  1. The only reason I would ever fight is to defend myself or a friend. I'm rarely on the attacking side. And it's never one of those "formal" fights with rules and stuff, it's always a spur-of-the-moment thing. My school is pretty peaceful though, mainly everyone is friends. The popular people are actually cool, as in they're nice and willing to be friends with basically anyone. However, there are those who want to be popular and cool, by trying to act tough and mean and try to pick fights. So it's always those people against everyone else. My friends (And I, kind of) are the geeks/nerds, so we're known as "weak" and "unable to fight back." So those people tend to pick on us...Normally not me, since I have some...Connections, but some of my friends get pushed around a lot. I'll admit, I can't control my temper well, so I've gotten into a few "fights", defending my friends. For the record though, a few years ago, two girls got into a fight over a boy. One shoved the other's head through a window.
  2. Lawl. I'll give the answer for someone living in Taiwan, since that's where I am. Yes, it's basically Chinese food every day, all three meals. There are fast food places like McDonald's, which the locals seem to be very fond of. (I find that they're more crowded than Chinese restaurants) Otherwise...Not really. There are a ton of small Asian restaurants, probably family owned. I remember going to French and Italian restaurants here, but they're rare. Rice with most meals, and I have no idea what vla is. Yay Asians.
  3. Well, basically all modern fantasy is somehow based off of Tolkien. I'm not saying Tolkien wrote the first fantasy, but Lord of the Rings is the base for a lot of things. And some of you need to wake up. A lot of people hate Harry Potter. Some hate the movies because they're pretty different from the books (Purists), some hate the series in general because the story sucks, some hate the books because they're lazy and don't want to read them.

Wow. I'm gone for a day and you guys get 3 pages. And am I the only one that sees a slight similarity to Lord of the Rings? (Probably) Snake is like Aragorn (They even look pretty similar...), Zelda is like Arwen (Elvish princesses) and...ZSS is like Eowyn? Eowyn did disguise herself as a man (That's what the power suit looks like to me... #-o ) to fight. :ugeek: Wow. That's actually pretty weird. (No, it's not...) Anyway.
  5. I mainly play the original Age of Empires, Age of Empires 2/Age of Kings, and Civilization IV. I plan on picking up Total War: Eras sometime soon as well. : (It's a pack of 3 of the Total War games with their expansions...I think) I don't play the original Age of Empires as much, but I replayed all the scenarios again not too long ago. As for the second one, I play it pretty casually. Not that much. Both are great if you don't care about graphics, you'd probably want something else if you do. But I'd still recommend AoK. Civilization IV on the other hand...I've really gotten into it lately. Mainly because I have nothing else to do. It's your typical Civilization game, except better. The games can take really long, and in my opinion, it's a pretty hard game. Still great though, I'm trying to beat all the scenarios on one level (I can't remember which) right now. I love the Mongol one, since it's purely combat based...And I love combat in strategy games.

you have to pay for it i believe. :wall: Nope, it's the same thing as Sword of the New World, which I mentioned earlier. I don't remember much about it other than the MCC and the huge download. Oh, and you can AFK train. It's really easy. Soldier Front is a FPS, you'd be better off playing Combat Arms if you're in America or Australia. Yeah, but it's still better than a ton of games out there. -.- It's only decent if you can find people to play with though, don't even bother trying to solo the whole way... There's also a game called Perfect World, apparently it's good, but I don't know anything about it. I think it might be in Closed Beta right now, not sure...The only way I found out about it was I saw an ad for it on the side of a bus. #-o Only in Taiwan...
  7. Like it was all a dream. :twss: She could've made Voldemort actually be Harry's dad. Or uhh...His mom. That would've been epic. For the record, I'm halfway done with Wizard's First Rule. Started a week ago...It's getting good.
