15-Mar-2011 - Ring of Wealth, Shanties, Trolls and Dungeoneering
Skilling never made the amount of money combat did. I don't know what your talking about. Not all skillers do it for money anyways. Back in rsc, the top dogs were the ones smithing, providing people with their belowed rune weapons. After rs2 was introduced the ones with 91+ rc earned a lot. From slayer, barrows and on it shifted a little. But with GWD in 2007, there has been no doubt. And oh, skill capes helped change the focus over on xp from gp as well, one of the factors that contributed to the situation we have today.

How are you preparing for Bonus XP Weekend?
Woke up from my rs slumber for this wekeend. Managed to get 84-86 farm, 73-85 herb, 76-77 craft, and 71-77 agility. I'm quite pleased. :)

How are you preparing for Bonus XP Weekend?
Oh lol. I thought that there had to be some summer time or other fault in my time convertion. >.< Guess it was just Jagex.

Spirit trees
None of the locations are really much better than alternate ways of getting there. But I'd say Brimhaven at least, then miscelannia. Even though port Sarim is a fast way into the network, a quick MA teleport is still much faster.

Income value of slayer + farming.
Thanks for the estimate! :) I've already done some calculations according to what I would make at TDs, and frost dragons and so on. The only thing is that I'm not interested in doing those at all, which makes it useless to calculate those anyway. F.eks. If I estimate an income of 3m/h, and uses supplies on slayer according to that, but never do the money making methods that nets those rates (even if I COULD do them) i'd end up going negative on money. I've mostly been calculating with an income of 1m/h for now. Allowing to *some* money making outside of slayer. But since ultimately slayer is what I want to do, i won't do too much of those. I'm not very close to a yak yet, but I'll get that with the slayer xp. Only a few experience points away from ice strykes :) Another question I've been wondering about is maximising the slayer gp/h. What equipment/supplies end up netting me more gp/h than they cost to use. As an example: Add super sets, these cost just a few k per hour or something, and I'll get drops worth more than this in the time saved. Overloads would be an obvious example of the opposite. The time i spare by doing them would not pay off by doing more slayer in the time spared. I guess I ask about effiency, but in a closed system of only doing slayer, and still needing money for herblore/prayer.

Income value of slayer + farming.
I'm soon coming back to runescape, and the plan is to continue with my slaying, and getting some dg stuff + herb/pray levels. But I've stuck into a problem when calculating efficiency. What gp/hr should I value my slaying at? The only money making I do is herb farming, and daily broad bolts/arrows/battlestaves. Apart from that, it's just slayer. It would be good to know, so I'd be able to find the methods of training slayer that would help me the most. (cannoning all possible tasks, when I should repot potions, what tasks to do, and the choice between capes, et cetera.) I know this might be a bit bad explained, but if you ask me, I'll try to clarify :)

Farming question
I've got a quick and kind of non-important question. When farming herbs with juju potions, and you have only one space left, will the effect of the potion still be possible? Will the extra herb drop on the ground, or will it just not have a chance of doubling that last herb? Don't go out of your way to answer this, just answer if you coincidentally know this :)

Herb farming
@quyneax. Thanks for reminding me of pies, I'll use those instead! After a few rounds with torstols with stranger plant, I realised that there's one problem with using it. Not that I'm not managing to keep within the juju potion dose, but that my farming drops down to 84/83. When that happens, I have to wait until it drops down to 83 again before I can boost it. May I ask another quick question btw. If I log out, does my juju potion doses reset? I assume it doesn't, but it would be better to ask to be sure. I guess that I could just log quick in and out one time during my farming run, that would keep my familiar from dropping down to 84 :)

Herb farming
Hey. I just wondered if anyone know what herbs are the most profitable to farm nowadays. I've got scroll of life as well as juju potions. I would look up Grimy's spreedsheets, but the prices there are messed up, so that didn't work too well. So I thought I could ask if anyone here knew before I took out the calculator myself. I'm 83 farming, so I can farm anything, as torstols are just a stranger plant familiar away. Lovely if someone knows! :)

D scim + D Def, SS, or God Sword for Str training?
also, if You're in the middle between ss and dragon scimitar in money, you could buy an obsidian sword + onyx necklace, which is in the middle ground between those in xp. (at least if the creature you're attacking doesn't have too high defence)

Auto log out.
For some reason I thought you meant the automatic log out after playing continuously for six hours. Wasn't before I read all the posts for the second time I realised it was the timer for being idle you talked about :) Anyway: I think like the timer is now, it really is good enough. It is enough to make sure that you at least pay some attention while playing, while it on the other hand gives a little more space than it used to do before, when just reading a bit on the forums would end up logging you out.

Farming Setup
Also, adding your falador shield would give you a few extra experience points at a the falador patch, it's a 10% (or was it 15%?) increase there.

