  1. Offtopic... I really enjoyed Hangover . :D Also you an untitled I thought was great - the girl and guy at the campfire one. Did you ever give it a name?
  2. Hit anonimou, heal Mr X Abyssalreaper-71 Positief-53 Speedy_petey-61 Mr. X-57 Anonimu-73 Issy2-75 life_mage12-PWNED! I_Rule_21-QWNED! Ragen-OWNED! Ash6110-RWNED! Gryoman can you read the rules please.
  3. I'm sorry, but frankly, I'm unimpressed by your grammatical snobbery. I work with children with learning difficulties. A lot of them have extremely interesting points to make, but have trouble expressing themselves in the written word. Can I also point out that twice you used "i" in the lower case, when they clearly should have been capital letters. I think you need to think about your own mistakes before you attack anyone else. We all make mistakes, even you! Sorry, I forgot to capitalise two I's... How the hell am I a 'Grammatical snob' I've stated my opinion, I've said what I feel. So, There is nothing else to say. Sorry to get involved here... but like SuziAngel said, you can't complain about other people's grammar without capitalising your own I's. Really, you should know better... especially if you refuse to read posts with grammatical mistakes.
  4. Hm it's hard to explain... Abstract basically means less specific. For instance some bits are very 'obvious' because you (the author) tell us exactly what is happening. So I would say try and make it less specific, and make the reader 'guess' what is happening. For instance take these two paragraphs, imagine they're both flashbacks. The castle was empty. the lights were dim. Candles were mounted on the walls and John crept slowly from room to room, trying to find what he was looking for - a beautiful silver sword inlaid with red rubies, diamonds, and other fabulous jewels. The huge blade was worth a huge amount - and John knew exactly that. No-one. Emptiness. Time, time to find what he was looking for... creeping through the semi darkness... there was nothing that could stop him now, John could sense that he was getting closer to what he had always dreamed of - riches, wealth, jewels... and with them came power! With that terrible, wonderous weapon, John would one day rise, and rule the world. You see the difference? In the first one everything is told exactly how it is. But in the second you have to guess it.
  5. i like it. it's more smooth and it's an enjoyable read though some bits could do with editing. maybe the flashback should be a bit more abstract? the description is doing well. possibly some metaphors might work well. But good job, keep working on it.
  6. A lot of people don't care about yours either. What kind of a weak topic is this?" Discuss if you do or do not like to read some forum" I like to read, but not in the varrock library. The writings there just don't interest me. ...So some people don't like the varrock library. Well boohoo, get over it. I think you're missing the point. I know I don't care about Cad's opinion because Cad repeatedly looks for fights and posts in a sarcastic unfriendly manner. It's probably the same for andufus too. There's nothing wrong with 'discuss if you do or do not like to read some forum'. there's been far, far stupider topics I could mention... so why you pick this one out I don't know. Hey we don't see you complaining about all the 'discuss if you do or do not like such and such a video game' now do we?
  7. I think we shouldadd that one to the dictionary.
  8. My granny recently got a car (she'll be 80 in february) and as far as i know she has to retake her test every two years, though I may be wrong. Personally I think that'sa good idea - it may be stressful for older people but at least it;l'll make things safer.
  9. you fail at being philosophical. There is no "right" way to be philosophical. So do both of you. At least he's trying.
  10. Wow... so much negativity. Come on guys it's obvious Viktorkrum isn't exactly planning on building this thing. He's asking for help, not criticism. Lighten up guys! Anyway to conserve resources etc you could use... um what's that stuff called... *hurries off to watch Stormbreaker again* super nylon. It's a tiny tiny thread made of (I think...) nylon and titanium plaited together. It's unbelievably thin but unbelievably expensive, too. The wind pressure up there would be too strong... like SuziAngel said it might be cool to have sweets in the lifts. :) Also in terms of wind again what about glass? I'm no physician but I'm guessing there'd crack up there with so much pressure. And no-one wants to work in a building with no windows... And if it was 6000 feet high... I'm not sure but what about passing aeroplanes? The shape would have to have a wide base preferably going up to a point. (nope you've already got that.) And if it was based in America where there's lots of tornadoes the foundations would have to be really deep.
