP for cheap. However, they generally aim to kill their opponent when they are the hunter, which is their biggest mistake. Under the best case scenario, a player could have 99HP and use all of their bandages. At most, this is a mere 150 magic xp (XP in FoG is halved, unfortunately). This amounts to about the same XP as just 8 castings of Fire Blast, the best F2P spell. However, once you realize that most people don't have 99 HP and the whole autodamage system is in effect, it's much lower. The best thing to do then is to capitalize on your time hunting and failcast as many spells as you can, getting all of the base XP. Since you have remarkably low magic bonus, you'll pretty much never hit. You spend more time on casting - you don't have to be hunted as much or have to wait in the lobby as much. Rates Spells are cast once every 2.4 seconds. At 17.25 per casting of fire blast, this amounts to 25875XP per hour as a cyclic rate (I'm not sure what would be the correct term, so a I brought in something from automatic weapons  ) Actual rate will probably be closer to 20K-22K with the lobby wait time and hunted time. If you're P2P, this ramps up to 40500XP per hour if you cast Miasmic barrage  Pros -Free : -Requires minimal attention since you autocast and wait (I watch YT vids  ) -OK xp rates Cons -There are much more efficient methods of gaining magic xp out there (Fail Cursing, Superheating, Alching). However, these require much more attention -Wait time is a bit of a bother -Sometimes targets run away from you, but that shouldn't be much of a problem Conclusion This is an improvement upon basic FoG magic xp gains where one simply attempts to kill their opponent. It is by no means the most efficient method other there, but is excellent for those with VERY little money, have very low levels, or don't want to pay much attention to RS itself, but still want to gain magic xp.
  7. I don't know if this is applicable to different trees, but I've grown about 200 banana and orange trees and only had about 15 or so die with just supercompost.
  8. This. But I don't think you should play out FoG quite yet. You could auto-failcast instead of killing them. You have to realize that at the very most, someone could give you 75 extra xp if they have 99HP and used all the bandages (FoG xp is halved after all) Take into account that a large number of players simply don't have that high of an HP and the whole autodamage system in place, it's a much better strategy to keep them alive as long as possible so you can get the base XP of the spell. You'll spend more time getting XP and less time being hunted, waiting in the lobby etc. Instead, bring the WORST magical bonus you can (Any full set of metal armour + D vambs + Combat Boots), but bring a regular staff (NOT elemental, NOT magical) so you can autocast, but keep your magical bonus down. What you have now is almost 10 minutes worth of free water blasts, or 5 minutes worth of free cursing, but with little to no attention paid.
  9. See compfreak's post in this thread However, there are a few steps that I don't quite follow.
  10. It is pretty low, but my pure managed to get one after killing ~100 chickens. Just keep at the chickens. If anything, you'll get a huge amount of feathers that you can sell.
  11. Mazchna is easier to reach than Vannaka as long as you can use fairy rings and he's much closer to a bank. On top of that, a few of his tasks are in the slayer tower, which is super close. The tasks are remarkably easy, except for vampires which may take a tiny bit more time. 54 banshees go in a snap. I honestly think Maz tasks take much less time overall.
  12. My guess would to go back to the haunted mine, through the mine carts and everything and getting that glowing fungus, getting the key, then chiseling another chunk from the crystals. I suggest you drop trick to get a few so that you won't have to go through the entire arduous process again. I got 4 just after the quest :
  13. If the items are cheap enough, you can trade them to a friend who has some bank space so he/she can unnote them and trade right back. Yeah, but finding a friend at the right time with money on them can be a pain. ANYWAY: just read the guide that was posted above and saw that you can "remove as items" from the G.E. I may be a total noob for not knowing that, but I'm sure happy that I found it out! You're welcome :
  14. I'd say it's uncommonly seen because most people just don't want to wear it. If anything, I think there are more people with 99 thieving than most people think. Just check out the HS tables for thieving and you'll see why
  15. Auto-fail casting in FoG is an economical way to get the first 40ish mage levels. Wear full metal armour and like d vambs. Equip a regular staff (not elemental, not magical) and simply autocast your best offensive spell.
  16. All of my CB stats are in the 70s and I manage to do fine with 8 pineapple pizzas (So like 11 monks). I end up using 6 on average. No pray pots. Black dhide is totally useless. Not once has the mage missed me. My friend claims that with 94 mage and Karil's the mage still consistently hits him. Just use prossy as many people have suggested. You could use some offensive prayers throughout the fight with the extra pray bonus. As for a speccing weapon, I like to bring the ancient mace. Don't use it on Bork though. When he calls his ork legions, some of your pray pnts will have drained and the mace can restore a few of them by hitting the legions. Bring a combat potion or some other stat booster. CB potions are super cheap, but very effective.
  17. See my guide. shade_bandyt's guide is also referenced.
  18. Regen bracelet is pretty identical to addy gloves and together with rapid restore heals 4hp/minute. Ok then the Rune Gloves or higher are better then others. but the Regen braclet also cost 250k while the addy gloves only cost 50k? Addy gloves are a little less than 9-10k. :o Aren't rune gloves 5K ea?
  19. The rate posted there is if you're super concentrated and use efficient banking (Take out a certain amount of coal, then the mith, and then the rest of the coal. This positions the mithril near the superheat icon) There's always failed auto-casting in FoG
  20. Ok sorry let me rephrase that, its to only practical way to KO in f2p The corrupt dragon b-ax is *cough* 2.2mil I'm already to lvl 72 with superheat mith... Lolz. The d long is also just as powerful as the 2H and hits faster. It's probably one of the better choices for rich F2Pers. Anyway, outrageous items aside, rune 2H is the only practical way to do it, yes. As for superheating, it's somewhere around alch speed; it takes less time to cast, but you have to bank a lot and move your mouse. It's like 1000ish an hour, give or take 200.
  21. *cough* Corrupt dragon b-ax *cough*
  22. I'm assuming that if you really want to be effective at it, you'll need teleblock at 85 mage.

  24. A free method of training magic would be to auto-failcast combat spells in FoG. How do you auto-failcast in FoG? Get a full set of metal armour - any set will suffice - and a regular staff (Not magic staff, not elemental staff). Your goal is to minimize your magical attack bonus. Next, head over to Fist of Guthix in the wild, run through the mandatory tutorial, and then play. Once in game, if you're the hunted, just let them kill you ASAP. When you're the hunter, find your target and autocast your best spell. You're almost guaranteed to fail every spell, but that's a good thing. Once has to realize that even at 99 HP with the 5 bandages, the hunted can only give you an extra 75 magic XP (All xp is halved in this game). Take into account that they're probably not 99 HP and the fact that there's a consistent damage while they are hunted, this will amount to quite a bit less. So the most reasonable thing to do is to simply keep them alive and keep casting. It's things like that that make me wake up each morning. Just to clarify the xp doesn't have to be high, just a good amount. And what do you mean by this?
  25. Right now you're asking for almost an impossible combination of things. High XP and GP, close to a bank, safespots, AND uncrowded. On top of that, it's F2P so the options are really limited. If you want decent xp, level 27 minotaurs or zombies in the SoS are good options. Both can be crowded. Otherwise, safespot in the hill giant place and attack 3 giants at once (Alternate between each of them so they remain yours). You'll cheese off A LOT of people, but meh, oh well
