  1. If a system was introduced that disallowed a player from continually bringing high-value items into the wilderness, this problem would be all but eliminated. I proposed something like this in addition to item restrictions on these forums and Zybez forums and got a little bit of good feedback, but outside of the few responses I did get it seems nobody's interested. I don't think there's any hope for the Wilderness.
  2. I'm probably following too. Good decision on your part. :D
  3. This is the last nail in the coffin for F2P and Jagex's growth rate. So much for my goal of 99 smithing to give new players brand new sets of armor that I was willing to work myself to make, from mining and smithing the ore to hammering everything out. Sad.
  4. If you say so. Whatever floats your boat, I guess, but what exactly is enjoyable about RC?
  5. That exact part was an exaggeration. I thought the "lvl 127" would make that quite obvious. But if you honestly think that the amount of abusive behavior and crude insults hasn't dropped significantly in the past month you haven't been paying the slightest bit of attention to the way players treat each other. In fact, most of my friends have noticed the same exact thing. Little has changed from my observations. Most were pretty funny, some were not. If I saw Teleblock I preferred not to stick around to find out the differece. RC PKers and runite PKers were annoying, but they still had the ability to PK you and you really didn't have the right to complain. Well, so you did have the right, but nobody had to listen, especially the ones getting free dhide.
  6. Of course, the GE is located in Varrock... In the meantime, my money pure is getting rich off of all these stupid updates (first selling weapons to idiots at bounty hunter, now investing in law runes). Thanks, Jagex.
  7. LOL! Why? Jagex haven't added a new f2p quest for over 3 years. They wouldnt do that. No that idea wont work. you assume everyone wants to train everything. What if i happen to like range but thats about it. i can train for like an hour a day and then i have nothing to do? its not even worth considering. Christ this idea's a bit like sleeping bags was only even more badly thought out and stupid. I doubt enough people would want this service for it to be profitable, it will most likely be easier for the farmers to just move to an easier game Once again, people CAN, WILL, and DO pay for scripts to play the game for them. That's where the real money is now. You are right in that traditional goldfarming is probably better suited to other MMORPGs now.
  8. Unless that gameplay scarcely counts as such. I know you already know what I mean. Which is really a pity, since I can get much better from a decent single-player RPG. MMOs emphasize different aspects than single player games. Yet, quests are almost entirely single-player and those that are not are akin to pulling teeth. Saying you can get what you need for the quests from other players isn't that much different than buying those items from a shop in a single-player RPG. Just read the post way above... You know, that one about trading, PKing, staking, merchandising, et cetera? Yeah, that. How exactly are the old features more "mind-engaging" than what we have now? The features that aren't "work" are still here (minigames, most quests, etc., though PKing is arguably worse.) Ok, minigames are good, right? They're fun, not mindless, and fast-paced... But wait, what? You're all out of money and don't have the supplies to play anymore? That's too bad. Looks like you're either stuck with melee or have to go skill. It appears I really must spell out to you what was superior about the old system. What made the old system great is that you could beat it. By the power of your BRAIN, you could develop strategies to train faster, fight better, and make more money than anyone else (and yes, for those good enough, PKing was very much a good way to make money). You didn't have to spend time sitting in one place clicking on trees or rocks waiting to get a level or get a certain amount of money. Shocking, huh? What's left, then? Monster hunting? Quests? Again, I can point to many titles much older than RuneScape that have better gameplay (don't get me started on graphics) yet have essentially the same types of features. You're probably gonna call me out on the "train faster" part; yes, it is true you can still find faster training strategies, but what is training anyway? It's a means to an end, and a heck of a lot of ends have been fried with these updates.
  9. The bigger threat comes from people who design sophisticated macros and autoing programs for RuneScape. These could easily be sold, and with the skill-oriented direction RuneScape has taken, it won't be long before their time comes...
  10. WoW, and many other games, are also repetitive. But by no means do the developers of those games conserve their money rather than spend it on the game. RuneScape and all the other games are updated frequently, but it's very hard and risky to change the gameplay. Sure, Jagex could make it into a sort of hack-and-slash, but that'd be expensive and would probably cause major riots. They spend it on ways that will please the players at the minimum cost (read: maximum profit). Surely you cannot be that naive? Which is really a pity, since I can get much better from a decent single-player RPG. Just read the post way above... You know, that one about trading, PKing, staking, merchandising, et cetera? Yeah, that. Go on. I really hate it when people who don't understand PKing try to talk about Bounty Hunter like it's a good thing. Fair enough. What in the bloody blue HELL am I going to do with 30k?