  8. I've been having similar thoughts. Where I live, the only two subjects needed to graduate (As in you need to take them and pass all four years) are PE and English. In America, I understand PE, I guess. English, on the other hand, is debatable. The thing I always say to my friends is "What if I'm going to move to Taiwan when I'm older? Will I need really good English then?" Answer...Should be no. But most people won't. So I suppose it's important. Maybe not to the extent where you need to know every single grammar and spelling rule, and know the definition of hundreds of thousands of words, and have read hundreds/thousands of books, but being able to speak it properly is. I personally would say math should be compulsory, but I'm kind of biased. I'm a math geek, I find math to be a huge part of my life. Though I agree with what people have said, knowing only the simple stuff can suffice. It depends on what you wish to become though, if you're going to be an architect or something, yeah, you'll want to know things like trig. If you're going to become an author, nah, you'll probably only need to know how to count your money. Some of the stuff learned in math is useless anyway, like when will you actually have to do a geometric proof...? History is kind of important, as it can lead into politics. However, knowing the names of battles and famous documents...Want to tell me how that's going to really help in life? Science depends on what you want to become. And it depends on if the school offers bio, physics and chem at once, as different courses. Some jobs will require one or the other, some will require none. I sort of agree with Assassin. Up to 16 or so, most subjects should mandatory. As a sophomore, will you really know what you'll want to become? Maybe you will, and maybe you won't. Chances are your interests are still likely to change, and not taking a year of math because you think you'll become an athlete, then deciding you'd rather not can really hurt. In my opinion though, if anything, English and math are the most important. They are (Or at least were) the only two MCAS tests you have to pass to graduate in Massachusetts. (MCAS is the state-wide standardized test)
  9. 1. Can't download, but that's probably due to my lousy internet connection. 2. If I manage to download it, apparently I'll get an error, due to my location. Anyway, does this mean you'll be playing Brawl again? :D
  10. I probably should have clarified. When I said I wasn't extremely loyal, I didn't really mean that I conform, and hang out with "cool" people for the sake of being cool. I meant that I have backstabbed friends, for various reasons. For example, one of my friends thought it would be cool and funny to constantly swear, be perverted and racist all the time. To put it simply, we're not best buddies anymore.
  11. Time to jump into this thread I guess, as it dies... Quite a pity, AoC had a lot of potential. Too bad Funcom screwed it over. I was considering getting it sometime soon, don't think I will anymore... -.- I'm still grasping that last bit of hope though, that Funcom will do something amazing... Hah, I would playing Combat Arms right now, except for the fact that Nexon doesn't support Taiwan. :wall:
  12. The victim was sleeping when he was attacked, by the time he woke up (If he even did), then he (would have) had no chance. I don't fully agree with the death penalty. Most murderers, when they prepare for the killing, they prepare for their own death as they know there's a decent chance that they could be killed in the process. (Generally, this may or may not be the case here) So giving the death penalty would only give them something that they're prepared for, maybe even want. I guess I kind of agree with Lenin...Why not torture them for a few years, then kill them? Isn't that worse than just killing them?
  13. Little kids and their parents are evil. We should kill them all. Oh wait... I've thought of the "kill everyone with AIDS" thing. I figured it wouldn't work though. Oh well. Pity-seekers are idiots. So are those who say "Your problems are nothing, just look at people in third-world countries." (Basically means, only MY problems matter) There's more. Too racist for this forum though, I guess.

Sweet, another Dedede! I'll have to play you when I get home... :P And the tier things are done by pros. Like people who study the game. I honestly don't care for tiers at all, unless you get into really advanced stuff it shouldn't matter. Never thought I'd have to fight for my position as best Dedede here...I don't even know if I am...Best white Dedede though =P (No offense to anyone who uses DDD)

Z0MG I started playing RuneScape again for some crazy reason. (Mainly because very few other games that I like work here... :x ) Mining and smithing have and always been my favorite. So that's what I'm doing. Not addicted though...Just passing two weeks with it. : Anyway, I think I'm going to one of my mom's friend's houses sometime next week, and they have a Wii. (I think) I wonder if they have Brawl...
  16. - Plays here. As in online. Well, except Smash Balls. Though I've grown to not play with those either. I won't bother breaking this one down, since I usually don't play with the "fun" items. Though they're really not that fun if you're honestly trying to win and you get blown up by a random bomb and lose. However, if I'm bored and just want to fool around, sure, I'll turn on Smart Bombs and put them on high... :P Also, not to be rude, but I don't think you know that much about the game. Sure, basically all the information is correct if you look at it one way, but some of it could be debatable. Like the chance of killing three people with a Dragoon is extremely unlikely. And the timer can backfire...
  17. Wait...How is Dedede ANYTHING like Dr. Mario? :? Ike vs. Roy... Um. Roy/Marth's up-B is far different from Ike's. Ike's is purely vertical, it covers a lot more vertical ground than Roy's. Roy's though, can go a bit horizontal. And just look at Cruel Brawl/Melee. Using Roy'd the graphics because of Wind Waker, I forget if it was out when Melee came out, but it's out now. Well, that was a while ago, but still. Snake was only put in because some people at Konami were begging for it. I doubt HAL/Nintendo/Sakurai/Whatever would put in another third-party character just like that. Sonic was voted in by players, I'm pretty sure. Also a third-party character. They can't just put another one in, soon enough there'll be characters from a bunch of various random games and platforms. Ugh. Peach and Yoshi...Are you serious? If you think they're useless, they're not. And if you take them out, other characters would just take their "useless" position and you'd want them taken out. Wolf is quite different from Fox and Falco. I'd like to see Lenin play as Fox/Falco. I doubt he'd do as good as he does with Wolf. If they ever make another Super Smash Bros. game, I hope they take the gameplay of Melee and mix it with the content of Brawl. Both are good games though, Brawl just needs a bit of getting used to. (What exactly is the point of this topic...?)
