  1. No you haven't. There is no way you could have seen noob used way more often Um... yes, I have? I didn't say USED, I said OVERused. I agree that lol is far more common, but noob is OVERused more often. Misunderstanding I assume.
  2. I rarely make it to events and I don't really post enough here to become well known. On my other character I was well known in RSC, but not so much anymore. :P
  3. Maybe it's because I'm a Sabre, but I still like the name "Messiah". It had style. 8-) Militant was good too... I miss the days when people had good names.
  4. I think that before I said Pest Control. I'd like to change that to people who post incessantly about how WoW is better than RS.
  5. I've seen noob overused far more than lol. People who say lol twice in a sentence are still way, way too common though. #-o
  6. That's a pretty cool discovery, but it's probably just a coincidence. Or the guy coding the room was up far too late and started putting in hidden shapes for the hell of it. :-k
  7. Um... Dude, I believe you have truly and utterly missed the point of this thread. You've successfully gone on a quite long and wise rant, but one which bares no relation to this thread. This is a thread for making mock laws in the style of the manlaw commercials. We're not imposing our will on innocent bystanders and harassing them until they follow us. On Topic: Runelaw: Don't walk up to a fishing place and start shouting, "FIRE NOW Pl0xz!!!" If you want a fire that bad, get yourself an axe and tinderbox and make one.
  8. I agree that there are other things to do, but without levels it severely limits the other options. For example uests are a pretty significant part of the game, and most of those require a good bit of leveling. And yea, there are still some communities out there. But if you walk into a smelting spot and say, "Hi" you're about a hundred times as likely to get icy silence than a few years ago. :| By the way, SODB? I'm afraid I've no idea what it is. :P
  9. This article actually made me a little sad. Does anyone else find the fact that it IS all about leveling a little disturbing, or is it just me? I could swear this game used to be fun-related. Something I think Runescape has gotten away from, and I think this is evidenced by the "Make-X" options, is being consistently enjoyable. It's a game for crying out loud, and yet many parts of it are as onerous as doing your chores. It used to be that the community and having people to talk to made the skilling fun and worthwhile. Now we don't even have that. Ah well, now I'm rambling. Don't mind me - I'm just a disillusioned Runescape Classic player who thinks that he shouldn't have to click quite so much in a game made for fun. I'll just stick to my PKing, my last refuge in a game full of monotony. EDIT: And now I come to the Editor's defense. People seem to be worked up over the emo reference. He simply said that unlike others, he doesn't get upset that he isn't on top in the Highscores. The emo thing was just used in a simple phrase to say he doesn't get sad. I sense no prejudice or hate from the phrase - I see simply a phrase saying that he isn't emo because life is too short. To be honest I agree with him. (I'm using masculine pronouns because it's easier. I apologize to the editor if it was a girl). Calm down, people. \
  10. Apparently I'm the only one who sees the potential downside to this. Sure, the game will expand. But what will this do to the community? You may or may not believe this, but Runescape has a fairly connected community. When big things happen players hear about it, and without Jagex telling them. For example the SS protests. The word spread via the forums and through players like wildfire. Same with the 6/6/06 massacre. The thing is, this community has always had the strong connector of a single language. Sure, there are Dutch, Spanish, Swedish and other languages in the game. But the vast majority of players speak English. When you take out that vital connection the whole community will be shot to heck. From the sounds of it we're now going to have several communities that will each play on their own language server. We'll basically be dealing with several different games. This might not be that bad, but it's just vaguely sad. I remember the days when it was a single server and everyone knew everyone. Now we're looking at a game where you won't even be able to speak to a large amount of players. The community in RS2 has just been completely destroyed over the years for progress. That's life, but it's very sad for those of us who remember the old days. Ah well. Spreken ze deutsch? :XD:
  11. RS has definitely slowed down from about a year ago. To be honest I think that Runescape has just saturated the market. So many people started around the same time, and now it will probably settle into an average ebb and flow of players over the next 3 years or so. And with the German version... it will probably [bleep]e by another 50k-100k people. But since most of them won't be able to speak english, that's a whole new amount of problems for Jagex.