  11. No doubt that what they did was a hard decision, but it was still wrong, more in the sense that they based their changes around gameplay that was more akin to work and disposed of those aspects of the game that were not. Paradoxically, these measures have eliminated RuneScape's problems with goldfarming, but at the same time have opened up grand new possibilities to people who write macroing programs or host powerleveling services. You can't imagine what has been lost for some of us.
  12. Excellent thoughts. This will allow charity, (perhaps?) drop parties, and last but certainly not least the ability to give your friends any gift you please. Jagex should listen to stuff like this.
  13. This is excellent and helpful. Well done. Graphs like these will make investors a lot of money in time to come.
  14. In retrospect, it would've been better had I heeded that old saying... "Be careful what you wish for." I got it. I also lost everything else.
  15. Have fun skilling. I'll be outside.
  16. This isn't a mistake. This was deliberate. You- me- All of us- We have a choice to make. We can quit, or we can try to have fun in this collapsing house of cards. If you CAN have fun, more power to ya. For me- for many of us- these updates were not worth it, and maybe one day you will see things the way we do now. I just hope for your sake that you notice it sooner.
  17. Yes. F2p has been gutted with the loss of the Wilderness.
  18. *standing ovation* =D> =D> well said, I second that opinion whole heartedly. 8-) I agree as well. =D> =D> =D> The trade restrictions aren't that bad anyway. If they increase this value to 50K for over 200 qp, then I will be happy with the entire update. (I know that my sig says that I don't have +200qp, but it's a sliding rule, and I will be happy with the value I get) At the moment, let's just sit back, watch the RWTers leave, and then we can get some constructive ideas in. Ixfd64, we don't need a lecture about what has happened, we already know that gifts, lending, monster drop sharing, private parties, PKing, and bank sales are heavily restricted at the moment. We need constructive ideas. Not history lessons. As far as I'm concerned, this game is irreparable under the current management. Maybe not for you, but I for one am not content to waste my life clicking on pixels without engaging my brain. The ability to do that in this game has been lost. Right, ok. Let's say that you're management. How can we solve the RWTing problem better then, whilst still engaging the player's brains? Stop basing this game so much around grinding. Eliminate mindless repetition. Put something into it that requires creativity, critical thought, and real SKILL. The introduction of a Music skill that utilizes the keyboard is an example; for other skills, you could introduce quests that are based on puzzles and not "fetch me this or kill me that;" you could introduce means of competition with other players that require the player to actually think about what they're doing instead of being the first to click on something with a higher level. Do you know why Jagex does not/has not implemented this, however? Repetition = time = money, savvy? I could go into more details in a Suggestions thread, but I got little interest or feedback on my last one and so I see no point in trying further. People apparently like the game the way it is now, and though that saddens me, there is nothing I can do about it.
  19. One of these days I'm going to log in and see this: "Welcome to Progress Quest 3D." You're right. This game has been made more automatic and furthermore less about how you find ways to beat the system and more about how long you are willing to conform to it- that is, how long you're willing to spend mindlessly (let's make a distinction here) clicking on pixels. It is no longer about timing, dexterity, innovation, or indeed, creativity- just grinding. If this is RuneScape as it was intended to be, then I shall have no part of it. This is not what I enjoy about a game, and indeed, it was not what I enjoyed about this game three years ago.

  21. I disagree with the whole "Strength in level" part- a good part of winning in the wild was the strategy you chose to employ against particular opponents.
  22. In any case, the last bit of my patience with this game has been exhausted. I'm going to give Jagex three weeks to get their crap together, and then I vote with my internet connection.
  23. The question was mostly rhetorical. It was asked to make a point, not because I don't know the answer. It was really dumb of me to assume that you were being naive. Sorry. They used to be, per my experience. Times change. They'll probably regret it, though based on what I've seen lately they must not be very concerned about customers and probably more about how many dimes they can squeeze out of them before they've had enough.
  24. Use a tree to hide. Gosh, you people, how can you be so dumb?
