  1. Somewhat off topic, but has anyone ever seen jagex update at this time of the day, ever?
  2. Adam007 replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
I'd say neither. A lot do want to be pmods purely "to help," but I'd say the vast majority want to be pmods for the status it comes with. That's why you have so many wannabe pmods nowadays flooding jagex with every single reportable action that they think in their head has the slightest chance of working, taking the quantity over quality approach. To your "tools of the system" question - I wouldn't say so. They willingly take up the job, so if they feel used I'd imagine they'd just resign. The perks in their mind have to outweigh any feeling of being used, otherwise there wouldn't be any reason to continue being a pmod for them.
  3. Just try playing it when it comes out before you make your judgments. From all of your posts about video games, you seem to be way too heavily influenced by outer aesthetics, and actual graphics of games. The wii isn't as gimmicky as you think it is. I can't speak from personal experience since I haven't played it, but people who have played it say it's extremely intuitive, and just feels natural. I don't see how you can think the idea isn't good. Who wouldn't want to take that next step into realism? It's so much more natural to play a game when you're one step further immersed into it through natural controls instead of just using your fingers, primarily one thumb. Things that were never before possible with gaming now can be. So anyway, I'm basically saying to just take it for a test drive and make your judgments about it after you actually play it.
  4. So is thieving. :wall: Most of the skills in runescape would be very illegal. The basic combat system would be illegal. Fighting with swords is probably illegal. It's not legal to just go outside and start mining. Herblore is pretty illegal in most cases. Fishing's illegal unless you have a license and are fishing in a legal place. The same goes for 'ranging.' Thieving's obviously illegal. Firemaking is illegal where I live. As is woodcutting. And we're not counting the skills that don't exist either. So now that I've just made that list...why the heck did I just make that list?
  5. I'd just assume they did it that way to make the two rooms seem more aesthetically pleasing. Some rooms are pretty empty even when filled all the way, but if they combine a few rooms they make the one room in the picture seem a lot more lifelike.
  6. Why do people think this? You have no idea how long the skill has been worked on for. It could have been started over a year ago on a separate team. It's not like there's one specific skill making team and right when they finished construction they moved right onto hunting. You have no idea whether or not jagex "thought this through" or not, so don't act like you do. I'm sure they've spent enough time working on making it a quality skill.
  7. no, because slayer has made so much $ for people, farming has made soo much $ for people. and construction has saved so much $ for people. and its made a huge impact on the economy, and from what duke freedom wrote it does alot...good or bad who cares it did... quests dont really change the economy much, look @ "dragon" and "barrows" gloves same magic attack as infinity gloves and still people pay almost 1mil for inf gloves. wakka has had 89 whip drops, and @ 2mil each(i know some were worth more) thats 178m at LEAST. farming, ive heard some people buying red party hats thru farming ranarrs, if a red party hat was like 100mil thats alot of farming and alot of $ construction, drained inflation alot and then allowed for things like the barrows repair stand and other stuff. it made people some $ for building flat packs and paying for guilded altar useage what the hell do you do in your spare time? Actually, all the things you mentioned have brought very little money into the economy at all. Whip/other item drops don't bring money into the economy, unless they're alched, which they rarely are. Farming herbs doesn't bring money into the economy. Building flatpacks doesn't bring money into the economy either. Yes, people pay for these items, but those people got that money from somewhere else, because as I said, the skills you stated don't actually create much gp at all, if any. The main money maker of the game is fletching/crafting combined with high alch, and has been for a very long time. When he was talking about economic implications, he never mentioned money being brought into the game. You just assumed that was what he meant. There can be economic impacts from more than money just being created. Mass transfer of money can completely alter prices. When slayer first came out and everyone was trading huge amounts of cash for new items, the economy was drastically changed. Not because of any gp brought into the game, but because of all the trading hands of gp that wasn't really goign on beforehand.
  8. It's probably been said one way or another but I find it funny that only 9% want quests - while jagex focuses over half of their updates to be quest updates. I haven't voted yet but I'm going to vote for skills. Whether or not we have enough isn't an issue for me. As long as they're good quality and moderately innovative, I'd take a new skill over 10 quests any day.
  9. College, college, college.
  10. There's a few versions of MTV. There's the main cable one that isn't really a music station, but on satellite and digital cable there are like 10 more MTV's that actually do play music. Personally I only watch MTV in the morning's maybe one day a week before I leave for school while eating breakfast for about 15 minutes if there's a decent song on. The cable MTV does play music really early in the morning. Other than that, I can't stand the other stuff. Any reality TV irritates me. Teenage drama is unneccessary.
  11. It comes out this Friday here in the US. I really want to see it, but no theatres around here are playing it. It's only going to be shown in 800 theatres over the US, a lot less than normal. The only site I got results from said the closest theatre playing it was in Michigan, 236 miles away :o . The two theatres I go to both have it - coincidentally I live in Michigan. ;) I got tickets for a sneak peak last week, along with a lot of my friends, but I had too much homework that night to see it. :(
  12. It was the other way around. I was just on digg and clicked on some random link about the 4 most interesting extinct animals. It might come as a surprise to you but I don't actually google all the bestiary NPC's and find their real life counterparts.
  13. Chocobo? :-s Chocobo. From the final fantasy series. Do some googling. Maybe a tad of wikipedia here or there. Oh! Ok, havn't played FF in a couple years.. so yeah #-o I haven't ever played a final fantasy game. I just read forums, and people tend to idolize them, putting tons of them in their sigs and all, so that's how I know what they are. I don't have the link anymore - you could try searching digg, that's where I got it. The picture's from national geographic though.