  12. I'm fascinated to see how you explain the 51% that voted for Bush. USA Today, the magazine. Not the nation. And there would be me being foolish yet again. That's a statement I can accept. I was taken aback that anyone could think that America as a country was liberal. So many people on this forum use bad grammar I didn't even catch that.
  13. I'm fascinated to see how you explain the 51% that voted for Bush. But no, I don't think the US will invade Iran. It would never get Congressional approval, and the US simply doesn't have the troops. Lol.. You think his approval rating is still that high? You're right, I was being foolish. Let me rephrase that. How do you explain the 31%, AT THIS POINT, that still approve of him? My point is that America is nowhere near liberal right now. If anything over the past few years it's been drifting to the right.
  14. Yikes. Those are a large amount of frighteningly long posts. This debate really is the crux of the Religion vs. Atheism argument. Currently, we really don't know why the Big Bang happened. As in why the universe was an infinitely small mass of energy. When you get right down to it there is either some force humans have yet to discover or everything is infinitely old. Is it possible that there is no beginning? It's a hard concept for humanity to wrap their minds around. We NEED beginnings, and most of the time ends. If we decide that there must be a beginning to all things, then there is a force out there we haven't yet discovered. Is it God? Is it even sentient? Even if there is something out there these are further questions that would have to be answered. The way I see it humanity simply doesn't know enough about the true nature of anything. We can ponder beginnings and god for eternity and not get closer to the truth. All we can really do is take what reality has given to us and apply our logic as best we can. Right now I favour the theory that we really don't know the truth, there is that force we haven't found yet. And for now, I call it the "God" force - the unknown force that started it all. I haven't the faintest idea about the nature of the God force, and I don't know if I need to worship it daily, but I do believe it's out there. So let's all become agnostics and call it a day. :P

  16. Phats. I used to call them party hats, but it's been shrinking over the years. : P In a few more years when I'm still broke I'm sure I'll call them garbage.
  17. My greatest skill achievement would have to be when I hit 15 combat way, way back in RSC. Back then it was a pretty high level and I was very proud of it. : P I only got up to 27 before I took a several month break in 2002, so 15, 20 and 25 were special for me.
  18. Monotheistic religions like Christianity, Islam and Judaism have just had a bigger impact on the expressions of western culture. It's ironic how atheists will sometimes use terms with God in them without realizing... certain expressions are just so widely used the religious connection is often forgotten or ignored.
  19. Some people here seem to think that last summer was the high point of RS history. :? I'd go back and pk anywhere again with the good old clans. I could care less if I was rich if I got to experience the golden age again...
  20. Kop was born on February 7, 2001. But I've moved on to Kewl Sabre as my RS2 main, and I made him in June 2001.
  21. Responding to the original post... As long as this forum demands reason and evidence be brought to debates... I'd say it's getting the treatment it deserves.
  22. Ignoring the spam... I like the Runescape class system, mostly because they really don't have one. Sure, it calculates your combat differently. But you're free to mix Mage, Warrior and Range as much as you want. I like the kind of freedom it gives you.
  23. The problem with the officials is that it's easy to post very quickly, which leads to more spam than a Monty Python skit. Because/on top of this, the average poster has an IQ of a brick. :wall:
  24. As mentioned I'm pretty sure DeviousMUD was a beta and few played it. The more important prequel to RuneScape would be Cyberwars - that's where the Sabres and THA (now THE) originated. I started on 7 Feb. 2001 (I remember it as the day after my Birthday). I'm close to the beginning, but I missed the first month. #-o
  25. As said, it depends on the person. For someone who enjoys various events and pking you could last a long time. But for most people that like training their skills reasonably fast... probably in the mid 80's and 800+ skill level. High-level F2P training spots are really few and far between. It's a rare F2Per that goes over 100, much less 110. I don't think I've even met a F2P-only 126.
