  1. Go find a NOCD patch. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you own the original discs, there is no legal problems. I probably shouldn't post links, but google "no cd patch" and either of the first two sites are fine, I use them for no cd patches a fair bit.
  2. It might sound dumb, but ARE YOU SURE that your drive can actually burn DVD's? In some lower priced notebooks, they can read DVD's but THEY CAN'T burn to them. That might be your problem.
  3. How about instead of deciding where it should go, you could try helping him out? To OP, try http://www.gimptalk.com. There are some good tutorials there for both learning the GIMP, and getting started with some simple art. This http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/A-Guide-To-Gimp-6150-1.html teaches some of the basics of digital art like blurring, layers, etc. This http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/tutorial-Learn-Full-Gimp-Interface-In-Half-An-Hour-20-1.html looks at the interface a little to help get your head around it a bit. This http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/official-tutorial-index-t20079.html is a huge index of tutorials if you're interested in trying out some digital art. Good luck! :)
  4. I have a new nokia n95 that I want to put some videos on. I have DVD's that I've ripped and I now have the .vob files. What do I need to do to convert them so they will play on my phone and what will I need to do to get them to the smallest file size possible so they can fit on my phones 1gb MicroSD? Post what software I'll need etc. Thanks :)
  5. I can recall reading a lot of people having problems getting parts of this off their systems when they've had enough of it.
  6. Every Vista user has those two processes running and they should be left to their own devices.
  7. You won't run an 8800GT on a 300W PSU either.
  8. I'd look at the ATI 4850. Good speeds at EXCELLENT value at the moment. Checking TigerDirect Canada, the 4850 is only about $210, which was about $30 more than an 8800GT but this card will be much better value. The 4850 challenges the 9800GTX for pace and is a good deal cheaper.
  9. Locking this as you already have another topic created for the same question.
  10. I'm leaving this open, but let's steer away from discussions of trying to get around rules.
  11. We try way to hard sorry. Personally when someone is tryign to help you and then you tell them they try to hard you really think they want to help you out again? Bit of advice better watch what you say and then ask for help. ;) I don't about asking help from you guys after all, everyone that posted on here WAS WRONG :o So why bother posting then? And Julius, if you were pointing that statement at me, I clearly said upgrade back up AFTER downgrading. I agree, 1.50 is useless nowadays, DA is still releasing 1.50 kernel add ons but it's getting increasingly unneeded now as most homebrew runs on 3.xx/4.xx CFW.
  12. Try using a Pandora Battery to downgrade the FW back to 1.50 then upgrade it back up or go to Custom Firmware.
  13. I can tell you exactly one, and only one, reason that someone would use Win98SE... Games (both DOS and Windows) and other applications that just will not run on the later OSes, period. (And this is even after trying with compatibility modes and such!) :geek: Other than that, there is basically no reason to do so. So I hope this note helps. :-w ~D. V. Devnull And what programs are left that are that old and haven't been updated? I'm sure a replacement could be found for old programs not compatiable with XP. And by the way, use DOSbox for DOS games on XP if you love your nostalgia.
  14. Have you tried borrowing a mates video card or going back to Integrated Graphics to rule out the video card itself?
  15. You will only see any sort of performance increase on systems that are already severely lacking in RAM. Unless you have 512mb or less RAM, you won't notice a difference, and it would be pointless putting Vista on a computer that bad anyway. As Dracion said, RAM is so cheap nowadays and you get a far better performance boost buying actual sticks of RAM rather than using Readyboost.
  16. This thread is going no where with nothing but flames. Locking this.
  17. Please use the sticky lordkafei kindly provided if you are looking for a partner for Heroes Quest. :) Locked.
  18. Right Click on Desktop > View > Untick "Show Desktop Icons". Easy. :)
  19. Locked on Request. :)
  20. Try running the install as an admin. Right Click the file and select "Run as Administrator." If that doesn't work, try deleting the file and re downloading it from another source if possible.
  21. Ah, you're a Canadian, I assumed you were from USA because most TIF'ers are. So, checking Dell Canada, I found the XPS page, check here. There are XPS laptops there starting at $899. I chose the $999 model and customized it, end result was similar to the build I posted above for $1499. Here is the link to the model I picked, you can customize it to your liking, I myself upped the CPU, RAM, HDD and Graphics.
  22. Just had a quick play around at the Dell site customizing an XPS. This is the end result I got, coming in at $1574. This laptop is far better value, but it's your choice at the end of the day.
