Zelda: Twilight Princess
Maybe you just flew thru the game a little too fast? I'm 40 hours in and only on the snow dungeon, but I have almost all the miniquests done, have 30+ poes, have all of the bugs except one, and have the majority of the hearts available to me so far. I just like to soak everything in before I beat the game, not after. I think you enjoy the game itself better that way.

I'd imagine you'll find the 'famous' tippiters are modest enough not to brag/inflate their egos and post about it.

RS2 Products? PC Products? Whats next...
truth right there. jagex put it in the game for a reason. PC is a savior to me. i love it. why would i go around killing other stuff when i could just go to PC and lvl like twice as fast That's not the point. Nobody's asking that of you. It's the fault of the game that it's this way now. If I levelled now, I'd use pc too. But my point is, how would you feel if in a year jagex allowed everyone to just type in their levels, and they wouldn't need to train at all? Pretty annoyed, eh? I know I stretched the analogy out a bit, but it still works.

RS2 Products? PC Products? Whats next...
Early Rs1: 10-30k per hour Current Rs2: 60-100k per hour In some cases it could be up to 10x the difference. But even with smaller amounts it's still not fair to older players really. Any difference is an unfair difference - either way you're working hard like you said, but does that make it ok? Older players have to deal with so much with jagex not catering to them in any way, only focusing on making the game easier and faster for newer players. I think that's what the problem is. But that's not going to change. They're where the money's at. But if you owned runescape you'd probly find you'd be where the moneys at. If you first created a game for fun but then it became a business, the fun would be gone as you would want profit a lot more. I understand what your saying (yet i still don't understand how people can get 80-100k exp an hour, some hack?) but yeah i totally agree. Anyways my last post for night as im off, might see if the threads still here tomorrow, keep it a discussion and not pure flame please people :) Yeah, that's the general consensus about when jagex took a corporate turn. Right about in that time most of the old legends started quitting, and jagex started focusing on making this game available to the masses. They lost their interest of the older base, and focused on getting as many new members as possible, and in doing that, they had to make all elements of the game faster and easier. It makes money sense, and I don't dislike them for doing that. It's the way the world works - money drives everything.

RS2 Products? PC Products? Whats next...
Again, misconstruing what we're saying. It is the fault of the game, but we're only saying it's frustrating that our time was used less efficiently than your time. There's no jealousy. It is what it is, and I'm not complaining. People haven't "found a better way" - we didn't have pest control. We had hobgoblins on islands(that was my spot :P). If we had a better way, we found it. We were training at the maximum efficiency the game allowed. The game now offers a much higher maximum efficiency, and it's just annoying that we never had the opportunity when we were younger and had all the time you guys do now to train.

RS2 Products? PC Products? Whats next...
What do you mean you struggle? You don't know what struggling is. In early rs1 everywhere you were you could be killed while training. In late rs1 the best training spot was in the axe hut in the wild. People took risks where they could be killed at any time for the best xp in the game. Now is there a risk? You can't even die. It's ridiculous. How can you call that struggling? Again, we're not complaining. We're just saying it's frustrating and not exactly fair. You can't really suggest that we should have waited until now to level skills, can you? Of course we knew some elements would get easier, but nothing like tripling the speed one levels at. Things like that are just a slap in the face to the people who maxxed out earliest. A great point that I forgot to mention. All of these new high level 100+ were usually filtered out, because in rs1, it took real patience to get to such a high level. Now it's not that way so much anymore. You can max out in a few months of 'no-lifing.' Anyone can get to level 100+, and there isn't as much as a filter to get rid of annoying kids who let loose their inner criminal/badmouth that anonymousness allows. There just isn't any maturity anymore that you used to be able to expect from high levels.