  18. I don't have much, I remember all the websites that I need, and FF3's search-title function (You know, when you type a word in the URL bar) helps. So... -Gmail -TIF (OT) -CNN -Youtube -TV listings -The default Firefox ones
  19. I have to wonder if he's done it before. Or at least another killing, not in this style. If he was perfectly calm, and did it easily (I really doubt someone committing murder for the first time would be able to behead someone just like that...), then either he has some mental problem, or he's a professional. I have no idea about Canadian law, but I hope he gets the worse. Whatever it is.
  20. Both. It's likely that I'll backstab my closest friends one day. It just happens with me. Every really good friend I've had... :| However, with friends I don't know as well (But still qualify as friends), I'm loyal. It's backwards of what you'd probably think... Generally though, I guess I'm loyal. If I was a backstabber/go-with-the-flow-guy I would be hanging out with a bunch of "popular" idiots, rather than my fellow nerds/geeks.
  21. I really, really, really, really love the music from the Lord of the Rings. Howard Shore is incredible, the orchestra (London Philharmonic, I think) is as well. The books are awesome, the movies are awesome, and the music is awesome. You can find the OSTs on Youtube, there are too many for me to link. I think DarkLordSealskin uploaded them all, not sure. There's also this website, you can listen to some samples there, and read about the various themes (Unlike most movies, LotR has no one theme.). My favorites... -The solo tin whistle (Pan whistle?) playing the Shire Hymn/Pensive theme. -The Rohan Fanfare on the Hardanger Fiddle. (Quite an amazing instrument...) -The Fragrance of Ithilien Favorite track, either The Fields of the Pelennor, the Black Gate Opens, or the Return of the King. Of course, all this has motivated me to try learning some of it on piano. Still working...Once I can play them well, I'll upload them to Youtube. : I'm quite obsessed, if you can't tell. As for video games, I suppose Brawl has some nice music. It basically brings all the good Nintendo music, which there is plenty of, into one game. I foresee Chrono Trigger coming into this thread, by the way.
  22. #-o It was cloudy. As in...It's going to start pouring rain like crazy soon. So if the Sun was blocked by the moon (Here, at least), it was also blocked by clouds as well. Though it was a bit darker than usual, so perhaps... Dsavi, got any pictures? I've seen a ton of general ones, from Heroes ( :P ) and while I was working on a science project, but none taken by well...Not professional people.
  23. The animation on Wikipedia isn't very clear, I'm not sure if it'll hit Taiwan. If it does, it'll be around sunset. :o Never seen a solar eclipse, but I've seen a bunch of lunars. Both partial and total. Edit: Damn. It stops right before a bit before Taiwan. I wonder if my friends in China will see it. I guess if I'm ever going to see a solar eclipse, it'll be the one in 2022 (I think, might be 2020) in Vermont. ...Or not. It's going to partial in western Taiwan. I don't know if I count...Only one way to find out!
  24. The truth has been spoken. And since cake is not meat, the cake is a lie!? I suppose I kind of like meat. Cold cut. Steak. =P~ But I don't really love it. And I'm definitely not a vegetarian. As for the whole "being a vegetarian makes you unhealthy" thing, my piano teacher is a vegetarian. She turned 70 not too long ago. Doesn't sound too unhealthy to me...For the record, I think she uses soy as a replacement. And for the "plants are equal to animals", do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? You might as well say bacteria are equal to animals too, since they're alive as well. So the fact that vegetarians use soap makes them hypocrites too, eh?
  25. I used to like Harry Potter a lot, then I found the real fantasy (Epic/high fantasy...Like Lord of the Rings) and completely forgot about it. Kind of. I read the fifth, sixth and seventh ones on the day they came out, speeding through them...So I can't remember what happened. I know the big ending, I remember that Slug guy, and of course the Half-Blood Prince part...I should probably go read a summary. I had no idea what was happening in half the trailer. I hope they have the "Why are you worrying about You-know-who? You should be worrying about you no poo!" part. Looks good enough, I'll probably see it. And yea, Dumbledore + Fire = Gandalf falling in Moria... (It actually kind of looks like as if they stole a clip out of LotR :? )