  15. That thread's loading really slowly for me right now too. It seems the whole forum's kind of lagging, but that one especially just won't load.

Personally I would have been pretty annoyed if I wasn't called to know that I'd be waiting 15 minutes in the car. I'm sure you guys probably walked pretty slow, stopping to talk to people and all that. In your parents position I would see that as wasting your Mom's time. If they were yelling and all, that would be an overreaction, but I can see why they'd be annoyed. Anyways, my parents are kind of like that. They're always pointing out my irresponsibility over small things, but I think they think overall I'm adequately responsible.
  17. An interesting thing I just found. The terrorbird in runescape looks like this: It's actually based off a real animal. It's extinct now, the 55-million-year-old bird called Diatryma gigantean, but it looked like this: That bird was also referred to as a terrorbird. I know, nothing extraordinarily special of a post - I just found it interesting.
  18. Everything feels so wrong.
  19. Things easily go wrong, but that's the fun of it - and not really reason enough to be against it. Some things people just have to experience.
  20. I thought this was a pretty good article from a recent dry spell run of the editor. Keep up the informative/journalistic approach, not the blogging! :)
  21. What I thought would happen to general p2p is happening. Those broad general topics are popping up on it now. Out of the first four topics on the page, none of them really fit with general p2p. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=558979 - Goes to link about mmorpg's in general. General or off topic. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=559094 - A complaint about a ban that belongs in general. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=558924 - A personal story of an event that belongs in general f2p or blogscape. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=559206 - Ended up getting locked for the sheer stupidity of the thread - didn't belong in that board either. My point is that general p2p is getting increasingly more generic. General p2p has always been the board for discussions about the p2p element of the game and updates. Now it's getting threads that general f2p is known for.

My middle school had one once. We had to walk to the highschool and sit in the gym for a few hours. I think after that we were bussed home. Not exactly my definition of a fun time.
  23. It depends on the situation. In a court case where all the details of what really happened aren't available and lives lie in the balance, the process has to be different. You can't assume someone's wrong and force him to prove himself right if he doesn't have any evidence. But overall when we're dealing with science, the best way to go is to be wrong until proven right. I do think it's too much of a black/white issue in the way you're presenting it though, and you can't apply one rule to every situation either.
  24. Any midlevel player with protect from melee can do it pretty easily now. Back in rsc the minimum was about 65, so assume now you can do it at about 50 minimum if you don't have much skill. As long as you have protect prayer you should be able to kill them pretty easily though.

If you've been playing for years and have suddenly stopped, posting to let your friends know that you had already quit is fine. But I completely agree that it's ridiculous for people to see themselves as either 'on runescape' or 'off runescape.' Those are addicts. As I say numerous times, the only rule I go by in regards to playing runescape is: "if you feel like playing, log on." This overcomplication is unneccessary. That's the only way people need to look at it.