RS2 Products? PC Products? Whats next...
Yeah, but what kind of a message is that sending people who already maxxed their skills out? The 99 lever joke Paul's famous for mentioning would make everyone love jagex, but obviously it would be unfair both to the game itself and to people who earned levels the real way. I don't call people products of anything, but I could see why people would. It's just frustrating remembering back when you actually had to use food to train, most of the time made yourself, and you only got 10-30k xp an hour. Now you just click a boat, click a portal, and you've got 80k+ xp an hour. I mean it is what it is, and we can't complain about that, but it's still frustrating knowing how easily everyone else is flying by. If I spent my time levelling in rs2 instead of rs1, I'd be a much higher level than I am now. Things like early in slayer where you had to fight the monsters that you were assigned to, and randomly changing it so you could switch assignments is just annoying. When I did the majority of my levelling, if I had an annoying assignment, I had to deal with it. New players don't. They shoot through their levels easily, and get the same levels I do faster and easier than I did. At least there's one countering advantage. People do level easier who started later. But people who started earlier have their own advantage: rares.

Kent Hovind's "100 reasons evolution is stupid".
Anesthesia, you officially won this thread. :P It did sound interesting, but Tigra, how do you know that guy isn't lying about the biology books lying? If it's one supposive lie against another, I trust the books to be closer to the truth. It's possible that they are outdated in many cases, but this guy sounds like he's got too much of a bias, and above that, just doesn't seem all there from all of those charges. (Oh, and loved the Xplsv reference. So true. Sorry xp - it is) Edit - I realize you only want to watch it to see a different opinion, but you have to expect some discussion other than just getting an answer. This isn't a help and advice board, it's a discussion board.

Anybody play normal games?
The video game counterparts of board games can in no way take the place of the real thing. They just lack ... being real? I don't know, you can't replace sitting in a square face to face with your friends/family by a video game where everyone's facing a screen.

Zelda: Twilight Princess
I had the same thoughts. The dungeons and towns and areas looked great, but Link has no real relationships in this one. There are a few, but they're so stereotypical. The rest are so slim. I really loved Majora's Mask and OoT because you really got to know all the characters and their lives, which didn't happen in this one. This definitely is an awesome game - I just wish there was more character development and story.

Best movie of 2006
I'm not taking a poll or anything, just wanting some discussion. I was looking at the top 250 movie list on imbd, and 2006 only got two movies ranked, while 2005 got 6, 2004 9, and 2003 7. So not a great year for movies, apparently. I think so too - there have been some sleeper hits, but nothing great this year. Since there's not much left of 2006, and there aren't any amazing looking movies coming out before 2007, I think it's fair enough now to make our judgments for 2006. In your opinion, what was this year's best movie? Personally, I'd have to go with The Departed, Borat, The Fountain, or Little Miss Sunshine. Since we're talking the best, I've gotta go with The Departed. It'll go down as a classic.

Wii launch countdown!
Yea, to me, those games you listed are all worthless, lol. But like I said, that's just *to me*. In my eyes, the Wii just has a punch of kiddie-styled games and they're pumping out more, which is lame. I played RedSteel, it was pretty bad, lol. Lol, does 'launch' mean anything to you? Wii had Zelda on launch which is a flagship title. Xbox 360's didn't have any til Gears. A year AFTER it launched. I don't know when the games (MGS, GoW, Devil May Cry, FFXIII) are coming out for the PS3. Or if those companies are going to even stay exclusive anymore.

Or you just couldn't get adjusted to the new style of controls and therefore decided it was just bad?

Those links aren't working right now. I read it off the main page though, and it was a pretty good read for someone who hasn't tried out much of the skill yet.

Your fashion?
Yea, ditto, which is why I refuse to wear t-shirts, or anything that makes me look fat. Layering and not big clothing is the key. I like layering, but for the opposite reason. I'm just really skinny, and bigger clothes make my frame look bigger.

Time Travel? possible?
I beg to differ, unfortunately. Don't you think Hitler would have been killed and events like Pearl Harbor and 9-11 stopped, if time travel was discovered 1000 years from now? That alone leads me to believe that nobody will ever discover time travel on our planet. People like JFK just wouldn't be dead if someone could go back and fix it. Now, if alternate dimensions exist for every variable of time, there's still a chance that time traveling can be discovered. If not - I'm thinking it won't ever be. Unless you're John Titor, of course.

