  1. It's not me, even though I look at this thread about 50 times a day, it seems... Maybe there are a few hundred other people who do what I do... I'm not sitting here refreshing it constantly... *takes hand off F5*
  2. My lessons are more practical than anything. I've learned a lot about economics from RS, how to identify and avoid when people are trying to rip you off, and other little money lessons I can apply to the real world. There are others, but I can't think of them at the moment. One thing I haven't learned is how to improve my short term memory.
  3. I say slayer, personally, since it's less repetitive than PC, and slayer can make you quite a bit of money (you can make a lot of money from slayer long before you reach 85).
  4. Updated, adding progress from yesterday and so far today. As mentioned, I'm working on an emote trail. Anyone have an addy square shield I can buy? Contact me in game if you do. And if I'm not online when you try to contact me, post here or PM me. Also, I'm making this an everything blog. Hopefully, that'll keep things more interesting. EDIT: Got the shield.
  5. Updated first post, bumping up to first page. I'm considering just making this a general blog for anything I happen to do/get done. Anyone think that's a better idea? Or should I make this purely a slayer blog?
  6. I'm in Al Kharid right now. If you want, I'll tan some hides for you. Not far to go for 99. Keep up the good work.
  7. That title made it sound like someone died. Well, it's true; I did. Some might laugh at me; I didn't die there with Guthans, Veracs, or any other really expensive items that will take forever to get back; I'm just financially challenged. Yesterday, I decided to try out Barrows with Ancients. First run went perfectly, except that I lost time trying to melee Karil (mage works much better at my levels), but other than that, it went perfectly. I did a run in 10 mintues, a personal record. I went back up the ladder, out of the crypt, and started again. This setup was my idea of how to camp at the Barrows on Ancients; I apparently overestimated the power of the blood spells and underestimated how often I'd need them. The next run is shakier. Karil's in the tunnels, so I know this isn't going to be good. I kill the melee brothers just fine, except for when I get to Dharok. He hits a 39 on me, but I survive and try to get my health back using the blood spells. I get some back, but then have to go into the tunnels. I finally get to the room with the puzzle door. Lo and behold, who shows up? Karil's bolts rip through me, and I panic. I try to sidestep, just through the wrong door. I realize I'm at the puzzle door. By the time I run to the door I came through, I die. I kept Karils bow, my whip (thank god, I almost went insane getting it), and mystic top. Now I just need to get back what I lost. The DDS was a big loss for me; it's an ancient relic from when 78 was a decent PC world. I have ~500 uncharged orbs in my bank, so I'll be on world 99 crafting fire battlestaves for a while. Once I buy another set of full rune and a couple sets of black dragonhide and full mystic, I'll go back to my true passion in the game: slayer. And I think I'll avoid the Barrows for a while. I'll try to remember to keep this up to date. If you want to see my progress and I haven't updated in a while, hassle me until I do. January 11, 2007 I spent the day enchanting orbs then making battlestaves. I made about 800k in profit, so I should be able to buy back everything I lost (and a few extras). I also gained two levels: magic (74) and crafting (66). At that, I decided to call it quits for the night. January 13, 2007 Forgot to update yesterday. I bought back all my armor, so I now have 2 sets of full rune, black d hide, and mystic. I've gone back to slayer, keeping a log of all assignments from here on out. Progress today: 1 Slayer level (61) 1 hp level (77) 1 Combat level (94) I'm currently in the middle of a 156 blue dragon task (my wish has been granted). January 14, 2007 Finished my blue dragon assignment, spent the rest of the night before I had to go to bed (school... ) crafting the hides and ecto'ing the bones. Still at 66 crafting, but I now have about 160 extra blue vambraces, and I have level 59 prayer now. I've decided to take a break from slayer. January 15, 2007 School was cancelled today (too much ice), so I'm here, skilling away. I'm currently burning all the maples in my bank from my kingdom, which should get me to 67 firemaking. Also, I'm on an emote treasure trail, and need an addy square shield. Anyone have one I could buy? EDIT: Got one. This is what I started from today. Here are my goals: Start/current/goal Prayer: 59/59/70 Herblore: 47/47/63 Thieving: 61/61/70 Construction: 50/50/70 Crafting: 66/66/70 Fletching: 73/73/80 Runecrafting: 54/54/65 Hunter: 53/53/71 Farming: 45/45/60 Mining: 70/70/85 Smithing: 64/64/85 Fishing: 70/70/80 Cooking: 72/72/90 Agility: 70/70/81 Slayer: 62/62/85 Firemaking: 62/66/70 Skill total: 1700 Whenever I reach a goal, I'll just set it higher. They may seem a little high, but I'll use that for inspiration; whenever I get bored, switch to another one, or when I lose motivation, see how many people are probably laughing at me for not getting anywhere or setting goals I won't reach. Currently working on firemaking, have enough maple logs for 67.
  8. Then I'll give you two places for them: Ice Cavern south of Rimmington (safest place), and Ice Plateau, level 48 wilderness (a bit dangerous, but more giants and a cosmic rune spawn). Of the two, I recommend the wilderness location, just be careful (I've only ever seen three other people there, but that was on f2p when I lost members). They're also on White Wolf Mountain, but I've never tried killing them there. You could try it, though.
