Dutch court ruling on kids forcing another to hand over RS goods
Seems like people still don't understand that terms of service are not laws. According to the ToS the items you own are not yours, you're not allowed to sell them, etc. If you break the ToS all that happens is that jagex can ban you from using their service. However selling virtual items in the real world is not against real-world laws, nuance. Hence why they can be taken in account as having a value in court.

Manga/Anime Discussion
I'm following a few new anime series, deadman wonderland, tiger & bunny, blue exorcist, steins gate and kaiji season 2, they're all awesome.

Addicted To Runescape
Sounds like you have a problem with people being successful. Having a girlfriend, sex, alcohol, etc is not strange. Languages are needed for travel. Astronaut.. didn't see anybody that said that. But yes, some people do have great careers. Stop hatin'

Probably the gayest thing I have ever read. Well geez sorry I have goals in life

Addicted To Runescape
I study Italian, Japanese, train at my MMA gym several few days a week, try to work out as much as possible and get better at guitar. Since RS doesnt help with any of these goals, I try to play it as little as possible, and as efficiently as possible when I do play. Even if an evening of playing RS is more enjoyable than an evening of memorizing kanji... long-term the latter will bring me more happiness you could say. Kinda like grinding real life.

What Loyalty Rewards Say to Me
The loyalty rewards thing is unfortunate but it doesn't bother me too much because members is only 6$/month. But I don't like what they've done with the katana to make it available for a limited time to only one country and only to one mode of payment... Imo everyone should atleast have the opportunity to get it.

23-Jun-2011 - Introducing: the Members Loyalty Programme!
I think Jagex only ever was against "RWT" because they were losing money on stolen credit cards. I feel like some "RS virgins" need to go and play a few more mmorpgs so that they can get a bit more perspective as to how things work elsewhere. Adding bonuses and limited time items and things like that with a subscription is not strange in the P2P mmorpg world. It's profitable and I guess Jagex finally decided to live with their time (at least for this aspect). It's not a good thing per se, but not that outrageous. I wish people would stop calling it RWT though, makes you look silly.

Jagex Appeals
Trained monkey says: "Monkey is trained to press "Accepted" and "Denied" at 50/50 ratio. If you make monkey laugh or make monkey read less monkey give you "Accepted" more. "

Micro Transactions vs. Bots...
I think they should try to make the grinding interesting. In a lot of games you need to rely on teamwork and strategy to lvl up and that's a lot more interesting than the "click and wait" system where everybody does boring tasks individually.

If they made a Runescape movie featuring your Character
Sanctuary <3: It's interesting how in Sanctuary her character is so much more awesome and interesting than her character in SG1.
-
Vanity Items - RS Prepaid cards and Ornate Katana
They've probably been thinking about adding micro-transactions to the game for quite some time. They know some of the user base won't like it, so they're taking baby steps. That's what it looks like anyway.

Pking this is what it has become?
I thought this whole "honor code" thing was just psychological warfare so that your opponent wouldn't use all the tools available to them to win.
-
Why aren't passwords case sensitive?
People lose their passwords either by falling for phising, getting a keylogger, or telling them to an untrustworthy friend. In all 3 cases, having weird characters in the password doesn't prevent anything.

So my kid was banned!
Assuming this isn't fake imo you shouldn't let your kid near a computer at that age. They'll develop bad habits.

01-Jun-2011 - Behind the Scenes - June
That loyalty thing is just so people keep paying for membership even on months when they would otherwise not because they're not active enough to justify the price, or taking a break. It's all about money. Probably now some people are going to subscribe nonstop for the next few years regardless if they're actually logging in or not.

Runescape after death?
Why would anybody put that in their will? They would just write down the username and password and give it to whoever. There's no need to try and make it "official" by putting it in a will.

China Using Prisoners To Farm MMOs
It's probably not very glamorous, most likely they stand in the same spot and kill the same monsters over and over again for months on end.
-
Jagex taking stance
They're handing out temp bans, not perm ones. So after the 14 or 21 days are up, the bot is back in business. Great PR, and they're not actually losing any money from bot memberships.

"Loafing" in Minigames
I'd say you're doing the right thing, you're getting the reward for minimal effort. Jagex brought this upon the game by giving boring mini-games good rewards (eg. MA) and having the completionist's cape require months' worth of CW games.

16-May-2011 Lava Flow Mine
I got the full set + gilded 2 picks on the first day, and I was paying so little attention to the game I thought I might miss it. But nope, it stays long enough it's hard to miss. Didn't bother putting sounds on either. If you focus while mining there you're just gonna make yourself miserable.