Your fashion?
When it's cold I wear regular jeans and a sweatshirt or hoodie. When it's hot I wear a t-shirt and shorts. Usually non-name brand.

anybody watch HEROES...?
Yes, I think he did actually. Forgot about that. Also in the last episode he saw his brother fly out of the car. That wasn't the future, that was just as it was happening. Still, he saw it and he wasn't there. Well they are twins. Twins are said to have telekinetic links between each other, and many cases support that. I'd say the writers just put it in that way. (Edit: Or just brothers. For some reason I think they're twins - are they?)

Technology, is there a point which it is bad for a society?
I agree with Bluetear's opinion. You took a pretty big jump in linking that to our destruction. Why is it such human nature to instinctively be afraid of technology? I just don't get why when people hear about some technology they're unfamiliar with, instead of being interested in what gains we could get, they automatically revert to thinking it's a sign of the apocalypse or something.

'Leet Speak' is Hazardous To People?
By lazy, I don't mean in terms of time. I mean in terms of mental effort. People don't take the time to use real words. On a lot of message boards people use more and more leetspeak, and less real words, so their vocabulary's pretty much nonexistant except for one word replies like "LOL!" or "OWN'T PLX" or "ROFLMAO" type things. Instead of saying why they loved it or thought it was funny, or expressing their self in any type of words, they just use three letter replies that aren't even worth reading.
-
'Leet Speak' is Hazardous To People?
Dialects of English usually don't encourage idiocy. Most dialects of English are based around being in a specific culture, so that specific culture can express ideas more efficiently and clearly. 'Chatspeak,' as I know it, administers no structural changes. The people who omit proper punctuation [and related] would likely do this regardless of using cheatspeak or not. Destroying vocabulary? I'm pretty sure it increases your vocabulary. Lazy? I thought of it to be pretty efficient. It saves time, when you say 'lol,' you are effectively using an acronym that is representative of chatspeak. See how efficient it is in comparison to typing "That one made me laugh," or "Laugh out loud," or related expressions. This is especially good for cell-phones, or small devices that are hard to type on. Yes, it is easy to get used to. You learn it, and you do it -- monkey see, monkey do. Well, when I read chatspeak my brain pretty much converts it to the acronym, or elongated word that it is representing. Just my 2c. I'm not going to address each point one by one, but there's a difference between chatspeak and leetspeak. Chat speak like 'lol' is used for efficiency, to abbreviate. Leetspeak most of the time takes even longer to type than the real words. Using words like pl0x and own't instead of real sentences to describe what you want to say is laziness or a lack of anything worth saying. Not efficiency. When I say destroying vocabulary, I mean instead of having an arsenal of words, people often use the same words just because it's the internet - like my previous example. If I didn't cover any of your points, let me know.

anybody watch HEROES...?
I think that was a dinosaur. Who knows - maybe he'll go back in time to the dinosaurs or something. Hiro's definitely my favorite character besides Peter. He's just got a pure spirit about him, and his enthusiasm about things is so funny. WOOT! go Hiro! lol, i thought this topic died a while ago, but now it's bak on the front page! i don't get how Peter could see the future in that episode... was Isacc ( spelling... ) around...? :-s Maybe there's more to his power? Maybe he's a purer form of Saylar and can slowly copy other powers but in a weaker form without killing people or something. k...thats a good theory, how do u explain the bomb inside of him blowing up the whole world?! that would take like 10 nuclaer bombs to do that ( i think... ) those bombs would be huge! how do u fit that much into 1 person?! :ohnoes: I'm pretty sure it's just New York. But who knows. Maybe he collapses after absorbing too many powers and just explodes from it all? Maybe he absorbs Silar or something and when that happens it's just too much for him to hold? Who knows. That's why it's called a cliffhanger. :P