  9. In case this might help at all, I used 1700 iron brutal arrows, which got my ranged to 68 (almost 69) from 67, and my prayer to 57 (almost 58) from 56, which I think is pretty good. You might want to put something in the guide about the amount of xp gained. I might be able to help if you need it.
  10. I think he already answered this, towards the end of the guide. When I get 85 mining (which might be a while into the future), I hope this area is still relatively abandoned because I'm sure to use this spot. You seemed to make a lot of money using this relatively quickly, so it looks like the perfect thing to do. Awesome guide. Well written, and quite informative. Good job.
  11. 45 by Dharok... ran out of prayer, forgot to sidestep, forgot to drink prayer potion... Other than that, I once got hit 29 by Ice Barrage while trying to leave the green dragons at level 35 wilderness...
  12. I already posted this, but it's 250-350 each. BTW, 53 hunting, and I definitely need some camo to catch these things. I seem to have a bit of trouble. I've done enough hunting for the day; 16-53 in about 24 hours has made me slightly sick of it for now. I'll look into this more later.
  13. dang i was hoping i could use those instead of a cannon for my ultimate goal of 99 mage 99 range 10 hp. another question how much are they. Regular chinchompas are about 200 each; red chinchompas are about 250-350 each.
  14. LOL. Four days ago I was 32 hunting. I realized what these things could do, how much money I'm spending, how much they're gonna be worth, and realized I gotta get to work on this skill. I'm training Hunter like a maniac to be able to catch them, too. Currently at 48 hunter, so only 5 to go. Also, I have a bit of a theory as to a great place to train using chinchompas. I haven't been there yet, but seeing as you can get melee xp at a very high rate there, it's multi combat, and the monsters are very close together (ancients close), I think that the xp using chinchompas would be insane. I'll save this for testing, and for when you create the group. Drop me a PM if you want to test it sooner. EDIT: 52 hunter at the moment. I'm taking a bit of a break from powertraining at orange salamanders. Should get 53 in no time.
  15. :-k Good question, but i beilve it will simply fall on the floor =p also, abotu lunar diplomacy: The quest allows you to unless some nice spells, and you obtain a ncie set of armor. i'd recommend it, but don't do the quest if your only doing it for the glass spell, cause you may not persue this hobby for long. I wouldn't do it just for the glass spell; some of the others look fun to play around with. When I get around to power training noncombat skills, this might come in handy.
  16. Congrats on 99 magic! (you're awesome, and I'm jealous) *looks at own magic stat* only about 12.2 million xp to go, though it's not my immediate goal... I have nothing original to say, so I'll stop here...
  17. I'm definitely going to use this guide. I need to get my ranged to 70 and my prayer to, well, I don't know, but I'm going to raise it as high as I can using this guide. I'm making 2.1k iron brutal arrows, going to bury all bones except Ourg bones, which I'm going to ecto. Currently 67 ranged and 56 prayer. When I use all my arrows, I'm going to post with my results. EDIT: corrected typo
  18. Quick question about the Superglass Make spell. On Tip.it, it says it makes 1.5x the number of sand and ash/seaweed into glass. If you don't have enough inventory space, what does it do with the rest of the glass? Also, should I get my magic from 71 to 74 and do Lunar Diplomacy (I have all the requirements) to use this method, or should I stick with making glass in Port Phasmatys?
  19. Magic sounds like Retribution; range makes no sound. I've seen it mentioned quite a few times; it might be in either of Muggi's guides (I think it's in the w/o defense one)
  20. Take a look at my post count. I lurk. No one knows me, I'm not at events, I'm rarely on world 99. I'm not famous in any way. Too antisocial, like others who have posted here. I'll make a name for myself eventually. It'll just take a bit more hero-worship of Axe Man Jack, Leesters, and Trojann2 (to name a few) to get me motivated to do great things (like world domination).
  21. I have an addiction to thieving. I've stolen from the master farmers for hours at a time, and now I plan on thieving from knights almost nonstop until I get level 70. Call me a kleptomaniac. I probably am.
  22. Sign me up. I'm sure I'd be able to find something for you to do.
  23. Is it just me, or does that not make sense? I don't claim to be an expert at economics, but prices would go up with a large amount of new players joining. If there are a couple thousand more people suddenly joining, then in a couple months, those couple thousand people will want full rune. I agree with that. However, at the same time, that would raise demand, which raises prices. The more people want something, the more they'll be willing to pay for it. And since the number of sets of full rune probably won't go up at the same rate as the players join, the supply won't go up at the same rate. And, since demand is going up faster than supply, the price will go up. That's the only part of your guide that I disagree with; I think it's the other way around. If you sell when more people are buying, then they'll be willing to pay more, and you'll make more money. When not many players are joining, then prices will go down and you can buy them cheaper. Other than that, everything seems to make sense. I just thought I should point out what I think might not be correct.
  24. Whenever I go into the desert, I keep the Shantay Disclaimer. I only have 11, but once I start to do some of the quests in the desert, I'm sure I'll get a lot more.