  11. i wear glasses and i make plenty of friends. wear what you wanna wear cause i'd rather wear glasses than poke my eyes every morning dating at age 10-15 is pointless. asnswer me this. when you went out with someone at a young age was it because of actual love? or just to make you look cool? cause im seriously laughing at the fact people are sad that someone walking on the play ground with thier cousin. stay away from dating till you can drive IMO First one... just to let you know Riku, contacts are really easy to use. If you do it right you'll never poke your eyes. Although irulepoker I think you're wrong. Flirting with girls (especially when you're considered unpopular) is not the way to popularity... believe me. So I'd say just try and socialise a bit more at school, be confident about yourself and try to enjoy life.
  12. :| All my asian friends and I are great drivers. I find old women bad drivers. Actually, I find teenage girls and soccer moms bad drivers as well. So I guess that means all female species. ^That's just a broad statement and I'm sure all the girls on this board are great drivers  *cough* Please don't be sexist... though I will stop there... *remembers previous times when self has accused Guy of being sexist* :-w
  13. ???  If I were you I'd have another check. There's some really great stuff in there. Yeah, SmokeEagle never finished his wondrous Pandora's Requiem. I'm still waiting with bated breath... Anyway there's some really great stuff in the Library. It really is a shame that not many OTers use it. :(
  14. I guess I don't notice the overpopulation as much, I live in a small village and I go to school. But I guess if I happen to work in a bigger city, i.e. Bristol, i'd probably notice it more. It's a nice place to live, no doubt, but we're just too giving. We let almost anyone in and give them benefits. +10. *rolls eyes* Still I love London. I just love the busy-ness of everyone's daily lives, watching each and every person doing their own thing, losing them in the crowd, there's so much to do, so much culture, so much interest. And in general (especially the area where I live) people are really nice. Lots of young families and that kind of thing, good schools, parks, open space. As for overpopulation - England in particular has a very dense population. Did you know there's 6 million in London and 5 million in the whole of Scotland? (Those records are probably a year or so old by now.) Unfortunately there's alot of council housing (huge blocks of dingy, tacky flats) for rent. I suppose it's a good thing - they can accommadate hundreds of people, but at the same time it's unlucky for the people who live there because the flats have built up a kind of unfairly bad reputation. There's huge areas of suburbs on the outskirts and 60million people in the whole of England. :notalk: :D :D I suppose I quite like living in a small place (it's nice to cycle to school and stop for a chat 5 or 10 times along the way) but at the same time I like the bigness of it, being a part of such a great place, being included in it, it's such a great feeling. [/pointless ramble]
  15. Well it depends. I tend to base clicking on a thread on the title, actually. I hate video game topics and I very rarely post on them, even if someone I admire/writes good posts has started it. A few times friends have 'recommended' (sp?) topics via pms, or suggested I post on them. However I do tend to readthe first post of most topics, and it's about two lines long I usually ignore them. So a mix of stuff... or if I see an unexpected kind of title but a person I think will have presented it well or whatever... meh a mix of stuff, I tend not to read topics by people I don't like unless the title is interesting. Interesting topic by the way, Cad. Edit - come to think of it I'm surprised I opened this one.
  16. Hmm I really enjoyed reading it. The first paragraph is quite alot of fun and I kept reading throughout, though as Suzi said she's either Miss or Lady, not both! I think the name Gwyneth was a great choice but I feel her surname doesn't really live up to the same posh, poncey 1930 standards. If I were you I'd maker the name Tailor something a little more... *thinks* long winded. However I do love the description and so far it's an interesting read. It's authentic and detailed. =D>
  17. I don't think it's fair of you to immediately blame it on the fact that he's old. My mum does it sometimes... and you should have told him, it could have been a safety issue.
  18. Hmm... I say why the heck are you asking us? :? No offence, just 'should I be nervous' is a personal question which you need to answer yourself. Others too are in your situation and I think you'll be fine.
  19. thanks for supporting and everything, but please don't post twice!
  20. And the TA is? Sorry for being ignorant but I've never heard of it.