Level 1 Clue Scrolls
I've gotten a few hundred level 1 clues at HAM.'s sometimes you are unlucky and have to wait some extra minutes, but I found it to be the best place for level 1 clues. Just be sure to have full ham clothes on you, perhaps an EE(E), and all teleports you need ready :)

Wilderness and Free Trade will return - 17 January 2011
There's no way I can see that be returning, considering that the update that gave us unlimited stocks was the very same update that removed the wilderness three years ago. Could be that the shops are returning as how they were with free trade though, with a limited stock, shared across all players. (Oh, I remember earning money by world hopping, buying death runes at the magic arena bank)

Wilderness and free trade vote! - Now Closed
Usually, you would pk so that you would keep your chaotic weapon when you pk, wouldn't you? Even though you could be smited. But there's one dungeoneering reward that is very much permanent, and helps pking: Rigour. You can use it as much as you want, and it definetively gives you an advantage that isn't shown in your combat levels. I'm a retired person, and I never pk'd much back when I played. But as I see it, the problem isn't as much that combat levels are bad at accurately reflect one's combat ability, but rather that they very too powerful, by raising max hit to teh point where it's possible to one-hit someone. (correct me if I'm wrong, I just wonder what people think about this)

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Thanks. We did range him, with protect from magic on. Only thing is that we tried running around to avoid the meleers instead of spotting them. Might have made things a little more difficult. And the rangers were just terrible. I pity my youngest brother though, with a level 80'ish account. I think he died like nine or ten times by the time we were finished.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Just tried some f2p dungeoneering with my two brothers, since we were a little bored. Haven't tried dungeoneering since the first month, where I got level 71 :) Anyways, I stumbled across a room with a mercenary leader, and what the hell? How are you supposed to beat a level 200 mercenary, plus mages, warriors and rangers - all in tier 11 gear, hitting 400's? we were slaughtered, even with all the food we could get. Are there some good ways to handle these rooms, that might be good to know? :)

SGS vs EE
Another factor to look at, is that you can spec with the EE without spending any more time, you can change, spec, change and attack again between the attacks of a weapon with scimitar-speed. The SGS, on the other hand lowers your DPS, since you'll have to wait a few more game ticks before you can attack again with your primary weapon. Might not be much, but since you seem to have taken a lot of things into the equation, one more factor won't hurt.

2038th to 99
Congratulations Blind! You're a beast! Will you re-learn me how to do dungeoneering when I come back to rs. Just seven months left :)
-
An explanation of why I'm away.
So I have been away from rs for two months or so now, and I know that I left without saying so to anyone. I didn't really notice myself that I was leaving, because I always thought that I would play tomorrow, or the day after, and after, and after. I knew I wouldn't be playing the school year beginning now, because it's going to be quite special, going to folk college and all. But knowing that I was going to leave didn't really help on the motivation for playing, I guess. So I ended up playing less and less. But I've always known that I'm going to start playing again next may, so it's not really too much time before I'm back! :) (And I will of course log on rs from time to another and say hi to the guys in the cc) Finally, I guess I owe everyone an apology, I should have said bye to you all, but I'll try saying it here to the guys I haven't been able to say it to yet. Hope you all will have a great year, and I can't wait till I can start playing with you again! :D

JK I really do quit.
Sounds like a weird thing. Anyways, welcome to the rs (temporary or not) quitters club ^^,

Introductions & Farewells
So some of you guys just "might" have noticed that I haven't really logged on for quite some time. I've always known that I was not going to play runescape the upcoming school year, since I'll be attending a folk college, and will live so close up on the rest of the people there, that I won't really bother with rs. Summer vacation also started now, and somehow, I find myself more busy now than what I was before the school ended, and I don't know why, but if I can only put in one hour of rs on a regular day, I'd rather not bother with it. Anyways, I'll still try to log on and talk to all you guys in the Clan Chat, even though it probably will not be often. Lastly, I'll have to say thanks to all of you. You've made playing rs even better to play, and I really hope that when I make my return in about a year or so, many of you will still be here. Oh and please send me a message here on tif, I'll without doubt continue to be on these boards. :) Andrea / Largo / Arnie :)

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
where was this post about 400k street price? 400k street price is eqvivalent to 75k ge price. Mod mark said the people would have been able to sell them or the same price anyway, with just more hassle. Boots were 2 gp each at sherpa. Mod mark is ...... sorry, i can't post those things on these forums... Am I missing something here, HOW does 75k g.e mean 400k street? Because if you're trading more than 60k worth off the ge value, you'll need junk to buy something with cash. So that something with say 1m street and low ge value would need almost 1m worth of junk to be able to trade. But junk, even if it's not worth as much as the ge says is still worth something, so that 400k worth of junk is about the same as 75k worth in the ge (according to xpx here)

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
How is this possible when they bought items with the cash they made? :-? That is a good point, Just didn't think far enough before posting. Although I'm pretty sure they could reverse trades as well, without rolling back the entire game. But of course this would get harder the longer time they waited, of course.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
I don't think you understand, people have alched 1-2k of them that's 45m into the economy. Yes that is 45 million. And if every person had 1-2k boots, then it would be terrible. But most people have few, just a select lucky ones had a lot of boots, and they have earned an impressive amount from this. But even if we say that a few billion have entered the economy, that's still not a too big hit, if you consider how gp actually flows in the economy on beforehand. Maybe the general prices will raise a few days, but nothing major. It's not a constant gp flow anyway, just a one time happening. So if 500 People had 1-2k of these boots, which is more than realistic at this time, thats over 20b in the economy. Do you honestly think this is acceptable? Not accectable, jagex screwed up big time on this update. But those 20b aren't as much money as one could think anyway. Most of it would eventually be sucked up by the richer part of the rs population. It's enough to make an impact on the economy, but most people here seem to go all rs armageddon over this update. Also, another reason to not vote for a rollback, is that jagex can track items. They can find out what boots have been alched/sold, and change the amount of gp they should have recieved for it. More like a selective rollback, so that it won't harm the rest of the people playing.
